Had high hopes, service was friendly but slow. Food was ok, nothing was exceptional. Beef in the steak empanadas was weird, no flavor, weird texture, looked like chopped mushrooms. Was reassured it was steak... Elotes and yucca fries were cold, corn empanadas were ok, guac was bland. Carnitas were good. Atmosphere was great. Food was a disappointment.

Cute little restaurant. We were seated quickly and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Our drinks were delicious and the apps were tasty. The portion size for the entrees for the price were not great. I'm from Texas and have never had a "paella" that small. 3 shrimp and 1 scallop. Would come again but stick to other options for entrees or just do apps.

Wow. Great food and service. We had Delaney as our waitress and she is awesome. She is helpful explaining the menu on some of the items. She is great at bringing your drinks and food out quickly, she also takes the time to check up on you to see if you need anything else , great food , service and the restaurant is really nice. It does get loud inside but I put my ear buds in and that helped. We had Paella , ceviche , red drum fish .... Everything was great , Thank you Delaney for making our dinner even better

I'm still thinking about the mojo wings! Had dinner here with some friends from out of town & everything was so delicious. The service was great & so kind. Sitting on the patio serves top notch vibes too; beautiful space. The skirt steak was perfectly seasoned & just melted in my mouth, I'll be back for more! .....and the crispy treats they leave for the table are absolutely delightful.

My husband and I went here for a late dinner a couple of Thursdays ago after going to a Yelp event downtown. We used to frequent Livery a lot from 2017-2019, but hadn't been to the original location in a while and were excited for a fun date night on a weekday. We left wishing we had just stopped at Taco Bell on the way home instead. There was a half hour wait for a table, but they had open bar seats so we chose to sit at the bar. One of the bartenders (there were a few coming and going throughout our visit) stared at us without greeting us and then a minute or two later came over and slid over 2 menus to us, again without speaking. Later on another bartender came over and greeted us and took our drink order - 2 carriage house margaritas with a tajin rim. Those came out fairly quickly and he asked if we wanted to put in a food order. We said we wanted the yuca fries and he said if we wanted to put in our entrees because he could do that as well and then space them out appropriately, so my husband gave his birria short rib order and I gave my paella order. The yuca fries came out and were just as tasty as we remembered. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Cheese sauce divine. Hot. A while went by and the bartenders kept coming and going from the bar, but no one ever refilled our waters. My husband's water was empty before our entrees ever came out, and we were left with just our cocktails the rest of our time there. His short rib came out and looked and smelled amazing. The short rib was very tender and everything tasted great. Also hot. I would say another 5 minutes passed before my paella was finally served to me, not sure why they didn't come out together, and looking at it was I was excited. Upon first taste, not so much. Not one bit of my food was warm. Cold!!! Such a let down. It felt like my meal had been done well before my husband's and was left sitting out. The singular scallop was cooked perfectly, but the shrimp were already overdone, chewy, and rubbery. Sending it back to be warmed up would have made the shrimp inedible and ruined the scallop, but waiting for a whole new dish would have taken forever and my husband would have been done with his food. No one ever came over to ask if our food came out okay either, so I just ate it cold. Another thing we didn't love is that all throughout our meal other bartenders and servers would come congregate at the end of the bar where we were sitting (near the extra dishes/dishwasher/pos system) to text and talk shit about annoying customers. Never experienced this before at another Cunningham group restaurant and hope we never do again. It was very loud and unwelcoming. We finished our margaritas and kept waiting for our server to come back so we could pay and he was MIA for 15 minutes and none of the other bartenders checked on us (seems like the theme for our whole visit). At this point, we have also had 2 more people squeeze their way into seats between us and a group of girls where there wasn't room to do so and we are just wanting to leave. Our bartender finally comes back and sees us sitting there and asks if we need anything. We tell him we'd like to close out. He says he needs to go take something to a customer really quick and will be right back. Of course, not a big deal. But why ask if we need anything when he has no intention of doing so anytime soon? Just wait until you come back at that point. He didn't come back for another 8-10 minutes to close us out finally. Overall, a very disappointing $100+ meal. If we decide to stop in at Livery again, then we will drive out to the Noblesville location instead.

Get the skirt steak! I try my best to switch it up when I come here, but ever since I ordered the skirt steak, I can't let it go. It comes with broccolini and two polenta fries. They add a dollop of jalapeño butter on top of the steak which really sets it off. The Yuka fries as a starter is always a good choice also. Their seasonal cocktail list right now has a lot of fall flavors on it, so I was a bit thrown off. But, our server Josh mentioned the falling leaves cocktail is the one to get if you're looking for tequila, so I opted for that one. It also has cinnamon, burnt honey, lemon + ango bitters. It was quite tasty, but I couldn't get fall out of my head! Ps - make a reservation at this location

