Get the skirt steak! I try my best to switch it up when I come here, but ever since I ordered the skirt steak, I can't let it go. It comes with broccolini and two polenta fries. They add a dollop of jalapeño butter on top of the steak which really sets it off. The Yuka fries as a starter is always a good choice also. Their seasonal cocktail list right now has a lot of fall flavors on it, so I was a bit thrown off. But, our server Josh mentioned the falling leaves cocktail is the one to get if you're looking for tequila, so I opted for that one. It also has cinnamon, burnt honey, lemon + ango bitters. It was quite tasty, but I couldn't get fall out of my head! Ps - make a reservation at this location

Got the taco salad and substituted the beef with chicken and it was amazing! I do think that the up charge was a bit steep for the substitution (they charged seven dollars) but overall still a good amount of food for the price. A fun ambience, especially with good weather when the patio is open. The service was also great (even when going with a big group!) And they gave my friend a free birthday dessert, which was super nice!

Let's start with the service was amazing! Sat at the high tops near the bar and I swear they were fighting over us or something. Started with a couple tasty seasonal cocktails and decided to start with dessert! The Apple and the Flan were very good. Then onto the apps. Tried the Nachos and the Cauliflower. They said we should try the cauliflower if we weren't afraid of it. Glad we did, it was delicious as promised. Finally, split an entree, landed on the Barria Short Rib from the specials. This was good too, but need to go back to try something on the main menu next.

The food is so diff but feels like it has a Mexican flare. They say it's Latin food and it's pretty amazing. The skirt steak is super flavorful! Our waitress was really great! And our view in the bar was so nice! The rooftop was taken by a private party but that would have been fun to sit up there. My steak was way smaller than my friends steak and we ordered the same thing.

I love Livery! I hadn't been back in about a year or so and came back for my birthday recently. When I came here before, they normally brought out chicharrones which I always thought was a nice touch. This time they did not, although I'm thinking maybe it was because our waiter forgot, as I did see other tables get them later on. We started with drinks and I had The Carriage House and then a Mezcal Margarita. Both were boozy and super tasty! My friend and I ended up splitting two appetizers. I really loved the corn empanadas when I was here before but they aren't on the menu anymore. I would LOVE to see those back because they were amazing. Instead we settled on the Calamari and the Brussels Sprouts. We both really enjoyed the Brussels. They were big and the cheese tasted great with them. The calamari was a tad disappointing as there seemed to be hardly any calamari but a ton of red onions and jalapeños. The pieces of calamari were quite small too. The flavor was still nice though! For our mains, I went with the skirt steak and was asked if I wanted 6 oz or 12 ounces. I got the 6 oz but didn't see a price difference mentioned on the menus. Curious if there is one although the 6 oz was perfect. The steak is served medium rare and gosh, it's always so freaking good! The broccolini too and fried polenta (I think) are so so delicious. I'm always happy with this meal! My friend got the lamb and that was great too! Well balanced with the flavor profile and cooked perfectly. And for my birthday, they not only gave a signed card which I thought was a sweet touch, but then they added the churros and gosh, they are so good! The dulce de leche with the churros just hits the spot!

What a great place! My husband, 8 year old and I went tonight. We are visiting from out of town and stumbled upon it during a yelp search for a good place with a kid menu. Ambiance is versatile for a family dinner, date night or GNO! We had the Brussels to start followed by the potato tart and skirt steak. We shared the entrees and the kitchen plates it for us without us even thinking to ask. We ended with churros. All food was delicious! Shout out to Trinity, our server. What a joy! She was engaging and informative. We will definitely be back in a future visit to Indy!

My fiancé and I have made it a tradition to grab dinner here for Valentine's Day, and this was our second year. The food is out of this world, and the service is very attentive. The ambiance is very cozy and intimate without it being loud or feeling like you are fighting for space. I highly recommend this spot if you are going on a date and want some phenomenal food near a walkable area like Mass Ave.

I absolutely love this location. It has a darker, cozy aesthetic starting from your walk into the restaurant. It's extremely with the kindest staff. The guacamole appetizer tasted unbelievably fresh and was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were also a hit. I chose the chicken empanadas and they were delicious. Ample seating available inside or on the patio. The 4 stars is due to the parking downtown as you have to find parking nearby and walk, but simple downside.

