The first time I tried their subs, it has stayed my favorite spot on the Eastside. I get different variations of it, always turns out really good. I am a big fan of the bread. I used to love to get the kool aid. I love eating here too cause the inside is 420 themed and has cool drawings on the wall. I've been here for a happy hour special during the week and it was decently priced drinks. Always young workers but they are nice.

If you love a good sub, you've got to try Cheba Hut (if you haven't already). These sandwiches hit the spot and packed a serious flavor punch. I love how you can get a 4" sub - my go to for beach days. They have six tasty vegetarian sub options and could probably make whatever combo you were in the mood for. They also wrap subs in foil to keep them toasted if you order pick up or to go. Inside you'll also find a Kool-Aid drink dispenser! And a bar at the front of the house. The guy who took my order/payment was so nice, patient and helpful. If you do during lunch hour be prepared for a slight wait-this place can get slammed. Oh yeah they have free parking too in a busy part of the city.

This place has been on my radar for awhile. Love sub sandwiches and loved the variety. This place is definitely a vibe. Their menu is huge and there's a nice size bar if you wanna hang and get drinks. As far as N/A drinks..this is the first time I've seen koolaid in a restaurant and I'll tell you right now, I am a fan! Koolaid with my sub completes the meal, we'll be back for sure !

I've now ordered from Cheba Hut a couple of times and enjoyed all the veggie options, hot and cold, that they offer. It's rare to have so many choices so that's an immediate plus. I stopped by in person recently in need of post-fasting food for my partner. The 5-0 called out to him in his famished state and I got him a huge sandwich which has become a new favorite for him. I tried the tuna melt, which was really good. I was surprised by the restaurant itself. I had no idea that they had such a large space, a full bar and expansive hours. Now I know where to go after a show. The sandwiches are a tad expensive, but what isn't these days?

Kali Mist, hold the bacon

The online reviews and such seemed pretty good for Cheba Hut but I wasn't sure what to expect. They have a marijuana theme and stuffed-looking toasted sandwiches. They have their own "shake" seasoning that comes standard on most of the sandwiches along with their house dressing. They have a bar so the experience is elevated a little bit above the average sub shop. The menu looked appetizing so I decided to go. You order at the counter and if you're dining in they bring the food out to you. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few people at tables and several others at the bar. This location is near UWM and seems popular with the student crowd. I had the Kali Mist without the bacon. I was pretty hungry and I'm glad I got the 8" ("pinner") sandwich. The 12" ("blunt") would have been too much. The sandwich was a little bit overstuffed to the point of stuff falling out, but it was good. I liked that the pickle spear was right in the sandwich. The flavors complemented each other well. Maybe next time I would ask for a lighter hand with the chipotle mayo. I like that there were multiple vegetarian options as well, many of them featuring portobello mushrooms. The menu also features a couple of local favorites by location. Cheba Hut is open late and has a selection of "munchies" like cheese bread or a bowl of meatballs with sauce. Sometimes that's what you want most in the world.

Very good BYOSandwich! Positives: garlic bread, fresh ingredients Negatives: 13$ after tax and tip for 8 in sandwich- pricey, not enough toppings like 1 tomato for whole sandwich and crumbles of jalapeño and peppers, not spicy enough, 15 minute wait for sandwich not at rush hour Rec: add more toppings and add pesto sauce to menu, speed up how quickly sandwich's are made

AK-47 was delicious!

I tried a 4 inch AK-47 (French Dip) which had Roast beef, portobello, onions, shrooms, double provolone and Shake, served with Au Jus on the side. It was delicious! I also tried the Magic Mushroom (Teriyaki Shroom) which was great! My husband had the 4 inch Chronic (BBQ Roast Beef) and the Kali Mist (Spicy Club). He loved both of them! We tried several munchies including the Loaded Not'Chos and a couple Bowl O' Balls- one Teriyaki and one Greek. We loved the Teriyaki one. There is a full bar available with specialty drinks including the Dirty Hippie, Ms Parker and Cheba Rita. If you're in the mood for a 'Toasted' Sub and munchies, give this place a try!

