When you go someplace call Cheddars and it bills itself as a "casual cafe" let's just say I didn't have high expectations. In truth, long ago I had been to a Cheddars in Dallas and vaguely remembered it as Denny's only nicer. I am not sure if Cheddars would appreciate that description, but it is almost right on. Cheddars is basically a chain bar and grill - so maybe a better comparison is to Chili's or something. The menu consists of lots of burgers and chicken tenders on the menu to fill the kiddies bellies and bring smiles to their face. Plus they have a full bar and good prices to make the grown ups happy too. I had a chicken sandwich that I liked OK, but do not remember a thing about except that it came on bread and had chicken and avocado. Plus we shared the Texas Fries (cheese/bacon/fries with ranch). It was all unremarkable, but good enough for the price. I can definitely see coming here with my stepson - it is very kid friendly. I think 3 out of 5 tables in my eye shot had babies at them. It is suburbia so it is a kid friendly kind of place! It wasn't bad and since it is in our neck of the woods we will likely be back! The food is yummy and the atmosphere is very nice. We've been here a few times and had very friendly customer service every time. We've never had a long wait. Beware the painkiller cocktail. While delicious it made tipsy and loopy after drinking only about half. I also have a low tolerance for alcohol and the glass is huge. read more

I am a fan of Cheddars from my days in Texas. I was really excited when I heard one was opening in the Denver area. We went last night with the family and it was just like I remember! We were quoted a wait of 35 minutes, which is normal for a new restaurant, but we were pleasantly surprised when it was more like a 20 minute wait. Once we were seated, we were greeted promptly by our server. Our drinks from the bar were extremely prompt, especially considering how busy the bar was (standing room only). Our food was delivered fast and fresh. The food quality here is very good. We ordered a spinach dip for an app, chicken fried steak, an alfredo pasta dish, an entree salad, and kids chicken tenders. The prices here are really low for what you get. Our margaritas (large schooner glasses) were $5 something. The apps are in the $5 and $6 range. And the entrees were $7 to $9. They even had some great lunch specials. And don't get me wrong. I would never recommend a place based on price, as I believe in good quality, delicious food, and I will pay more for food all day long that meets that criteria. The food is not terrible but nothing spectacular. It is more of a step up from Village Inn/Denny's than the ambiance suggests. The real problem is in the service. We had a party of 13 that came in an hour before it closed. I thought they would be rude but customer service was outstanding and the food was amazing. They took a little long to set a place for our big party,but it was with the wait!! Even the kids meal chicken fingers were delicious. I had a mushroom/Swiss burger, it wasn't big but it was yummy! My friend who had the ribs, said this was one of the best ribs he had. Also they have margaritas for $7 that included a shot with it!! I guess that's really cheap compared to home. Wow, color me impressed by Cheddar's! I'm usually not a chain restaurant kind of gal but I had a gift card to any Darden Group restaurant and I decided to finally give Cheddar's a shot. They were busy for a weeknight so my husband and I ended up sitting at the bar and service was prompt but not overbearing. They have a small beer list but extensive drink lots and reasonable prices to boot! I got the sirloin plus two sides-broccoli cheddar casserole and slaw. Everything was perfection and tasted great! Best part was that our total bill for two entree, a salad and a beer was $30, thats really reasonable for dinner! They have lunch specials too and I will be sure to stop in for that too. read more

Went in for lunch today. Got seated quickly. Calvin our server came over and got our order. Up to this point everything was good. Got drinks and chips and queso. Then Calvin disappeared. No napkins or silverware. Had to go to the bar and get the napkins and silverware. The waiter came by with drink refills left dirty app plates and empty glasses. Food came out and he finally took app dishes. Then he disappeared again. Horrible service. Now the food is just plain bad. My daughter got grilled fish tacos. Too much pepper in the cabbage slaw. The Mac cheese was mush. The pasta was over cooked. My husband had the Monte Cristo very oily not good at all. He couldn't even eat it. My husband is the type of person that will eat the food even if he doesn't like it because he doesn't like wasting food or money when we go out to eat. I had the