The staff here is marvelous. We were given perfect recommendations from our waitress. We started with the empanadas and they were wonderful. You can't miss with any of their empanada options. We split a bundle of 9 for an appetizer. Then we split their skirt steak for our entree. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. One of the better steak entrees we've had. The Caramel Tres Leches Cake was a marvelous ending to our meal. An amazing rich cake with wonderful flavor. Livery is a top restaurant in Indy. Do not miss out and be sure to get reservations!

Livery is always a wonderful experience if you make a reservation, otherwise, wait times can be very long. I went with a friend to celebrate her birthday and Devour Indy was going on so we ordered from that menu. Overall, the food was wonderful! The pictures speak of the good quality. The frosting on the tres leches cake was a bit sweet though. The service was impeccable and our waitress was wonderful. She was very attentive and courteous. Lastly the ambiance is amazing. You can either sit indoors or outdoors but we opted to sit outside. This is a perfect and intimate space for a date night or just great food with friends.

Popped in here a few weeks ago on a weeknight. We had a reservation, and were sat fairly quickly. The place was busy, but not too loud. We were sat outside, which felt nice on a cooler evening. I had chicken empanadas for my meal. They were crispy, and had a nice sauce with them. Nothing to write home about though. Service was okay, which is why it's only a four. The waitress only came to take our food/drink order, drop off drinks, and dropped off the check. She didn't check up on us throughout the meal, nor ask how everything was. Overall, will return again to try some more items on the menu.

Both back in Indy and back on Yelp! Kicking off Devour week with my fiancé at a new-to-us restaurant: The Livery. Though it was our first time here, it certainly won't be our last. I rarely order a drink but we are in the heat of wedding season and it felt like a necessity. I tried the carriage house margarita, which is a signature drink for the Livery and wasn't disappointed by the flavor. To kick off the first course of food, we had mushroom empanadas (for my vegetarian fiancé) and steak empanadas. Both were a pleasant combination of crunch and fresh flavor. Main course: Fiancé tore into a Devour week- exclusive: pickled pepper quesadilla. Packed with flavor and vegetables in every bite, his entree got rave reviews. He only wishes this was part of the regular menu. I enjoyed the skirt steak with a server recommended sauce which was similar to an aioli. It's always a good sign when not only the main leaves you wanting more, but also the polenta and shockingly flavorful broccolini. We wrapped up with what fiancé has deemed the best churros he's ever had with a delicious caramel sauce and the seasonal sugar cookie flan. Both were texturally perfect and absolutely beyond tasty. Lastly but certainly not least, our server Hannah went above and beyond to ensure not only our water binging habits were quenched (she must've filled our glasses like six times, but also made masterful menu recommendations. We cannot wait to come back to Livery again to visit Hannah and see what the full menu has to offer. What a strong start to Devour week!

I hope livery can find their charm again. My last visit the food was such a miss for me. The cocktail wasn't that great and that is a first for me at livery. She's always been my mass ave fav so if saddens me to even have to write this but for the increase in prices there and the decline of the quality of the food I have to be honest.

What comes the with empanada dish for the listed price? I see so many random amounts of them in review photos. Is the $11 per one?

You receive three empanadas and a sauce.

I just got a notification that this restaurant is recommended as a budget friendly dinner ...low cost deliciousness. It is amazing restaurant But budget friendly I don't think that's exactly accurate. Do u?

I believe you can get an order of three empanadas for $12!! And the empanadas are a good size, so for a fine dining restaurant pretty affordable!

Is there an age requirement to dine here?

No, there is no age requirement.

Are there solid vegan options that aren't salad?

The cauliflower entree (also on the devour menu) is vegan. They're also really great about dietary restrictions - email ahead of your reservation and the chefs will totally take care of you!!

Can we bring our dog in your outdoor seating?

Our apologies, but our patio is not pet friendly.

Going to a concert after dinner, are shorts ok?

    Yes!

Do they take reservations this time of year, during the week?

    They do now!

    Is this restaurant kids friendly?

