Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen at 3240 N Interstate 35, Denton, TX 76201 Myself and my coworkers decided to have a nice Friday lunch at this location. As usual the butter croissants were the main attraction. They could bring you out a hundred and people just keep eating them. The service was a little slow but she did bring me some more croissants. I really think it was because of the holiday but the food was well put together and they had an affordable lunch deal that everyone liked. So we don't want to disrespect this location but it's definitely worth checking out. They do need to take the fish and chips off the menu . This was not English style fish and chips. Which I thought I was getting lol . This score that I'm giving was a survey of the six people that were at lunch today.

In the area and we were looking for 'home cooked-like' dinner options a saw Cheddars. It has been many many years since we last ate at a Cheddars and for me the Pain Killer immediately came to mind and for hubby it was the Baked Spasagne (which had been taken off the menu way back when). Hubby was hoping it had been brought back; but to his dismay it had not. We arrived pretty late, but were welcomed warmly and our server was attentive and outgoing. My Pain Killer was delicious but I remember it being stronger - the menu still has the 2 drink only disclaimer but I'm not sure why if they have cut back on the alcohol. My meal was very good; I got the Veggie Plate (4 sides of your choice) plus a side salad. Hubby's meal was lacking; he ordered Grilled Shrimp Alfredo plus a side salad. The menu photo showed an almost equal amount of broccoli to shrimp in the pasta but when his arrived to the table there were only 3 florets. The shrimp was not very tasty either - way too salty - maybe they put too much of the grill seasoning???, and the Alfredo sauce really didn't have any flavor. We will probably be back because the service was great, but we'll definitely steer clear of that pasta dish.

This cheddars location is wonderful. We were seated promptly, the restaurant is very clean and our server Alyssa was very friendly and attentive. They play jazzy 90's music which gives the restaurant a light pleasant atmosphere. We started our meal with a Pain Killer and Texas Sweet Tea with queso, chips and salsa. The pain Killer will take your cares away I had the corneal white fish was good but it could use more flavor, the broccoli casserole was delicious. My husband had a double chicken fried chicken which was hot and crispy with flavorful gravy he also had super delicious red beans with rice and broccoli. We will definitely return.

2-24-2024 - One of the staff at the hostess station acknowledged us right away and politely said they'd be with us in a few minutes. Luckily it was a quiet night, not too busy and we were seated in less than 5 minutes. Our table was just outside the bar area. They had several TV's behind the bar with sports playing on some and one had rolling episodes of Bob Ross painting. Naomi was our excellent server. The croissants are irresistible, so warm and flaky with butter drizzled on top. You can also request the croissants without the butter. The cornmeal white fish is light with a great crispy crunch and perfect on the inside. The meal was a huge portion with 5 good size pieces of fish, plus 2 sides. I had the sweet baby carrots which were good and the broccoli rice casserole was creamy and cheesy, with several large pieces of broccoli. Lastly, they serve fountain Diet Dr Pepper.

Wait time on sunday at 2:30 was 15min to be seated. dont think we had to wait that long. Staff was visibly working hard and you could hear host staff working out best seating options for everyone. Waitress was friendly and professional. We could tell she was giving us her best. Food was delicious. My husband loved his chicken fried steak. said it melted in his mouth. Cost for all meals plus drinks with no dessert was $50. affordable for lots of quality food and great service. Ambiance was casual but with a low key romantic feel. family place but nice enough for a date spot. they have a full bar and high top seating also available. bathrooms located near bar. and could use a little upkeep/maintenance. Will return.

After our dinner plans got ruined at a previous place we tried we ended up at Cheddars. It was probably around 8:30pm or so and at that time it wasn't too busy. We were seated in the bar area first. The seat was wet and the table was really dirty. Also the bar is a high traffic area but the floor was just dirty. There was food and trash all over. I went to the front and asked if we could be seated in the dining area. Apparently a couple right before us asked to not be seated in the bar due to how unacceptable they found it. I was tempted to just leave. Usually when this happens I just leave and don't waste my time. But we didn't want to be driving around so we sat at a table near the kitchen. This was definitely better. Table was clean as was the floor. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and my wife got the fried shrimp platter. For an appetizer we got spinach dip. The spinach dip: it was ok. Not bad but definitely not great. And wasn't super hot. It clearly had been waiting to get to our table a bit. The Monte Cristo was pretty good. I have had it at various laces where sometimes the meat is cold in the middle. Thankfully not this one. The jam it comes with is good. Sweet but good. The fries were again....ok. I should have swapped out the fries for something else. The shrimp platter my wife really liked. I tried a shrimp and it was good. It's a thicker breading but it's pretty good. For sides she got coleslaw and broccoli rice casserole. Our server was a nice young lady who was pretty attentive however she did forget for bring me the croissant I asked for. And those croissants are some of the best things on the menu. Overall it was ok. Nothing amazing. The food was good, not great. The service was good, again not great because our server forgot to bring me what I ordered. And if I go back I'll never sit in the bar area. I used to eat at the Cheddars in Arlington off Little years ago and it was always good. The food has obviously changed and the quality while not bad isn't memorable. I'll probably go back but it's not on the top of my list.

