Visited with my family recently. The building is under construction, so the tower was not on rotation. I wish we would have known that to make a better informed decision. I am glad they're renovating the place, though. We did not have a reservation prior, and they were able to accommodate our party of 4 for lunch. Our server seated us and took our order promptly. My little shared the tenders and shrimp plate, because the coat of each child's play is $14 and I knew they wouldn't eat it all. It was 2 tenders and 2 coconut shrimp. We opted for the sweet potato fries for $1 more. The portion could have been larger. It was a scant handful of fries. My husband and I shared the burrata appetizer. The dish was very tasty, but the tomato's were very soft and turned to mush quickly. The arugula was a nice touch but some was yellowing on top and there was an old wilted/dark green/slimy piece, but it was small enough to push over. I was just surprised to see that on our dish considering the cost of the dish. My husband had the Cobb salad for lunch. His salad looked nice and tasty. We were surprised to see the avocado was brown in a few places. I had the lobster shrimp roll with sweet potato fries. There was lots of lobster claw meat and shrimp. For $27, I didn't expect to see so much claw meat. The fries were the same scant handful of sweet potato fries. It would have been nice to see a more full pile of fries in both our dishes. First of all, our server did a great job, but it ends there for me. I ordered the herb crusted prime rib, medium rare. The server even mentioned that it would have pink center, which I knew. When it came out it did not look like it had been cooked at all, almost rare. I promise, it was nearly raw. Our server graciously took it back to resolve the problem. Another person brought my plate back and asked for me to cut into it to check the doneness. It was barely pink; I would consider it medium well. By then, I was ready to eat it, so I told her it was fine. However, they did not return prime rib, but a thin ribeye. I gave up and ate it some of it. The side of mashed potatoes were flavorful, but luke warm at the best. The whole thing was very disappointing. Oh, the reason I accepted the ribeye was because I was with another couple. Otherwise, I would have also sent the steak back. The restaurant was a bit chaotic and noisy. Lots of tourists. I suppose the Chart House doesn't enforce the dress code. Lots of men in tee shirts and ball caps. This is a pet peeve of mine. It was like eating in the main dining room of a Carnival Cruise. I won't go back. It was very disappointing. I mean you come here for the view and the ambiance. The food is pretty high quality when it comes to fish, king crab, sides, salads, etc. Pretty much anything you have will be fulfilling. The service used to be wonderful years ago. I made reservations for Friday at 7:30PM. I requested a table for two near the window--my request was honored! We ordered the Seafood Tower, Kim Chee Calamari, and the Bone Marrow Beef Tartare. Everything was delicious. I can't remember the name of the drink, but it was also amazing, I ordered two of them. Our server was attentive and sweet. Our food came out fairly quickly and was served as fresh as can be. The ambiance is low lighting, so it's very romantic and intimate atmosphere. We visited Chart House primarily for the views, and the appetizers really set a strong tone for the meal. We had the tomato and burrata, which was phenomenal--my parents' first time trying burrata, and they couldn't stop talking about how much they loved it. The tomato preparation was incredibly flavorful and well executed. The kimchi calamari is also something my husband and I always order. While I'd describe the flavor more as a sriracha/gochujang-style profile than traditional kimchi, it's still very tasty. The crispness was light, airy, and perfectly done. Unfortunately, the experience changed with the entrées. The price for the entrées was not worth it considering the quality we received. It felt like the kitchen was overwhelmed, and the mains had likely been held under a heat lamp too long. There was no glisten on any of the proteins, and everything arrived dry and overcooked rather than fresh. The mahi, in particular, was very dry and stringy with a texture closer to fish jerky than a properly cooked filet. The lobster risotto fell short. It still resembled rice, but had formed into a solid mass rather than anything creamy or cohesive. The lobster component lacked depth of flavor, and the sauce appeared broken and uneven. Timing was another issue--we essentially made a full roundabout of the tower between appetizers and entrées arriving, adding to the sense that the kitchen was struggling to keep pace. My spouse and I enjoyed our lunch together at the chart house. He was a bit disappointed that drat beer was not available as an option. The Cesar salad, butterfly shrimp and calamari with vegetables were delicious. I enjoyed the slow moving 360 degrees