Service was pretty blah here, but the food was an is always amazing! I ordered the baked spasagna. The serving is enough for an entire family! I was able to have t for lunch then dinner with my son that night then for lunch and dinner the next night. I can't believe they only give you one slice of garlic bread for that entire meal lol. The bread is extremely small in comparison to the spasagna. This was my first time at this particular location. My family and I have been here several times. However, last night was not so great. The wait was over double what they told us it would be. The bathrooms were "unclean" to say the least. The tile walkways in the restaurant were so greasy that I almost slipped, and my friends 8 year old daughter did fall. Really hard to get a table starting Friday 6:30p.m. till the weekend. The first time I attempt to enter it was packed, I really thought .. whats the big deal about this place anyway, is a chain restaurant! I know that this is a Cracker Barrel esque chain. That they could at least try. The floors in the bar were greasy. The men's room had a strong urine aroma. My cocktail and a old-fashioned was so water down after waiting 15 minutes to get the drink it wasn't even worth ordering. Ordering a premium bourbon, I ordered Jim Beam and was charged $5 over what the old fashioned shot of bourbon was and it was a very light pour. Decided to go to Cheddars July 4th 4:00pm with the wife. The place was relatively empty, and we are longtime customers of this restaurant. I dropped the wife off at the front and went and found a parking spot and walked in 5 minutes later and she is still standing there waiting for a table. If you know this place it's full of booths and tables are only next to the kitchen and bar as soon as you walk in. Well I asked the hostess if we could sit at one of the 10-15 tables that were empty and told no that there was a 10 minute wait for them. I asked why and the reason was there was not a server for that section yet there was a table there with people and the waitress was taking their order. I don't get the reasoning at all for this, empty tables next to the kitchen and bar and you don't have servers and refused to seat us? I'm done with this place, didn't care we left either. read more

For a chain restaurant, this place is pretty good. No doubt about it, they serve Texas sized plates of food, and everything was excellent. This is not a fancy place, but it is very busy, and rightly so. I can't think of many restaurants I have been to that give you a bigger plate of food that isn't slop. The croissants would be equally appropriate for dessert as well as an appetizer. For whatever reason, the General Manager of the place came out to greet us personally...very nice touch. I would never in my life set foot in Appleby's, Chili's or Outback or some other national chain restaurant willingly when this kind of quality and value is anywhere near. Though the food can be described as "generic" American food, I would precede the word generic with "quality." What a good deal. Wish they would open a place in California. read more

Sirloin and Chicken strip dinner for $12.99 is worth it. Served with your choice of 2 sides. You really get your money's worth. The steak is fairly good and the chicken strips are crispy. I ordered the blacken salmon with pineapple salsa & house salad. The salmon was good and the pineapple salsa went well with the rice. Salad was wilted and the dressing was not what I requested. Mac & cheese was over cooked. The pasta was so mushy. Also ordered was the N.O. pasta. It waa good but salt & pepper was added. Overall food was good. Service, the waiter did not refilled the drinks. Um .. yum! I really liked the Shepard's Pie and Crispy Chicken Tenders. It was my first time trying the Shepard's Pie thinking it would taste horrible. Dark foods kind of gross me out sometimes ... but I loved it!! I would never order Crispy Chicken Tenders. They seem to be the staple of almost any American restaurant but this place has got it down. Crispy and juicy in all the right places. I didn't even need to use the sauce they gave us! The service was a little iffy. Maybe the server just started working. We thought he was pretty awesome with his job when he didn't have to write down our orders ... sadly he came back asking about the orders four to five times until the manager came and asked us again about our orders. Other than that, everything was great. I'm coming back here again real soon! read more

We've been coming here for years and always had a great experience and the food has been great. Today though it was meant to happen at some point. The food was not good. I had the ssirloin steak, medium well and it was super dry. The Mac and cheese was also super dry ( no creamy cheese at all), the chips were stale even the second batch we got was stale. Worst part of it all was that my wife and I were celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Will probably be a long while before I recommend and come back to Cheddars. Our visit was cool. Got in and it was wall to wall packed with waiting people, but all we needed was a table for 2. Announced it would be 28 minutes to be seated, thankfully it took less then 15. We were seated by exit door, and so to go orders were coming in and out of the door. Waitress was nice enough that once another party moved we could change. I've been coming here for 2+ years, I love this place because I'm such a regular but my favorite excuse that they use is, "we ran out of *insert item of choice*." Which helped me realize the food is either A) prepackaged, or B) the owner is cheap when it comes to ingredients. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place to everyone seeing as it's the only Cheddar's on this side of I-10. But be careful where they seat you...the large party area is usually a madhouse and service sucks back there!! They are constantly hiring so the servers usually are first-time new hires, so be easy on them because they are going to suck compared to the servers at the Cheesecake Factory. Enjoy! read more

