Here visiting family. There's a Cheddars that has opened up like 40 min away from me in MD and I've read and seen many of my "southern" (but not really southern) MD friends eat here. So, when suggested to go here in DE, I said why not. The build-out of the restaurant is laid out nicely and roomy, but still seats a lot of patrons. They have this nice fish tank built in the wall that my children liked. It's very pretty. Anyways... Let's get down to business. Date/time: Saturday, 4pm. The wait was approx 10 min and there were others in front of us and after. Service: cool. Laid back. I've always had a pet peeve that others may think is petty, but as my waiter/waitress, I don't think you can sit done at the table to take our order. That's what our waiter did. In my opinion it's rude. I'm having a meal with my family. Though it's a mere 3 minutes, you were not invited. Whoa. That sounds bitchy, but whatever. Secondly, I see it as unprofessional and lazy. Now I know you are a waiter, but there's still a level of professionalism you need to have. And Dude, you're not my friend, so pls do not sit down next to me like we are cool. Other than that, he was alright. He did his job. Food: I got the country fried chicken with fries and coleslaw. Ehh. It was alright. Nothing great. Mg brother got the chicken pot pie, which he said was good. My niece got the grilled like chicken with rice and broccoli - and she said it was good. My kids got the kids meal pasta, which they allowed us to sub the sauce with Alfredo, cheeseburger and chicken fingers. We also got an appetizer, mozzarella cheese balls or something like that. It was good. Had a little kick to it. Portions overall were pretty large. Price: for an appetizer, 3 entrees, and 3 kids meals with drinks, it all came to $53. Sooo inexpensive. So the place is a regular chain with not much to leave an impression. I wouldn't make it a point to come back. read more

Came here with my family on Saturday 11/29/14 for an early dinner. We waited about 10 mins for a table which was excellent. The restaurant itself is very nice with a friendly staff. As soon as we sat down our server was greeting us to take our drink order. That's was a plus!!! The food was very good. We enjoyed everything we ordered. See the photos attached! The prices at this place is unbelievably cheap! For my family of 4 we paid less than $100 bucks. And that was including 2 adult beverages for myself and my husband and an additional take out order! Went in for a late snack. Had nachos (came out wrong), iced tea, and a desert mini. Went to the rest room. The handicapped stall was in use so I had to wait. By the time the guy came out my underwear was wet and I had a skid mark in my drawers. Tbe guy was a KITCHEN EMPLOYEE!!! I told him he didn't belong in the handicapped toilet and he let out a string of Spanish. I asked to speak to the manager on duty (Ebony). She apologized and said she'd have a talk with the guy (Big effing deal). Then she asked if there was anything else she could do. So I said pay my check ($12.87). She took off $4.08. That's what I call taking good care of the customer (bullshit). You'd think that they'd be more concerned about bad reviews but apparently they don't care in the least read more

First time eating here. When ever I drove by it always interested me. We went for dinner last night. A late dinner. We were greeted quickly and seated in our booth. Our server was being shadowed by a new employee whom was very eager to help. The raspberry tea we ordered had something wrong with it. Maybe it was soapy.... Very strange! My salad came out quick and our food followed right behind! Great portion sizes!! In ordered chicken pot pie which was great! It was full of chicken and vegs. I wish they would have been a little more careful with the chicken only because I kept finding very hard (inedible) pieces I the pie. The bf ordered chicken alfredo, it had vegs in it as well. Strange accompanyment...never have I seen something like this. Broccoli and carrots mixed in with pasta and chicken. He pulled the carrots out and happily ate it up. This is an update to a previous 5 star review for this great eatery. Specifically the new buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. The roll is way smaller than the chicken portion: a flatter, softer, larger size bun is needed. There is way too much coating on the chicken and it is tasteless. The whole thing is swimming in mayo which should be served on the side. Also, pick another side as the French fries are limp, chewey and desperately need seasoning. Wanted to love this so much but it is a definite miss! Get the chicken strip dinner, eat half, and use the rest on your own bun at home. So disappointed in my favorite restaurant. read more