philly cheese steak. It had whole mushrooms in it and very little meat. Still waiting on Calvin to come by and check on us. Had to go to the bar again and get mayo for my sandwich. After finding the whole mushrooms I couldn't finish eating my sandwich. Still no waiter had to go to the receptionist desk and ask for my bill. The waiter finally came with the bill and asked me if I wanted a military discount since I was wearing my husband's veteran hat. Now who wouldn't want a discount. I decided I was going to split his tip with the bartender since she was so nice and helped me a couple of times with the napkins silverware and Mayo because he decided to disappear in the back. I did leave him a $5 tip but I also tip the bartender $5 and told her that Calvin was a horrible server. The only reason he did get a tip was because it started out good. This Cheddar's was so disappointing. The one in Colorado Springs is absolutely amazing. My husband wanted to go to Chipotle's but I chose to go here. Our booth kinda smelled mildowy but it could be the carpet. 4pm, no wait on a Sunday. Chicken fried steak had no seasoning at all and the overly oily crust didn't sit well, took a tum or two after. The mashed potatoes did not taste right either. The food was so heavy. My sis ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was 75% oily breading as well. Terrible service! The waiter had no clue about the menu. He headed back to kitchen three times to see what kind of bread they used on a certain sandwich. It took 20 minutes to get our appetizer. My margarita came with a cup of salt on the side. That's a first! Water was spilled all over the table and two phones, we did most of the clean up and had to ASK for a free drink to make up for the snafu! FYI, they can comp food, but not alcohol. They comped our onion rings. The food, was amazing! Literally, saved the lunch! Burger, wrap, salad and pasta! Everyone loved everything! I like the restaurant, but I don't like that since this restaurant is a franchise, I can't sigh up for the e-club. The baja chicken looked good on the menu. But, when I got it, it was like they dumped a can of black beans on the plate with a little bit of rice. Way too much bean juice in the bowl. Pico had no flavor. The grilled chicken was good. I went with three other people and their food was good. The coconut cake was yummy. My server had a tiny voice you can't hear and he didn't even try to talk louder. If you want to eat your appetizer before dinner, do not order your main meal until after you've gotten your appetizer. Host refused to put my name on the lists and said I would have to be there then hung up in my face. When I got to the restaurant she was very unprofessional when I called her out for being rude. I am at a loos for words. I had a reservation set for 7:50 Gary was our server. Now , I get the same thing every time i have been there. It's what I like to get. I have had this before and it has its ups and downs. It happens. Tonight was the worst experience I have ever had. I ordered the Count of Monte Cristo. My parents had shrimp and fish. I tried the fries and they were old stale and hard. That leads me to believe that they were either under the hot lamp for a long time or were just old and bad and someone who doesn't care served them. Next my food didn't come with powdered sugar or the raspberry sauce. I asked for that to be fixed along with the fries. I then Noticed my mother's tar tar sauce was missing. I asked for that to be fixed. Now from here I would have expected Gary to take my plate and fix the simple issue. Reason being is if I was a server I would not want a customer to have to add powered sugar to their foot and get it on there clothes. He did not. He brought out sticky and gooey powdered sugar. I made it work. And was not happy that he didn't come back to see if ever thing was ok. I took two bites of my food it was cold. All in all I can go on about how bad this place was. I think there was only one time I wasn't impressed and that's when I ordered some salad, Had nothing to do with them, rather then I thought it was different. We read reviews, but thought we should try it out ourselves. Have have driven by hundreds of times, and thought it would be way to expensive and could not compare the the 5 guys right next door. With two grandparents in town, we decided t stop driving by and stop and say hi. Entering my breath was taken away. The amazing fish tank, wine rack, and flooring, and the quick speedy service from the Hostess. The Jaw dropping fan in the middle section was really stunning. The tables bit 6 but could hold 8. Our drink order was taken after about 30 seconds after sitting down, and I would say the restaurant was over half full (being it was dinner time). Opening up the menu everyone was like WHAT THESE PRICES ARE REALLY LOW!!!! We ordered and expected to get a small portion, but rather got it was a very gracious portion amount. 