Once again, I arrived early for a reservation at The Preston. So I had time to kill and killed it at the Chase Club bar. It was Christmas and there were a lot of visitors drinking and eating at the Chase Club. I checked with the host before entering, to make sure it was okay for me to sit at the bar. He assured me, it was. I found a stool at the end of the bar and was quickly greeted by the bartender. My drink of choice is a, Tito's Extra Dry Martini with a Lemon Twist. I typically ask the bartender to, "make it skate". I forgot to make that request and to my surprise when my drink arrived, it had tiny ice chips floating across the top. Winner! My martini went down smoothly and I still had time to wait before my reservation. The lady next to me had a mimosa with grapefruit, so I had one of those, too. I also ordered their Pretzel Sticks. They were three super soft pretzels and came with a brown mustard and pub cheese. It was a good nosh to enjoy while drinking. The service was attentive and good for Christmas Day. Has been a long time since I have been to the bar at the Chase but met a friend for a movie here and we wanted to visit. I was hungry and we went through the menu. Decided to share the CWE French dip and the Drunken Mushroom flat bread. We could have done with less food (that sandwich would have been plenty and it was yummy) but we both agreed we were happy we got both. The flavors of the flat bread were really good. Maybe it was the Gruyère. Whatever it was, it was yummy and we had half to take home! The server recommended both so props were given and well deserved. It was really busy for a Sunday evening, thinking there was likely an event on site with folks choosing a detour too. Update from 2017, still a strong Cocktail and Meal option inside of The Chase in CWE. This past Sunday, dropped in around 8p after attending an event and was able to grab a seat at the bar and quickly served. Buffalo Trace with splash of white soda and the Smashed Burger with fries. I'll admit I haven't been inside the chase since I was an adolescent. Randomly came here on a whim after visiting another establishment in the CWE. It is tucked away in part of the hotel. When we arrived yhr hostess greeted us with a smile and we asked if we could sit at the bar. She said it was okay and we proceeded to find two seats at the end. This was a Friday night and their was some live band playing some nice tunes in the corner of this place. The bartenders are nice and friendly. We ordered a sour whisky and a truly hard setzler. He is genuine, fast, knows his drinks, and makes you feel like you've been coming here for years, even if it's your first visit. The drinks were too shelf. The espresso martinis were strong & perfectly balanced. Not too sweet, not too bitter. The whiskey selection was impressive. If you like options, they've got them all. Jack knew his way around every bottle and even recommended a pour I'd never tried that instantly became a new favorite. Pro tip: ORDER THE OLD FASHIONED! On top of that, pricing was more than reasonable for the level of quality we got. The band playing that night was phenomenal (live music that actually elevates the vibe instead of overpowering it.) And yes, the TVs actually had sports on. (Shocking how rare that is these days) All in all, Chase Club gets 5 stars, but if I could give Jack a 10, I would. The Chase Club is wonderful. They have an outdoor space overlooking the swimming pool. They also have one of the largest bars to pull up a stool to. That is where my husband and I always sit. The food is exceptional and the service (even though it was crowded) was excellent. After ordering our cocktails, we looked over the menu. We decided to share the tempura fried shrimp. It came with a delicious remoulade sauce for dipping which was excellent. After seeing another patron get the CWE dip, we decided to get it and share. Great idea. When it came out, they had already put it on two plates with fries. Both the sandwich and fries were delicious. Would I come back here? Of course! Just like many hotel restaurants it is a smorgasbord of flavors which is always 1) intimidating and 2) confusing. Is it italian, american, mexican, asian, etc. I was quite unsure of the intended direction of the menu. The food tasted good. It is a meal that gets the job done. You won't yearn to go back, and you won't remember the meal in 3 weeks. But, in the moment, the flavors are good and you're satiated. My friend ordered the smash burger with fries and there were 2 separate cuts of french fries which seemed strange. They came from 2 separate bags, lol. I got a CWE dip (french dip) and it was good. The bacon jam was an interesting addition. I can't decide if the sweetness it added was enjoyable. The pineapple and shrimp flatbread was another interesting dish. I thought the flatbread was good, but the crema with the feta I think was a miss for me personally. I did get a spring forward cocktail which was more balanced than expected. I did not anticipate the rye working with the cucumber that well. The raspberry riot (basically a raspberry margarita) was not balanced. Could have just been a fluke drink that did not quite get diluted enough or maybe an ingredient measurement was off. It tasted of straight tequila. The service was good. I like the Chase Club as a brunch option in the central west end. They have considerably improved since they recently changed their chef/menu up. The service here is always decent, slower at times, but there are plenty of good food options. They now have a good selection of burgers, an elevated french dip, and tomato soup with grilled cheese (which is great). The wings are excellent, but the "fajita mac and cheese" is not very mac and cheese. Its a little spicy so if you dont like spice you wont like it but more than anything it is VERY fajita and more mexican than mac. Imagine mac and cheese with a package of taco seasoning in it. If that sounds good, you will like it. The only thing I do not enjoy are the breakfast potatoes which are very big and therefore not crispy and more like potato quarters than anything. It does have a bit of a "hotel restaurant" feel especially during lunch hours, most of the crowd seem to be hotel guests. Never hard to get a seat which can't be said about most CWE lunch spots. In the evening before COVID they did have live music regularly and in the later hours it would definitely fill up with a fun late night crowd. Nice combo of flavors and textures, will be getting this regularly. Great spot to meet up with family from out of town and those coming directly from work for a late December holiday dinner! The lobby was exquisitely decorated for the holiday & we captured amazing family photos. The Chase Club bar is striking, but we were seated in a very plain side room that didn't feel special at all. Perhaps because we had a reservation for a party of 5? Maybe the high tops in the dramatic bar don't accommodate 5? Seating was disappointing (we did have a TV with some bowl games on), but it was private with no one else seated there, & quiet enough for us to chat & catch up as a family, which was what mattered most. Had a window with a nice view of the Christmas tree out front, despite the dirty window. Food was good. The best was the lamb chop lollipops- delicious! We came here for pre-Mother's Day brunch (not to be confused by actual Mother's Day brunch - we're a fan of pre-parties for our parties in this family) and had a pretty decent time! Waiter was very friendly and recommended the bottomless mimosas for brunch which I unfortunately had to decline because I would have been the only one at the table drinking that many mimosas and I wasn't ready that early in the day to be judged quite that hard. Drinks: - Hope Floats - I got this for my first drink and it was good! A little heavy due to the cabernet floater for daytime hours but very tasty. - Elderdog - Loved this one! Light and fruity and delicious. Food: - Shrimp & Avocado Salsa - This was by far the best thing we had during our visit! If you have more than 3 people or so I'd recommend getting 2 since it's not very big but it was crazy fresh-tasting and not too heavy. I got the chase dip. It was very food, the bread was tasty and it was prepared well. I enjoy French dips so this was on par with a great tasting French dip.
