Wow! The vegan morning burrito was delicious. The verdict from my partner (who mostly eats meat), was that it was a lot cheesier and yummier than the regular morning burrito. I love all their options, I only wish they had the vegan cold foam at this location. Regardless, I can appreciate how large their vegan menu is (even the pastries) compared to other cafes. The seating is so lovely and varied. There's benches, couches and outdoor seating! I would not recommend for studying unless you're there to do some quick work or reading. Got a vegan cream filled croissant which was $8. The filling was not too sweet, had a nice flakiness, and I could taste the tart of the ube cream. The staff were great and shared that real butter is used in the regular croissants. Wifi is available so I imagine this being a nice place to work from. Came here a couple times around 10am right after I go to the gym. And note to self, call first if you are vegan. Because If you do not come early then you are out of luck if you are looking for vegan options. Recommended is to probably come super early when they open. I love Chaumont. They have one of the best vegan pastries I've ever had, including Europe. My usual location is the one in Beverly Hills, but my partner had a medical procedure today, and we decided to stop by this location to brighten his day a bit. This location is great for a meetup or to grab a coffee with friends. The food is delicious and parking is convenient. There is parking in front of the business, but only few spots, and if that's not available, there's a parking garage just down the alley. The food is excellent, and I appreciate great vegan options. However, management really needs to have a conversation with the girl working at the counter ( dark brown hair and bangs). I have never experienced such bad customer service or rudeness and considering the price range at this business, I would at least expect respectful customer service. As we were looking what to order, I had to guide my partner and read individual labels since he had just undergone a PRK procedure and couldn't open his eyes. It was obvious when I led him into the business that he was struggling with his eyesight. From the moment she saw us at the counter, she was rude. We weren't even taking up her time, she was serving other customers while I stood to the side reading the labels, not her. Then, when we were finally ready to order, she completely ignored us, and a younger man kindly stepped in to take our order. We ordered over $70 worth of pastries, some to take home and two pastries with coffee to have there. The guy at the counter took our order, gave us a table number, and noted the takeout items separately from what we would be eating there. She overheard the word "takeout" and immediately jumped in, scolding him for giving us a table number if we had a takeout order. I kindly clarified that he had it right, we were taking some items home but having coffee and pastries there, which is nothing unusual. She completely ignored me, typed something at the register, and walked away. The guy reassured us that the order would be with us shortly. He was very kind, but I could tell she was either his supervisor or that he was in training, and I felt bad that he had to experience her tantrum. I ignored the situation and guided my partner to his seat. Then, she came over and threw the bag onto the table. I said thank you, but she refused to make eye contact. She then banged the coffee cups onto the table, which were in takeout cups, and all the pastries were packed, even though we had clearly specified which ones we wanted to eat there. One of the plastic cups was broken and leaking coffee. She turned what should have been a great experience into a terrible one. I hope management speaks to her, especially considering she is training others. No one should have to deal with this daily. As a manager and leader in a company with 100,000+ employees myself, where we actively participate in leadership/ management training, I can say this is outright team harassment, not to mention customer neglect. The pastries are really good (+2 stars), but the drinks are inconsistent and the service is poor. Employees are rarely welcoming, and I often have to wave or speak up just to get acknowledged. I visit a few times a month, but after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. This was my second time placing a pickup order, and just like the first time, it wasn't ready. On both occasions, I ordered more than 20 minutes in advance and still had to get an employee's attention to ask about my order. I was told it wasn't ready and would take another five minutes with no explanation. When I asked why, given the advance order time, I was told there had been a large order prior to mine and was then offered an apology. Their Beverly Hills location is much better, which makes this more disappointing since this location is more convenient for me. It's a shame this café doesn't operate at the same standard. Thankfully, there's no shortage of nearby cafés. I easily found a friendly, well-priced alternative with great-tasting food and drinks. read more

Though their pastry selection is huge and presentation of the pastries look beautiful, the actual texture of the pastry is disappointing. We tried the cinnamon roll, apricot twist and almond chocolate croissant. They were all very dry and doughy. Croissants are usually crispy and flaky-- these ones were the opposite. Wish they had a small lot in the front to make it easy to grab and go. I love how you can request to "warm up" your pastries, which is a nice touch compared to other bakeries. I love how much smoked salmon was included in their Smoked salmon and poached eggs croissant, baby spinach, and avocado smash side. STACKED is awesome in my eyes! Their smoked salmon, sammy was also amazing! I tried their pistachio and rose roll. Its pistachio roll with rose water glazing is amazing! The staff was friendly, but I wouldn't say over-the-top. The best vegan croissants I've ever had and they have a large selection of flavors including strawberry, matcha, pistachio, savory ham and cheese, and more! They also have other vegan treats and vegan