My husband and I went here for a late dinner a couple of Thursdays ago after going to a Yelp event downtown. We used to frequent Livery a lot from 2017-2019, but hadn't been to the original location in a while and were excited for a fun date night on a weekday. We left wishing we had just stopped at Taco Bell on the way home instead. There was a half hour wait for a table, but they had open bar seats so we chose to sit at the bar. One of the bartenders (there were a few coming and going throughout our visit) stared at us without greeting us and then a minute or two later came over and slid over 2 menus to us, again without speaking. Later on another bartender came over and greeted us and took our drink order - 2 carriage house margaritas with a tajin rim. Those came out fairly quickly and he asked if we wanted to put in a food order. We said we wanted the yuca fries and he said if we wanted to put in our entrees because he could do that as well and then space them out appropriately, so my husband gave his birria short rib order and I gave my paella order. The yuca fries came out and were just as tasty as we remembered. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Cheese sauce divine. Hot. A while went by and the bartenders kept coming and going from the bar, but no one ever refilled our waters. My husband's water was empty before our entrees ever came out, and we were left with just our cocktails the rest of our time there. His short rib came out and looked and smelled amazing. The short rib was very tender and everything tasted great. Also hot. I would say another 5 minutes passed before my paella was finally served to me, not sure why they didn't come out together, and looking at it was I was excited. Upon first taste, not so much. Not one bit of my food was warm. Cold!!! Such a let down. It felt like my meal had been done well before my husband's and was left sitting out. The singular scallop was cooked perfectly, but the shrimp were already overdone, chewy, and rubbery. Sending it back to be warmed up would have made the shrimp inedible and ruined the scallop, but waiting for a whole new dish would have taken forever and my husband would have been done with his food. No one ever came over to ask if our food came out okay either, so I just ate it cold. Another thing we didn't love is that all throughout our meal other bartenders and servers would come congregate at the end of the bar where we were sitting (near the extra dishes/dishwasher/pos system) to text and talk shit about annoying customers. Never experienced this before at another Cunningham group restaurant and hope we never do again. It was very loud and unwelcoming. We finished our margaritas and kept waiting for our server to come back so we could pay and he was MIA for 15 minutes and none of the other bartenders checked on us (seems like the theme for our whole visit). At this point, we have also had 2 more people squeeze their way into seats between us and a group of girls where there wasn't room to do so and we are just wanting to leave. Our bartender finally comes back and sees us sitting there and asks if we need anything. We tell him we'd like to close out. He says he needs to go take something to a customer really quick and will be right back. Of course, not a big deal. But why ask if we need anything when he has no intention of doing so anytime soon? Just wait until you come back at that point. He didn't come back for another 8-10 minutes to close us out finally. Overall, a very disappointing $100+ meal. If we decide to stop in at Livery again, then we will drive out to the Noblesville location instead. read more

Get the skirt steak! I try my best to switch it up when I come here, but ever since I ordered the skirt steak, I can't let it go. It comes with broccolini and two polenta fries. They add a dollop of jalapeño butter on top of the steak which really sets it off. The Yuka fries as a starter is always a good choice also. Their seasonal cocktail list right now has a lot of fall flavors on it, so I was a bit thrown off. But, our server Josh mentioned the falling leaves cocktail is the one to get if you're looking for tequila, so I opted for that one. It also has cinnamon, burnt honey, lemon + ango bitters. Got the taco salad and substituted the beef with chicken and it was amazing! I do think that the up charge was a bit steep for the substitution (they charged seven dollars) but overall still a good amount of food for the price. A fun ambience, especially with good weather when the patio is open. The service was also great (even when going with a big group!) I love Livery! I hadn't been back in about a year or so and came back for my birthday recently. When I came here before, they normally brought out chicharrones which I always thought was a nice touch. This time they did not, although I'm thinking maybe it was because our waiter forgot, as I did see other tables get them later on. We started with drinks and I had The Carriage House and then a Mezcal Margarita. Both were boozy and super tasty! My friend and I ended up splitting two appetizers. I really loved the corn empanadas when I was here before but they aren't on the menu anymore. I would LOVE to see those back because they were amazing. Instead we settled on the Calamari and the Brussels Sprouts. We both really enjoyed the Brussels. They were big and the cheese tasted great with them. The calamari was a tad disappointing as there seemed to be hardly any calamari but a ton of red onions and jalapeños. The pieces of calamari were quite small too. The flavor was still nice though! For our mains, I went with the skirt steak and was asked if I wanted 6 oz or 12 ounces. I got the 6 oz but didn't see a price difference mentioned on the menus. Curious if there is one although the 6 oz was perfect. The steak is served medium rare and gosh, it's always so freaking good! The broccolini too and fried polenta (I think) are so so delicious. I'm always happy with this meal! My friend got the lamb and that was great too! Well balanced with the flavor profile and cooked perfectly. And for my birthday, they not only gave a signed card which I thought was a sweet touch, but then they added the churros and gosh, they are so good! What a great place! My husband, 8 year old and I went tonight. We are visiting from out of town and stumbled upon it during a yelp search for a good place with a kid menu. Ambiance is versatile for a family dinner, date night or GNO! We had the Brussels