Yes. However, the later it gets, the less likely you'll be to find children. Also, it's a decidedly adult atmosphere.

What is the wait like on Friday nights?

We waited maybe 15 mins but we went around 6pm. If you go later, I'm sure it's a bit longer

    Is parking paid or free?

paid valet. The parking is impossible so valet is really the only way to go. In summer you may be up for a longer walk

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

I got three different tacos, and the only one I didn't enjoy was due to the Mac n cheese that was stuffed in it. However, I entered the grocery because the sign in front of the restaurant entrance said it was closed. I clearly saw people working at the food counter and a customer standing there, so I went through the grocery to see what was going on. Apparently, nobody had removed the sign and left a "caution" cone blocking the door. Anyway, after the weird start, I enjoyed my experience. The colorful dining room has lots of festival streamers hanging from the ceiling and loud Mexican music playing. (Note that the grocery has an equally loud sound system playing something completely different so you get a weird stereo effect that is hard to tune out.) The dining booths go about half way back into the restaurant on both sides. Beyond the left side is a cooking area with a large menu posted over the top. The wait was fairly short considering they prepare the entrees to order. I went with a couple tacos (with the cilantro and white onion) and ordered rice and beans. Apparently the cashier had a little trouble understanding me when I ordered the Asada and Pollo tacos. I was brought out the Asada and Lomo instead. (I was the only customer at the time.) But, instead of sending it back, I like pork loin as well as chicken, so I simply added some green sauce (mild) and a few drops of red (supposed to be hot, but I didn't think it was that hot.) The tacos were excellent. They were served on double layered corn tortillas. I usually prefer flour, but wasn't given an option here. These were the best tasting corn tortilla shells I've had. And the ingredients inside were delicious with the added items being colorfully fresh. The side of beans and rice were forgettable. Not bad, just lacking much texture and flavor. Very bland and not much other than filler when compared to the robust flavor of the tacos. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was pretty clean looking, so given the high quality of flavor, I would recommend stopping by to quench your Mexican food cravings. Review #2698

I have zero complaints after visiting Social Cantina this past Sunday for Mother's Day. I must…read moreadmit that it was not my first choice, but it was a solid one. I knew that I liked the food, and I have previously enjoyed the atmosphere at their Carmel location, so I felt that it was a safe choice. We were a group of 5 and requested booth seating, so we were right behind the host stand. I wasn't thrilled about that, at first, but several larger groups were seated in the same area near the entrance. The booth was spacious and comfortable, and the decor is very bright and vibrant. I ordered the Marg of the Month for May, which was the Bee Sting Margarita. It is made with jalapeno honey and lots of slices of fresh jalapeno. Between those aspects and the bite of the tequila...I quickly understood why it was given that name! If you like a spicy marg, I would definitely suggest! I also ordered the Chips & Salsa Flight for the table. I chose the Roasted Red and Chile de Arbol salsas, along with the guac and queso. I loved all of the dips...except the chile de arbol. It was just spicy...and nothing else. No flavor other than hot. LOL For our entrees, I ordered the Steak Fajitas. I probably could've fed the entire family with the portion that I received. It's Tuesday and I'm still working on it! The steak, peppers and onions were flavorful and tender and it came with all of the pertinent toppings (shredded cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo). I also requested sour cream on the side. It was served with a side of beans and rice as well. My cousin ordered the Chicken Tinga Enchiladas and quipped that she would've liked "more tinga on her chicken". She didn't eat it all or take the leftovers home, so I'm not sure that I'd suggest that dish. One of my daughters ordered the Shrimp & Street Corn tacos without the corn, so they looked a little plain, but she liked them. She wasn't a fan of the $5.50 per taco price tag. My aunt ordered the Matador bowl and our server, Hailey, stated that it was her favorite. I had also been eyeing that on the menu. She enjoyed it and had plenty to take home with her as well. My other daughter ordered the Quesabirria tacos and supremely enjoyed her meal as well. The hosts and our server provided excellent service, and we had a really good time.

The bartender was my server she was sweet, attentive, and helpful. I'd return for something a bit different. Cute ambiance plenty of space for everyone Smaller menu but does the job.
