I decided to give this restaurant a try since I haven't been since I was a kid. I have to say the food was great and so was the service. The Spaghetti was a little on the spicy side so be aware of that before ordering but was still good. The ambience was very warm and welcoming with a nice farmhouse touch.

Busy on a weekday (holiday week) morning and only two waitresses working plus a woman who might have been the manager/owner. I'd expect the food to take a bit when it's like this and it did. Service was slow as well, because these gals were trying hard but not able to keep up with the turnover in tables. As well, the kitchen had issues coordinating breakfasts with toast. In some operations, this is the waitstaff who do toasting so maybe they dropped it. When you're halfway through your omelet before the toast arrives, and you've just seen the table next to you have the same problem, that's an issue. The omelet was great, the home fries were a little too buttered for me, and the toast (once it arrived) was good. Can't beat the price. (And to the mom across from me who insisted on clinking her spoon when stirring her coffee? Learn some damned manners.)

This is a great family owned Greek restaurant. They have been serving great good with excellent service for many years. I've not been here for years but met up with some family and friends and six of us had lunch on a Saturday afternoon. They have a great menu with plenty of Greek & Italian selections. They also have specials every day of the week. The grilled pork chops and grilled chicken tenders are great specials and you get two sides, plus bread and soup! Meredith will provide you excellent service with a smile!

Vegetable soup and cornbread... Included in dinner special. Whole meal for $7.99!!

At later dinner on a Friday night... the place was very dirty (floors), but I figured they must have had a heck of an earlier service, so I was encouraged that they have a good following. I ordered fried flounder and french fries, with a side of slaw. The fish was fishy and the batter was so hard, I could't cut it with my fork!!! The fries were fishy, too! EW! Hubby got chicken and dumplings. It was salty and slimy with very little chicken (both in quantity and size of chunks, they weren't chunks, really). Son got a giant burger, and it satisfied him. I tried a bite, it seemed like a GFS frozen patty, to accompany his GFS french fries. Overall impression, this is a re-heat and serve place, which is how they can offer the cheap pricing that they do... not that they buy wholesome fresh base items, that aren't expensive to begin with, and cook those. If this is fresh cooking, then this is an alternate universe, where everything is backwards.

I'm disappointed. There was more Italian food than Greek food. I ordered the Greek gyro, and the tzatsiki was great, the meat was absolutely gross. Drenched in grease and salt-- it resembled more of sausage than kebab meat. They didn't even have spanakopita, which is as traditional as you can get! The feta cheese on the Greek salad was from Walmart-- the crumbled type. I don't recommend this place if you're looking for Greek food. Not at all.

    Girls loved it!

So we checked locally and discovered a new (to us) Greek restaurant. My wife and I arrived about 7:00 PM on Thursday, after having made an online reservation. When we arrived, plenty of open booths , so we were seated and brought menus. Any new Greek place we must try their Spanakopita so we ordered one to split. We also decided to split a Greek Salad and a Moussaka. Our Spanakopita came quickly. We divided it and tested. Hmm. Not bad, but not what we're used to having. We actually prefer more filo than here. Her salad came and we divided part of it also. It was crisp, cold and yummy. After a bit my Moussaka arrived. To our surprise it came in a custard bowl and looked like a Shepherd's Pie. Unusual since we've always been served Moussaka in squares like a Lasagna. It was fantastic, a perfect blend of meat and vegetables. Of course next we needed dessert. My wife couldn't decide on the Baklava Cheesecake or the Caramel Cheesecake, so she got both! I liked the Caramel but so sweet I had to drink water with it. Good food, nice ambiance. Service a bit slow and told us they did have a military discount, but somehow forgot to use it. There appeared to be huge dividing panel that maybe closed off larger room for special events.

My Husband got his lamb chops medium well and they were perfect too. I savored every bite of it! The steamed broccoli was also seasoned very well and they were not too soft and not too hard either. The Baklava sundae was also a very good amount. Me and someone else shared the dessert and it was fulfilling. (Not pictured) The coffee, cheesecake, hummus dip and more entrees ordered. - The coffee was very strong and bitter. - The cheesecake was really good and all the different types & flavors of the drizzle was good too. - The hummus and pita bread was very good as well! Great taste to the hummus! The ambiance was calm, modern, yet elegant and classy! The service was also top notch. I do like that you have to reserve, because that makes the experience more personal and I loved that part about it! We went to the restaurant after our church service on Sunday around 2PM and when we were leaving, there was just one other party there, that had a reservation but it was so quiet, you would not have been able to tell. If you like something quiet and intimate, this is the place! The restrooms were very clean and beautiful as well. It did not smell very well so possibly some air fresheners would be helpful, but overall, the good outweighed the bad. Everything will never be perfect but this place was a definite 5/5 rating!

On my recent visit I was seeking something local and wondered if there just be a Greek option…read morearound. Well I was pleased to find just the ticket in the heart of Gastonia, in a strip mall, it was  Akropolis Cafe. A charming family-owned eatery that's been delighting locals with authentic Greek cuisine since its establishment in 2014. Located at 3070 E Franklin Blvd, the cafe offers a cozy atmosphere where you can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The history of Akropolis Cafe is rooted in the love for traditional Greek cooking and the desire to share it with the community. The founders, a family of Greek immigrants, brought their treasured family recipes to life in the heart of Gastonia, creating a culinary destination that celebrates the rich flavors and aromas of their homeland. I do love good Greek food, and fresh,  authentic, and local sealed the deal. We'd been vacationing and traveling for over a week so we decided to get some takeout and eat in.  Akropolis Cafe's menu features an array of delectable options, including classic Greek appetizers like hummus, tzatziki, and dolmades. You can also indulge in hearty entrees such as gyros, moussaka, and pastitsio, or opt for lighter fare like the fresh Greek salad or the vegetarian-friendly spinach pie. To satisfy those with a sweet tooth, the cafe offers traditional Greek desserts like baklava and loukoumades.  I was surprised with some of the non-Greek choices like mozzarella sticks, burgers, BLT, Pork Chop platter, fish platter, (tilapia, no thanks) chicken salad but the Pita Pizza looks good.  We settled on Greek Salad, Spinakopita, Tenderloin Shishkabob, Tyropita, pita bread, hummus, tzatziki, Greek rice baklava and fries. I've been eating and cooking Greek food for decades and have had my share of the real deal and these folks at Akropolis Cafe do a very good job and I would definitely eat here again.  Note: I noticed in my search to find this place I saw lots of very positive reviews and saw quite a few complaints that didn't reflect on their food but repeatedly mentioned DoorDash deliveries that were disappointing. FYI Bottom line: Akropolis Cafe is a real gem in the Gastonia dining scene, offering a delightful combination of authentic Greek cuisine, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. Great Greek food, friendly people and reasonable prices, try them today! Highly recommended!!  Hours:  * Tuesday to Thursday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 5 - 9 PM * Friday: 11 AM - 3 PM, 5 - 10 PM * Saturday: 11 AM - 9 PM * Sunday: 12 - 3 PM, 5 - 8 PM * Monday: Closed To explore the full menu, make reservations, or learn more about Akropolis Cafe, visit their website at:  https://akropoliscafenc.com.
