I recently went to Great White Melrose for my friend's birthday brunch. My food experience was great. I ordered an iced oat milk chai latte which was quite tasty with the right amount of cinnamon. I also ordered the avocado toast as my main entree and it was filling. The service was nice. The staff are very sweet and patient. However, I was unpleasantly surprised and disappointed when we received the check. On the check, we got an additional fee of $42.20 for "large party service charge." Our "large party" was only 6 people. My concern is that there is no written policy that says that large parties will get charged. We would have not chosen to eat here if we knew that there is an additional charge due to the fact that we are a group of 6 people. What if it was a family of 6? Please fix this issue! read more

A friend wanted to meet here for breakfast, and although I've visited the Venice location, I've never been to this one. After driving by several times, I finally had the opportunity to stop on in. Parking is metered street, and I was lucky to find a spot right across the way around 10:30a during the week. As you walk in, the host stand is at the end and there is seating to your left. My friend was already seated here, so I just walked on in to table. A nice waitress came over shortly thereafter, and I ordered a cocoa with oatmilk (small). This 'small' was served in a glass, whereas a large would be in a typical mug you would expect. As for the drink, it was pretty good. As we caught up, I perused the menu and decided on a side of tater tots and for the first time in my life, I ordered banana bread which I was told was the closest thing to a breakfast pastry, while he went with a chickpea scramble (no bread). I don't feel it took too long for the food to arrive since we were catching up and enjoying our drinks. The restaurant was getting busier around this time as well. The banana bread had Maldon sea salt and honeycomb butter. This wasn't bad at all; I just never really had this before but I did finish it (got the remainder of it to go for later). The tater tots were just tater tots, nothing special but a larger portion which would be great for sharing alongside a side of ketchup. Service was welcoming, the space is nice, restrooms are two separate ones for all genders. Other guests that sat near us were friendly as well which made for an all-around pleasant experience. No photos taken since I was actually enjoying the company I was in. There were a few choices I was given today to meet up, and I'm glad I chose this one. And I think they have the best kabob in the city. I also think their pizza is among the best I've had, too. (Their phone-a-phobia actually makes me crazy. Definitely recommend this restaurant! I've been wanting to try this restaurant out and was finally able to come on a memorial day weekend! Surprisingly even though it was memorial day, we were able to get seated within 20 minutes (we went during lunch time at around 12:30). The restaurant was packed but the service was fast which allowed for shorter wait time. They allow for reservations online which would have even a shorter wait time but we came through walk-in. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. We ordered the shrimp pasta, blue smoothie bowl, and tuna tostadas and for drinks we ordered a green juice and an iced macchiato. To start off, the shrimp pasta was flavored perfectly! It is a little heavy for lunch but probably perfect for dinner. The blue smoothie bowl I also recommend! I don't like bowls that are too sweet and this bowl had the perfect amount of sweetness. The fruits were really sweet and it balanced out with the smoothie and nuts that were in there. My absolute favorite were the tuna tostadas! I was surprised that they would be my favorite dish as we only ordered it as an extra shareable plate! The tuna tasted fresh and it was perfectly seasoned! It went really well with the avocado and the chip that was underneath the tuna. I would definitely go back for just the tuna tostadas! Parking is NOT EASY to find, so if you're meeting someone here, allocate your time well for parking!! Did a walk in on a Saturday around 2:30 PM and got seated about 40 minutes later. It was really, really crowded so the wait made sense. We just walked around and window shopped while we waited and honestly the time passed by pretty fast! Service was still pretty good despite how packed it was, not too slow and frustrating like some other restaurants in LA where they take forever to even take your order. Now the food... My favorite dish and the one that caught me completely by surprise were the chicken wings!! I would not have ordered these on my own but my friend (also his first time here!) picked them and I am so glad he did. So flavorful and sweet from the honey and chili sauce. The pastas though.. Perfect spot for Brunch, EXCEPT it's all day long and any day of the week. And the food was beyond expectation. Heard about their famous breakfast burrito which was, as the rumors spoke, phenomenal. Made with crispy bacon bites, soft scrambled eggs, hash, chipotle aioli and wrapped in a perfectly toasted flour tortilla. Perfect! But the show stopper wasn't the burrito, it was the CHICKPEA SCRAMBLE. This is a bowl with cucumber-avocado salsa, chickpea (mashed and bites)-spinach tahini with dill (I believe), and sourdough. The sourdough is used to make your own diy avocado toast except with the chickpea mash. Sooooo incredible. I don't know why people haven't been talking about this dish more. Came to this place to try their breakfast burrito. I will say it was very good with the crispy tots and well cooked eggs and the added avocado really went well. The salsa that came with it had a nice mild kick. For the price, the portion size of the burrito is a bit small. The mezcal cocktail I got was very tasty. The staff was very attentive and nice. For being that busy, they manage to provide decent service. The atmosphere is very lively vibes. I can see why many want to try to eat there for the atmosphere alone. Always a nice time at Great White! This was my first time at this location but I've been to others and the menus and upscale brunch vibe are the same. My friend and I split the Tremendous Burger and Fish Tacos. Both were very "wet" entrees and were messy to eat but it was plenty of food and we left food. Personally I thought the burger was better than the tacos which we didn't realize would have lettuce shells. The fries were pretty average and nothing good once they got to room temperature. Parking can be a little difficult in the West Hollywood area but if you lap a few times you'll probably find something. If you can wait they also have valet. read more

