They said we would have the whole section in the back but then proceeded to sit other people in our section. Our group was split up! Then the management said we would have more servers to help but we were.left with only one server and it took 25 minutes Just for people to have drink orders taken. Management is awful! Once they picked up was put on hold for 10 before hanging up and trying again, was immediately asked to go on hold again and asked them not to, she said she would not be long this time , she put us on hold. They only had about 5 table tops when first arriving, they put me and my guest at a dirty table even though they had probably 35 tables with no one there that were clean. They do have good professional service though. Ordered spinach dip, a little runny but not too bad. Alcohol drinks are very weak, but what do you expect with a corporate chain. Entrée was excellent though. For pork ribs, they do an amazing job with them... The server suggested the grilled shrimp, and she was dead on about it, seasoning was dead on... My children and I decided to try out Cheddars on McPherson tonight. I enjoy taking my kids out twice a month for a good meal that I don't have to cook. We walked in and were greeted by friendly hostesses. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is nicely decorated, perfect for a date night, too. Richelle was our waitress. She was very prompt, attentive and knew the menu very well and wasn't afraid to give her suggestions. I was impressed with her service as usually my small family is low on the priority list as I'm sure I'm classified as not a high tipping table. I order the New Orleans pasta as my entree, sweet tea and chips and queso as an appetizer. My children ordered off the children's menu. The children's food looked good, large portions and much better choices than some other restaurants. My sweet tea didn't taste very sweet, but I didn't mention it. Now I'm going to rave and highly recommend the New Orleans pasta, it was freakin' DELICIOUS!!!!! Made me forget and not care that the appetizer never came, lol!! Richelle handled the situation well and apologized over and over again. No big deal because I didn't have to wait long for the meal and it was so good. As a woman who loves to cook, I am often disappointment that my meal didn't wow me when I eat out, but this particular dish did! If you like spicy, authentic tasting New Orleans food, try this. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place while we were already in Fayetteville; just something new. We walk in, The hostess rolls her eyes, says "Two" with an attitude. When she finally seats us, she slams the menus down on the table, and mumbles something under her breath. I just brushed it off, about 5 minutes we FINALLY get a waitress, she asks us for our drink order.. then took 20 minutes to get our drinks and to order an app. Someone else brought us our app, then about 30 minutes after we're done with our appetizer she asked us if we were ready to order. By this point we've drunk all of our drink, she says she'll be "right back" with more. Well apparently "right back" means 15 MORE minutes.. right after we get our food. My food was phenomenal! My boyfriend complained not much flavor to is steak, not to terrible. It took 15 minutes to get the check we asked for (before we were done eating because we notice a record slowness) then 15 more minutes to get a carry out box. My conclusion; I would go back for the food ONLY if I had two hours to waste. Great food, great price, shitty service. read more

Worst service ever! Mixed up meals, untimely/lack of beverage refills, asked for a manager 2 times, waited over 15 min. each to get check and cash out. While the food was very good the service was horrible. First took them 20 minutes to bring my GrandDaughter a cup of milk. We ordered 2 cups of soup for before the meal...we did not receive them. When asking the server about she stated that the kitchen was ignoring her and wouldn't give her our soups. I asked to speak to a manager...20 minutes later server informed us that the manager "REFUSED" to come to out table over 2 cups of soup. I had a very bad first experience at this restaurant. They were out of Alfredo sauce, out of baked potatoes and out of Strawberries!!! What kind of operation is this? The host took forever to seat us, and when we were seated, the floor was FILTHY (trash, food everywhere). No clean-up crew was even attempting to clean the mess. The food was luke warm and the chicken was dry as wood. I'm not sure if this is standard practice at Cheddars' establishments, but it is horrible. I have been to cheddars four times now and every time, I say I won't go back. I have been asked about my experience and food quality. My response is invariably service issues. I will say that the food quality and value is good but if you can't get the food to the table in a timely fashion it's no good. Then if you need anything such as extra sauces,butter,drink refills, you don't get it until the food is cold or you have completed your meal. So I went to this craptastic place with my family and wouldn't you know it, there was a giant American coach roach crawling on the wall. The server just played it off and took the order of the people that were sitting in the booth with the roach crawling on the window. The lady behind us and the myself called to her to show her the roach and she just ignored us. The people seated along the window just looked at it like oh well. My family and I visited this restaurant today and we were very disappointed. First, our appetizer did not arrive until the rest of our meals arrived. After waiting on the food, it was cold. Some of my other family members did not get all of their meals at the same time and by the time they recieved it, they were done eating. My sister ordered pasta with no vegetables. They took some of the vegetables out but left huge chunks of broccoli in her dish. It was cold as well. I have been to this restaurant before and they have amazing chicken tenders, steak, and honey mustard. I could only enjoy my lemonade tonight. I must say, the waiter was very understanding as well as the manager. I was glad they compensated us. I've been here multiple times and I've NEVER had good service . We sat here with our salads and no silverware for 10 minutes . Then once the food came everything was completely wrong . We made our first visit to Cheddar's on Jan. 21, 2012. I have to say the