In our reservation I requested a window table. Which I understand that based on availability it might not happen. However, we over heard the hostess go up to another couple, ask them if they were "me" and said they were working on a window table. We waited to see what happened next. The hostess walked back up to them to confirm they were in face "me" and the woman said yes...and then were seated at a very nice window seat-no obstructions straight view of the river. (I contribute this to the hostess who checked me in for my reservation - barely looking at me) ...and yes we 'should' have said something. WE were then seated at a 'window' seat, which had the shade down and was next to a covered patio area-where outside diners sat, beyond that was a canal view and houses. Having said that aside from also being seated next to the bar and a make-shift air conditioning unit...it was extremely loud - we could barely hear each other. The food however, was good. Keep in mind if requesting a window seat, ask for table 11 or 12, those were the best ones - and one we DID NOT get to enjoy. OVERALL, this was no fault of the waiters - we rose above and funny enough, the same couple who took our table, left restaurant at the same time (BEHIND US), and even though we were already in line waiting for valet to get our car - they managed to one up us AGAIN and got their car first. Stopped in for a light brunch, ordered the chopped salad. What we got was chopped somewhat browned lettuce and not much else for $14. I had to ask where the cannellini beans were. The waitress returned with a tiny amount of beans taken out of the can, unseasoned, for me to add. Didn't see much of other ingredients if any that were listed. Really poorly done. read more

So we had to wait even longer for our food. We asked for bread, it came out a few mins before our apps. Which were brought out one by one instead of all at once. Came into this Chart House location with a large party at 4:00PM when they were opening. We did have a reservation and good thing we did since they place got packed very quickly. They do have a great happy hour everyday from 4PM-6PM but it's only in the bar so unfortunately it was not available to us. But they do have an early dinner special from 4PM-6PM. Once seated we ordered drinks. I of course went with the Old Fashioned you just can't really go wrong with it as long as it's kept simple. I will say they didn't have the big cubes which was a bummer but no big deal. We were also given free bread which you can't beat. When looking over the menu I checked out the early bird dinner options which come with either a soup or salad, and entrée, and a desert all for under $30 or even cheaper depending on which main you go with. None of them sounded good to me but the early bird appetizers did sounds good so I got the Kim Chee Calamari. For my entrée I went with the Mac Nut Mahi. I'm at Chart House gotta stick with the seafood. I also got to try a lot of other entrees. The Kim Chee Calamari was a large serving size for only $6. Tasty Calamari and I will also say I really enjoyed the fried veggies that came with it too. The Mac Nut Mahi was very good and cooked perfectly. I was also a but fan of the peanut sauce that it was serviced with. It is also served with, mango relish, soy glaze, mango sticky rice with Asian green beans. A great dish if you enjoy Thai flavors. Ashley got the Savory Shrimp Pasta from the early bird menu. For $21 with salad and desert you can't beat it. The only issue though is the sauce with it was pretty bland. Nice large shrimp though but just not a lot of flavor. I got to try the Swordfish which came in a Blue Cheese Butter sauce. I don't eat a lot of Swordfish but this was very good. If you are not a fan of Blue Cheese though this is not for you. It's very rich with it, but me me just right. Ashley and I also shared the Sizzling Mushrooms. They were good but a little bland. Just covered in a bunch of butter really. All and all good experience at Chart House. I will say for a large party our waitress did a great job and everything was correct. We came in to celebrate my parents 25th anniversary with a group of 15. We were specifically coming in for happy hour and made a reservation but got our wires crossed and didn't realize that we couldn't make reservations for happy hour. They had accommodated our party all together after originally being told we might not be able to all sit together (which was totally fine!), they even sat us in the private room and the menus were printed with "Happy 25th Anniversary" which we thought was absolutely amazing. After realizing we had gotten mixed up and we wouldn't be able to order happy hour in the room, they went above and beyond to move our party into the happy hour area and sat us all together. Truly the best service we could have asked for, they surely could have told us no but the manager, servers, and hostesses did everything they could to make our party happy. We couldn't be more happy with our experience and I'm typing this as we're still here! The best anniversary celebration for our parents. read more

