I never understand local businesses that either don't update their hours (website / door signage / yelp) or at least leave a note in the window to explain they've had to close early. It's totally disrespectful to customers who may have travelled out of their way to visit. I arrived on Monday at 5:20pm and the place was completely closed. I have not been here in a very long time. I was shocked at the prices. Six or seven dollars for a small pastry it's a little bit ridiculous. But maybe it's just for the ones who can afford that price. I was lucky to get parking and as I stepped out, all I could smell was pee, and there was trash everywhere. Where did the ambience go? Why is this parking lot not cared for by the people who rent here. Please hire someone to pick up all that debriand to give it a complete wash of the cement and spray it down. The smell is intoxicating in a bad way.. Was planning to stop by and sit before hopping on the freeway. And just enjoy the a pastry and coffee, But, the smell was just overpowering it ruined the moment. read more

We learned about Belwood Bakery through Too Good To Go (TGTG). The pick-up window for our order was 3pm-5:30pm on Labor Day. When we arrived at 4:50pm, the shop was closed! And their posted hours for Labor Day were until 6pm. I doubt we'll ever return. read more

Would you believe I've been passing this place for almost 2 decades and I never knew it was there. My search for coffee and ham and cheese croissant led me here today. The service was friendly. It's a small lobby with so so many delightful pastries to look at. I had a Vietnamese iced coffee, it was so delicious, I could only finish half tho cause I was LIT on caffeine!!! Came back for more! They have a new Dubai looking Danish that was definitely a treat--nice and crispy with pistachio topping, Nutella drizzle, and cream cheese. The concierge at my hotel recommended this spot and boy, do they deserve a raise. This was an amazing bakery. You walk in and are overwhelmed by the smell of homemade pastries and coffee. The server was very nice and gave some recommendations when I was struggling to decide. I got two almond/chocolate croissants, two crookie croissants, an everything but the bagel croissant, and a vietnamese coffee. Everything was inhaled by my friends and me. The croissants were all filled nicely and the buttery flakey layers provided a soft bed for all of the flavors. The iced coffee was strong but sweet. Only complaint is how small the parking lot is but that is outside their control. Fighting for a spot is well worth the reward of anything you get here. read more

Belwood Bakery Cafe doesn't have the most spacious parking, and the small lot is paid. If you don't mind a quick stroll around the corner, there's also additional 1hr metered parking - though free on Sunday! The staff were welcoming and friendly, working very efficiently to fulfill all orders. I discovered them from TooGoodToGo, and the Surprise Bag was loaded with tasty pastries. I'm generally not a fan of store bought pastries because of their sweetness but the ones here were flavors just right! I also had an iced latte but unfortunately cannot recommend this one. It tasted fairly watered down coffee - almost like none of it was espresso. Maybe their brew is lighter, but it definitely needed me kick. If needed, there is also cinnamon and cocoa powder on the side for additional flavor. Seating wise, this is a great spot for a casual meetup but the smaller interior and cozy plaza would make it too difficult to study or work at without a good set of headphones. read more

Strawberry lemonade is also absolutely amazing with real sweet strawberries inside. And the chocolate raspberry mousse cake was heavenly with the sweet tart flavor just bursting in my mouth. I would love to come back again for more! My gf and I decided to swing by this lowkey of a cafe between Getty Villa and Getty Center. Phew, were we glad we did! The strawberry lemonade was, as simple as it sounds, perfect. There was actual strawberries and whatever else in the lemonade. I don't know how to describe it, each sip was amazing. The cappuccino was standard, good enough for me. This place serves up all sorts of amazing deli cafe foods and baked goods. Grab a croissant breakfast sandwich. They don't skimp out on the eggs, cheese, or proteins so you know you're getting a whole lot of deliciousness per bite. The croissant was pretty clutch too just saying. The roast beef sandwich was also a banger. Just the mix of the dijon mustard and whatever else sauce with the roast beef, tomatoes, and lettuce made for an amazing sandwich. Same thing, each bite was packed with flavor and bliss. We finished off the meal with a chocolate raspberry cake which was as yummy as it looked. Each bite was decadent and not too sweet but still sweet enough. Yeah, we devoured it quick. So this place packs a whole lot of options and flavor despite being a small space. The croissant breakfast sandwich was really great. I got mine with bacon and it came with a very generous amount. The eggs were perfectly cooked, soft, delicious. I would get this again anytime. Roast beef sandwich (hot) - the bread was good but thin for a cibatta. Needed salt. Next time we'd try the pastrami. Ham & cheese quiche - small, needs a knife & fork to get they the croissant pastry shell. Cheese flavor on top was good. Flavor of the filling was good, lots of onion. Very enjoyable. Mocha latte, half sweet - I'm glad I got this half sweet because it still pretty sweet. It was also lacking in coffee flavor. For $8 for 16oz, I wouldn't ever get this again. The flavors were not... enjoyable, esp for the price. My dining partner felt similarly about his vanilla latte, which he ordered full sweet. There's are two small tables inside, a handful more outside with ceiling fans - a nice shaded patio space. The staff is friendly and quick. All of our food came out pretty fast. Everything is served in to-go containers, so easily portable if there aren't any free tables. It seemed like people done fairly quickly, though, and tables freed up regularly. Parking is paid meters, limited to 1 hr, and the lot is small, but we lucked out with a space right at lunch time. They're clearly known for the breakfast sandwich and I'd recommend that anytime. The pastries and breads are very generic and low quality, shipped in from somewhere, and really awful. It's quite sad that such a nice neighborhood is stuck with this place.