view while eating our meal. I would recommend visiting during lunch time as it was pleasant and prices were alright considering our location. We did have to waited a few minutes for one out of two elevators to transport us back down. I would recommend this as a place to visit. The dress code is not as strict as some are led to believe. This place was delicious! From start to finish! I was visiting for a business conference and decided to try dinner here. I had already been up to the tower and did not know it was a revolving restaurant Z so that was pretty good! I had the Burrata, heirloom tomatoes, oh my gosh this was so good! We had a 7:45 reservation and showed up a little early thinking we'd ease into the night. We've been to Chart House in Dana Point, California, so we already knew the kind of experience this place can offer. This location at Chart House fell extremely short. We check in and right away you're guided into taking photos downstairs. It's part of their setup the minute you arrive. They position you, take the pictures, and then later try to upsell them for $45. It felt very forced and honestly uncomfortable, like you're being walked into a sale before you even sit down. From what we saw, most people weren't even buying them. On top of that, it's $20 just to park, so before you even get to dinner, you're already spending. We're then told to head upstairs to the bar. Long elevator ride up, we sit down and no one acknowledges us. What immediately threw me off was the environment. There's a girl at the bar in ripped shorts, full tattoos, nose piercings, very casual, and the manager, a woman, is standing there with her and her boyfriend just chatting like they're all hanging out. It honestly looked like she was about to sit down and have a drink with them. Meanwhile we're sitting there waiting to even be greeted. For a place that's supposed to feel more upscale, this was not it. We sat there about 10 minutes while the two girls behind the bar were just chit-chatting, talking about their weekend, completely ignoring us. Not even a glance. At that point it felt like we were invisible. Finally a gentleman walks up and says, "Oh, I didn't even see you guys sitting there, what can I get you to drink?" He was the only one who stepped up. The other two couldn't care less and stayed busy talking amongst themselves like they were on a lunch break gossiping. At that point we're already past our reservation time and still no update. We finally ask that same gentleman if he can check on our table. Turns out we were supposed to get a text and never did. We go back downstairs and wait again. We don't get seated until around 8:15, about 30 minutes past our reservation. We order immediately, including drinks. Drinks don't come out until about 8:45 and even then no straws. Another 10 minutes just to get straws. Bread came out late. Everything felt slow and unorganized. We ordered the 30 oz tomahawk, medium, which was $160, along with the lobster risotto and asparagus. The risotto came out looking like a blob of cheese. It didn't resemble risotto at all. It looked like the rice had completely broken down and turned into thick cheesy clumps with pieces of lobster. The consistency was off and honestly confusing, more like mac and cheese than risotto. The asparagus were just mid. The steak itself was also mid. For that price point, you expect quality and you expect it to come out hot. The plates were cold. At a steakhouse you expect that sizzling butter when the steak hits the plate. There was none of that. The butter wasn't even moving. You could tell right away the food wasn't hot. At the beginning of the night they asked if I was part of Landry's, and I remember thinking no, but maybe that would change tonight. As the night went on and everything kept falling short, that thought went out the window. There's no way I would give my money to that group after this experience. If this had been the Dana Point location, I wouldn't even question it. That location is on point from start to finish. This one missed on every level. And honestly, that's on me too. I didn't read the reviews. I kept seeing the tower from our hotel and everywhere we went, and I thought I want to go up there and see what it's about. I saw Chart House was inside and figured we've been to the California locations a few times, it can't be that bad. I was wrong. Between the service, the wait times, the food temperature, the quality, plus parking and the photo upsell, this was not worth what we paid, which was close to $300 for dinner alone. If you come here, come for the view. Maybe grab a drink and appetizers at the bar and keep expectations low. As for a full dining experience, we won't be coming back. read more

