I sure am glad we didn't go by the latest reviews! We got there at about 1:40 Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was full. There was a full lobby of waiting people and we were told our wait would be 20-25 mins. Within 10 minutes we were taken to our table. Our Waitress greeted us promptly to take our drink and appetizer order. Within minutes she brought our drinks and the Yummy Honey Buttered Croissants, which felt like cheating with dessert first, melt in your mouth! Then our appetizer arrived, then our salads, with plates being cleared each time. Then our meals arrived, hot and delicious! We were brought drink refills before we even knew we needed them. Call in 2 pieces of cake. Wait on the parking lot 30 minutes past time for it to be out. Go inside told the cake is being cooked. Wait some more go inside and end up with two pieces of frozen cake. Call up to complain and told the cake is supposed to be frozen. What the crap do they think we're stupid. Terrible customer service and will not go back to cheddars. I've finally given this places enough chances to decide on a rating. I'm giving them 3 stars, but it's a weak 3. When it's good it's very good, but when it's bad it's a disaster and that's why it's barely 3 stars. When it comes to chains, Cheddars is a chain that my husband and I really like! We used to frequent a great one where we used to live and frankly, we've always had 4-5 star experiences with great food at every location we've ever been to. I was genuinely excited when I heard Denton was getting one! New locations usually have some kinks to work out, this one is no exception. I initially thought that my excitement for the new location kept me from giving them enough time. However, over the past 5 months, they still don't seem to have things together. I was not pleased with my first visit, we came around lunch time on a weekend. Service was slow and my steak somehow had three different temps, how does that happen? I was also served rubbery, bland mac & cheese that looked old. However, I can't be too harsh in my criticism, because our server notified a manager who comped my meal. Well, that's a good way to handle it and I can't complain if I didn't have to pay for an awful meal. My Caesar salad was terribly overdressed, but it was accompanied by one of those wonderful honey butter croissants, which was just as awesome as I remembered. I got two more of those to go and was fairly satisfied. We gave them a couple of months to get settled before our next visit, and I have to say that service was very good. We arrived for an early dinner on a weekday and had an attentive server with a great attitude. Overall, the food was better too. I enjoyed my tea and they have good chips and queso. I didn't care for the salsa though, it's very weak and weirdly sweet. We each got a steak this time and the cook was right on both of them. I do have to say that I do not like the seasoning they top the steaks with, it's a really strong pepper/cilantro aftertaste that I do not find appetizing. The ribs had a good flavor but were very tough. The rice is made with onions? That doesn't bother me with the flavor, but I'm not used to coming across crunchy textures in my rice, damn. The fries were fine. They brought us some free cookies fresh out of the oven that were delicious, I got more honey butter croissants. It was a good ending to the meal and the visit was closer to 4 stars. In regards to the steak topping and rice, I can't figure out if the chain changed their recipes or if this location is taking liberties with the execution. The last time I tried their steak was at a location in Houston about 6 months before this location opened up. It had been even longer since I had the rice... so it's possible that these were just changes made across the board. Our most recent visit was Sunday at lunchtime and we were seated quickly. Again, the salads were way overdressed, making it difficult to eat. My husband was okay with the quality of his steak, with the same topping, and fries. Since I had gone with the $6.99 lunch combo, I got a half Monte Cristo, which was dreadful. It came in a doughy beignet, which I wasn't expecting at all. It was undercooked, overly sweet and super chewy, reminding me of a donut. One half had ham and turkey, the other half had ham and one bite of turkey. The outside was hot, the inside was extremely cold. The interaction of all these temps and textures did not taste good and frankly, I was grossed out. Our server was inexperienced, she asked us for our order before asking for our drinks when we had only been handed menus about two minutes before. We gave her our drink order and asked for a minute with the menu. She returned about 90 seconds later with our drinks asking if we were ready to order. I apologized and asked for several more minutes. She somehow took that to mean we didn't want to see her for 15 more minutes. When we got our food I saw an inconsistency in how she checked on her tables, some she ignored and some she checked on constantly. There are a lot of tables in this restaurant, but it's always seemed to have a lot of staff. In fact, it may be a case of too much staff with different levels of training. Unfortunately, that just breeds chaos and you can't get the same service, wait times or food execution from one visit to the next. Maybe it would be a good idea if the huge management staff had regular meetings to make sure they are conveying the same messages and expectations to the staff each day. Just a guess. I'm bummed since this is one of my favorite chains and I would like this location to live up to the expectation. I guess I'll just have to give them more time while I continue to explore all the other food options Denton has to offer. read more

