My fourth Dine Out Boston 2026 Winter visit: Alma Gaucha, the Brazilian rodizio, with colleagues. The meat was delicious, the salad station was plentiful, and we ate until we were stuffed... Meat Serving: My favorites were all kinds of beef! The Premium of Top Sirloin and Top Sirloin with Garlic were extremely juicy and tender, as you can see. I recommended medium rare, and don't cook it more than medium. Tri-Tip Steak and Tri-Tip Steak with Cheese were relatively coarse, but had a layer of fat that made them more flavorful. I recommended medium; medium-well would be too dry. Lamb Steak was juicy and flavorful, with no gamey taste, so eat with confidence. Chicken Wrapped with Bacon and Chicken Legs were garlic-flavored, but the meat was a bit tough. Cheese with Honey was a calorie bomb but really delicious; the cheese had a slightly gamey taste, and the more honey, the better. Most importantly, the grilled meats here are just the right amount of salty; only the Chicken Heart and Pork Sausage were very salty. There were various sauces to choose from, but I personally recommend the oily and slightly sour Chimichurri, or simply salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Salad Station: Foods were plentiful and all very fresh and of good quality. My favorite was the Apple Salad, which was like the old-fashioned "fruit and salad dressing" version from my childhood--it was nostalgic and had a wonderfully refreshing sweet and sour taste. The Smoked Trout was tender and had a wonderfully flavorful fat, but considering it from freshwater , I only had a small taste. The Clam Chowder had a rich creaminess that perfectly complemented the umami of the clams. The Bruschetta, with its creamy sweetness from roasted garlic paired with the crispy bread, was a delightful little treat. Side Dishes: My personal favorite was the Mashed Potatoes, fried potato balls with a crispy, airy exterior and a creamy filling. The Yucca Croquette was like a tapioca version of Pão de Queijo, with the same crispy crust and mochi-like texture, but a milder cheese flavor. The Caramelized Bananas were too soft and mushy; cooked bananas always have a rotten taste. The Crispy Polenta was very hard, mainly cornstarch, and had little flavor. Desserts: The waiter's recommendation, the Red Velvet Cake, was definitely on point. It was less sweet and had a gentler sweetness, more suitable for Chinese tastes. If you like it sweeter, get more of the part with white chocolate sauce. The Mango Cake had a very smooth mousse and a rich mango flavor. The Keylime Pie was too sweet and sour, too strong a flavor. read more

Let me start off by saying that this was my favorite Brazilian Rodizio that I've been to many times since they've been open. It has been consistent for the most part in terms of their food selection, but this time they did not offer Fraldinha or Alcatra anymore on their Dine Out Boston menu. Their cold/hot food bar is better than Fogo's selection by far. It seemed there were more limited meats that came by especially since we were seated close to the entrance of the restaurant despite my card being green the whole time. I would expect everything on the limited menu to show up at least once and the wait time for specific cuts of meat took way too long even with requesting a cut from the staff. Somehow the cheese with honey never shows up either. I went during weekday lunch and the restaurant was semi-busy in the front half of the place up until the end of my visit in which there were only a few tables left and I still didn't get any additional Picanha. They came around with the cheaper alternatives more often. The meats I was served were seasoned well, but the variation in temperature for cuts I got were somewhat off putting despite requesting medium rare each time. There were some perfect temps to start off, but half the time they cut me thin slices of well done meat. That was my table's experience this time around unfortunately. I'd come back again since I've had many better experiences here over the years and I hope this was a fluke and not the fact that it has gone downhill. read more

Stopped by for a quick late lunch at the bar and was immediately happy with two kinds of Brazilian bread. One was cheesy and the other was made with yuca, and both were delicious. The waiter was very pleasant. There was a little mix-up with our order. The chicken Caesar salad didn't come out on time, so we thought about canceling it. We also ordered a beef appetizer. My boyfriend loved it and ate it all, but I wasn't a fan because the meat was cold. I asked if it was supposed to be cold, and they immediately comped it and offered to bring a fresh batch. We said it was fine. The chicken Caesar salad eventually arrived and was really good. The chicken had a nice twist in the seasoning, and it would have been amazing in a wrap. Laying over at the Aloft Boston Seaport and wanted a quick takeaway meal. Alma Gaúcha Prime Brazilian Steakhouse is easy to get to through the hotel lobby - since I ordered takeout, I can't speak on the full dine-in experience, just the food. I got the Chicken & Picanha combo with rice and black beans. Other side choices included Caesar salad or Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The rice and beans were actually really good, and they give you two solid portions, which I appreciated. The meat, though... not my favorite. I love chicken thighs for how juicy they normally are, but these were a bit dry and shriveled. And my steak, which I asked for medium, came out more on the well-done side. The atmosphere is amazing, the lighting wasn't overly bright. The tables were spaced nicely. I got the lychee martini and that was really tasty. The first cut of meat came out quicker than I expected it to. And all of it tasted great. The servers were really nice and the service was great. 