    Golden Temple Soup

This place has been a staple of mine for years - I always come here with my mum whenever we are on the island. The branding changed recently, but they still carry many of the same classics that kept us coming back. You absolutely need to try the Golden Temple Soup (turmeric), it is a comfort for me in the fall and winter months! And if you love it as much as I do.. they even sell frozen broth which you can make up at home. I would recommend the rice noodle rolls as well with bean curd. The candlelit soup broth is also delicious. I have been meaning to try more of their offerings, but I always come back to my fan favourite the Golden Temple!

#8 Rice Fields Bowl & Coconut Shake

This was so good! I had the #8 Rice Fields Bowl and a Coconut Shake. Pictures and menu description do not do justice to how flavourful the bowl was. Besides the delicious sauce and noodles, I really liked what a wide variety of fresh vegetables the bowl contained. I'm not sure if the included cup of broth was meant to be added to the bowl or drank on its own, but I thought it was nice to sip on as a warm side. It was very fragrant. The coconut shake was also very tasty even though my personal preference would have been for it to be a little less sweet. It's still not as sweet as a lot of commercially available drinks, I just like things with minimal sugar. The shake is made with natural, minimally processed ingredients and it shows in the fresh coconut taste. It was cool that it contained big chunks of coconut meat even though some of them were hard to drink directly from the bottle - I had to use my chopsticks on some of them, but I was able to get everything out. The price is quite good for the value. The portions for the bowls are big (I finished the whole thing without feeling like I was stuffing myself, but was totally satisfied after), and the food is really fresh and high quality. I paid less for the bowl than I've paid for many smaller and less impressive meals at sit-down restaurants. The staff here were very pleasant as well. I notice a lot of vendors in the market will try to get me to order when I'm just browsing, even from a distance, but these people gave me space until I actually walked up to the register and made eye contact which I really appreciated. Definitely give this place a try if you go to the market often!

Yum! Healthy and delicious. We were filming on Granville Island and I wanted something healthy and wholesome for the crew. Learned that CHAU has a spot in the market. Called in advance to place our order. The staff was friendly and smart. I called back to add more items before a crew member picked up our meals. A different person picked up but totally knew which order I was referring to. Impressed with their system they use for orders. I was left feeling great that my order will be perfect. The packing job was fantastic, cutleries neatly packed in a bag with napkins too. Food was amazing. We had #11 - if you like coconut milk + fish sauce this is a must have. I also ate #13, love the sauce and the veggies in this rice bowl. Ordered my all time favourite salad rolls. The best in town, better than the ones with shrimps or pork. Lastly, got those addictive taro chips. Ok, it is all in that dip!!!!

Eat here Vegans! My son and I were in Vancouver and since he is now Vegetarian, finding restaurants that are truly good has become a veritable quest for us. Chau Veggie does not disappoint! I had a Rickety Rickshaw Bowl, #10, the with spring roll, lettuce, carrots cute, vegan fish sauce dressing, and peanuts and my son had 17, Golden Temple soup-a hearty curry and coconut milk soup with broccoli, tofu and noodles. Lots of fresh, fresh, fresh choices!! Happy dance!

Power salad bowl and vegetarian spring rolls with vegetarian not-fish sauce. These tasted great, and the bowl was a nice filling portion!

My sister and I tried this place while we were visiting Granville Island. We were positively surprised by the taste and the texture of the food - the spring rolls were crunchy and delicious, and came with a "fish" sauce with vegetarian ingredients that worked surprisingly well. I also had the power salad, and really enjoyed the coconut dressing and the proportions of the different ingredients in the bowl (I'm not the biggest fan of salad bowls when they're mostly leaves). The portions are quite respectable as well. Unfortunately, it must be said that the Granville Island Public Market food court is a really difficult place to eat. We were there at lunchtime on a Thursday and spent about 20 minutes hovering around looking for seats, and the space is loud and highly cramped in general. I feel bad dinging a point from Chau Veggie for something that isn't their responsibility, but it really does make me want to plan to eat elsewhere next time I'm in the area.