The service was so bad. We had to remind the waitress to bring our beverages and the croissants. Then we got cold food. Never going back.

We ordered the lobster chowder and the crab leg pot, and both were absolutely delicious. Even though the place was busy, our food came out pretty quickly, which was impressive. At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I had the chicken with greens and shrimp fried rice, along with the fried green tomatoes and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I honestly don't have a single negative thing to say about either the food or the service. This was an amazing dining experience, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

We saw the menu and were kind of like ok what kind of a chicken place is this. It was her choice so we went. Our waiter(forgot his name) was cool and was very attentive to us. First sign of a good waiter/server is our cups were never empty. Its been a while that my cup has never been empty. For the food it rocked. Your biscuits are addictive. I dont know what you put in them but we ate alot of them. The dressing on the salad was not over powering. Now for the chicken. We had tenders, fired, smoked and even some chicken fried steak. It was all juicy and tender. What had us surprised was there was no oil on the plate when it was served. The breading on all the chicken stayed crunchy. What ever you do to the chicken keep doing it. The corn, green beans and the mashed potatoes were on point. They are their own food group. Im not a green bean person. I had 2 servings. The gravy just made everything taste better. The deserts tasted like they came from grandmas kitchen. Whats the chances you would open a location in Las Vegas Nevada. Its going to get expensive to drive here every time we what fried chicken. THIS IS A HUGE RAVE TO BABE'S CHICKEN HOUSE IN GRANBURY!…read more On Sunday, March 29, my wife and I went to Babe's Chicken House in Granbury. We were met immediately and seated promptly. Our server was a young lady named Lauren. More on Lauren shortly. This was not our first trip to Babe's Chicken House. But it had been a while, definitely too long, since we were here when we came years ago, we would usually order a chicken each. Now we are in our golden years and we can't eat that much, so we split one. But it was just as delicious as it has been each previous time! The Chicken was fried too absolutely perfection! The golden brown skin was seasoned perfectly and was very crunchy, just the way we like it. And the meat was hot and fork tender, Oh, I still prefer to use My fingers. The sides of green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes and gravy were off the hook! I'm not sure how they cook that corn, but they can come over to my house and cook it anytime! We both drank a sweet tea with lemon, very, very cold and lots of ice! About Lauren: Lauren is a local young lady who has a constant smile on her face. I never saw her not smiling while we were here. I watched her as she engaged in conversation with many people, both employees and customers, and she was an extremely pleasant young woman. But to my wife and I, she was an absolute, unfettered joy! She kept our tea glasses filled, and Make sure that we had plenty of potatoes and gravy, corn, and green beans. She did all of this as well as tending to her other customers I think that she is one of those young ladies who is so personable that she has the gift of making everyone feel as though they are the most important customer to her. I know that is the way that we felt. My wife had ordered some vegetables to go, And had mentioned this to Lauren when we ordered our chicken. We were nearly finished with a meal when Lauren arrived at the perfect time with the "to go order." She remembered when many such servers in the past at other venues Have forgotten. I need to address one other thing that I frequently hear people complain about. Yes, babes does serve instant potatoes. When you feed as many people in a day and in a week or over a holiday weekend, as they do, something has got to give. And by the way, those instant potatoes are absolutely delicious! I don't know what they do to them, but they are incredible! So if that's your own gripe, find something else to gripe about and instead insert some positivity into your review! This was the most pleasant dining experience that I've had in years and it was because the food was good and Lauren's service to my wife and I was even better! The only suggestion would be that Lauren gets paid more! She's clearly not being paid enough! As for Babe's Chicken dinner house, we will be back! Thank you all so much! And you take good care of our Lauren, because we want her the next time we come! All of y'all who read this review and then go to babes, be sure that you ASK FOR LAUREN! SHE'S A ROCKSTAR!
