We were passing through Denton and search Google for a sandwich shop. I asked the cashier to order me his favorite - no clue what it was called but dang it was good! Firey Diesel or something! Turkey jalapeño cream cheese salami bacon and lettuce tomato onion... stupid good! Pretty sure it was garlic bread Then the 5-0 it is just dumb how good these sandwiches were. Grape Kool-aid!!! We love Cheba Hut!! I always get the Cali Mist, hubby always mixes it up with the local favorites, and our son always gets a cold salami sandwich. Their pretzel bits and munchies are a nice treat. It's always so consistent and delicious. Our favorite subs hands down. Everything is always fresh and we've never gotten an unfavorable order. We drive over 25 minutes just to come to Denton for these subs. The place is usually clean including the bathrooms. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I just moved to Denton three weeks ago and I got dinner from here tonight. I got sandwiches for myself and my two young adult kids. All of them agreed with me that these subs are seriously good and are much better than an average sub. I don't think Cheba Hut is even in the same league as other sub chains. The 420 theme is funny and cool. But on that note, I happened to get the munchies tonight (*cough*) and I had thought in advance to get one of the crispy treats, just to see if they were all that. I feel like each time I return it's like a form of self hatred. I've came to this location multiple times due to the convenience, and each time the order is wrong. Once I came and they just gave me a completely different sandwich which required me to return back to the shop to retrieve the sandwich I paid for...I should have gotten gas reimbursed. The most recent time, half of the ingredients in the sandwich seized to exist. It was plain jane and such a waste of my money. If it were a busier day, I would understand and extend some grace but for me being the only person order, there really isn't an excuse. Food 4-Star Service 2-Star (everyone was polite but getting food out quickly wasn't a priority). Ordered in store to eat there and waiting 45 minutes for sandwiches is ridiculous!!!! They had plenty of employees but no one had any sense of urgency. I get there were a lot of to go orders but in store patrons should never wait 45 minutes! We had plenty of time and ended having to take part of our order to go and we were late because they were so slow! One sandwich came out wrong after waiting that long. Unfortunately, I fell ill several hours after eating here. Maybe a coincidence, but I won't go back.

My son decided to take me here today since I was visiting and he attends UNT and the atmosphere helped make me feel comfortable. I was worried all restaurants and bars near a university would be chaotic and that the staff would not give us much attention. However, Cheba Hut was the complete opposite from the food to the wonderful bartender Violet she was very kind and attentive to us and her personality seemed very mature I was shocked when I realized she is ONLY 20 yet she Carrie's herself as a professional and I mistook for a 25 year old she really made the experience whole for me. Next time I visit I will stop by again. My only suggestion is for the bar to have a wider selection read more

This is our go-to sandwich spot in Denton now. We were so sad when Potbelly closed down. Cheba Hut is even better. The toasted sandwiches are fantastic. Tons of options on the menu, fresh ingredients, delicious bread. The French onion soup is fantastic. Full bar, awesome people/service, great music and live games on, and a comfortable friendly vibe. I would probably rate it a 3.5 out of 5 but 3 felt too harsh. It was really nice and the ambiance was great but the food wasn't very good, I could probably make a better sandwich at home. They forgot my avocado which I specifically picked my sandwich for and I couldn't finish it which was really disappointing because I wanted to like it. The service was good, I just came in to grab my food and left so no issues there. I'm mostly just sad I didn't get what I paid for in my sandwich. Overall just okay! read more