I remember my workplace getting catering from here awhile back and I fell in love with their Taro chips! The decor inside is cute. They have a separate bar and the drinks look really good (it was New Years so I was too hungover to try any of their drinks). I tried their turmeric curry, it was savoury with TONS of veggies. It's not really "light" though, more on the heavy curry side.if you get it, try it with rice noodles! The salad roll was Good too the lemon vegan dip is delicious. My partners rainforest green bowl was really good! Would highly recommend this place.

    Coconut shake. Absolutely delicious!!!

We waited 20 minutes and watched everyone in back of us get served 1st. Ended up getting a refund after losing our appetite.

There was only one family ahead of me when I entered, who was asking questions about bean recommendations. The person at the order counter was really helpful providing them with good information. When it was my turn to order, it was quick since I had already selected beans that I wanted to purchase, and my oat latte. Option was asked if I wanted to dine in or takeout, and I went with the latter. After I got my drink, I took a seat on one of the benches they have outside the store. There's also a decent amount of indoor seating and an outdoor patio section in front of the store. Not my first time trying Nemesis since I've been to Vancouver before, but definitely a reminder of why they are listed as one of the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops. If I wasn't so full from brunch, I would have also gotten one of their pastries. Seeing them all was very tempting.

The atmosphere is your typical done right coffee spot, lots of wood and a modern feel. It's thoughtfully designed without losing that comfortable neighborhood coffee shop quality. They have lots of tables for chilling or to get work done. I've stopped by a few different times and have always had a good experience, both with the coffee and the service. It's become one of those places I make a point of visiting whenever I'm in Vancouver.

The homemade jam was truly exceptional -- so delicious and clearly made with so much care. I loved it so much that, in their extraordinary generosity, they even let me take some home. From the hostess to the manager, and especially the wonderful waiter, Anton, the kindness, warmth, and grace were unparalleled. There was such a genuine sense of care and attention throughout the morning, making the experience feel effortless and special. Maxine's is a beautiful reminder that when simple things are done exceptionally well, they can become truly memorable. A wonderful breakfast, a beautiful setting, and hospitality I won't soon forget. One thing noticeable about this restaurant is the lacking of plates. They used majority of their plates to serve the food on. However the food were served as finger foods and we were expected to hold our food in our hand. Somewhat strange. They also ran out of glasses during the party. The bartender couldn't even keep up with our drinks. Anyways other than the above. The event was a great event. I got the opportunity to try all four of their mocktails: - Blueberry Basil Lemonade - Mango Lavender Lemonade - Minty-Berry Sour - Pear Lavender Sour All their drinks were very fancy prepared and my favorite are the Minty-Berry Sour and the Blueberry Basil Lemonade. I also found that there is some inconsistency in the glass they serve it out of. The food was delicious as mentioned before. My favorite out of their finger foods were the grill cheese brisket. OMG that was really good. The other memorable items are the porkbelly and fried chicken. I think the fried chicken is one of their popular items on the menu served during brunch. The cheesecake at the end I got was very soft but flavorful. The cheeseburger slider was really good too. Overall I really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere and decor of the place was nice. The restaurant is very small. Because we were over 100 people, there was a wait for the 3 stalls in the bathroom. There was not enough tables and chairs for everyone to sit. I think the restaurant can comfortably maybe accommodate around 40 or 50 guests max. I will definitely be back again someday to try their brunch menu.

The burger itself was good, but nothing special. Their marshmallow latte just tasted like regular coffee with sweetener. We expected toasted marshmallow on top of the actual drink, so we were left disappointed. Something that I found to be inconvenient was that you had to order your burger at one section and order your drink at another. Making clients line up twice is an inconvenience. One upside is that they have dog friendly seating.