We were told this was a tourist destination, however being part of the Landry's group we had a certain level of expectation that was certainly not met. Went on a Wednesday when the restaurant was about half full yet the service was so slow. The entire dinner service took two hours. Normally appetizer, couple drinks, entrée and dessert takes all around 1.25-1.5 hours. I received a dirty wine glass, requested a new one. Waitress brought out another dirty glass and requested yet another one. We ordered the largest prime rib, which is their signature item. Parts of it was so salty. It was simply inedible. We ended up not eating half of it. And you could tell the managers are really neglecting this location judging from the overall service and the bathroom. Confused by all the low ratings but we had a stellar experience with a Group of 15, on a Monday lunch mind you. Reservations were easy to make online. Came after a graduation at the alamodome and was easy to get there walking distance wise. Our table host Bryan was great! Attentive, patient. Cocktails were on point! Try the Basil yuzu if you're a gin person. Their cocktail fauxjito was also refreshing! Starters try the calamari and mussels! Flavorful. Fish and chips were perfectly battered. Clam chowder and lobster bisque, get a bowl, won't disappoint. They don't rotate the restaurant until evening service. We still had great views of the city! Great price points on food and drinks. Great for happy hour - the deals are good and the bar menu is the best option. The apps and fun drink flights are delicious and much more worth it. The entrees are okay here but I don't recommend it. The view here is great and we loved the moving floor where you get a 360° view of the city during your meal. We got the ribeye, pork chops, coconut shrimp, and swordfish. The ribeye and pork chops were phenomenal. However, the shrimp and swordfish were just okay. The service was good, so no complaints there. I do expect more from a high end restaurant though. I expect them to have every dish on point with nothing left to be desired after the meal, especially for the price you pay. I laugh that I lived in San Antonio and never visited but then I leave and return for a visit and I do the tourist thing and visit. We had a large group with us and the restaurant game me a limit of the largest group that I could have and they had our table ready. First off, lets start with arriving. You see the very tall tower and know that you have to get to the very top. You walk in, let the person know you have a reservation, you are guided to the elevator. You wait, and you wait, and you wait but eventually it comes. Then Zoom! Up you go! .... .... ..... ....... ....... ......... and you're still going.... ..... ..... ..... ....... ........ ...and you're still going.... Okay, you get the picture, it's far! It's a fun ride. Then the doors open and you made it. That is fun. The only bummer is when you have a large table, someone has to face away from the view. Well, everyone on one side of the table. It's not the restaurant's fault. That's the way the tables are set up if you want a large part. Fortunately, my husband didn't want to see the spinning view so he was okay with his back to it. The rest figured it out for themselves. The food was great and they had some fun drinks. The Chart House in the Tower of the Americas is an experience. To reach the restaurant, you must first wait in line for the elevator ride to the top. Wait times vary, so get there early. I attended an early business dinner with a preselected menu, but the entire experience from start to finish was five‑star. The service, drinks, salads, steaks, and views were top tier. I had made a reservation for mid July but they were remodeling and there were delays. We finally got in a few weeks later, but I really wish that we were notified that the spin mechanism was still under construction. I took my granddaughter there for her 12th birthday, we had this planned for a year and the best part was the fact that you could see all around the city and beyond while eating and slowly spinning. Everything was great! We decided to stop in for lunch and they had super affordable options on the menu. I went with the cedar plank salmon, which was incredibly delicious! The lemon cream sauce was a nice touch and was prepared perfectly. I also ordered a side of mashed potatoes which are always amazing, you must order them when coming here! My date went with the diner burger which was seasoned very well, the skinny fries were also perfectly fried. Our server was Juan, who was great. Juan was prompt, attentive and provided an overall pleasant experience for us. I will surely be back here again! We had dinner here this week after their renovation...things looked the same, I heard the hostess say that it was actually the kitchen that underwent renovation along with updated plates. The carpets still look worn and the interior design could benefit from being updated. Strangely enough, the room wasn't rotating like the previous times I'd been there...not sure if it's a change from the renovation or just a temporary thing. It was a Monday night so maybe it's different than on weekends? We ordered a variety of drinks, apps, entrees, dessert and were unfortunately disappointed. It