I am big fan of chat. And I regularly visited this place. But yesterday was the last time to that place, only reason is prices....oh my god they have increased their prices. One plate pani puri will cost you $6, I mean are you serious does this mean 1 puri is $1. You need to reconsider getting those prices lowered if you want people to come often. I use to go there every week...and it's a shame that I will miss their pani puri but I need to watch my wallet too. Secondly it's utter waste of paper when they want us to write an order on the notepad, like even for one pani puri the lady wants us to write it on the note pad. What a waste of paper. read more

Tasty food, poor ambience. This restaurant has been working for at least 8 years now from what I hear and see in yelp reviews and this was my first visit. I was surprised to see that no matter what is ordered they are all served in very cheap disposable plates. You are expected to pick up the order when your name is called. And YOU clean the tables and fetch the water. Water? It's actually a refilled gallon jug that you have to pick up from the counter. It is run as a very cheap operation but prices are as high, if not higher, than competing and equally good chaat houses such as the Chaat places in Mowry avenue. And yet, they accept cash only. I had to put immediately this review to feel better. I just ordered food from this place. It was the worst Palak Paneer, the worst Yellow Daal, the worst Aloo beans I ever ate. It seems someone just experimented with the left over food. The Paneer pieces were very hard (seems like expired). Absolutely no taste. They used all the shortcuts possible like using puree. I have eaten here before and I do enjoy less oily food. But today they surprised me. Giving one extra star because they been great before. Good food... nice paranthas, sabji, chappatis, rice, palak saag. dal ok ok. good aloo tikki. Gol gappas had a funny oil taste. You can see lots of hard work going into making the food. But poor hospitality... they don't know how to treat customers. We were a group of 8 people and on asking for a bit of pickle the aunty behind the counter gave it reluctantly! it is normally, always a usual free accompaniment in Indian food. The place needs to have more 'heart' that anyone serving indian food has. On ordering food the attitude was - OK but wait. she was sort of rude.. i think she didnt know any better maybe. But c'mon u are running a restuarant! Bad plates too, paper plates soaking getting coloured with the curry. Good food.. but not a very enjoyable experience. This place should be reported to the authorities. Cash only even if your bill is $40. What that means is that they pay 0 income tax. And tax my dear friends is what pays for roads, libraries, schools etc. It is also extremely costly for a hole in the wall that is cash only. $5 for a Alu paratha that costs $2.99 at other places. $8 for pav bhaji that costs $5.99 at other places. Well spicy is not necessary food filled with Mirchi. They use lot of Mirchi for food. Service is bad and that place is very unhygienic. This place is just a hype. Pani puri's have nothing in them except for channa and the so called spicy sauce. They have all the ingredients needed for Pani puri displayed just for show and nothing actually goes inside the puri they serve. Wait time is just ridiculous. The lady who was supposed to serve our order made us wait for 30 mins and when we reminded her of the order she was like your order went at the last , just now we noticed and ppl are making your food. What the hell lady. Am not sure why they have this ridiculous and absurd system of writing our order in a paper for it to just get lost with the previous orders.They have so many ppl working there but no work gets done efficiently. I'm not Indian, but I am a proud resident of the Tri-city and I'd like to consider myself an honorable Indian. My wife and I frequent many Indian restaurants in the area since it's our favorite cuisine. Recently an Indian friend introduced us to CPC. God bless this woman because we've found the holy grail... At least when it comes to snacks/chaats/puris. We really only come here for one thing - sevpuri. We are absolutely addicted. We've tried puris from other great Indian restaurants all around the Bay but none compare to this. Their sevpuri is fresh, crispy, savory, and homemade down to the individual ingredient - all made with pride and love by the owners mother. The family is so sweet and friendly. read more