restaurant has a good menu, and food was good, very reasonable but the service needs improvement. We arrived at 4:30pm and the wait was 45 mins. for a table. Although, they were busy we could see a bunch of empty tables throughout the restaurant. Just like Robi G. we went to the bar for a drink while we waited. It was a good 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and asked if we were ordering drinks. It seemed like forever before another bartender finally brought our drinks. There were at least 4 bartenders behind the bar but their main interest seemed to be talking to each other rather than waiting on their customers. The only complaint I had after being seated was being out of key menu items. I would certainly think a restaurant would prepare enough Ribs and Baked Potatoes for Saturday night when most people go out to eat. Very frustrating to have to chose another menu item when you had you mind set on Ribs and a Baked Potato! When the check came we were charged again for the Tea after telling the waiteress we had paid for it at the bar. She quickly removed it from our check though. read more

As of 1/28/12 a group of friends and I decided to eat at Cheddars. From the time we walked in until the time we left out, it was HORRIBLE! The hostess was very rude. I had to catch an attitude with not only her, but one of the ladies who served out the food. I'm talking dirty dishes, dirty straws (COME ON NOW!! DIRTY STRAWS!!), things floating in shots. Our experience at Cheddar's tonight was the worst we've had in years. The wait was over 40 minutes. People who had come in after us were being seated before us. Understanding that they are new we just decided to wait, until a family with over 8 people came in and they were going to be seated right away. At that time the manager and hostesses were rude. The hostess knew she made a mistake. The manager was like whatever! On one of our meals the meat was under cooked and they completely forgot the gravy. The other the baked potato was hard and cold. When we asked for the gravy and a new baked potato it took 10 minutes before we saw our waitress again. The only thing edible was the appetizer. Will never go back. There is only one thing to say about my visit, it was great! I enjoyed the service, food and quantity. With gas prices being so high you really worry about dining out, but the prices weren't that bad. You could eat, relax an enjoy yourself, and not worry about the check. My family and some friends went here tonight to celebrate my mother's birthday. The food was fantastic. Each of us in our 6 person party ordered something different, and we all more than enjoyed our meals. The reason I'm giving 3 stars and not the 5 stars the kitchen deserves is what happened after our meal. I had called ahead and asked if I could sneak a birthday cake into the restaurant to surprise my mother. I was told ahead of time the staff would gladly receive the cake, and bring it out with a group of servers to sing happy birthday. So, about 10 minutes into our meal, I excused myself, got the cake, brought it to the hostess and said this is a birthday cake for my mother at our table and pointed it out. She was nice and said she'd bring it to the kitchen and our server would take care of the rest. At the end of our meal, our waitress cleared our table and asked if we wanted any dessert. I told her we had brought a dessert for the table. It ruined the surprise which was no big loss. I just figured she was never told about it. After some time had passed, our server came back with a box apologizing for the delay as she said the cake had been lost. Then set the cake, still in the box, on our table and left. Still in the box. We had to wipe clean a steak knife to cut it. Then we realized we didn't have any utensils to eat it with. Our waitress went MIA for 15 minutes. My husband got up and walked to a waitress in another section to ask if she could bring us forks. We were too embarrassed to sing happy birthday in the middle of a busy Saturday service. The service at this restaurant was terrible. Several of the people in our party received the wrong food or portions of their meal were missing. We informed several employees but the missing food never came. I never received my salad, my daughter was given the wrong side and the correct side was never brought out even though we were assured it would be. My brother did not receive the bread that was supposed to accompany his meal. My 5 year old cousin, my sister and her husband received their food an hour and a half after it was ordered. When my sister's husband received his chicken salad the bowl was dirty and the food had to be returned which delayed his meal once again. After my 5 year old cousin received his food an hour and a half after ordering, it was wrong. The manager had to be called and it took him 20 minutes to come out. We actually had two waitresses. The head waitress was supposed to be training the second waitress. After the head waitress took our order she never came back. The waitress in training actually did all the work. It's a shame she has to share her tip with the useless head waitress. I believe a lot of blame goes to the kitchen. It is not normal to make that many mistakes preparing food at a restaurant. This Fayetteville Cheddars better shape up and take a hard look at their employees before they find themselves going out of business very quickly. This is one of the newer restaurants in Fayetteville, so we expected it to be a little difficult to get into, but when we arrived at 5:30 and were told it would be an hour and 15 minutes, we were a bit shocked. (Especially when there were multiple tables open at all times.) We expected to see some fantastic food for that type of wait -- not so much. We ordered the Sheperd's Pie and the Smokehouse Burger. My husband said the burger was good, nothing special and I thought the Sheperd's Pie was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. Also noticed that one of the wait staff at the entrance had a major attitude (especially to people on the phone). One bright note was our waitress - Chantina. She was AWESOME and we thought they should make her the manager because she knows how to get things done!! We MIGHT try it again, but probably only for drinks/appetizers and only then when the crowds slow down there. read more

