Local diner that just has great food & homely vibes. Went on a Saturday for breakfast and it was packed. We had to wait about 30 minutes, so we knew this place had to be popular for a good reason. Menu was diverse, mostly breakfast options, but got some brunch/lunch options as well. I got the traditional eggs, potatoes, bacon, and waffle combo. I thought the waffle was soft and had great flavor to it. Wasn't like those you taste at Waffle House or IHOP. The seasoning on the other entrees weren't bad, not overly salted, and it just felt like homely cooked breakfast food. I can see why a lot of people are fond of this place & why it's always so packed! I'm big on consistency. Especially when it comes to restaurants. What I look for is cleanliness, wait times, order accuracy, and staff knowledge of the menu. And Metro Diner checks all the boxes. Last night I was looking at the general area because I knew I wanted to go somewhere for breakfast. Metro diner popped up as one of the options. I had been here once before, and apparently it had been a six months (according to my last review) since I was here. When I arrived I was pleasantly greeted at the door. I was quickly seated. Kristy promptly came over and took my order. I got the strawberry shortcake griddle special. Let me say I thought the lemon blueberry griddle was good. This one was just as good if not better. I'm a huge lemon blueberry fan so this one had high expectations. Like before the restaurant was clean. Staff were attentive and constantly checking on all of the tables. Before placing my order, I had asked about the strawberry shortcake griddle, and the sweetness. I like sweets, but not necessarily for breakfast. Kristy offered her opinion and suggestions/recommendations, stating this was one of her favorites. I'm not sure why it took six months to come back, but I will definitely be back. such an inviting and cozy diner. staff was super friendly and we were seated fairly quickly despite it being busy. coffee was great and we tried the blueberry muffin flavored coffee which was okay. i got the steak and egg bowl which was overall great! the steak was tender but it had a slightly sweet taste to it which was just okay for me. the eggs, hollandaise, and hash browns were great! i recommend this bowl. the cinnamon pancakes were the highlight of the meal. it wasn't too sweet so you could just keep eating more and more. it tasted like cinnamon toast crunch. i would come again to try other items in their menu. i recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot/diner! read more

Our food was great except the home fries as they were very salty. Everything else was great, we will return in the future but won't order the home fries. My server was Beverly. She was very nice and attentive. She even helped with some food decisions to make sure I had a good meal. I decided on the chicken and waffles stuffed dish. It was DELICIOUS! my homegirl had the cinnamon French toast with eggs and bacon. The French toast was amazing. Very flavorful. I would advise a more thicker brioche type of bread for it but other than that great food. I also tried the bourbon pecan coffee and ended up having 3 cups. Yum! we went on a Sunday night and were seated right away. My husband ordered the steak breakfast type bowl and home fries and I ordered the teriyaki salmon rice bowl. Although I missed out on giving preferences on the cook of my salmon, it was made tender and a little crisp on the bottom which was good. The rice lacked flavor and the purple cabbage had stained the rice, so maybe not the freshest. The home fries are more like square cut hash browns than typical wedge style potatoes but still tasty. It's a good casual place, large menu and enough for a lot of people to find a choice. They usually have really good seasonal bread pudding. OK, the food was good this time. It was better than last time because it wasn't a holiday weekend. I just decided to go on a holiday weekend last time and guess what I was disappointed. Anyway as I said in the last review, the waitress told us to come back on a non-holiday weekend and it proved to be way better experience I had the croissant pancakes. The wife had the biscuits with sausage and gravy with a side of potatoes, and the kid had the poutine all were flavorful all were great portion sizes. FYI if you're complaining about portion sizes in the south maybe you should cook at home especially If You are going to complain that they're too big. . Aaaaand ... who in their right mind doesn't like leftovers the location of the parking lot was small but there was plenty of parking in the surrounding parking lots. If I had one complaint, it would be to the manager and that would be to read the chalkboard of specials and do a spellcheck , the spelling of a few of the words had me irritated, but I'm a teacher so there you go. Anyway, i like the booths and the size of the location, I also liked the signs around the building takes me back to a real metro diner, sitting near the subway back in my hometown. i really wanted to like this place because the food itself had some positives and the staff gave off friendly, welcoming vibes. you can tell there's an attempt at that "southern hospitality" feel, which i appreciated. i've actually been to three different metro diner locations, and this one was by far my least favorite. unfortunately, the experience overall didn't match what i've had at other locations. service was noticeably slow, even though the restaurant didn't seem very busy. we had to ask for refills, and it took a long time to get rung out. it also felt like the staff was more focused on to-go orders than the dine-in guests. there were also issues with the food service itself--our plates were mixed up, so we had to rearrange items like eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon at the table. my waffle came out cold. my eggs initially came out tasting like pure grease--i couldn't taste any egg or cheese at all, and i actually had to spit it out because it made me gag. however, after that, the manager stepped in and had them remade. she was very apologetic and attentive, and made sure my eggs were cooked perfectly the second time, which i really appreciated. overall, the food ended up being decent and i didn't have any complaints with the taste after that. the biggest downside, though, was the bathroom. it was really hard to ignore. there was a strong urine smell, visible stains on the walls, water all over the sink, and what looked like urine on the floor. the condition of the bathroom alone made the experience really uncomfortable. overall, there were a few positives with the atmosphere and the manager's attentiveness, but between the slow service, food inconsistencies, and cleanliness issues--especially the bathroom--this was a disappointing visit compared to other metro diner locations. read more

