First time trying here because I wanted a dog. The service was good, then again I was the only person there when I went, and the food was good as well. I decided to try something different and got their pastrami dog. I can see why people were talking about the pastrami being salty and it was, though not too bad for what I got since there was so much going on. I don't do Mayo, so got it without that she overall it was a pretty good dog. I did decide to pay the extra $4 for chili cheese fries instead of regular fries, but it was soooo worth it. Yes the chili wasn't made there, so was made and shipped in (they said it was made in their Detroit location), but it's all good and tasted pretty good imo. The food was okay but nothing special. We had really poor service and our waitress wasn't good or even friendly. I had to ask for coffee twice-once when ordering and once when the food came out because that was the only time we really saw her. We never got a refill on drinks. My husband ended up drinking my water when his ran out. I had one napkin to work with my entire meal and it was a messy one- and as far as we could tell there was no public bathroom to wash my hands. We weren't checked on until it was bill time. After the awful service, I had a charge on my bill that I wasn't expecting. I politely asked the waitress about it and she was nothing but rude. This was not a "let me talk to your manager" Karen situation, this was a simple ask about my bill and she got rude about it-the end. It might be a great place for some people. The food is nothing special, quite overpriced for one item, and the service is okay, I don't know if it was just me, but when I walked in, the lady was telling me that I could be seated I could take my seat, I was just by myself. I sat in the back, the table was dirty. Quite chaotic for a small restaurant. Took forever for them to even hand me a menu or give me silverware. Matter of fact, my silverware didn't come until I got my food and I had to ask for napkins. I got a waffle with fruit on top of it and chocolate when she handed me my food I got a little packet of syrup when I finished my meal and I look around and everybody else's table and they got food. They got a whole bottle of syrup. Now I don't know if it's just because I'm colored or if I just seated myself or if it was just my waitress, not sure but that just seems a little off to me. When I saw the sidewalk sign mentioning their Brioche French Toast, I decided to give this place a try. Fortunately, the notice on the door did not give me second thoughts. Rather than needlessly occupy one of the available tables and booths, I decided to sit at the counter. One of the three waitresses came over to take my coffee and food order. When I ran out of coffee and looking for my waitress, she was a few seats away on her meal break. Of the two remaining waitresses, only one was waiting on the diners at the booths and tables. Unless the third waitress was also on a break, she could have waited on me and allowed the other one peacefully enjoy her meal. Fortunately, my waitress regularly checked on me while on her meal break. As for my meal, the Brioche French Toast was okay. After confirming I was given maple syrup, my waitress offered more. I declined as I did want to drown the French toast. The egg custard was light on one side as I was tasting the bread; otherwise, it was okay. I enjoyed the sausage patties more than the french toast. My waitress left the counter, so one of the other two waitresses served my check. Stopped in for Halloween week. Never been here just happened to see it on the square. I don't know what was going on but under staffed is an understatement. I don't know if workers were a no show, but probably should not have been open with 1 waitress. First bad sign was the "seat yourself" we waited 15 plus minutes she kept saying be with you in a minute but never came! Tables were leaving. There was no apologies. Food: 7 out of 10 I've been meaning to go here for awhile, and glad that I finally did. They serve breakfast all day, which is my favorite ;) We ordered the hungry man breakfast, the dix special, as well as an order of the cinnamon roll French toast. It was all very filling and tasty. Dix is always the place to be for my friends and I whether it comes to birthday, a casual lunch/ breakfast, dinner...anything! I was hesitant to try the gyro given the last picture of it was 6 years ago and looked really sad, but I ordered it today & it was AMAZING! I usually get the 3 cheese grilled cheese but i'm lactose intolerant so i opted for something else that would be easier on my stomach. It was well worth the change of order! I was so excited to try this place! Monday night my friend and I ate at the restaurant and split the all American hot dog and pastrami burger. My friend only ate the hot dog and was fine. I ate both items. Approximately 8 hours after I was severely vomiting. I was sick for four days and I'm still sore and recovering. I called and talked to the manager. But I can only get a refund if have a doctors note for food poisoning. I unfortunately don't have health insurance at the moment. I've been home self medicating and have receipts of the medicine that I've purchased for recovery. Moral of the story is to please practice food safety protocols and check if your food is of good heath. And if you want a simple refund for getting sick at a restaurant and you have no insurance, then good luck because there is no winning. I've never had food poisoning before and this is by far that most physically painful thing I've experienced. read more

They used to be open later but ever since covid they close at 11pm. I so wanted this place to shine. My wife was having a chili craving so I decided to take her there based on a Yelp search. Their chili was pretty good and meet her craving but didn't stand out as a great bowl of chili. The restaurant was very cold inside, we left our coats on. Between the 3 of us we had a chili dog, chili cheese burger, and one of their Dix dogs. We also split an order of chili cheese waffle fries. The hot dogs they use are kind of pricey for a standard sized hot dog not a 1/4 lb dog. The waitress was friendly but the service was not very good. The waitress actually slung part of the toppings off of my dog on to the floor and only decided to take it back to the kitchen after she saw the look on my face. And the spilled mayo and pickles were still sitting on the floor when we left. I guess we will have to continue the search for a great bowl of chili. read more

I'm from Detroit... this is a reasonable attempt at a Detroit coney but it's definitely not same as national or Leo's. Came here at 6:30 on a Saturday, pretty bad experience... the cook was completely overwhelmed and buried. I expect when I come into a coney the food comes out in a reasonable time, this guy was chronically in the weeds-- no urgency at all and they definitely needed another cook tonight. He looked a bit lost at times- no faster way to kill a diner then a slow line cook. And no surprise he lost our order and acted with no urgency to replace it. Shameful... absolutely shameful. It took over an hour to get our food. The only redeeming setup of this place is a nice counter to grab food and cool booths. Location is great and looks like this is a 24 hour coney. I had two coneys- coney sauce looked great and tasted Detroit style- only negative is the dog was not a wiener and was a beef hot dog. Ya gotta have some snap In those babies when serve them.