We have been twice now. Wanted to try again because our first experience was disappointing. Well the second time reinforced that decision. We had the worst experience. The service was horrid. Appetizers after the main dish was served. Food overcooked, drinks wrong. The bar took half an hour for drinks. Manager didn't seem fazed by the bad service. Walked in and hostess TONY just looks at me i said id like a table please or are we going to have a stare off. And kindly asked for no children. Sometimes you can ask for extras or no extras you work hard for your money and can make requests. About 330 he seats us in the bar area in the corner. Im thinking great- bar-day date-=no problem. So Friday Night we decided to eat at Cheddar's in Katy. My other half simply likes the Pot Pie here, and so here we go! The hostesses in the front were busy...but yet very friendly and smiling! We then wait....not long tho...and they show us to our table....and the wait begins! Finally Ebone shows up and trys to take our drink order but she is so distract to what other employees were doing she walks aways without saying anything,...and only takes one of our drink orders(only two us at the table). She then comes back a few minutes later and takes our drink order, and by then we are ready to order,... Simply...right? Nope,...the wait is long...for even our drinks to arrive...and much more for our food to arrive! So we get our food and I had only a quarter of my food. Recieved my salad and soup way later than my sandwich,...my husband fries were cold. Simply things gone wrong! This by far was a bad experience for us...and it had been a while since we visited and it will a long while before we visit and eat here again! Btw a smile and hello by a server goes a long way,...and if the staff is going to have a get together in the booth next to us....they should be a little more considerate and concern about their conversations about customers! Took the wife out on a date night here. Atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing and all the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant to deal with. We joked with our waitress most of the night and she was a good sport, so it made our visit pleasant. The food was decent, from the appetizer to the main course. The only down side to the food was the side dishes we ordered with or meals. Between the wife and I, we had 4 side dishes. All 4 side dishes you could tell sat most of the day and were not fresh. We took a bite of each and pushed aside. But the main course was really good. The cresset rolls are very good too! We will most likely be back, but unless they improve on the side dishes, this will never hit our top ten list of places to go. read more

This was my husband and my first time at a Cheddars, and most likely the last. (At least at the Katy location). When we were seated in the bar room the smell of something rotting was so horrible we had to move to the opposite side of the place. My husband's menu was so full of stains and falling apart It was gross. Our waiter was good and attentive at least, the food was ok, nothing to write home about. The man who seated us was extremely creepy, he introduced himself three times and would stand by the the table and smile at and not leave. Apparently, Cheddars/Darden is having a lot of trouble paying their bills. I know a small business contractor who has past due invoices dating back to September 2018 that Cheddars/Darden has not paid. It is possible that Cheddars is on the brink of declaring bankruptcy. He said he's hoping to get the money out of them (with late fees) in small claims court before they go under. read more

The food was good but the service was terrible. We sat for 5-7 minutes until the waiter came by to take our drink order. We ordered an appetizer but never received it. The table on one side of us warned us about the service on their way out. The table on the other side sat even longer than us waiting to order but received their order before us. No apologies from the waiter or manager. Actually, the manager never even came by. When we paid, the waiter had our credit card for so long I felt it was safest to lock our card once we left. After being seated, we waited for almost 10 minutes without anybody coming to take our drink orders. I finally got up and ask the hostess if she could check on our waiter and she just said "he's on his way". When one of their waitress finally came to our area, she ignored us and went to another table that had arrived a few minutes after us without even saying a word to us. We decided to leave and I asked for the manager, all he said was that he was the manager in training and that he was sorry and just walked away from us. After waiting and waiting and waiting and asking twice for a manager our server finally showed up. As we let our server know she went MIA, she turned around and walked away from us.