We have recently moved to North Carolina from LA and have definitely not had a great breakfast until we got here. Metro diner is definitely at another level, (per NC standards). The service was great and friendly and the food is good - (better than anything I've had in Fayetteville). Of course the food looked so good that I forgot to take pictures- but I highly recommend this place. This for sure will be my go to breakfast spot. read more

When my friend tried to get dinner at Metro Grill the other night, the employees got the order wrong three different times, and my friend, who was picking it up, ended up going somewhere else because they couldn't seem to understand what she was telling them. Mom and Dad were supposed to get in the Metro Club, and I wanted the steak tips, but the service there was very poor, according to my friend. I doubt that my family will ever go to Metro Grill again when they can't even get the order right after being told three different times what it was. Service here was horrible this morning. I had to wait 15 minutes after finishing, but I still didn't have my check. Coffee was lukewarm, and food was about 5/10. Decided to check out Metro Diner after driving by many times. Checked out their menu ahead of time and decided to get their chicken pot pie as it was cold outside and I knew it would warm me up. Well, unfortunately that was not the case. The pot pie was cold and a little tasteless honestly. So, I was sitting in the parking lot so I decided to go back in and ask for something else. The staff were more than happy to help me. A lady swooped in from nowhere listened to my concerns with a smile--I could tell behind the mask there was a smile. I got a grilled cheese on rye bread with fries instead. Oh wow! So good! The cheese was a mix of deliciousness paired with the fresh rye bread was ooey gooey and so good! The fries were crispy with a hint of seasoning salt. I wanted to keep eating these along with the sandwich. I think that their sandwiches are their stars and I definitely will be back for more of them. Also, will be back for their homemade sangria! read more

Came to Metro Diner based off the reviews on Yelp. We were immediately seated and the host Joseph..was very vibrant, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere was homey and the music completed the vibe. I tried the croissant French toast bc I have never heard of that before and it was amazing! They also off half sizes ! Which helps me a lot bc I eat like a child..oh and I added the cinnamon pecan topping ! No syrup needed! While my server was not knowledgeable of my particular request for how to make my eggs, she asked questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. THANKS BEVERLY! She was so attentive ! Metro Diner originates from Jacksonville Florida, and having just moved to Fayetteville from Jax; I was happy to see a little taste of home. We ate breakfast on the patio, we had my tiny sidekick with us. He got a bowl of water when we got our drinks. I ordered a bissle breakfast, eggs scrambled with sausage pattie for my meat and a biscuit as my bread. I also got a side of gravy for that biscuit because we are in the south. The meal comes with a short stack of pancakes as well. Husband ordered a steak and egg bowl with no tomatoes and no hollandaise. Food came out fast, fresh and flavorful!
