This is one of my favorite cafes in Beverly Hills when it comes to good coffee, yummy pastry and nice outdoor seating! If you come before noon everything will be fresh as they are baking all the stuff every morning, I asked :) Prices are okay, coffee around $4, pastry starts at $4 as well, if I remember right. Salads can get a bit pricey though.. As for parking, you can leave your car for two hours for free in public parking that's just a bit further on S. My office has been catered by Chaumont before and it was truly a noteworthy experience. The vendors who provided lunch brought two boxes of warm Pain au chocolat - daydreaming of them as I write. They offer a nice catering menu as we had a variety of sandwiches to choose from: * Tomato Mozzarella * Turkey and brie * Natural Smoked salmon, dill, cream cheese * Tuna sandwich (And a few others I can't recall.) Such a nice and intimate coffee shop. I asked the cashier to choose what i needed to get and she suggested the breakfast croissant and raspberry danish. The danish was so flaky and was like puff pastry and the filling was so nice and light. Not too sweet. Amazing!! The croissant was sooo good. Bacon like i never had before. I am in here once a week buying pastries for clients. They do a great presentation, my average order is $40-$80 for a dozen or so pastries. Today I came in to buy two orders. Two 4 pastry orders- 8 pastries in total divided in two small boxes, I explained as I placed the order. I said I wanted to pay separately for two different orders (different clients so I use a different expense card) however she rang it up together. The line was growing behind me so I didn't make a fuss. The issue arose when she handed me over my order. For the first order- she did one 4 pastry box full with the 4 pastries and placed it in a bag (perfect, just what I ordered). However, the second order she placed one pastry in a single pastries box and the others in wax paper and put into a small bag. I explained that I wanted the same presentation for both - as I had mentioned when I ordered as they are gifts. The employee explained I had to take it the way she packed it. She loudly explained to me as so all the other customers could hear, "that's not how it works, you can't tell us how to pack the order" Odd because I explained moments before when I originally ordered - they were two separate gifts and I would like them packaged as such and she didn't mention that wouldn't be possible. In fact, she nodded and even repeated the order back to me reiterating the two separate orders. I understand maybe they have a policy of how to pack orders- but I would have liked to be informed when I ordered so that I could decide if I'd like to continue with my order or get a different gift all together. All that could be somewhat understandable BUT... Most importantly, I did not appreciate being humiliated as she loudly talked down to so that all the customers could hear. It was quite embarrassing! As much as I like Chaumont - especially the presentation as a gift, I cannot continue to support a business that loudly scolded and embarrassed me in front of a whole restaurant. read more

The pastries are awesome. The food is great. The customer service is above average. The prices are high even for Beverly Hills. The pastries are amazing. Their croissants are traditional French 15 layer laminated dough made with what they say is authentic French butter. Tastes good enough to be true. Any place that does a plain croissant correctly is an amazing patisserie. Their food is great. Omelettes are superb. French toast is amazing. A little small for the price. The pecan adds a style of elegance. Almonds have been done to death. I'm not a salad man so I won't review that. Their customer service is above average for the traffic the store generates. Most of the employees are nice however some are stressed out and look like they don't want to be there. The prices as good as their products is still overpriced for what you get. For a French person point of view, this place has the best pastries I tried in LA County! I totally recommend all their pastries, especially the Pain Au Chocolat. We also got the Smoked Salmon Poached Eggs which tasted really good and was a decent size. I'll be back! read more

One of my favorite little french cafes in Beverly Hills! I have brunch here often. You order first, they give you a number, and then find a seat so they can bring out the food to you when it's ready. All the food items are very good and the pastries are very cute and sweet too. If I'm being honest, the pastries look prettier than they actually taste good but still would consider them tasty. For French Pasteries, I find them not as delicate and light as I've had before. They have the sweetest little lavender boxes if you're buying the pastries to go and make a wonderful little gift to take to someone's house if you're going as a guest or if you have friends visiting from out of town, getting them a little pastry in a box afterwards to go will put them in a great mood. There are a few tables w umbrellas outside the shop on the sidewalk which is fabulous for people watching in BH. Parking is tough. I always park in the garage a few blocks down which has two hours free parking and walk a bit. Just be mindful of your 2hour limit though bc I often have brunches that last longer than my parking limit here. read more

The pastries look beAutiful and the flavor of the pastries is delicious but they are not cooking correctly. They have the oven temp too high and less baking time. So the croissant looks. Beautiful on the outside but the dough is uncooked on the inside. Same with the cinnamon raisin twist. I thought it was a. fluke but it's consistently undercooked. We initially were going to check out Bouchon Bakery but ended up here instead. This is a casual, order-at-the-counter type of restaurant and so affordable for being located in Beverly Hills. There are a couple of small tables both outside and inside, so it's not really good for groups but we had 5 people and got seated fairly quickly. They have lots of pastry options but also some brunch entrees. I ended up getting the Breakfast Croissant and have no regrets! The croissant was one of the best I've had and combined with the fried eggs, bacon, mustard and mayo dressing- it was heavenly! It also came with a side of arugula salad. Grrrreat French bakery and restaurant! Their breakfast options are great. If you don't want to wait in line for breakfast then I suggest you get here really early. There's only a few tables so it can get hard to get seats. I've tried the spicy baked eggs and the huecos rancheros. Both great options! I'm a regular customer which is almost 3 times a week there for breakfast but that guy is never changing! I have to start by saying I love Chaumonts croissants. I have been buying them since the start, they are close to us and the croissants are as good as the best you can get in France ( and ironically also better than some of France's less artisanal bakeries ( read mass market). They are expensive and they are worth it. On the basis of having been customers since the early days, having a hotel and therefore purchasing bulk and having had a couple of "issues" that needed resolution ( which makes you stand out a little for better or for worse even at the busy cafe) one would hope that when you reach the cash register there would be a greeting , a smile or some sort of acknowledgement of past interaction. Nope. Nothing. They never remember us, there is never a smile. Nothing So do we need this kind of acknowledgement?. Well maybe not. But boy does it make a difference to be known and seen for more than just a line item in total sales at the end of the day. Why have a business dealing with front line customers if you can't make an effort? I don't blame the staff - they were chosen by the owners. We are in crazy times and every bit of warmth and sincerity we receive is noted and appreciated. It's not enough to simply be good looking these days. The heart is what counts. And any arrogance because you know you are the best is extremely passe. If I ever find croissants as good as these I will move on for sure. Presently I get to have my rant here so that I don't swallow my resentment or choke on my favourite almond croissant. read more