3 people got the cat fish - (2 lemon pepper and 1 Blackened - They said "it was realllllllly good", and I am quoting them) B. had the Veggie Plate, and she said it was amazing, especially the Rice and Broccoli casserole. I (P.) had the Smokehouse Burger - $5.49 and added the Fries and Coleslaw for $1.79. I did not eat the fries or the coleslaw, and took it home - the burger had flavor and was juicy and HUGE. I loved it! My only complaint and the reason for the 4 stars over 5 was the TABLE height. Just a tad bit high. I don't know it was weird. Oh yea we had the Onion Rings Appetizer. I got bamboozled. Ordered blackened salmon dinner. Ended up with bourbon salmon lunch. Person at the bar said they don't have blackened salmon it's just in the menu. I've been to this Cheddar's about 20 times and have tried about a dozen different items on the menu and have never disliked any of my meals. Their menu prices are fairly set, and this restaurant won't break the bank. Often times I feel like restaurants are overpriced for the product they turn out, but Cheddar's is a great value for the quality of meals. I think dining atmosphere is nice as well, with a comfortable homie decor. The only knock I can really think about right now is that if I had an option between a table and booth, I would choose a table because their booths are quite uncomfortable. The backs aren't angled at all, going straight up and making is pretty uncomfortable for a longer meal. Other than that I think this place is pretty great. I came here for lunch last Thursday with my girlfriend and our kids, she has a 4 year old and I have a 3 month old. I'm glad we came at 11.30pm because by the time we were leaving there were people waiting for tables! The service and the food were good. I had the Alfredo pasta, she had a wrap and soup lunch special and then mac & cheese for the 4 year old. All food reports from around the table were good. The only awkward part was where we were seated with my stroller. We had no choice but to park it at the end of the booth which left all the staff having to dodge it every time they wanted to pass. I'm not sure if they would have had more room in another area, but in my mind, put us at a bigger table and take a chair away so the stroller can pull up where that seat would be! read more

CROISSANTS! Okay. So I've been trying to avoid too much carbs lately (with this fitness challenge thing going on.. ugh, I know). But when my friends told me that these croissants are absolutely perfect, I just HAD to try. I told myself I would take only one bite.... yeah, that most definitely did not happen. These croissants are.. light, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and so perfectly baked, I wish I had never come here! Now, I will be dreaming/drooling for this croissant for days to come, I'm sure. The pina colada was also excellent. Sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. Large, for sure. And an added bonus of toasted coconuts on the side. Yes :) The con: service was not very good. We were snubbed by our waitress the first 3 times she came by and she gave us such an attitude with the only explanation being "its busy tonight". No sorrys, no accommodations, no nothing. Didn't even get my water refilled the entire time we were there (and we were there quite awhile!). Every time I go to this location I am always pleased with my experience! From the minute you walk in the door I am always greeted by hosts opening the door for me which is so nice being that I'm sure they are very busy with plenty of things to do throughout their shift! I always get seated down very promptly as well, I think the most I have ever waited was about 30 minutes on a Friday night which is not bad at all! Their flavored ice teas are the BEST! Not a lot of people know about them but they are delicious. You can even get a flavored Arnold Palmer as well! I also really love the spinach dip not only because of the flavor but the price is so affordable! I always get either the buffalo chicken wrap or the dijon chicken which you cannot go wrong with either. The pricing again is very affordable and a perfect first date location! You receive a ton of food without hurting the wallet! Kendall is also such a great server, he always has a smile on his face and is so attentive. All around I am so happy to call this place one of my favorite stops when I visit home and highly recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Great server, food was good. Queso dip w/meat was a hit as always. We did order 2 servings of the honey butter croissants they were good but, not warm and soft like I'm used too. I did work there for some time back long long