10/10 worth the price. We got the chocolate molten cake for dessert and it was amazing. It was my birthday and the servers came out with the dessert with a candle in it and sand and clapped. I was quite underwhelmed with the quality of the meat. Almost all of the portions we received were overcooked. The salad bar was amazing though. I did notice that the batch of meat that came out as we were finishing up was A LOT better than the ones we received so I attributed our overcooked meal to timing. We ate around 4:45 pm, which must've been the end of their early afternoon rush. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and the staff was patient with explaining the process to us. They also made it a point to walk by to see if there were any particular meats that we wanted to eat so that they would bring it out quicker. I was craving some meat and decided to try a rodizio for the first time. I went for lunch, and they had two price options: $23, which doesn't include meat, and $45, which does, so I went straight for the $45. From the moment I walked in, the host greeted us very warmly. The staff was extremely friendly-someone even pulled out my chair for me to sit. The restaurant is beautiful, with well-arranged tables and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. I went on a Monday, so it wasn't very busy, but I really appreciated that the staff was constantly checking to make sure all the food was fresh, well presented, and kept at the right temperature. This was my first Brazilian steakhouse experience and I came here as part of a group of 4 a few weeks back, while Alma Gaucha had an ongoing DineOut Boston promotion where they were offering AYCE dinner for $46 per person. There's no doubt in my mind that this is by far the best deal of the entire Dine Out Boston period - I can guarantee that you won't find any other place that's this worth your money! I was impressed by the freshness of their sides and salads - the buffet section wasn't overwhelmingly huge and it definitely seemed like they wanted to highlight quality over quantity. They also had a couple of hot dishes for people to sample - their clam chowder was decent. The one thing that I kept on going back for was their candied bacon - it was truly dangerously addicting. The highlight was definitely the meat selections that were served throughout our meal. I think the servers did a great job making sure that there was a variety and even though they were quite busy, I appreciated how they tried to take our preferences into account (the size of the piece, what temperature we preferred, etc etc) whenever they could. There was truly so much food that we definitely had to prioritize which ones we wanted to try. I passed on most of the chicken and pork samples. I really liked the premium of top sirloin! Their ribs were also super tender. I'm not a lamb person at all but even I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try a small piece of their lamb steak, which was very juicy and flavorful and not too gamey at all. The cheese with honey is definitely a must-try in my opinion as well, but it's definitely very heavy and not as worth as the rest of the meat selections! The servers made sure that the sides of cheesy bread (had a very fun mochi-like texture), fried polenta, and yucca were always filled. I was truly impressed by how wonderful and attentive the service was! And I also appreciated how they had a very clear allergen list. My only disappointment was that they had a strict set of two desserts that each person could choose from (a chocolate brownie or a slice of red velvet cake), and they weren't able to offer a gluten-free dessert (even though they definitely had gluten-free options available on their regular menu) for someone with a strict gluten allergy. Since they were really good about accommodating allergies with everything else, that was understandably a letdown unfortunately. There aren't many restaurants within easy walking distance to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. But thank goodness Alma Gaucha is one of them! Located on the main floor of the Aloft Hotel, Alma Gaucha has everything you want in a Brazilian steakhouse experience, minus the large crowds often found in large city convention areas. I sat at the bar, which still allowed me to order a 'bar size' portion of their famous skewer meats (chicken, lamb, shrimp and of course picanha steak!). The custom cocktails were excellent and I even veered off their menu to ask if they could make a caipirinha. The bartender was thrilled I asked! Bonus that a few other diners saw this and ordered the same. Icing on the cake was most of the staff were actually Brazilian. This place is located on the first floor of a hotel. It is extremely clean and very well decorated. I've heard of Brazilian Steak Houses but never tried one. This particular one is Down by The Lawn at D (cool place to hang outside). Also close to the Waterfront. They give you a coaster