I love Livery! I hadn't been back in about a year or so and came back for my birthday recently. When I came here before, they normally brought out chicharrones which I always thought was a nice touch. This time they did not, although I'm thinking maybe it was because our waiter forgot, as I did see other tables get them later on. We started with drinks and I had The Carriage House and then a Mezcal Margarita. Both were boozy and super tasty! My friend and I ended up splitting two appetizers. I really loved the corn empanadas when I was here before but they aren't on the menu anymore. I would LOVE to see those back because they were amazing. Instead we settled on the Calamari and the Brussels Sprouts. We both really enjoyed the Brussels. They were big and the cheese tasted great with them. The calamari was a tad disappointing as there seemed to be hardly any calamari but a ton of red onions and jalapeños. The pieces of calamari were quite small too. The flavor was still nice though! For our mains, I went with the skirt steak and was asked if I wanted 6 oz or 12 ounces. I got the 6 oz but didn't see a price difference mentioned on the menus. Curious if there is one although the 6 oz was perfect. The steak is served medium rare and gosh, it's always so freaking good! The broccolini too and fried polenta (I think) are so so delicious. I'm always happy with this meal! My friend got the lamb and that was great too! Well balanced with the flavor profile and cooked perfectly. And for my birthday, they not only gave a signed card which I thought was a sweet touch, but then they added the churros and gosh, they are so good! The dulce de leche with the churros just hits the spot!

What a great place! My husband, 8 year old and I went tonight. We are visiting from out of town and stumbled upon it during a yelp search for a good place with a kid menu. Ambiance is versatile for a family dinner, date night or GNO! We had the Brussels to start followed by the potato tart and skirt steak. We shared the entrees and the kitchen plates it for us without us even thinking to ask. We ended with churros. All food was delicious! Shout out to Trinity, our server. What a joy! She was engaging and informative. We will definitely be back in a future visit to Indy!

Got the taco salad and substituted the beef with chicken and it was amazing! I do think that the up charge was a bit steep for the substitution (they charged seven dollars) but overall still a good amount of food for the price. A fun ambience, especially with good weather when the patio is open. The service was also great (even when going with a big group!) And they gave my friend a free birthday dessert, which was super nice!

Let's start with the service was amazing! Sat at the high tops near the bar and I swear they were fighting over us or something. Started with a couple tasty seasonal cocktails and decided to start with dessert! The Apple and the Flan were very good. Then onto the apps. Tried the Nachos and the Cauliflower. They said we should try the cauliflower if we weren't afraid of it. Glad we did, it was delicious as promised. Finally, split an entree, landed on the Barria Short Rib from the specials. This was good too, but need to go back to try something on the main menu next.

My fiancé and I have made it a tradition to grab dinner here for Valentine's Day, and this was our second year. The food is out of this world, and the service is very attentive. The ambiance is very cozy and intimate without it being loud or feeling like you are fighting for space. I highly recommend this spot if you are going on a date and want some phenomenal food near a walkable area like Mass Ave.

The staff here is marvelous. We were given perfect recommendations from our waitress. We started with the empanadas and they were wonderful. You can't miss with any of their empanada options. We split a bundle of 9 for an appetizer. Then we split their skirt steak for our entree. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. One of the better steak entrees we've had. The Caramel Tres Leches Cake was a marvelous ending to our meal. An amazing rich cake with wonderful flavor. Livery is a top restaurant in Indy. Do not miss out and be sure to get reservations!

What comes the with empanada dish for the listed price? I see so many random amounts of them in review photos. Is the $11 per one?

You receive three empanadas and a sauce.

I just got a notification that this restaurant is recommended as a budget friendly dinner ...low cost deliciousness. It is amazing restaurant But budget friendly I don't think that's exactly accurate. Do u?

I believe you can get an order of three empanadas for $12!! And the empanadas are a good size, so for a fine dining restaurant pretty affordable!

Is there an age requirement to dine here?

No, there is no age requirement.

Are there solid vegan options that aren't salad?

The cauliflower entree (also on the devour menu) is vegan. They're also really great about dietary restrictions - email ahead of your reservation and the chefs will totally take care of you!!

Can we bring our dog in your outdoor seating?

Our apologies, but our patio is not pet friendly.

Going to a concert after dinner, are shorts ok?

    Yes!

Do they take reservations this time of year, during the week?

    They do now!

    Is this restaurant kids friendly?

Yes. However, the later it gets, the less likely you'll be to find children. Also, it's a decidedly adult atmosphere.

What is the wait like on Friday nights?

We waited maybe 15 mins but we went around 6pm. If you go later, I'm sure it's a bit longer

    Is parking paid or free?

paid valet. The parking is impossible so valet is really the only way to go. In summer you may be up for a longer walk

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

My issue was mainly with the service. From the time my friend and I were seated, it took 15 minutes for us to be greeted, and we had been sitting there for more than 20 minutes before we received our drinks and had a chance to order our food. This was during the early afternoon with very little foot traffic, so I personally don't see why there was such a delay in what could've been a smooth experience.
