I've been to this particular nail shop a couple of times for a quick fill-in when I'm in the area. The wait time isn't too long. I think my nails look nice enough so I would say the quality is good. I can't remember my technician's name. She was very sweet and worried about me because I fell asleep while she was doing my nails. I always fall asleep (lol), but this day I was extra tired and it showed on my face and demeanor. The place is a bit outdated. Renovations would make it look better. In the past couple of years, I had a set of acrylic nails put on, and a week later, they fell off. And three times in a row, I got a fungal infection on my toenails from their gel pedicures. The fungal infection is pretty gross, but I wish I could attach a picture. They really need to put a lining on the foot sinks. First time here. I desperately needed to have my nails done on a Sunday and they were the closest shop that opens in the morning. I came right at 11am when they opened and was serviced immediately. The service was ok. I'm used to receiving at least a hand massage with gel manicures but I did not get one here. It's been a week since my nails were done. The cuticle job is terrible. They look horrible now at this point. I should have asked her to only push them back and not cut it. I've also had 3 nails chip so far. This place was disgusting for one. For two it's $25 for gel & if it's color he'll it's more. Polish was done sloppy. Over priced for awful work. I walked in with the intention of getting my eyebrows done but once I notice a corner with a chair and trash on the floor near it from previous work, plus the wax dish with 3-4 sticks inside being used constantly, I decided not to (wax was $9). Not to mention their was a client getting her lashes and eyebrows done in front of other customers because the shop is so small. I'm not one to be upset or post bad reviews but this is the worst experience I've ever had. Staff was polite as was I so it wasn't any disagreements, but if I chose to get gel on my toes the price would have been $79 and that's without a pedicure. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. I have been here many times for pedicures, manicures, and the new-ish UV cure gel manicures. The shop is small and simple, but it has everything I look for in a nail salon. The prices are low, it's kept very clean, and the technicians are friendly (although there is occasionally a language barrier). Most days, there's minimal or no wait for a walk in, unless it's a really popular time, such as right after work, on a Friday, in the summer. They have a pretty basic setup for their manicures, but they do a good job, and the gel manicure I recently got stayed pretty for at least 3 weeks. For pedicures, they have massaging chairs and whirlpool foot baths, and their "spa pedicure" adds a cooling aromatherapy mask treatment and scrub, with massage, for your feet and calves. They also do waxing and other salon services, however I haven't been in for anything but manicures or pedicures. read more

Then to find out they don't do nails, how frustrating. Asked if I could stay five more minutes someone was coming, so I agreed. This is the first nail salon I went to since moving down here! I got a pedi with gel which was $50 all that was done was cuticle remover and gel polish they soaked my feet in very little additive to the water and never bothered to remove any dead skin from the bottom of my feet or anything else! I than got a gel manicure which I had to ask several Times to have them filed down bcuz they were sharp! They never made conversation with me only amongst themselves! I've had many many mani/pedi in my life and this by far has been the absolute worst! I wouldn't even waste your money I pretty much got a $100 service I could have done on myself for $20!!!!! This place is filthy, I felt it the as soon as I came in; I would have left but they seem happy to get the business on a weekday. Most pedi consist of a hot towel, lotion, etc. for no extra price. However, here they offer different prices for a hot towels and lotion. I paid for a pedi, and it seemed more like a color change treatment. The water for my pedi was barely luke warm (it felt like the water was sitting there waiting for any costumer), and the towel that my foot rested on was dirty. Honest review. I wanted to like this place but it's in need of a serious cleaning. And I'm not a neat freak. I walked in at 415pm. It's busy. That's always a good look! I tell the young lady I simply wanted a polish change and brows. I pick my color and sit. Two more women come in each wanting more extensive services and they take them ahead of me. I'm thinking they had appointments. But I ask one she laughs and says nope!. It's cool. I'm not in a rush. Enjoying the newest Costco magazine read on wines. I stated going to another nail salon in Wheaton because they honestly do a MUCH better job, in a nicer shop , but Chau is so close to home that I always try to give them another chance . The owner has always done my nails (LEE ) I believe is her name . I will NEVER go to Chau nails again !!! I came to to get a pedicure and gel manicure wound up paying 70$ ( last time i paid 65$) , i let that slide thinking maybe because she did something special this time. After my pedicure she started to put the pedicure flip flops on my feet , the kind that people usually give after the pedi. She didn't take the flip flops out of any plastic like usual and i saw her brush them off . I asked to see the flip flop and to my surprise the OWNER was trying to put ALREADY USED FLIP FLOPS on my newly done FEET! The bottoms were black from ware. I was LIVID !!! In no situation is this ever OK. IF the owner is this disgusting what is she telling her staff? If you notice under where you dry your feet they have a basket for you to put your flip flops after you dry. Those are the ones that they reuse on new customers. I used to go to this place regularly for years but changed after my daughter found a good and more sanitary place nearby (Solar Nails). I went back to Chau's Mon or Tuesday for convenience. Big mistake. Still VERY dirty! Walked in and one manicurist took me quickly. She was in a bad attitude but I wasn't concerned because anyone can have a bad day. I left a $3 tip on $23 service; paid before finishing so nails wouldn't smudge. While under dryer I noticed messiness, I got her attention and waited for her to come over (still in bad attitude). She wasn't happy but fixed it. Today's Thursday morning, two days later - my nails are a mess; interview later today. I went back. I never go anywhere with a complaint but this was too much. Miss Bad Attitude still had a bad attitude and Billy and Manager of the moment decided to chime in - in native language - no, he can't speak English. Yes, they finally fixed the nails (put polish over top, refused to do over without charging). I told the manicurist I won't be back, and would tell others - she said that's okay. I am loyal customer here, I always get my nails done here but lately they have been lacking in their services they are rushing and not doing their best. My nails have chipped on multiple occasions and messed up only days after leaving the salon. On this most recent visit my nails were ruined only after 2 days. I always get gel, and I am never cheap. So I came in last week to get a pedicure everything went great I had good service. Today when I come in to get a color change, it wasn't so great. I come in and was seated right away by the guy that works here. I don't know what his name is but it's only one guy that works there. He cleans the the hot pink polish off my toes but didn't get all the polish off. I told him that the polish is not all the way off, he said the new polish color which is lime green, is going to go over it so you can't see it. So he cleans it off and it was still there. I hate this place I only come here because it's close to my house but I bet you I won't come again. Another situation just happened before I left. I'm sitting there drying my feet and the guy confronts me about taking a picture of their face waxing station. I sure did take a picture, it looks terrible. Renovate and you wouldn't have a problem.