breakfast options. I got the vegan omelette and it was HUGE, so filling and delicious. The omelette had vegan feta, cherry tomatoes, and dill, and was topped with avocado and more dill. It also came with a side of toast which I didn't even know, it was good but I wished it was toasted and had vegan butter. I had to ask for hot sauce and ketchup but was glad that they gave it first no additional charge! The hot sauce they gave me was cholula but I also saw that they have siracha. I also got an iced lavender latte with oat milk. It was good but not my favorite lavender latte I've ever had. I would get a regular iced latte with oat milk next time I come back, the syrup flavor wasn't special but it was still good coffee. My friend got the vegan shakshuka which was good but she tried my omelette and said that that was better. The shakshuka had a vegan poached egg in tomato sauce and vegan feta and came with toasted bread. Overall this place has amazing food for both vegans and non vegans! Stumbled on this place after searching through Yelp, I stopped by before they closed to grab some pastries and drink and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of choices available and how big the overall space was! The interior is brightly lit with an outdoor patio with plenty of seating and tables available. There's a display counter showing all the pastries they have currently. I opted to get an ube croissant, a regular croissant, and a matcha latte with whole milk! Their default is oat milk but they have other options available if you aren't lactose intolerant. They asked if I wanted my croissant warmed up and I said yes while I took the Ube croissant to go for a friend. My matcha latte came out after a few minutes and it was great. Lots of matcha flavor and it wasn't too sweet! I loved the plates that the pastries came on and the nice glass that my latte came in! It added a nice touch if you are dining in and elevated the experience for me! Overall, this is a great bakery/cafe to stop by if you are in the area and I can see it growing more popular in the future! I was both shocked and delighted to come across Chaumont, which sits under Millenium apartment complex. As I walked in, I was greeted by pink walls, green plants, and en elegant display case. Overwhelmed by all the options, I settled on Vegan Shakshuka for $21 including tip. I was excited about this! What really created some cognitive dissonance for me, was ordering a side of avocado that came out to $3.87 with tax. This felt a bit outrageous to me and made it hard to sit peacefully and wait for my food. It would be cool if they implemented an smc student discount! After some time, the food came and I was in awe of its beauty. The side of bread next to the shakshouka looked decadent. The tomato and onion filling was decadent with the fresh fennel and mint. The vegan eggs were flavorless! If I could've gotten a cheaper version of this, without the egg, I'd make this meal a daily ritual. I marinated the bread in the shakshouka skillet for a lovely effect, as the breads' crust was hard. Also I really could've done with two pieces of toast, that would've put me over the moon for the price I paid. After convincing myself that money is fake and I deserve good things, I bought myself a pistachio and rose water pastry and I was not disappointed by the experience. The lady who helped me pick out the pastry was cool. I hope they pay their employees well outside of their tips, with the prices they're charging. The pastry was flaky and moist, a beautiful ending to my time here. I really appreciated the ample pillows in the seating area. Chaumont opened another bakery shop on Pennsylvania/Colorado in Santa Monica. It's close to the Water Garden a corporate offices complex. The shop is new and is on ground/street level of the newly built Millennium apartment building, where a hugh yellow 'M' is obstructing Chaumont's street visibility. Chaumont's OG shops are in Beverly Hills and I'm a fan of their french style pastries. This show is brand new, has more seating both indoor and outdoor. Inside the display is divided into two sections: to the left: non vegan, to the right: vegan. The staff are cordial nice and helpful. Even though it's not mandated, I prefer if ALL staff behind the counter to wear face a mask and gloves and I didn't see that here. All workers behind the counter were all maskless and the display case didn't have a sneeze shield...so this was a turn off and I ordered far less than I wanted. Because who likes food which has been subjected to breathed germs??!! The guy staffer who helped Me did put on a fresh pair of gloves and I thanked him for doing that, if he and every staffer had a face mask, my dining experience would have earned a higher rating but don't let my extreme germaphobe OCD stop you from visiting this lovely pastry shop. read more

The latte was yummy - not super strong and just what I needed. The tofu bowl wasn't my favorite but I could see people liking it; the soy sauce type dressing had a bit too much of an umami flavor and while I love umami, I thought it was a little too forward for me. This bakery is an extension of the main Chaumont in Beverly Hills. I'll be honest, the croissants are not really up to par to my standards. Like even visually, you can see how oddly sectioned and chunky they are compared to a classic French croissant that is more uniformly laminated. They just look clumsy, and they taste more doughy and not as light and airy as I would've expected from a croissant. BUT, this place does offer cream filled croissants, that are also vegan! And they have so many flavors! And they really stuff the croissants full of it! And the inside is pretty gorgeous, and there's plenty of space to hang out or even study (they have big tables on the inside that are perfect for groups). For a cafe, it's actually decently sized, and there's lots of tables inside and outside. I would've loved a place like this in college, to be honest. If you resign yourself to eating their version of a croissant, something breadier and wonderfully stuffed, then you'll enjoy this bakery. If you're looking for the best French croissant however, I would check out other places.