Very excited to go for the first time, left disappointed. Went when they first opened and over an hour wait....too hungry to wait. So, today went about 2:45ish...thinking great time between lunch and dinner crowd. Started great, seated within 10 minutes. That's where the good experience ended. Took so long for server to come that we knew our drink and food order (and they have a big menu, so with being my first time, took some time to go over). Anyway placed drink (soda and tea) order with our food order. Me fish tacos and coleslaw, daughter vegetable plate, salad, brocc. casserole, carrots, corn and baked potatoe....nothing complicated. Well, as I am on my first refill of a drink and no food (not even salad)....starting to wonder whats going on because a ton of servers are roaming around. We were seated in the center with the big fan on the aisle next to row of booths. A toddler spilled a drink in the booth and many, many servers went around mom as she was cleaning up, finally a server stopped to help. I was listening to servers around me being pleasant with their tables and explaining there was a hold up on food due to a large party. Our server after 40 minutes mentioned it to us. Everyone was given silverware wrapped in a napkin....not us. My daughter had her fork from the salad she got at about 45 minutes into the wait. We then get our food....server drops it and moves on. I have to wait to see her and she asks "do you need something?" I replied, "ah, a fork." She comes back and hands me a fork and turns and leaves, before I can ask for napkins. I sit miffed and another server stops and asks can she help me. I ask for napkins. She comes back after a few minutes with napkins. The only good thing is the fish tacos were good...but I think I was so pissed at that point I didn't enjoy them as I should have. Don't know how anyone could have messed up the vegetable plate. It was all I could do to leave a tip. Our waitress clearly acted like she was doing us a favor....anyway, will go again just to see if things get better, but hate first time was a huge disappointment. read more

My wife and I have been to Cheddar's twice. Once for lunch and last night for dinner. On both occasions the food was very good but the service was another story. On the first visit I ordered a Cheeseburger with just onions, my wife the chicken tender app. and potatoe skins as an appetizer. Everything was brought out at the same time and the cheeseburger had everything on it. Not good. Last night for dinner we thought we'd give Cheddars another try. We ordered the onion ring appetizer, my wife had the chicken tender app. and I had the cheeseburger and a side of fries. The appetizer came out first and was fine. My wife's dinner was also fine. My cheeseburger came out without the fries and looked very lonely on the plate. The server brought out the fries ten minutes later. The only thing that came out on time was the check. We went in with high hopes and the service was great at first, I had been sent a coupon from their location on my email for free chips and queso I asked if I could use it off my email the lady asked her manager she said yes just sent it to this email which I did right in front of the waitress. They brought out the chips and queso which they split on the way out. Salsa was good queso was awful, we figure oh well at least it was free, we ordered out food they brought it out my husbands burger had burnt onion straws on it and he just threw it away after three bites, I ordered the pot roast that tasted like the lid fell off the salt while cooking it and it all fell in there return it after one bite, my son got corn dogs that were three weird looking things that he refused to eat. After returning my food right after we got it I just asked for the check which she came back to tell me that I now didn't get the free chips and queso, which is poor service you can't all of a sudden say I can't get it free!!! Paid for it all and left within 5 mins of getting our food and headed straight to sweet frog because we knew at least it wouldn't disappoint! Stay far away this place looks nice, but is awful! Nightmare of an experience about a month ago. After Sunday service, about 13 of us went to eat there. Four left because they were out of catfish. An hour latet, one left because we had not been waited on. Another 15 minutes and the remaining ask for a manager who tried to fix problem by sending message. We waited another 15 minutes or longer for him to come out and blow us off by saying just give them some drinks and chips. Was supposed to get croissants but sent out 6 for 8 people. Ordered drinks and it even took awhile. Another 15 minutes -and I said let's go because it doesn't make since to wait here this long and pay our money. As we got to greeter our chips was just coming out. The greeter asked if we enjoyed our food and I replied we had not been served yet. She was shocked and said what happened because she remembers we've been seated a while. She tells us to.talk to manager but at this point we were fed up. I started to feel weak so I sat down at door because my blood sugar levels dropped. Manager finally came out and ask what could he do. I said bring me some orange juice. He came back with a leaky cup that spilled on my dress. Got up to go find another place to eat. By the way, in last booth from us there were employees who received their food even though we were there before them and they didn't even acknowledge the problem we were having. Wow! don't beleve the stars. look at the filtered reviews. this site only shows positive reviews. Very mis leading. Went there for dinner last night it was our second time. This visit was worse than the first. The first was the night they opened so you expect a few mix ups and problems. However, last night was a fiasco. Business was steady but not over whelming. Every waiter we talked to was new and didn't have a clue. It was our waiter's first night and he didn't have a clue, help or supervision. He tried his best and was very polite but.... The staff dropped a lot of dishes. The food was even worse. The Cajun pasta was not appealing, it looked gray and over cooked and there were no shrimp to be seen. It was promptly sent back. The entre came before the salad. They couldn't keep the water glass filled. The bourbon tasted watered down. The manager talked to use and came across as patronizing. He did give use a coupon for a free entre. However, I'll not return to use it. This is the worst meal experience I've had in this town. I will say the crescent rolls were very good.
