As one can tell. We love supporting local places. We stopped in last night and had dinner. I had the steak fingers. They were cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside, the steak was tender very tasty. Wife had the chicken fried steak. It was the same as the steak fingers. The country gravy was very good tonight. Our waitress was great. Friendly and tentative to our table and those around us. The only negative comment, I have is, the toast needs to be toasted. Soft almost white bread is not toast. Still a great family friendly place. Love their pies too. read more

My ribeye dinner was delicious. The fried okra was nicely seasoned and not oily. It's a meal I would order again. Unfortunately hubby wasn't a fan of the chicken fried chicken, the breading wouldn't stay on the chicken and was slippery. It's a cozy restaurant that serves home cooked meals. Tables are kind of packed too close so it's a manner of maneuvering thru them to get to your table. Limited parking in the front but more space in the back. The place has an old feel to it and could use a remodel but I would recommend it for home cooked meals. read more

We enjoyed chicken fried everything. The chicken fried steak was very good, nice crust and the meat was tasty with just the right amount of chew (slight). I got white gravy on the side. My wife enjoyed her chicken fried chicken. Both meals came with two very good sides, the last page of the extensive menu has a list of stellar sides. My wife went with and shared fried green tomatos and mashed taters, she got both white and brown gravy on the side per Clare's recommendations. I got the fried okra and fried onion rings, both amazing. Sides like these require an upcharge...not here! We ate half and brought the other half home. Great food and service. read more

If you're craving a a true country southern comfort meal, look no further. I can't believe we have lived in Katy for 5 years and just found this GEM. The chicken fried steak is MASSIVE ( 2 can definitely share), the steak was SO buttery soft and was packed with flavors, while the apple crisp (apple cobbler) was homemade, nice and warm! OMG, and the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES?? You have NO idea how happy I am to FINALLY find a place that makes good fried green tomatoes. This completely made my entire week!!! Inside has tons of seating while the outdoor area has seating, a playground as well as live music on Friday & Saturday nights. I can't wait for fall so we can return for the live music outdoors (was a bit hot for us still). The girl that took our order never returned and we never had the same waiter which made it a bit confusing when we needed something. Came into town to see Grand babies. From Vegas so was a little skeptical about the 3.7 on Yelp. This place flat out rocks. Every thing was fantastic. I always see this place packed passing it on the road. I was craving a burger and I figured this place would have a good one since it's always packed. Parking lot was basically full, luckily to find one in the back. It was still fairly busy during a late lunch on a Sunday. A table opened up so we didn't wait. It was kind of stuffy in there, not a lot of air flow. Our waitress and service were great! On to the food: Burger was just ok. It wasn't bad...but it also was nothing to "wow" about. My fiancé and I recently moved out to Katy from downtown. We wanted to have a bit more peace and a slower pace of life. Boy, did we hit the jackpot finding this week 2 in Katy! We went with his parents as they were visiting, and were able to get a seat immediately on a Friday night! They had live music going and the gentleman singing was wonderful. The vibe of the place is exactly what we wanted, no frills, authentic. You go for the food, and this place DELIVERS. My fiancé and his father got the Chicken Fried Steak and absolutely loved it! We loved this place so much, we have been back twice since this first visit and we've only been in Katy a month. I have tried the quesadilla and the BLT and both were to die for. Every single time we eat here, we leave happy and full. The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. My family and I got there around 745 Mother's Day they weren't busy at all I understand they were probably busy most of the day. However it doesn't excuse how dirty the floor and tables were. Food all over the floor napkins and just trash i stepped on a few fries. The staff was so busy talking to each other I could see why nothing was cleaned we didn't really even know which one was our waiter. One girl didn't even walk away from the bar area just pointed to tables when people came in. Waiter never came to ask how food was or refill drinks had to refill our own. The food was so bad I had a few bites of my fried fish (which used to be great) tasted like it had been warmed in a microwave rubbery and cold same with my sons chicken tenders the bread tasted like 3 day old bread husbands chicken fried steak was just ok as well. Very disappointing all the way around. Won't go back. I really hope the owners really do better and teach and train these kids. I would have ask to speak to a manager but all I saw were young kids. read more

The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. The place accomodates large groups. The music is all country. Which is fine with me. Now for the food. My wife ordered the double pork chops. Her two sides were fried green tomatoes and fried okra. I tasted one okra and it was pretty good. She gnawed on the bones but left a little meat on them so I finished the rest. OMG! They were perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Tender and juicy. I got the fried shrimp. My two sides were house salad and sweet potato fries. The shrimp were cooked just right and they were jumbo shrimp cooked down to extra large. What really impressed me was the breading. It was light. Not that extra thick breading that you have to bite through to find a salad shrimp underneath. Their tea is really good. All beer is $4. Except for Modelo. It's $5. The chicken fried steak was crispy on the outside and tender on inside with good flavor even in bites I took without the gravy. The mash potatoes were buttery and full of flavor with the brown gravy. We ordered our food to go so i can't speak much on the overall ambiance. It was well lit and looked clean from where we sat at the bar which was right by the entrance. Employees were nice and greeted and checked up on us every now and then for whenever we were ready to place our order. We ended up ordering 2 bacon cheeseburgers, quesadillas and the some French fries. And the guy that helped us (young guy, sorry that i can't remember his name!) Was nice enough to also offer some waters to go which I took advantage of. We had our burgers first at the hotel we were staying at, they were delicious! Cooked to perfection how we ordered I and very filling. These burgers weren't flat by any means. Quesadillas were also delicious and I'm glad the guy told us that it's big enough to share between 2 people, we ordered that to have as a late dinner. French fries were nice thick wedges and well seasoned. I don't make it out into Old Katy too often, but if ever do I'll keep this place in mind because i wouldn't mind going back for the same burgers again! read more

Reminder to self to not eat here. I've come a few times with big gaps in between so I forget the mediocrity Their Cobb salad is pathetic (I mean bad) at $15 go to Cheesecake Factory (it's 18 but delicious) or southern dough better than here not as good as cheesecake $15 OR chick fil a 11$ and pretty good for what it is. The burger was ok. But better and cheaper at TMG. I'm sure I'm the outlier here, maybe I ordered wrong. Burger and salad should fairly represent though. read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times now we live about an hour away so when we are out in Katy we try to stop in for their chili. The only problem is that the service kept getting worse it seems that we're invisible to them this last time we ordered mozzarella sticks and instead of the marinara sauce, they gave us cocktail sauce my wife almost got sick from it not to mention the big scoop I got with my mozzarella stick not delicious at all. The wait staff wasn't very helpful at all didn't check up on us very much (have better service at Chik-fil-a) so my wife got up to get us some refills and the guy behind the bar told her that this is not self serve maybe if the staff would do there job the customer wouldn't have to get up to get their own refills. The food is good best chili we have ever had anywhere I believe they need better training for there servers don't just go for the regular customers cause you never know what you might be doing with potential regular customer. If we do go back and I do mean if we do go back I will be taking my food to go and eat it in a parking lot somewhere. read more