The service was very good with care taken to get the drink orders exactly right. Two of our party ordered the prime rib. It was thin and not very tender. One ordered the shrimp pasta which was good. I want to let everyone know about early evening dining at Chart House (4 to 6), its a great way to start your date night. The menu is limited to about 5 entrees that include your choice of soup or salad and include a dessert. I chose the Paneed Chicken which is a Romano panto crusted breast served with citrus butter and potato garlic mashed. Our service was great, manager Ellen makes sure of it. I want to compliment Kendrick on his friendly attitude and attentiveness he and Ellen made our night memorable. I have to mention Uyri, the valet who always meets the patrons with a warm smile. Sunday brunch with a fabulous view! Very disappointed! First thing our server (female) called us was "lovies", "my lovelies" This continued through our meal. She also kept touching us. It was uncomfortable to say the least. Even if she was trying to be nice it was uncomfortable. Second the menus was disappointing for a brunch. I had the Eggs Benedict. No English muffin underneath and the béarnaise wasn't that great either. (No Canadian bacon) If a restaurant is going to get tricky with a well known food item they should explain it before hand. My husband had the diner burger. I don't know where they get their meat but how can a burger be bitter? The bottom half of the bun was slimy in grease and dissolved under the burger. First will say our waitress was good, so no complaints. She did her best. Unfortunately, the food quality was not. We were there for brunch. We have been there for brunch many times before. This time the fried green tomatoes were caked in a thick, very hard batter that had no flavor. I had eggs that were supposed to be over medium but were served distinctly and obviously over hard (solid yokes). The hash browns were overcooked and more like crisps. The asparagus and other vegetables were under cooked and did not appear fresh. The bread provided was minimal at best. They are all terrible in their respective fields. I have previously reviewed Tundra's and Smash burgers, and there is no reason to beat a dead horse. Chart House, however, is a completely different story, therefore I will vouchsafe the palatable critique of my most recent dining experience at the Melbourne location of the Bi-Coastal chain, Chart House. Up until COVID, friends would tell me that they only went to Chart House for the cocktails and the salad bar. Now, in post-pandemic America, the salad bar is gone. At 57 years of age, I was the youngest person in there, including the packed bar (they do have a fantastic bar with great views of the river). The one amazing bright spot is Kasey our waitstaff. She is professional, knowledgeable and wonderful. I asked Kasey for the Slow Roasted Prime Rib with three potato mash, red wine beef Au jus, creamy horseradish dipping sauces and a Caesar salad. The place gives off a pleasant, albeit empty vibe of glory days long past when the dining room was packed and humming with conversation. That view though. It wasn't long before Kasey returned with my dinner. Looking at the pictures, that Prime Rib certainly looks tasty, doesn't it? Sadly, it was impossible to cut and appeared to have been a frozen single cut put in a salamander to bring to dining temperature. One bite of the Caesar salad and I had to spit it out. The anchovies had turned and tasted like something washed up on the beach three days prior. The bagged croutons are a joke and I could have hung wallpaper with the potatoes. Had my sister's graduation party here and it was amazing! Started off with the artichoke and spinach dip and it was amazing. Literally could not stop myself from eating more that I was almost too full for my main course. The salmon was also delicious! Finally, the lava cake was worth being extremely full after. The crunchy pieces made it different from other lava cakes and definitely worth it. Chart house is also at a beautiful location next to the river (we saw Dolphins swim by)! The staff is also very attentive and caring and took great care of us the entire time. I had a lemon drop martini which was decently made, and the shrimp Tower for an app that came chilled with layers of avocado, cilantro and shrimp (see pic I included) , very tasty! Dinner is ala carte and pricey ! I got stiffened shrimp (delicious) that came with cauliflower vegetable rice which I found not even edible. It was dry and bland. The clam chowder had no oyster crackers, like why......????? It also was very bland with absolutely zero flavor. The calamari was tossed in this awful sauce. Why not put it on the side???? The Caesar salad was wilted. Sent it back and had to have a new one made. Still wasn't great. The ahi entree had zero flavor. Waitress seemed stressed and annoyed. All in all, the only reason for 2 stars was the view of the bay. This place was just not great. There are a million better places to go to. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

