Well to start off, the owner was very rude and disrespectful towards her staff. I seen multiple times every time i come that she constantly belittles them in front of the customers. And on top of all that, her customer service is straight up ass if you aren't white she favors her own race due to the stigmatization that white people are richer than people of color. And when i order my usual croissant i ask for it to warmed up and she casually goes to the back just be on her phone, so unprofessional and i expect more given that she is the OWNER. This bakery is an extension of the main Chaumont in Beverly Hills. I'll be honest, the croissants are not really up to par to my standards. Like even visually, you can see how oddly sectioned and chunky they are compared to a classic French croissant that is more uniformly laminated. They just look clumsy, and they taste more doughy and not as light and airy as I would've expected from a croissant. BUT, this place does offer cream filled croissants, that are also vegan! And they have so many flavors! And they really stuff the croissants full of it! And the inside is pretty gorgeous, and there's plenty of space to hang out or even study (they have big tables on the inside that are perfect for groups). For a cafe, it's actually decently sized, and there's lots of tables inside and outside. I would've loved a place like this in college, to be honest. If you resign yourself to eating their version of a croissant, something breadier and wonderfully stuffed, then you'll enjoy this bakery. If you're looking for the best French croissant however, I would check out other places. Ordered an iced vanilla latte, tofu bowl, & a vegan chocolate croissant today (Uber Eats). Overall, it was good and I'd come back but will consider ordering something new as this was my first time! The latte was yummy - not super strong and just what I needed. The tofu bowl wasn't my favorite but I could see people liking it; the soy sauce type dressing had a bit too much of an umami flavor and while I love umami, I thought it was a little too forward for me. Either way, I finished it lol. The chocolate croissant was goood, but wish it had more chocolate. The ratio was a bit off as there was just a tad too much bread and not enough chocolate. Chaumont's second location is an improvement on their Beverly Hills spot. All the food here is available at one counter instead of having a vegan side and regular side. There is also more seating available, inside and out, and the space overall just feels brighter and more fresh. Pro: croissant variety, good lighting, music. Grow: outlets. I walked past this new cafe in Santa Monica a few days ago and got to visit today! There was very little information online given how new the cafe is so I had to call in regarding wifi availability. Luckily this spot did have wifi so me and a friend came in to study. They have a nice variety of croissants and we wanted to try them all. The cafe is spacious and was not too busy at 10 am. Unfortunately they do not have any outlets available so we didn't stay long. The workers were friendly and welcoming, their playlist was a good mix of English and Spanish music which I loved. Food and drink: I was a little disappointed in the coffee selection as there was no unique drinks available. The croissants made up for this as they had about 5-6 flavors. The ube croissant was not too sweet and needed a bit more crunch. Overall, it was tasty and I loved the color. I will definitely be back to try different flavors such as matcha, rose, or pistachio. I love having Chaumont in Santa Monica! The location in Beverly Hills is nice and it's great that they separate the vegan and non-vegan areas in different storefronts. However, it's just so nice how close this one is. It's also a nice location and lots of seating inside and out. Although the baked goods are all in one storefront, vegan goods are still separated out and marked with a V for vegan. The customer service was good but definitely not as friendly and chatty as the Beverly Hills location. It was close to the end of the day for them so maybe they were ready to go home. I don't know! I came to Chaumont Bakery in Santa Monica with high expectations. They are known for Vegan baked goods, but also have a non-Vegan section. I had the guava cheese non-vegan croissant in house. It was brought to my table on a porcelain plate with a reusable knife and fork. A nice touch. But I had a problem. It was difficult to cut up the croissant, and I ended up shredding it. The original location is in Beverly Hills and they specialize in Vegan Butter (made from coconut oil; check out their website). I came before 9am on a Thursday and all the pastries was freshly stocked. Ample seating indoors and out with a cute modern aesthetic. They also serve heartier breakfast items made to order. Quick and easy service! I was impressed that the vegan section had just as much variety as the non-vegan one. I think vegan desserts can be overly sweet or texturally dense/grainy but not here -- at least for the puff pastry items. Moreover there were layers (decent lamination) on the vegan items that I'd like to compare to the non vegan ones. I'll need to comeback for the breads/cakes! I tried the ham and cheese croissant, pain suisse (vanilla custard/chocolate chips), pistachio croissant, and guava croissant. Be prepared to spend ~$6/per vegan pastry, but it's worth the money for the concept and execution! Ham & cheese are what dreams are made of because it was perfect without being reheated; pain suisse was deliciously indulgent; pistachio croissant was light in flavor but still present; guava was refreshing and I didn't miss the cream cheese usually paired with it (non vegan guava croissant has cream cheese). read more

The women behind the counter were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to help me pick from their vast amount of vegan options. They let me know that they use vegan butter that they make themselves in-house. I ended up ordering a vegan ham and cheese croissant (so yummy & filling) as well as their chocolate & orange croissant (delectable). They have an extensive vegan selection of pastries that are delicious too including a chocolate croissant that's to die for. Dont get me wrong, this place is delicious & im very grateful for the vegan options. I'm writing this review because the mint leaves garnish that was included in our tofu bowl were not washed. They were covered in dirt & my husbands mint leaf had a caterpillar in a cocoon tucked under his leaf. Just a message to management: make sure your staff knows to thoroughly wash the veggies before playing them. Doesn't matter how good the food is, if there is dirt or bugs found in the meal, it's a complete turn off. My stomach turns every time I think about it. Please wash everything a little better. I've been wanting to try the Beverly Hills location but I happened to stumble on their ig & found out this Santa Monica location is in the soft opening phase so I opted to come here instead. I came at 2pm so I'm sure they were out of some pastries, but I tried one of each vegan pastry that they had available at the time. I also had the vegan egg & cheese sandwich & a matcha latte. Everything was superb! It blows my mind how vegan pastries can taste just like the non-vegan versions these days. If I have to pick, I think my favorites were the Apricot Vanilla Twist & the Guava Croissant. Before becoming vegan, I would frequently get the guava pastry from Porto's as a kid, & these definitely brought back those nostalgic memories! I guess the only downside was the price (my bill was $89), but I expected it so it wasn't a surprise. read more

I treated myself to a birthday almond chocolate vegan croissant and an Americano and while I liked the decor and outdoor seating, the service left quite a bit to be desired. At first the young lady at the counter wasn't listening when I ordered so we played a game of who's on first which was somewhat annoying. Heaven on earth. Made with love kindness and actual angel touches. They are just as gorgeous as they are delightful. I wish I could eat 3 croissants a day. I am slowly trying everything they have, don't be surprised if some things sell out early because it's just that good and it's made in small batches from scratch with the highest quality home made vegan recipes that don't have all the added bad stuff. I am so happy this opened on the west side we really needed a cozy space to grab a fresh patisserie and support local businesses instead of the standard coffee shops. I will be coming weekly. There are minimal gluten free options I believe there are 2, but I know they are working on adding in more.