took over an hour from ordering to receive our food. Reservations were at 6:15 and it wasn't until 7:30 did our entrees arrive. When it did, all the proteins were overcooked. The rare filet and shrimp were both well overcooked despite asking for the filet to be rare. The shrimp was dry and inedible. It was brought to the waiters' attention which prompted a swap. The second filet was cooked just right, but the shrimp again was extremely dry and had a foul freeze burn flavor. The prime rib was ordered for medium rare but came out well. When brought to the waiter's attention, it was replaced but again overcooked...when asked how the restaurant defined their medium rare, it was supposed to be red in center which was not the case both times...at best it was a medium-well...i ended up going without an entree. I was asked if I'd like anything else but everyone was just about done with their room temp food. It had been just about 2 hours since we were seated, so I just wanted to get our dessert and close the tab at that point. The shrimp mango avocado was refreshing...but no where as good as it used to be with the crab/shrimp/mango/avocado. The chocolate lava cake was rich but was not "lava cake"...it was more like a dense flattened brownie with ice cream and sprinkled with chocolate and toffee. The old fashion was strong. Those are the better parts of the meal. Service was good but slow. We weren't checked on until we asked for help...maybe it was just a busy Monday night or perhaps they're still working out their kinks from just opening again. I think Chart House has potential but has fallen behind from where it should be. Looking at my past photos, presentation and taste has gone downhill from where they used to be. Came here to celebrate my birthday early with my husband, he wanted to take me here as an "experience" type gift so we can explore out of our Fair Oaks Ranch/Boerne bubble haha! Don't get me wrong, we get out of the bubble pretty often but we don't go to the downtown area a whole lot since it can be chaotic with traffic and people. As we got to the area (btw, this is the same weekend of the SA Marathon weekend so great timing haha), you can see the tall skyscraper aka the restaurant/space! We got there a little bit early before our reservation time, so they gave us the option for us to wait in the bar area until our table was ready or wait on the main floor, we opted to wait in the bar so that we can get a sneakpeak on the views. They first take the intro photos with the background of the skyscraper (green screen type thing) before you head on up. Then we are off, the bar/lounge area is on the second to top floor of the tower, below the bar is the restaurant area. We probably spent about 15-25 mins before we got a text saying that our table was ready. Drinks while we were waiting, hubby got a beer and I wanted to try one of their concoctions, I opted for their "Butterfly Effect" which is basically Casamigos Blanco Tequila, Combier Orange Liqueur, butterfly pea flower brew. It was basically like a mini show itself from the bartender! She was really nice and great at explaining what was going in the drink itself! It was also really tasty! Added bonus! Once we got seated to our table area, we actually got a corner table area, looked a little confined at first, but it wasn't too bad! I had to try and remember to not put my arm on the side since the wall was moving (slowly). The view is definitely nice! It rotates 360 degrees in a slow pace. Our server Vivian, who was on it and very nice! Helped with some suggestions on what to order. She was also prompt! Definitely enjoyed her! We got their: Coconut Crunchy Shrimp - it was good, but not outstanding and for 5 pieces of average sized shrimp for the price, not sure about it being worth it. Parmesan Crusted Chicken - came with mashed potatoes and capers: my husband's meal, which he thought was good. I didn't have any so I can't say on my end on how it tasted. Lobster + Shrimp Roll: I thought it was good! Lots of chunks of meat mixed with their mayo sauce dressing and some chopped celery as well. Also came with side of fries (it wasn't a lot of fries, maybe a cup of it at most?) Lava cake: we got lucky and someone didn't want it so we were able to get it quicker than 30 mins! Unfortunately, it only came slightly warm, not hot, the ice cream didn't even melt and when I tried to pierce into the middle, there wasn't much of this "lava" from this cake. It was ok to me. I did a candle to help me celebrate my birthday. For a "elevated" food experience I guess I was expecting a little more, but overall it was ok. For the view itself was already a nice touch. First date night of 2026! Got a baby sitter and everything. Show up to a long line to check in...then a looooooong wait for the elevator and then while we came here and see the views of San Antonio only to hear the restaurant doesn't spin during construction. Oh well...went for happy hour, only to find out no happy hour food on the weekends...oh