that is red on one side and green on the other. Red means stop or not ready, green means feed me. Lol But seriously, as soon as you flip from red to green, almost every waiter in the place comes over to you with different types of meats & chicken. But before that, you get to go the buffet which is loaded with many types of Brazilian salads, fruits, cheeses, chowder, soup, veggies, etc. Once you turn green, they bring fried plantains, cheesy potato balls, small pop overs, etc. Pretty reasonably priced from 11:30-4:00 Monday through Friday. You need to google them for other hours. Of course they are open for dinner daily. We never wanted for anything. The bar isn't that big but is loaded! Chose water on this day. We got the molten lave cake for desert. Oh my, we should have been wheeled out of the place! We were stuffed! Delicious, priced right, bring your appetite. We just stopped in for a quick lunch and did not get the AYCE meat sword buffet. However, we did order the delicious steak sandwich which was absolutely amazing! It was so good, we went back again the next day as it was convenient (in the hotel at which we were staying). We ordered the sandwich again and it wasn't even close to being as good as the previous day's version. It is a dining experience for sure, we got seated and taken care of by our servers very professionally. I love the salad and appetizers buffet, everything was well seasoning. The service here is great! They come by with more food than you can eat. It's very nice and spacious inside. It also happens to be right across from the Lawn on D. I came with a friend during the Best of Boston and we had a great time. We definitely ate much more than we had planned. All of the meat we had was really good. Perhaps because my friend and I were there on the earlier side (~6:30 pm), so much food were served. Our plates were full the entire time. It did get much busier by the time we left. My friend and I made a Friday dinner reservation for two a week prior and there were plenty of availabilities. The place seems to be fitting for large parties as well. Everything was amazing, especially the service! Victor and Anna (sorry not sure if that's who helped him or not) were so accommodating and made sure to check on us frequently. They asked if everything was good and also asked us if we would like any particular cut of meat that had not come around yet. I requested filet mignon mid rare and within two minutes (not kidding), the filet showed up at my table! The salad bar had wonderful options for everyone. They have variety of food at the buffet sections and then you can sit at your table and the servers will bring you the Brazilian meat. Would be nice if there is a label somewhere of what the meat is so we wouldn't have to keep asking the servers. Sopped in for a couple of glasses of wine and an appetizer to hold me until dinner. I order the picanha appetizer which was three thick cuts of sirloin that arrived hanging from a skewer. With a really delicious chimachuri (sp?) to pour on it. The appetizer came with two appetizers. One was 3 potato croquettes and three, what looked like muffins. Also very delicious. I heard about this place after my friends came here and saying it is a brazilian steakhouse. All i know was fogo de chao so i thought i come try it! I didn't realize this was right across the street from lawn on D. Parking is street parking but i was able to find parking on a Saturday Night. The interior was fancy but not too fancy. There were dark black and red tones and the main area seating was a bit small, but it stretches out to more seating in the back. I would say the tables are not right next to each other but are closer. I haven't had a problem moving around to get to the sides table, but i did have to make loops just to avoid asking people to move in. There were a ton of sides with my favorite being the two different types of smoked salmon. I tried not to get full on the sides but everything looked amazing. My go to sides are smoked salmon, pasta salad, tomatoes, and potato salad. For the meats, I will say i feel like since we were in the corner and next to a large party, we did have to flag some people down that were carrying the meats cuz they would miss our table. All the meats were cooked nicely, however i would say it is really salty. I did drink a lot of water and that filled me up pretty fast. Overall though the service was great, they filled out waters up and even brought us plates in the beginning without us asking. We had a conference meeting near by decided to hop here for lunch since it was within walking distance. Without any expectations or what they serve in general we went in blindly not knowing this was a Brazilian Steak house. We ordered the salad bar with meat for lunch and I have to say the meats here was cooked perfectly ! From sirloins, to lamb chops, to filet mignon you name it! Service was impeccable as expected in this type of franchise. AS for the salad bar it was my least desired. Not that I don't like my greens! I always have room for greens! but their salads were a bit on the mediocre side. The potato salad had a bit of a funk and their spread of cheese and meats was a bit on the off putting. But their greens were fresh and their cucumbers, tomatoes were crisp so points for that! Overall I'd enjoy the meal and it was convenient since it was close to our hotels and for the lunch price.
