We wanted a casual brunch/early lunch spot in Beverly Hills, and this was the perfect place. We appreciated their vegetarian options, although their sister vegan spot is right next door. We started off with an iced strawberry machta which was amazing. The strawberry puree they use was perfection. For our entrees, we split the egg and cheese croissant and their tofu bowl both of which were wonderful. The eggs err nice and fluffy with perfect amount of cheese mixed in, and the croissant was flaky perfection. The greens and delicious dressing were a nice addition. I do think the tofu bowl was the star of the show though. It's flavor profile was the perfect level of complexity. The tofu was marinated nicely and that avocado mango salsa was to die for. For a bakery cafe in Beverly Hills, this place is a complete joke and really doesn't deserve a spot here as it lacks hospitality. Upon walking in, there was no friendly "welcome" or general greeting despite the presence of 2 employees at the counter. OK fine, not a big deal... so I went up to the display cases to browse the various pastries they had available and view the drink menu. Finally, I was ready to order so I proceeded to the register area. An Indian lady was standing there too busy looking between the display case of pastries and her inventory log to mind my presence. I stood there for a good minute or 2 before she finally said, "ready to order?" Again, no greeting, just want to take my order and be done with me -- what a warm, touching expression. I put in my order - a croissant, cardamon bun and an iced latte. They handed my pastries quickly without offering to heat up the pastries. Fine, let's try them out "fresh" then, shall we?? ... 1. Croissant (1/5) As plain and dry as croissants can be. I can make croissants better than this. Heck, Costco's croissants will beat theirs by ten-fold. There's no buttery-ness to it. It's just dry and slightly flaky dough. 2. Cardamon Bun (2/5) It had a beautiful design, but the taste and texture were not good. First off, the bread itself was dry and stale. Secondly, they used too much yeast in this pastry as you can taste and smell the sourness of the yeast. There are also parts of the dough where it was sticky/underbaked. The cardamon flavor was subtle. 3. Iced Latte (2/5) The most simple and plain latte one can imagine. The espresso was extremely weak. It almost feels like you're drinking cold milk that's dyed slightly brown. Luckily, it was a hot day, so I still downed this drink. My experience with Chaumont ends here ... nice knowing your existence, but I won't be coming back, nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Don't waste your money here!! read more

Chaumont is a bakery that tempts your eyes and tastebuds from the moment you walk in. You see all the freshly baked goods on display from the door to the register. The coffe I tried was the Pistache .It has a Vanilla creme top on it with heavy creme but it it is so thick and strong that it sort of obliterated my palate rendering me unable to taste the pistachio. I highly recommend putting a straw in there to try the other flavors and mix to your liking rather than drink it from the cup. I would give it another shot the next time I am in the area but am rather caffeinated now. I loved the Za'tar Chicken Wrap. The chicken is panko crusted and flavored with Za'tar which is a spice blend containing Thyme often found in Middle Eastern Fare. They put arugula in the wrap and serve with an aoli. The flavors are divine. This place is walking distance from the Sirtaj where we stayed while in town for a wedding at the Four Seasons. We stopped here for a quick bite on Saturday, Unlike other places on Beverly Blvd , there were plenty of table available, the service was fast and staff were friendly. chaumont bakery was a pretty solid brunch spot, but the real star for me was easily the smoked salmon croissant sandwich. 10/10. it was filled with soft scrambled eggs, fresh smoked salmon, avocado and chive cream cheese, but honestly the croissant itself stole the show. so so sooo flaky, light, buttery, and just beautifully done. easily one of the best croissants i've had in a while. as for the other dishes, the chicken caesar wrap and chicken bowl were both just very average in comparison. the wrap wasn't your typical caesar wrap -- it used arugula, had a bit of spice, and didnt feel like a classic caesar. not bad, just not something i'd go out of my way to order again. same with the chicken bowl -- perfectly fine, but nothing especially memorable. i was too full to try the pastries this time, which honestly feels like a miss given how good the croissant was. but based on that alone, i'd definitely come back for the croissants. the interior was also super cute -- very dainty, european-inspired, and just had that charming little cafe feel. service was pretty quick, though it's mostly self-serve. read more

The quality of Chaumont has really gone downhill and the service has been terrible the last 2 times I was there. Pastries did not seem fresh the last couple visits- not like they used to be. Chaumont is my favorite pre-work spot when I am in town. The coffee is consistently good. Pastries are delicious. The favorites include the almond croissant and a latte with almond milk. I just came back from Paris and the pastries are comparable. It is definitely on the pricier side ($5 for a plain croissant...they were $3 in Paris...) so one star docked down. The staff is very friendly and will bring your pastry and coffee to you if having your item there. I tend to enjoy my items there and put in an hour or so of work before heading to the office. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in LA. When I used to live in Beverly Hills I would stop by every morning for a white chocolate mocha and a pastry. A legendary bakery in Beverley Hills, Chaumont bakes delicious French pastries daily and is well-renowned for their quality. I had gotten many recommendations from my friends who live nearby and told me to go try it and I finally had a chance to check it out earlier this week! I ordered several pastries after looking at the impressive display of pastries at the counter and settled on a plain croissant, raspberry twist, and a rose & pistachio roll. I had great service from the staff who were friendly and answered any questions I had and the interior of the bakery is cute and quaint with plenty of seating and they even serve breakfast/lunch. Croissant (4/5) - simple, flaky and full of buttery flavor and layers. One of the better croissants I've had in LA and it's up there for me but not the best that I've had. Raspberry Twist (5/5) - full of raspberry filling, it wasn't too sweet, and it was flaky and tasty. Rose & Pistachio Roll (5/5) - plenty of pistachio filling and the rose cream on top was a nice touch and it was overall well-balanced in flavor and not too dense or sweet. Got lucky with parking right outside so I decided to stop in for a pastry. Tons of delicious things to choose from but I picked the pistachio and rose water roll, plus a trusty almond croissant. The croissants seemed a little stale, and lacked the flakiness that one would expect, as well as the incomparable taste of French butter. I would place the croissants at Maison Matho on Melrose waaaayyyy above the ones at Chaumont in terms of quality, flakiness, butter taste and crunch. Their regular croissants are flaky, but not buttery, and visually unappealing. They don't use an egg wash, so they look dry and kinda ugly. I wouldn't buy this again.