I came here 4 years ago, it was amazing. Today, I came to the Bay Area to visit family and we trekked all the way here in hopes of finding delicious Indian street food. It is by far the worst Indian food I have had. The pani puri was tasteless and flimsy. The samosas were burnt and stale, the puris for chaat were musty and smelly. They take only cash, and this place is not cheap. Never coming back here. Who charges $1 per stale puri? Yuk! One more thing did not like at this place is about cash only option. It is better to take cash when the order is placed so that you are aware of the cash you are carrying in. So I had never had pani puri before - I went to Chat Patta Corner with VERY high expectations - I've concluded that it's one of those things that I need to try more than once at more than one place. It was good, but not at all what I was expecting. The other dishes we had, however, were excellent. We went to this location rather than Dana Bazaar because we had our baby with us, and I knew they had no seating there. The place was clean, and I gotta knock them for the styrofoam as well, and you do have to bus your own tables. But it's super casual so not a big deal. The woman making the chaat was very helpful - I told her it was my husband's first time having Indian food and she suggested (no idea the proper names) but what was basically potato curry with some naan type bread, and then a garbanzo bean dish which was rather sweet with a puffy bread. Both were excellent, especially dipped in the yogurt. The woman was very nice and put some yogurt in a bowl for the baby so he could eat while we were waiting and didn't charge for it. Back to the pani puri - maybe someone will 'splain. So I opted to not stand there and eat, but take back to our table. Maybe that was my mistake. I think it would have been better if the little puffy things were hot, rather than room temp. All that aside, I will definitely go back and try more things on the menu. read more

She was really rude to my friend and accused us for not being "clear" with our order. She gave us a lecture on "how to write clearly". I used to like their food and frequented the place quite a bit, but had a humiliating experience a while ago. We were a group of five (me, my spouse, in-laws and my toddler daughter). We'd ordered a few thalis. I heard my name being called. I went to the counter and brought back a thali. Just when we were about to dig in, the owner came to our table and yelled at me for getting the wrong plate/order. Their thalis look pretty similar and if I was picking up someone else's order, they should've alerted my while I was at the counter. All of this feels too small a thing to yell at a customer for. The owner never apologized for yelling and I felt quite embarrassed in front of my in-laws. Another customer in the next seat (mansplaining) told me how Indian elders are like this only and how we should be forgiving. The food was good, but my dignity felt more important. I never visited the place after that. It's been three years and the place is a mile away from my house, but I still remember the hurtful incident and never go there. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet - I'm a very happy regular. By far the best chat I have ever had. The ladies that run ths place and Chat Corner in Dana Bazaar set the bar to which I compare all others. Very few come close. The Sev Puri and Bhel Puri are particular favorites (so fresh, crunchy and perfectly combined) but I haven't tried anything on the menu that hasn't been seriously tasty. Watch for the twinkle in the eye when one of the ladies asks if you want spicy... She seems so sweet, the auntie you always wanted, but there's definitely a sadisitic streak there! I Iove spicy food but can only manage medium. Spicy is vocanic and only for those with fire retardant innards. The falooda is a wonderful sweet treat that cools the fire. Like many great Indian places, it's about the food not the location or decor, but I almost forgot to mention those as I'm thinking about the food.... read more

Best Pani Puri I have had in the area! Pani puri is worth the trip to Fremont. For jain pani puri they will put garbanzo beans. Also they can make other chaat jain too. I like raj kachori, chchole kachori, dahi puri among others. They have traditional roti sabji as well which they can cook jain. Its cash only place, so make sure you have cash with you. Customer service- what's that? Doesn't exist here! Good food- definitely does. This place is a definite to go in the fremont area for chaat, and especially their pani puris. You know from their service model when you dine in that food is made fresh and served. Don't look too close though, you may find people sleeping and inhabiting the kitchen in ways that may dampen your appetite for indian street/home food. Expect good taste, hot food. Don't expect them to smile or be curteous. The ambience here is also poor, clearly their focus being, "our food is good, who cares about the customer or the decor". Yeah, hole in the wall. They also don't accept cards, and are cash- only (reminds me of the time when I asked the lady for my total bill and she asked me to add and multiply from the menu myself. Typical!). Me and my bf walked in today. No greet or acknowledgment. I read the little sign that too on the side of the wall where it could easily go unnoticed " cash only" . That is suspicious as hell! They are probably avoiding tax or it shouldn't even be in operation! And my bf asked this one lady that was there "'is there any ATM around here?" She completely ignored him and then my bf repeated it and then she said " what! " like really rudely and then he asked again about ATM and she then just said next door!!!! Food is good, but what's the point of service is equally pathetic! Never ever come here on weekends, unless you are ok to wait an hour or so. The Chat at this place suck. TO start with : The Sev puri didnt have any filling just the sour tamarind chutney all over the puris. The kachori didnt taste like Raj Kachori but just full of potatoes. The pani puri was okayish .Even After mentioning that want it to be on the sweet side it was too sour and spicy. The chole was full of acidity prone spices. I guess the water container doesnot get get cleaned either.It is just simply refilled. I would never recommend going to this place. Its a waste of time money and fuel and leads to heavy acidity.