time ago over ten years ago, but I did eat there very frequently at least once a week even after no longer employed. I know what/how it should taste, look etc. The Alfredo was powdery, strangely enough it may have just been the Parmesan not being throughly incorporated. I don't know but it was strange. Chicken had a good flavor even though I didn't have much of it. The kids had burgers which they enjoyed. However, the Mac and cheese they did not touch after the first bite. It was mushy and lacked flavor. My drink (Maui Margarita) was recommended by the server which was beautifully presented and had a good taste. Awful customer service. They dropped dishes and splashed ranch dressing all over a new pair of suede shoes. After weeks of trying to get resolve, the area manager told us"we don't pay for new shoes or clothes- it's our policy " As it is a franchise the Corporate office washed their hands of it. My advice is if you go there wear old clothes or better still- don't go. Never experienced such ambivalence towards a customer. Not only did they spoil a new pair of shoes they couldn't respond to messages or apologize. Needless to say I will not be going there again. Have been coming here pretty regularly for a year now and the food is always fantastic. Service has always been good. Great place to take the family but also a good spot for a date. Good old fashioned home cooking is the best way to describe the food here. Portion size is pretty big so you will get filled up Great drinks too! I highly recommend the Texas Sweet Tea. With the understanding that they are short staffed taken into consideration, there is no exception for poor service. Sat and waited for over an hour for our meal with zero communication as to where our food was. Finally got our food and you could tell that our food had sat in the kitchen for more than 15 minutes waiting to be brought to the table as it was not hot. It was more of just barely warm. The waitress spent more time with and tending to the table next to us, no attention to the empty glasses or the lack of food at our table. We have always had decent experiences here, until last Friday. It was the worst. Fries were cold, stale, and there was one in mine that was so black it must've been in the grease for a week- and yet they served it to me. Burgers are usually good, but mine was cold, undercooked, and terrible. The ribs were a joke. $17 for 6 of the tiniest ribs ever, and they were cold. We ordered their signature drink, a Pain Killer. The rim had toasted coconut which tasted like it had been dunked a week ago and sat uncovered in the fridge absorbing the scents of every food - plus the coconut milk in the drink tasted curdled. It was $7.29 of disgusting. We would have complained but no manager ever came by to ask, nor did the waiter except to bring the check. One more chain restaurant in Denver to avoid. read more

Only two stars for the food, which is decent ... Whoever the bar manager is ought to be shot though. They don't know a God damned thing about beer! You cannot pour anything into a tall glass and call it a pilsner! Also, their selection of Colorado Craft Beer is dismal at best. We arrived and requested a table for 5. We were told the wait was 15-20 minutes which was fine. The restaurant continued to get busier and after about 25 minutes I asked if they had an idea of when we would be seated. The hostess asked for my name, scrolled through her list, and again typed my name in. She said their server crashed about 15 minutes prior and they had no idea who was waiting ahead of that time. With no apology. It appeared the manager also joined the host station to try to fix their electronic nightmare. Parties of similar size who arrived 10, 15, 20 minutes after us were seated ahead of us. We were eventually shown to our table and from then on our evening was lovely. Our waiter was fantastic. He said he was a recent transfer from another location. He came quickly to take our drink order and brought 5 glasses of water including 1 without ice (no one EVER gets that right). He was attentive and kind. The food was good. I have never been a huge fan of their food, but it is a great price and a large selection, so it works well for groups. I had the Grilled Chicken Salad and it was by far the best item I've had. I will certainly order it again. The Homemade Chicken Pot Pie and Grilled Fish Tacos also had rave reviews from our table. Despite the poor welcoming, we will most likely return. Cheddar's should give a huge thank you to our waiter for that decision. He made up for the initial lack of service and saved some customers in the process. read more

She even gave me attitude when I talked to her not only about the wait but also about paying the bill. You couldn't even find her half the time. Green beans were mush.