well. The first course was the fondue - and it was great. Very creamy with a decent amount of shrimp. Even my wife liked it. We did catch an AMAZING moon rise which probably made up for the not spinning restaurant. Then the bread service was great - 3 different kinds, nice varied tastes of bread. Then for main course we split the filet and calamari - filet was VERY tender. Excellent consistency, I thought it was a tad over cooked for medium rare, but my wife actually prefers that so it worked out. The potato's aren't anything to write home about. The calamari was a HUGE plate...but the flavor was missing. I don't know if I wanted more sauce or a different sauce. It was well fried but bland. Lastly we split a lava cake. I hate toffee but I didn't get it for me. It was fine...there was no lava in it. I don't know if it was overcooked or if it's not supposed to have lava... Our server - Kylina (s/p?) was super sweet and attentive and really made up for any of the disappointing parts of the food. Came here for dinner with friends to the magical dinner viewing spot for sunset at the bar with friends from New Orleans. Its a great place to bring guests from out of town for a unique experience. The shrimp and pasta that came with the flounder was completely flavorless. Based on other reviews, this is a common experience. Servers were very pleasant and responsive, but clearly young and inexperienced. Not to say they got anything wrong, but they did not have the composure of wait staff at an upscale restaurant, which Chart House tries to present itself as. I also didn't appreciate them hawking the photo they took of us on the ground level while we were trying to eat our food. I honestly find it a marvel that this upscale restaurant can operate so high up in the air. Take a minute to appreciate how challenging it must be to deliver fresh fish and beef to these heights on a regular basis! I more frequently visit Bar 601 at the Tower because the happy hour is very reasonably priced and tasty. If you just want a great view and a few this to eat and drink, the 601 is the way to go. However, for a longer meal and a luxury experience, the Chart House has never disappointed me. The cocktail menu is a bit sweet for my taste, but our waiter anticipated this. When I started to order the Not "Old" Fashioned, he explained that he could make me a regular Old Fashioned if that's what I would prefer. I took his recommendation, and it was an outstanding drink--a perfect accompaniment to the fresh oysters that we had as an appetizer. The oysters remind me of ones I have had in Virginia, which I mean as a big compliment. Good seafood supplier! And at these heights! I still cannot get over it. I've noticed a few complaints about the speed of service. I'll agree that it's not the speediest, but I have never minded taking my time with a meal there. My Chilean Seabass over Lobster Risotto was the kind of meal I had to savor. The fish was soft and buttery. My husband's steak was a perfect medium rare. Our waiter had excellent wine recommendations, and it felt like we could just take our time and enjoy the view. If you don't have a reservation, they can often seat you at a table at the bar, and there are still excellent views to be had. My in-laws regularly get me a gift certificate here, and it's just the perfect indulgence. The Tower of the Americas is a beautiful landmark, and the Chart House is deserving of its place at its heart. read more

Disappointed in the food and the service! It was all about the view! We were there for 2.5 hours celebrating our granddaughter's birthday. Everything came out one at a time each 10 to 15 minutes apart. Kids meals ordered first, kids drinks without straws ( each time another 10 minutes until straws came) ice tea but no sweetener... back to kitchen. One kids meal back to kitchen, one drink back to the kitchen... ( rinse and repeat) An hours for appetizers again one at a time... another hour for entrees... Everything seemed to be soggy or overcooked or just sat under the food lights too long. Best thing was dessert.. lava cake. Our server was sweet. She just seemed like she needed assistance. Hamburger was horrible, Mac and cheese - good. Bouilliase broth good but scallop was rubbery, Ribeye was good, black cod was sitting under lights and vegetables that came with it seemed drowning and not fresh. The view is nice... However. The service is horrible. Had to be asking multiple times for my drink which mind you was only a regular coke & water refills. The food took forever one if the salads was not brought till after the did had arrived which we sent back. It was a large party but still it was very delayed and it was not busy at all. After our portion of the ticket came, had to walk to the front and had the hostess get someone to close it out so we can leave. Spent alot of time just waiting for ticket or refills on our drinks. Was really looking forward to coming here to celebrate New Year's Eve. We have been wanting to do this for a few years now