Finally made it out to this location. I'm usually at the Venice spot, but after hearing all the hoopla and... stuff.... about this one, I figured I had to see what the fuss was about. Turns out... there isn't any, and that's a good thing. It's just as fun here, with the same great vibe, consistency in service, and the decor that makes the place feel effortlessly cool. The only noticeable difference is a little extra Hollywood chic and slightly sharper fashion among the crowd. Most importantly, the food delivers just like the Venice location. My two brunch go-to favorites- the blue smoothie bowl and the breakfast burrito- are just as fantastic here as I expected. Consistency like that is rare, and it's exactly why I keep coming back. Safe to say this location is now another regular stop for me, and a nice little home away from home. A friend wanted to have breakfast here today, and despite the mixed reviews, I agreed to give Great White a try. Located on the very tony part of Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, the restaurant sits among other high-end restaurants and retail stores. We arrived just after 10a and the restaurant was half filled. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated immediately on the covered outdoor patio. It was raining this morning, but you hardly knew it. The restaurant is large with an indoor/outdoor open floor plan that works very well. Beautifully decorated, great lighting, and bright artwork on the main indoor wall. I loved the open air feel of the two combined rooms. Our waiter took our order after answering our questions. He assured us that we'll be happy with our choices. We never saw him again after we ordered. After around 15 minutes, our food arrived. The plates themselves are large, but with small portions of food. See pictures. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito. The waiter assured me it was very filling after I told him I was starving. The burrito was very good, but it was smaller than expected, and not very warm. My friend ordered the Eggs and Toast, and he enjoyed the meal, too, but said the food was not hot. Unfortunately, everything for breakfast is à la carte, so he ordered a side of bacon (as posted on the menu), but it's actually Canadian Bacon. Big difference, but not the end of the world. We had a side of fries which looked perfect, but unfortunately, not hot or warm. Disappointing. After the food was dropped, no one ever checked up on us. We had to flag down a busser for a refill of coffee. There seemed to be plenty of staff and they were friendly, but we didn't know who was overseeing our table. Once we finished our meals, we had a new server check up on us. Too late, we finished our meals. All kinda confusing. I love that most food items are California farm to table. But this place is situated on a street with lots of boutiques and cute shops for you to check out while you get that "your table is ready" text, so the wait isn't too bad. I've seen Great White cafes pop up all over LA, and I finally got to try one out for dinner. We went to the Melrose location which has a beautiful indoor/outdoor vibe perfect for an end-of-summer night. It was easy to make a reservation even though the restaurant was packed when we got there. I started off with the market shrub which is an apple cider vinegar and berry sparkling beverage. There was no description on the menu, but our waiter described it perfectly as a kombucha alternative. DELICIOUS! Truly one of the best mocktails I've ever had. So simple but truly delicious. We split the swim club and the tremendous burger for our mains. I really enjoyed the swim club--grilled chicken, basil pesto, tomato on a fresh ciabatta. I think the best part of the sandwich was that every component felt so fresh. Perfect for a light dinner. We got it with a side of sweet potato fries which also did not disappoint. The tremendous burger came with a thick double patty, caramelized fennel, and American cheese with their burger sauce. It was a satisfying burger in terms of portion size and cheesiness, but somehow I got more of a burnt flavor than anything else. The fries were excellent. I would definitely stop by Great White again. I'd honestly love to try their breakfast next time, but overall really like this concept of an "all day cafe." read more

Had I known this place was Aussie I definitely would've come sooner!!! As soon as I saw the halloumi on the menu I had to have a little google and Ofc it's Australian owned!! I was soo impressed by the service and quality of food I cannot wait to come back (I can also see why there's always a line and it's packed)! We came on a Friday around 1pm and it was busy busy but luckily we got a table right away. The coffee and matcha was incredible I just wish there was a bigger option! We got the wings to share and they were the most unique wings I've ever had!!! The chilli sauce it's marinated in is divine I was licking the plate (not really but I should've) it was like stuffed inside the wing it was so unique with so much more flavour than a regular wing wow! The salmon pizza was a hit, so fresh and light it was so easy to scoff down. I also enjoyed the breakfast sandwich I wish it had real bacon though! I did love that the breakfast plate came with the good kind of bacon not the crap American bacon haha. The restaurant was stunning with incredible design and decor! Good food, fairly high prices, but that's typical these days. The layout is open air, so best to go when the weather is nice. The menu is diverse and presentation is just fine. Service wasn't amazing, but good enough. The bad news that keeps them from getting a 4 or 5 star review is the noise level. The owners seem to think this is a nightclub. But it's also a "thing" where restaurants can get customers to leave sooner when the music is loud. This was my 3rd visit to Great White and we really couldn't hear each other. A group next to use asked to lower the music, but if the staff did it, we couldn't tell. So this is NOT a great place for a meeting and honestly, there's food around that's great without having to shout to friends and family. There are plenty of tables, and the weather was fantastic for their outdoor patio seating. I loved the vibe that I got from the entire place. Our servers were friendly and very accomidating, and checked in on us frequently to make sure we had all our food and water. I tried: Yuzu Lemonade: Was pleasantly surprised by how they made this. Yuzu and sparkling water, I was expecting it to be overly sweet but they made this right. Smoked Salmon Pizza: Smoked salmon was delicious and I could have eaten another whole pizza if I could. Ceviche: Acidic and fresh, loved that it was using a protein other than shrimp. Avocado Toast: Creamy and great on the taro chip. Chicken Kebab: I loved that the juices got to collect on the pita bread and the salad was a nice referesher between bites. Overall great experience with service, food and ambiance. The restaurant gets very busy very quickly but I really love the space. It's the quintessential Hollywood brunch experience.