I stopped at Cheba Hut to get a quick bite before a movie I had near by. The menu is reasonably large and the items are diverse if you're adventurous. Unfortunately for me, I'm kind of a picky eater and usually end up removing most veggies. I ordered a four inch La Canna (Italian) because I didn't want to waste it if I didn't like it and had the least amount of stuff to remove (onions, tomatoes, pickles). What was left was the ham, salami, prosciutto, provolone, black olives, lettuce, shake (oregano and parmesan), and house (vinegar and oil). For what I had I thought the sub was very good. The vinegar didn't overpower like I was afraid it would and the bread was nicely toasted. I was eating in a dark car while driving, so I couldn't see the black olives and wasn't sure for a while that they were even on there, but eventually I was able to taste them. Maybe a little more black olive would have been appreciated. I wish I had gotten a larger size, but will next time.

We stopped here today because they have a full service bar. We wanted drinks and they have a lot of great choices which include their happy hour drinks until 9pm. Great music playing in the background. There is a food menu. Will try it next time. But if you're looking for great cocktails, check them out!

There were several servers hanging around and it wasn't clear where I could order. Sat at the counter and was ignored for 5 min. The server came over and told me to go to the deli area. It was a challenge to understand the clerk. A quart and pint of soup with a bagel and lox was $40. While I waited i read recent reviews and was alarmed. What happened to the best Jewish deli in our area? The lox tasted very fishy, like smoked fish. Unlike any lox I'd ever eaten. I asked for capers and regretted it; there were so many and with only the tiniest shmear of cream cheese, it was inedible. Too salty to be edible. The bagel was ok, but couldn't eat much of it. The chicken soup with mishmosh also disappointed. The lid was swimming in grease. I discarded it carefully. There was 1 matzo ball (ok), tons of noodles (meh) rice (ugh - underdone and inedible) and a kreplach ( I had to spit it out - filling was rancid and sour). The broth was tasteless and unseasoned. What happened to Benji's? So sad.

There are tables and chairs, but it's tight and when it got busy with people coming to pick up their lunch, would feel weird sitting down to eat. Previous review stands (3/25/2022) This is another happy review. I'm happy to report that the burgers have improved significantly since my last review 4 years ago. Korean BBQThey toned down on the shredded cabbage and the sauce in the korean bbq burger. Everything balanced out much better than what I remember, and I could actually taste the kimchi inside this time. The meat was cooked to a nice medium, and travelled well in our to-go order. Soft Shell CrabThey put two whole deep fried soft shell crabs in one burger. Topped off with a lot of arugula, bacon and tomatoes. It was good, but not quite as balanced out as the Korean BBQ burger. I'm not quite sure what it is... Lacking some sauce?Overall, the place had some great burgers and I would definitely go back more often that I have recently. But there's a little bit missing still to give it a whopping 5 star review. Plus the buns were really bready... a little less dough would have been nice. And on the downside... the fries weren't awesome. They were ok. But felt more like baked fries than deep fried. In any case, I love improvements and having great joints in my neighborhood. We came on a Sunday before they officially started serving breakfast and just had pastries available, but we were getting together with some friends for our monthly coffee date and didn't need a whole meal necessarily. The selection was a bit more limited than I would have expected from a boulangerie, but the cinnamon roll was very good (probably would have been better if it had been warmed up but that was not offered). And the cookies that we brought home (chocolate chip and gingersnap) were also very good. I also tried a bite of my husband's quiche and it was very good--definitely made in-house! I can say this place serves delicious doner kebab on fresh housemade bread on par with what I tasted in Germany. Doner Kebab can be ordered as Classic on their housemade bread, as a Wrap, as a Bowl, or as a Donerdilla (quesadilla with Doner using their wrap), and you can choose beef or chicken. They have a couple of side dishes, including fries and loaded fries, plus fountain drinks and bottled drinks. The dining room seats about 20 people. I visited twice, so far. First visit was for dine-in about 2 weeks ago, but there were large orders ahead of me, so my wait time reached a point where I asked them to switch my order to carry-out, and I ate it over 90 minutes later after my appointment. After 90 minutes, the doner kebab was still delicious even without reheating it. Ofcourse the fries became soggy as expected but seasoning was really good. I went back over this past weekend for dine-in. Wait time was only about 15 minutes, and this time the fries were perfectly crisp and still had the great seasoning blend, plus a tasty garlic sauce for dipping. They do not have ketchup for fries, and I like that. They have 3 sauces to choose from: garlic, herb, and spicy. The Classic Doner Kebeb was even better eaten fresh, but flavors were about the same as my carry-out sandwich eaten "cold," which speaks to the consistency. Be patient in your visit because it is a small team of 2 taking and prepping orders, and there may be call-in orders or large orders ahead of you. I will definitely go back to try everything else on the menu!