and finally decided that this was the year. Great parking at the Alamodome with a bumpy ride on a shuttle brought us right to the front door of the tower of the Americas. Beautiful place with beautiful views, and the appetizer seafood tower was really good. Kind of downhill from there though. The entrées were cold and the desserts ran out. The rotating restaurant that I was looking forward to experiencing as part of the fireworks show stopped about 20 minutes before midnight due to fire marshal rules. I did not have great expectations for the food, but feel like it was still underwhelming even compared to my low standards. I would think twice about doing this again because it was crazy expensive to get here and experience this, but the fireworks were amazing! My husband and I tried Chart House at Tower of the Americas for our anniversary. The customer service and ambiance were impeccable. Our server José was very patient, kind and accommodating. The manager was very nice and talked to me while I was trying to capture pictures of the sunset. Bring sunglasses if you go to catch the sunset because the sun will be in your eyes periodically as you rotate on the platform. We LOVED being able to experience the 360 degree view of San Antonio, but we both felt the motion sickness as soon as we arrived at our table (I felt it much more than he did). The platform makes one full rotation in roughly an hour, maybe less... I think I'd prefer half that speed, but now that I know, I can plan better for our next visit. The appetizers were the best part of our meal. We got the calamari (maybe best we've ever had) and the ahi tuna. It appears that we chose the wrong time to visit because the only option for entrees was a 3 course meal for $79 a person and the options seemed limited. I'm little so usually I just eat an appetizer as my meal, but since it seemed customary, I tried to keep up with all of the courses. My husband got the Caesar salad to start and said it was great. I got lobster bisque which was delicious. Then, for the 2nd course, I got the twin lobster tails with veggies and my husband got the Chilean sea bass over lobster risotto. The meals were ok (I think his may have been better than mine), but nowhere near as good as the appetizers. I wasn't blown away by my veggies due to a lack of seasoning and an earthy grit, BUT I was so full and didn't think to smother them with the melted butter--- that'll probably improve them. I'd like to go back when there is a normal menu with more flexibility and options, and when I won't have to order a starter and dessert on top of the entree and any other appetizers we decide to share. The drinks were great! I got the pomegranate martini and my husband got a bright ale (?) like an ipa (?). Anyway, we will definitely keep this place in mind for another special dinner out, especially when family comes to visit. read more

If I could place a zero star on this place I would. The meats were over cooked, but we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for the recook for a rare to medium rare pieces of meat. This place has gone down hill for the past three years, today tops it that we will NOT come here any more. This is not to say that the service has gone down hill, so very slow. So sad! read more

We are in San Antonio with another couple for 5 nights. Our rental apartment is literally across the street of Chart House. The restaurant is high atop the Tower of the Americas. Getting to the restaurant on the single working elevator was an ordeal that I have already described in a previous review. While that experience was frustrating, when the elevator door opened we were greeted with a magnificent night view of San Antonio. It was breathtaking. We were seated promptly at a table right next to the windows. The views are spectacular. Our server was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We were happy with the menu choices and several of us settled on the price fixe $55 meal. I chose the 10oz Prime Rib, Chopped Salad with balsamic vinegar dressing and mashed potatoes. The meat was cooked to my medium rare preference. The prime rib was not very tender though and my jaws got a good workout chewing through it. The mashed potatoes were perfect and it was a good but not exceptional meal. I felt that prices were extremely reasonable particularly considering the setting. I felt like it was a good value. I was a bit miffed that they charge an additional $12 per person to go to the observation deck level even though we dined at Chart House. This was a birthday celebration meal for me and my meal included a mini lava cake but the waitress also presented me with a dish of ice cream with birthday candle in it. A very nice gesture. We had a lovely meal, a relaxing experience and enjoyed amazing views. One tip is if you are sensitive to the motion of the rotating restaurant (roughly 50 minutes per revolution) sit so you facing the direction of movement. read more