likely a fine place if you're a local and they know you. we have been there a couple times when visiting family. this last time was a major disappointment. Hostesses were at best standoffish; told us to "go wait wherever"; I understand policies of only seating whole parties, but it was an early dinner, tables were largely vacant. so I tried to order a couple drinks and we waited awkwardly near the very filled up bar. okay, not a great start but not a deal killer. waitress was quite pleasant and helpful when we ordered and then ... crickets. I have no idea where she was or what she was doing, but it wasn't anywhere near our section. She seemed quite rushed the 2-3 times we saw her thru the complete dinner. water glasses remained empty, no attention. I ordered a second bottle of wine (there were 4 adults) and it came as we were taking our last bites of dinner. as to the food - a mixed bag. one of the fish dishes had a sauce that was inordinately hot for a fish, and we love hot food; not at all enjoyed. and no follow up by anyone asking how we were doing. ordered a cheesecake to share for dessert; the best thing that can be stated is that the graham cracker crust was fine. it was inedible, even for the kids. someone botched the recipe that day. bottom line: It was almost $600 for the dinner and drinks (maybe 5 cocktails and 1 moderately priced bottle of wine) for a really not great experience. I'm not complaining about the prices; expected it to be so. But also expected a good dining experience from a restaurant brand that has and can do way better. won't be back to this one. read more

COVID-19 Edition: My fiance and I took my mom to the Chart House on Mother's Day (Sunday, May 10, 2020), which was during Florida's Phase I of re-opening during the Coronavirus pandemic. This hidden gem is right on the Indian River and next to a marina. So, if you're lucky, you can see dolphins jumping and sailboats and yachts coming and going. My favorite thing about the Chart House (since I don't eat seafood) is their gourmet salad bar, but this feature is not yet available again due to Coronavirus precautions. Also, the hostess asked us if we would prefer for our server to wear a face mask, the restaurant remained at 25% capacity (tables were left empty intentionally and there was no bar seating available), the paper menus were discarded once we placed our orders, the food was served to us by gloved servers and you had to request the salt and pepper shakers. As always, our experience was stellar. Excellent atmosphere, service and food. My mom and fiance ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer and they remarked that it was the best coconut shrimp they had ever tasted. My mom also enjoyed her cup of New England clam chowder and her entree of shrimp (they were huge!) and scallops. My fiance ordered a steak and it came out perfectly cooked (which rarely happens) and my chicken was so flavorful and moist! We'll definitely be back! read more

Came here with my husband. It was a little hard to find due to construction in the area. The view was beautiful, even in the rain. Now let's get to the important stuff... Starter: Shrimp Cocktail. Great presentation. Large fresh shrimp. No complaints. Entree: Key West Spiced Grouper. GOD IS GOOD. This is everything this pregnant lady wanted and then some. I still crave the mango stick rice, and the pineapple habanero butter made me want to lick my plate. Now I didn't eat the full entree because I needed to leave room for dessert, but I will add that this was just as good reheated and all mixed up. Dessert: Although ice cream is one of my favorite treats, I just ate the cake with a glass of milk because... well, I'm pregnant and I can do what I want! I quite literally DEVOURED that lava cake. I just know my baby was praise dancing in my belly because it was pure perfection. I'm sure it could easily be split between two people, possible three. Drink: Faux-jito was so good that mid-drink I started thinking I was drinking alcohol All in all, I will definitely be back. The Chart House is an icon in the area. Never bad, mostly awesome. We had a special that came with an appetizer, entree, and mini lava cake. We both had the prime rib. It was really delicious but nothing to make me yell from the rooftops. The dessert was delish. Not much more to say about it. You should go!