to start followed by the potato tart and skirt steak. Popped in here a few weeks ago on a weeknight. We had a reservation, and were sat fairly quickly. The place was busy, but not too loud. We were sat outside, which felt nice on a cooler evening. I had chicken empanadas for my meal. They were crispy, and had a nice sauce with them. Nothing to write home about though. Service was okay, which is why it's only a four. The waitress only came to take our food/drink order, drop off drinks, and dropped off the check. She didn't check up on us throughout the meal, nor ask how everything was. Both back in Indy and back on Yelp! Kicking off Devour week with my fiancé at a new-to-us restaurant: The Livery. Though it was our first time here, it certainly won't be our last. I rarely order a drink but we are in the heat of wedding season and it felt like a necessity. I tried the carriage house margarita, which is a signature drink for the Livery and wasn't disappointed by the flavor. To kick off the first course of food, we had mushroom empanadas (for my vegetarian fiancé) and steak empanadas. Both were a pleasant combination of crunch and fresh flavor. Main course: Fiancé tore into a Devour week- exclusive: pickled pepper quesadilla. Packed with flavor and vegetables in every bite, his entree got rave reviews. He only wishes this was part of the regular menu. I enjoyed the skirt steak with a server recommended sauce which was similar to an aioli. It's always a good sign when not only the main leaves you wanting more, but also the polenta and shockingly flavorful broccolini. We wrapped up with what fiancé has deemed the best churros he's ever had with a delicious caramel sauce and the seasonal sugar cookie flan. Both were texturally perfect and absolutely beyond tasty. Lastly but certainly not least, our server Hannah went above and beyond to ensure not only our water binging habits were quenched (she must've filled our glasses like six times, but also made masterful menu recommendations. We cannot wait to come back to Livery again to visit Hannah and see what the full menu has to offer. What a strong start to Devour week! read more

We visited the winery down the street First and explain to her that we don't like typical chain restaurants and wanted to try something different so this was a suggestion. It was very crowded when we arrived so I knew it was a hot spot or either had to be really good. The decor was really nice. It kind of gave Date Night vibes like not too dressy but something to get dressed up cute for. They offer an inside seating and outside seating as well as upstairs and downstairs. Since they had such a lengthy wait time, we decided to opt for the bar upstairs, which was great and fast. The bartenders were really good with their suggestions and also gave us suggestions of things to do as far as nightlife goes. As far as the drinks go, they were definitely strong in a good way and did exactly what they needed to do. I did not need more than one and that makes me very happy lol. For the food, everything was very fresh and you can tell it was made to order. All the flavors were really good and they did not lack on seasoning either. I've been coming to livery since it opened, but hadn't been for 18 months - 2 years. I brought my boyfriend, visiting from the east coast, and was so disappointed in the visit. The inventive cocktail menu I remember is now stilted and heavily focused on tequila to a fault. The texture of the fries was off putting (think deep fried mashed potatoes in the least pleasant way possible), my birria entree was lukewarm and all I could taste was tomato paste, and the cheese on his tacos was sour. The calamari was very good, and the Carriage House margarita was excellent. Unfortunately, the entrées didn't meet expectations. The birria lacked flavor and seasoning, and the carrots were undercooked and crunchy. The mushroom empanadas also came out slightly cool in the middle. Because our server was so wonderful, we chose not to raise these issues during our visit. Arrived right when opened on a Saturday evening. First one's to be seated. Nice, quiet ambiance with dim lighting and large windows for natural light. The one thing I didn't like was that you could see into the kitchen right upon entering the restaurant. It was located behind the hostess stand. The menu is a modern latin vibe. They offer the most amazing chicharrons as an appetizer. Theirs's is made with pasta, instead of pork, so they are vegetarian. They also have them for purchase, to go at $5 for a bag. We started with the cauliflower appetizer. I was worried that it wouldn't be enough for two people, but it was. It was so delicious, and I don't even like cauliflower! While staying downtown, near the convention center we ventured out here by Uber because we wanted a more local experience. The reviews for this place are high and rightly so, the entire experience was great! Our server, Joshua W was excellent and very engaging. His help and guidance with the menu was also spot-on and welcomed! They do a nice job with pan-Latin dishes here and if you ask for their habanero sauce, be in for a fire-breathing great time! Everything we tried was excellent and made with fresh ingredients. Their "paella" is more of a deconstructed very of the actual dish with scoops of rice, then seafood served on top and the flavor was really nice. Loved their street corn too, which they serve on or off the cob. Save room for dessert, they have an unbelievable blueberry tres leche! The venue itself was great and they offer much in the way of spirits. If you get their margarita, you can ask for salt, sugar, or Tajin on the rim. We had a great time! The staff was super nice and accommodating! My friend is gluten free and they provided corn tortillas for her to enjoy the taco bar as well. She was patient and seemed excited to be sharing our dining experience. The Chicharrones, brought to the table as a no-charge snack, were delicious! I could have made a meal out of them! LOL We ordered the cauliflower appetizer. Our friend who'd been here before asked about the heat of the dish. Here again, our waitress excelled. We had the sauce in a cup to ensure the dish wasn't overly hot. What the dish was, was overly delicious! We ordered both shrimp and chicken tacos as well as corn empanadas. Everything was very tasty. The only negative, and this was on us, was we were in a hurry to get to a show. We didn't have the opportunity to really relax and enjoy.