Update: food is crazy cheap price wise. It's ok food wise if you understand you get what you pay for. Canned green beans, over cooked and flavorless meat, etc. the fries were really good - everything else is diner quality food - as are the prices. The service was good. Server was very friendly and sweet. However, she did not offer dessert or anything else. She just brought out the check without asking us if we were finished. I would have liked dessert. 3rd time eating here. Still not impressed. Ate here when it first opened and things were slow, but I understood that only being open a week or so. Second time we went here was about 6 or 7 months from the first time. Things were still slow between getting our drink order then food order until the time they were delivered. We tried this place again on June 26th 2016. Service was slow, not sure if our waitress had other duties other waiting. Had to get another waiter to get our drinks. Then the wait to take our food order. As for the food rib and shrimp dinner could have had a couple more shrimp. Ribs were good and fell off the bone but meat was a little dry. The restaurant looks nice and the food is ok better than most of what this sorry excuse for a state has to offer. This was the only place I would eat once or twice a month but never again. A few bites into my rib and sirloin combo I found a disgusting hair. I didn't even want to investigate the color so I could call and get my money back. I wanted to throw up. NEVER eating at this disgusting dirty place again. Better than McDonald's but zero quality to someone with standards! I would rather shop my own food, cook and clean my own kitchen just to know there's no dirt balls hair in my food and no flies. Any time I did order food or eat in the restaurant I would throw out at least half my meal because I would think about the gross aspects of the restaurant and lose my appetite. I understand my standards are high but I care about my health and won't accept poor quality products. On our way home from the beach n we was HUNGRY! Saw Cheddars was less than n hour away n we LOVE LOVE Cheddars! So how can I say no to that! Was told it was gonna b n hour wait. We decided to wait. Was called in after 20 min. That was a plus! Got our table, waited a while til someone came to our table. Knowing how long it took him to come to our table, we decided to put all our orders in cause we hungry n aint got time to dick around. We waited n waited n waited....he brought out our free croissant but no utensils. So we ate it without. Finally my mixed drink came...no straw. Had to ask for it n ask for my husband's drink. Waited n waited...finally his drink came. Later someone brought our food. But not the side salad or utensils. Had to flag the guy down for the utensils n asked for my side salad. Ate our food, n still no salad. He cane around to ask how is everything, I had to remind him about my salad. Terrible service cause he was forgetful even though he wrote our orders down. Stopped in after long trip in car wrapping up a beach vacation in Virginia Beach. We were all getting a bit "Hangry" but refused to stop for fast food. Service from hostesses to waitress was super friendly. We started with chips and queso which were delicious! Kids both ordered pasta one with meat sauce, he gives it 7 out of 5 stars (lol). Daughter LOVED the garlic bread and wouldn't share with me. Hubby and I both ordered Maple Bacon Chicken sandwich. It was juicy and flavorful and the brioche bun was great. Fries were also tasty, especially dipped in the queso. All in with tip at 20% for a family of four with an appetizer was only $45 so very reasonably priced! Last 3x I went food was trash, service is slow, and one time I had hair in my food. Like a big long piece of hair sitting right on top of my cocktail sauce and the waitress had the nerve to try to pass it to me! It didn't even hit the table, I'm like YOU CANT SEE THAT?!! Everything during our visit was superb. The Waitress was very attentive. She checked on us periodically (not to much or to little). Our food was nice and fresh tasted great. I took a while to write this review while wondering if I even should or was it worth it. My family and I drove from NY to DE for some sight seeing and stopped at this restaurant for a bite to eat. I'd eaten at Cheddars before while in Houston and fell in love with them so I figured since the chain holds themselves to high standards, the food and service should be pretty similar. Well, the service was as good as I remembered it; unfortunately that's where it ends. Whomever the cook was that day has a serious heavy hand and aversion to any condiment other than salt. I'm talking I felt my pressure rising with every bite. I thought it was only my food that was salted but my family confirmed the same for their meals although we all ordered different items. Word of advice to the kitchen staff, please try other seasonings. Salt is only meant to enhance the flavor not completely flavor your food. If you have dietary needs that restrict yorlur salt intake, tell them hold the salt. My experience could have been a one off but I'll never know as I won't be returning even when in the state. I'll stick to visiting the chain when in the south. read more

Well priced, decent food, family friendly and great service. Our waiter "Chris" was hands down awesome. The drinks were surprisingly good. I was super happy when I saw how inexpensive the menu was. Obviously this not a 5 star restaurant so don't walk in with super high expectations. It's comparable to Friday's but with a significantly cheaper price. Spinach dip was really good, the whole family loved it. The rest of my time was spent worshiping their godly full rack of ribs and 2 sides for just 15 bucks! I wish I could give it 6 stars. Definitely coming back. read more

This is a place I go to often. The prices are way more than reasonable compared to other restaurants and the service is good. There is a wide variety of things to choose from the menu. From catfish and salmon, to a ribeye and ribs, to their country friend chicken and key west chicken and shrimp. I think their food is really good and everyone should try it at least once. read more

We got the cheeseburger deal last weekend due to the Covid. The meal was so good I needed to have some take out getting tired of home cooked meals. I also ordered my favorite a painkiller. But everything else I have tried in the few times I have visited has been overcooked and dried out. What a find! Great prices, clean place and fast service. But even better is the food. I had the bourbon glazed salmon, best I've ever had! The carrots and green beans were absolutely delicious as well. My wife had the sirloin. Perfectly cooked and the seasoning was spot on. On a rare night off from work i went for a nice leisurely dinner. I ordered the Queso as an Appetizer, a salad and a bone in rib eye. I got my queso and 2 minutes later got my salad and within 3 bites got my steak. 3 courses served in less than 10 minutes. I asked the manager to take my entree back and keep it hot but by then of course I was aggravated. To make it better they took 15 minutes to bring my dessert and another 15 for my check. The hours are listed as 10:30 am but the doors are locked. I called to find out why the doors aren't open and was told they don't open until 11:00 this is the second time I've had a disappointing experience at this cheddars.