I think the only thing I like about this restaurant was Derek! He was Curtious. Friendly and funny. Reservations where made at 8 pm and we got a table at 8:50 pm We ordered our food and it was brought to our table close to 10 pm. We had a reservation at 7:45 for 12 people. We arrived at the base of the Tower of the Americas at 7:00. Our thought was that we would grab a drink at the bar before dinner and maybe go up to the observation deck. We were told that we couldn't go up to the restaurant until 7:45. At 7:30, 6 of us were allowed to go up. When we arrived at the restaurant the bar area was completely empty. Two bartenders were standing there with nothing to do. The rest of our party arrived 15 minutes later. The food was terrible. Two of us sent our steaks back because they were inedible. The waitstaff were very nice as was the manager. The views were amazing for sure. Unfortunately, the poor food quality and hassle getting to the restaurant made this a one time event. I will NOT be going back. read more

There's something to be said when you're sitting 750 ft up, rotating around a single pillar, what's more is you get to eat while doing so! Obviously the experience starts out as "elevated" however will the dining experience of Chart House equal the few? Let's find out shall we? The parking is plentiful around Chart House and it's in a safe part of town, close to the Spurs stadium and river walk. As I waited on the elevator, I thought to myself if I had too many cocktails this would be brutal as I waited for 10 minutes. That said, I have a few minutes until my reservation so my date and I stopped at the bar for a round. The bar is perched above the dining area in a mahogany wood nest area. The hostess then led us to our table which was right against the window. Public service announcement to not leave your drink on the ledge or you won't see it for 30 minutes which is roughly the time it takes to do a 360. I hate starting out like this buy my waiter wasn't very good. I suppose part of the issue is that I'm a former chef so I know items are so when I inquired to the server "out of curiosity what is the kim chee calamari?" He boldly responded it was a sauce oblivious to the fact kim chee is traditional Korean fermented cabbage. That said, I sent him away to grab two glasses of wine. He returned with a pinot grigio even though I ordered a pinot noir and the calamari app, that I was inquiring about but never ordered. Enough about my less than stellar waiter, let me focus on the food. After the wine caper, I enjoyed the Erath Pinot Noir as a decent medium bodied red. It had a nose of black cherry that rolls of the palate quickly and hints of herbs. As for the app, I loved the coconut shrimp. 8 perfectly cooked shrimp studded with coconut burst in the mouth with three sauces to chose from. I found the coconut sauce bland and redundant but the citrus chili offered a small nudge of heat to compliment the sweet and the soy ginger sauce gave it a nice salt kick. As for the Caesar salad I was extremely let down. The dressing had zero pop as I don't believe it had anchovies in it and lacked parmesan shavings. It literally had no elevated elements to redeem the experience. The main course, changed courses if you pardon the pun. The broccolini and fingerling potatoes were crisp yet perfectly cooking and had just the right amount of butter along with S&P. The salmon had the perfect among of cedar flavor coming up from the grilled plank while the teriyaki glaze kept it moist as it was cooked to perfection. I got the rare prime rib and I'm here to tell you if I didn't have a date I would have fell in love. The 10 oz were perfectly cooked and had plenty of fat marbled throughout the meat accompanied by wonderful jus and horseradish sauces that I alternated dunking. The rustic style mashed spuds were good but I prefer whipped with no skins. Still the flavor and execution were near perfect. As for the chocolate lava cake, I honestly can't say b/c without being hyperbolic my better half destroyed it before I had a single bite, literally. Later in the evening I inquired about the experience and she admitted it was phenomenal. There's a lesson out there, fight for that bite! Overall I enjoyed my experience at Chart House. While the service was off and the salad was pedestrian, the view and the rest of the menu items shined as the morning sun. Chart house can be best described as an "elevated" experience yet grounded when going against those with high expectations. For the most part the price is on point so I would strongly suggest trying this place out when in San Antonio. read more

Came for their amazing Happy Hour and....its no longer happening. As you take the long ride up the elevator it still tells you to look forward to Happy Hour so...maybe update that? Well, at least we can get a spinning view right? Wrong, the restaurant is under renovations and doesn't spin. Went for brunch, service was excellent. We had the lobster/ shrimp roll and prime rib French dip both were good fries however were quite lackluster.