Order pickup today and it was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the crispy chicken pecan salad with a side of broccoli and rice casserole for myself, the featured item which was the roasted herb chicken for my mothe and the chicken tenders for my daughter. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The young man that brought the order to my vehicle was extremely kind and patient. I really appreciate his amazing customer service!! Visited this Cheddar's location A few months back. First impression... I like the layout & decor better than other locations I've been to. Ordered the Key West shrimp and chicken With the Bourbon glaze sauce; fantastic! I don't recall my waiter's name but he did a great job and recommended their broccoli and cheese side dish...their most popular...Its very yummy. I've found that some of the menu items are very mediocre. The Caesar salads were good, the honey butter croissants were good, and the painkiller drink and painkiller cake were both good. However, the two entrees that I have had were not very good at all in my opinion. I do not recommend the bourbon glazed salmon or the parmesan chicken fingers. The chips and queso are very good, especially if you order the queso with beef added to it. The waitresses have been very friendly and efficient. read more

This new Cheddars defiantly has some room to grow. I'm a big fan of the chain in general, and I really wish this one could get it together, since it's just a short ten minutes from me! I've visited twice since they opened up and both visits were very different from each other. The first day I came was opening day. I was prepared for them to not have everything together, but it was actually better that my second visit. The food was good, and service was pretty good. It was slightly awkward, as servers weren't fully versed yet, but everything was just fine. Our second visit, our server was rather professional, but those around her were not. We sat right next to the bar, and could hear the bartender yelling to another server, "hey party at your house later right??!!" Ahh... cringe. We also heard the bartenders loudly calling someone else that workers there a "petty b*tch" I'm no stickler, and defiantly not a prude, but we were there celebrating our anniversary, kinda ruined the romance. I typically order the same thing there every time, the sweet heat chicken and shrimp. The first time I was here, they cooked everything perfectly and got a great sear on the shrimp. The second time around, there was almost no browning on the shrimp, resulting in a sad dish. Something else that was weird about the second visit, was that they gave me a lot of extra rice that what usually comes with the dish. Almost 2x the amount of rice. I'm not complaining, but I think it shows a lack of attention in the kitchen. If you've been to cheddars, you know that you can't leave with out a honey butter croissant! They are flaky and dripping in honey butter!! So good.... our second visit the croissants were a little burnt, with almost no honey butter :/ sad sad day. Our second visit was truly just so bizarre all the way around. I took a visit to the restroom and there was pee on the floor. It has dried and become sticky. More cringe. There was a hostess in the restroom talking on the phone, instead of having someone clean up that issue. I know it's no 5 star dining, but come on. Chili's doesn't even have pee on the ground. Overall, our first visit was great, but the second one was subtly terrifying. The overall value here is very good, and you can actually get away with spending less than 20$ for two people. However our second visit we splurged on cocktails and apps for the occasion, and spent $50+ for that price, with the issue presented, we left feeling strange and sad. Boo-hoo Please Denton Cheddars!! We went here for dessert. We ordered the cookie monster and the chocolate sundae cake. The cookie was burned and dry and not even the size of the pan. The ice cream is the cheapest brand they could buy. The chocolate cake was ok but dry, and again the nasty same ice cream. I recommend dessert elsewhere. Not what I remember from a very long time ago, and not hard to screw up unless you have a poor chef, with poor ingredients which was the case. read more

So tried the new one in Denton and it was fantastic! We had the chicken tortilla soup was homemade like and delicious .. the chicken pot pie was very good flaky crust, the macaroni and cheese would have been great but the pasta was over cooked and mushy I hope they cook al dente next time .. the salad dressing were fantastic! Homemade ranch, strawberry vinaigrette was great! The Tito's watermelon vodkarita was yum! Ribs were great but I personally didn't try the others in my party say so :-) anyway we will be back looking forward to trying more! read more

