Wow this was the cutest restaurant with an amazing ambiance. It's dimly lit and perfect for date night. They have a good selection of wines on their menu, and when it comes to food, lots of options for traditional French fare. To start, we had the beef tartare, which was topped with an egg yolk. It was delicious! We loved how balanced the other ingredients like capers and onions were, and the beef was a great texture. For my main, I had the Coq au Vin, which was superb! Great flavor on the sauce, and the chicken was exceptionally tender, it came right off the bone. I also got to try a bite of the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and served with a fantastic lemon cream sauce. Service was super friendly and attentive as well! The food came out relatively quickly too, which is appreciated. Definitely will be added to the rotation of restaurants in the area for a cozy and delicious dinner. read more

After coming here for years, it's truly sad to see how one bad apple can spoil a bunch. I was served a drink with a dead fly floating in it. When I asked for a new one, I was first offered to have the fly taken out of it and returned. I was then offered another drink and told it would be on the bill. While I understand the need to explore exotic cultures, I wasn't particularly in the mood for a fly smoothie. Nor to have to debate the staff on having said item removed, either the fly or the contaminated drink. Attitude from the manager on site topped off the experience far from pleasantly. I walked in and asked if there was a seat for 1 at the bar , the bartender pointed to 1 of many open seats . I excitedly sat at the bar alone as a recent young widow . I ordered a seltzer with lime and he then said i had to order alcohol or i had to leave . I explained i couldnt drink . He said it was going to be too busy because of the game and i had to leave ! I was willing to spend 20 dollars for water just so i could stay , he said again i had to leave ! Little did he know how that. Affected me as a new widow! I stood outside as no one took those seats for a solid hour . As a follow up i called today to see if patrons could sit at the bar and order non alcoholic drinks and he said " of course" . I stopped in to speak to the owner named Rock and was shocked to learn that he was the horrific bartender. Funny thing is you never know who people are. Good think i took pictures and filmed the exchange. I live in the neighborhood and will warn everyone i know about the owners rude behavior and no i see all the bad reviews . You have been warned !!! All of the food was fabulous! My boyfriend took me out for a nice birthday dinner and picked this wonderful spot. The food was very reasonable for the portions, amazing service, and atmosphere. We started off with the melon prosciutto which was very flavorful and the perfect appetizer to pair with some wine. My boyfriend ordered the magret de canard which he said was delicious. I ordered the coq au riesling which came with some pasta. The chicken was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I loved the sauce that it came with, it worked perfectly with the pasta and mushrooms. For desert we had the fondant au chocolat, which quite literally felted in our mouths. We both ate up the whole thing pretty quickly, despite being so full from our entrees. This spot was very romantic and intimate. The service was superior and the owner was very friendly! It wasn't too loud or crowded inside either. I'm looking forward to coming back soon! read more

Great ambience excellent little updated French bar bistro vibe. The service is OK but we are waiting a long time for the main courses. The appetizer, the beet salad, came out quickly and was very good. Fresh beets along with a beautifully robust vinaigrette that clung to each piece of the salad. Mains arrived at the 37 minute mark and the short wait was worth it. My partners steak au poivre was amazing -better than anything he had in Paris as he said. It was served beautifully warm and with wonderfully crispy potatoes, fried and duck fat. I had the duck breast and while it was good, my plate was just tepid in temperature. My plate was served with fresh sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes and the mashed potatoes were pretty cold. So that is why I am deducting a star. There's also an aperol spritz priced at $11. I think it's every day til 7pm! The food is solid as well. We did the salmon tartine to start, which was really amazing though on the smaller side for the price. The mussels and fries were fantastic too. The mussels were very tasty and the fries were fried and seasoned to crispy perfection. Though the amount of soup left at the bottom is a bit lacking. The mushroom risotto was pretty good, though could have used some more cheese or something to make it slightly more savory. It's good but just missing a little something. Wines were also pretty solid. I enjoyed the pinot noir and my wife enjoyed her rose. Even at full price per bottle, many starting at $52 and up, it's still worth it to dine here! read more

I was having such a nice time enjoying a happy hour with my girlfriends after a long day at work when our waiter told us to quiet down. It was only 6 PM on a Tuesday, and we were simply laughing about something as harmless as our Costco delivery--nothing vulgar or inappropriate. I was very disappointed by this, especially since the rest of the restaurant was talking at a similar volume. We may look young, but the way this was handled felt rude and unfair. Charming quaint French cafe with a great neighborhood vibe, friendly efficient service and - perhaps most importantly - generous happy hour drink specials every day from 12:00 to 7:00, available at the bar and at table. My $7 pour of a very dry sauvignon blanc really hit the spot on a warm evening. The mussels in my pot of moules frites were plump, briny and scrumptious. If you like shepards pie you'll love their "Hachis Parmentier", nicely spiced chopped beef and veggies topped with a generous dollop of creamy mashed potatoes. Yum! Food was good (we got the tuna tartare and escargots for apps, branzino and steak au poivre for main entrees, and creme caramel aka flan and fondant au chocolat aka molten chocolate lava cake for desserts). I've been to better places, but this place is fine if you're in the area and want some French dining. The steak was prepared medium rare like we wanted and the escargots cream sauce was tasty. I am embarrassed to admit the number of times I passed this restaurant and never tried it. Was it worth the wait? Yes. I admit I would come back even for the bread! Decent happy hour specials. Came here for happy hour thinking that Aperol Spritzes were $9 but we were told they were not. That being said every day until 7pm they have wine on happy hour for $7 and beers for $6. The service here was great, as not only were our wine glasses always full but so were our water glasses. The wine was on point. A friend of mine had the lobster mac and cheese. Ok so this is a spot I have heard mentioned a few times and finally got a chance to dine at - make it your mission to go to Chateau 49 as soon as possible. The food totally blew me away. Went a few days back for a group event - and although the dining area is somewhat small we were very comfortable together. Rocco was awesome taking all of our orders quickly as well as making drinks almost instantaneously. We started with appetizers, the escargot was amazing, it was my first time having it anywhere and was happy to have tried it. Similarly, the grilled octopus was so good I couldn't even get a picture, it was gone so quickly. I have to say that the real deal superstar that will draw me back to Chateau 49 is the Risotto Champignons. I actually don't even like risotto in general (it's a texture issue, rice all day for me) and was completely hooked on the first bite. Make it your mission to get out there for it. My main plate was the steak au poivre, cooked medium but I sampled the chicken as well. Actually more than sampled, I just started stealing food is what it felt like it was so good. Finished the night with the fondant au chocolate as I'm a sucker for a good lava cake and a beignet. Legit can't wait to go back. When we were seated we were generally given a "sit wherever," but when we decided to sit closer to the back of the outdoor seating area (to give the other table of people a bit of space), we were told to come back up front without much of a reason. When we (politely) let the waitress know, someone who I believe was the owner came over to us with a general dismissive vibe. "The bread here is baked fresh in house every day, that's yeast." I have never seen gray yeast in my entire life and I mentioned that, but she didn't seem to care.