First the manager Paul phenomenal he was helping staff and talking with guest when we came in and the server was great I didn't catch her name but she was really attentive, the food came out and I had the ribs they were a little in the room temp side and Paul was active enough to be right there when I said that so I asked for a remake and he didn't hesitate to take care of the temperature and the ribs were taken off the bill not much more I can ask for the ribs that were brought next were piping hot and delicious. The atmosphere was good and positive the busser welcomed us in and the host were up front laughing with a smile so I think the managers are doing a great job keeping the people and staff happy! read more

My turtles walk faster than the service in this place. Short story so I was on a business night trip and based on my great experiences with this restaurant in the Houston area I gave this location a try. Server never checked how I was doing just dumped a glass of water and away she went, by the way no straw lol not even bother to ask if I needed one. Croissant was not offered so I requested one because I visit this place often so I knew about the complimentary croissants , the food was acceptable but the fact that it took so much and server never acknowledged me felt like I was a ghost, I'm an experienced business Person and I know when a place will provide excellent customer service and when it won't, in this case this location failed miserably and I'm not able to recommend it, see the timer on my pic, this is as much as they took to serve my food , same time I was alone bored and hungry. I will extend my feedback to trip advisor and hope they get their act together and get better for the sake of this business. The waiter charged a $12 tip for themselves off of my card & I called Cheddars to tell them what had happened & the manager acted like she fixed the issue for me & that I would have my money, but she didn't fix anything so I ended up just calling my bank. Been a few more times back to cheddars and besides a couple weeks where their frozen drink machine was broken, I've been impressed with the food every time. First time I had the monte cristo and it was way too much fried. Not on them but on me i guess lol. I've been having the buffalo wrap recent times I've gone and can never finish it. Take it to go, throw the fries in the air fryer and you can enjoy it twice! Friendly service, sometimes a bit slow when busy ; servers can get spread thin (please put more on shifts!). Quinn is possibly the best server I've ever had. No, definitely. She made sure our food came out as soon as possible despite the restaurant being very busy. My husband ordered a well done steak (which obviously takes a while), and due to the wait she offered us free salads or a desert on the house, which we declined because her and her coworkers created a fantastic experience for us so we were having a great time and didn't need anything else. Several times we looked over and had full drinks on our table without even realizing she had gotten us a refill! And our dirty plates were taken off of our table with a quickness, but we didn't feel rushed at all. The food was amazing, our drinks were great, the manager was very kind. Visited the restaurant for dinner tonight, food was just ok as my steak was way over cooked. Our Server Kendall S. was the most amazing server ever. She offered to fix the error and expressed that she wanted to take care of us. We where ok just eating as served. All the food was great, best side salad in town, The Coconut Shrimp are awesome!!! This was my first time eating at Cheddars and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner. Our server Terra was absolutely the best, so friendly and quick with all my requests. She brought us a croissant that was flakey with a hint of sweetness seriously it was the best I've had ever! I had a side salad with honey mustard dressing, and I was amazed because I've always gone to Texas roadhouse just because I love their honey mustard dressing. This was actually better than Texas Roadhouse. I had the Dijon Chicken with rice and mushrooms and loaded mashed potatoes and again this dish was absolutely delicious. I asked Terra if they sold their honey mustard dressing she informed me they did not because everything is made from scratch so they do not bottle it however she offered to bring me some to take home and it wasn't just a small little container of dressing it was approx 3/4 cup!! My husband had the Chicken Pot Pie and he loved it. When Terra brought us our check she also brought me a to go glass of the soda I was drinking which I really appreciated as it was incredibly hot outside. We moved here to Texas 3 years ago and have been to many restaurants here and I have to say honestly this was in the top 3 for me. I will definitely be returning... and soon !! On my visit to this location, they simply weren't holding up the standard. 10-min wait for a table, no big deals . Went and got a couple cocktails at the bar, and we were seated in 10 mins. It looked really good. Apples on the top, nice sauce, looked great. It wasn't! It was cold, dry and tough. There were apples but no sauce. The sides were cold as well.
