Bad experience with first experience. Order was 1/2 wrong for our pickup, didn't get croissant or whatever bread they offer, and we waited 15 minutes past pick up time to get our food. First impressions are lasting ones. read more

When we put our name on the list they told us it would be 20 mins, that was fine. We waited 35 mins, then waited another 15 minutes for a server to come to our table. Then they came to us and told us that the croissants were unavailable for 45 minutes. Then when we went to order (and we wanted ribs) they ran out. Then when we did order, 1 of the orders was all wrong when brought to us. The manager on duty at 7:30pm was terrible and very unprofessional. Needless to say, we will not go back there. read more

Told right away there was a waitlist, so we headed to the bar for a seat. Appeared understaffed. Spinach dip was good, chips were warm. My burger was cool, tasteless and greasy. On oct 25th we had the pleasure of having Slater as our server, he was very attentive and checked to see if we needed anything numerous times throughout the meal. We've eaten here a few times with little issue, tonight was a different story. our waitress was slow and food wasn't very good but what really stunned us was that after a couple got up from their table the waitress swept the floor and then proceeded to use the same broom to wipe the seat, after she finished another worker came behind her and used a towel to wipe the seat and then proceeded to use the same towel to then wipe the table. absolutely horrible read more

we went to cheddars in Port Charlotte New Years Eve (today) at 3:15. The host seated us with our menus and silverware-we sit there for 15 minutes- although there were two women servers around us they never said a word to us we walked out and went to the nearby Longhorns. The place was bustling, they seated us and our server had our drink orders within a minute. The Cheddars was in comparison dead. Will never darken the door of Cheddars again. I had eaten at Cheddars in Ft. Myers and was happy, do I was looking forward to the new restaurant in Port Charlotte. It has a real nice atmosphere. Ivd been here 3 times and all times I've been dissatisfied! Every time the food was way too salty! The last time was chicken something, but after talking to the manager telling him this, he said the cooks add salt to the batter mix. I actually couldn't eat it. If tasted like licking a deer salt block! Why? Leave it alone! Unfortunately I won't go back after three times getting overly salted food. read more

Only getting a one because can't write a review with a zero. What an absolutely dreadful evening with our first and only meal at Cheddars. We have been anxious to try it as we were greeted by a very rude attitude from the server. Ordering the potato soup it was delivered to the table with a dirty spoon, a long handled teaspoon for stirring tall glass jars. When I asked for another spoon she said it was only soup stain and gave a nasty response when I again asked for a clean spoon. After quite some time she return with most likely the same spoon. I cleaned it again at the table not trusting her actions. Never saw her again until bringing our dinners. I had ordered a loaded bake potato but fries showed up on my plate. I told her I didn't order fries but a baked potato, she responded I didn't put it on the plate and walked away in a huff animately shaking her head. I asked the hostess to please summon the manager. After half way completing dinner my wife asked for boxes as the whole episode made us so upset we didn't even want to finish. She brought two boxes and shoved them in front of my wife's face, not on the table, literally in her face. Never asked if we wanted anything else she plopped the bill on the table. I did pay the bill and for the first time in my life I overpaid the tip at 10%. She deserved nothing but this attitude is led by the manager who never did come to the table. I know it hard to find help but with this kind of unresponsive manager and service it better to have fewer employees. read more

I'm not sure what was worse, the food or the service. Chicken breasts tough as leather, luke warm spinach dip, and our dinner was all barely warm by the time it reached our table. Server failed to check back on needed condiments or refill drinks despite them not being busy. Icing on the cake was the employee smoking at the front door, blocking exit. Today was our first Cheddar's experience. We'll be back, and we'll recommend it to friends and family! The Monte Cristo sandwich took me back decades to my first MC by the beach at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki--absolutely delicious and decadent. Our server, Cynthia, was outstanding as she patiently answered our questions and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. We sat at the bar and the bartender, Emily, took our drink order and brought the dinner menus we asked for. She delivered the drinks and after a 20 minute wait, we asked to place our order. She was spending a lot of time talking to the couple who sat down next to us, giving them sample drinks and a bunch of nachos and appetizers. Finally took our order. After noticing that 3 tables seated and fed after we arrived left, we asked when to expect our food to arrive. Talking amongst ourselves we were discussing the likely hood of a 20%+ tip and the woman next to me proceeded to tell me that the bartender was her daughter. I thought that explained alot. There was also a young man behind the bar who approached us and said he would check on our food. The man sitting with the bartenders mother got up and came over to us and started to badger us telling us that it wasn't the bartenders fault, he knew for a fact that the kitchen was screwed up and it happens all the time. Then the manager, Casey Garwood, came to the table and started giving us a hard time. I have been in the food service business forever, having owned and operated many independent and franchise restaurants, and told her that we would always discourage employees from waiting on family and friends. Just good practice. She berated me further and said that is not how things were done. I asked for her card and informed her that I would be contacting corporate. The young man finally got our food delivered, it was not worth the wait. We had the young man get our bills and we tipped him in cash. He apologized. Emily did not approach us or offer any apologie . At no time did anyone offer to get us another round of beverages and there was no attempt to give any indication that they were sorry. We will not return to Cheddars and will all post reviews on Next Door and all social media outlets. Shame on you!!!! read more

The good: comfortable restaurant. Rolls and Cheddar Cheese bites were excellent. Staff very friendly. The bad: changed my mind about which wine I wanted and 15 minutes later the server brought my original order and said it had already been poured. Understandable if it had only been a few minutes but it was delivered even after our appetizers and bread were there. Tilapia with cheese sauce was awful. Fish overcooked and the cheese sauce thick and not pleasing. Red beans and rice-runny and soggy. Chicken fried steak was a huge portion, but over cooked. Four of us ate there a few days ago and loved it all of us had really nice meals. I saw the earlier reviews and most of it was about bad service but we also had really good service. We definitely plan to eat there on a regular basis. It's an excellent new restaurant with wonderful choices and really good pricing. I might add that most of us had something different. Worst management I've ever had to deal with very rude Got Togo food they forgot half my order called 5 times was hung up on each time left on hold. The other half the food was cold would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone! If I could give them a negative 5 star that's exactly what I would do. Worst dining experience ever! Took one hour to get food and when we got it everything was either cold, prepared wrong or missing. Wife's steak was cold, my smokehouse burger was just a cheeseburger with cheese and bacon, nothing else. My daughter's pasta was cold and my 4 year old grand daughter's food was totally missing. We waited over an hour to be seated. Once seated and the orders were placed, one order had to be changed because they ran out. My sister waited for her order until after all of us were done eating. Then we were told that they ran out of the rib eye she had ordered. She then had to take her new replacement order to go because we had all (party of nine) been at the restaurant for 3 1/2 hours. Several meals were served cold. My elderly mother had to send hers back and waited over 1/2 an hour for them to return with a hot baked potato. The only good part about the experience was being together with family and our server, who kept apologizing for all the problems. read more

I try to look for the positive in every situation, so I will start with the fact that we loved the table. It was a very thick cut tabletop in an oversized booth. We got a basket of the famous crescent rolls with honey fairly quickly. We didn't have napkins, silverware, or small plates so we sat and waited 10 min until we saw our server. We asked for utensils. Waited 20+ minutes. Server dropped off the shrimp appetizer and we reminded her again that we had nothing to eat with. She said they were short on silverware but she would try to find some. In the meantime all other tables seemed to be getting plates and silverware. She finally brought several oversized paper towels and wet forks and plopped them on the table. Bread and shrimp were stone cold by now but we were starving so ate a few bites of food. When dinner finally came it was lukewarm at best. Shrimp and fries were soggy. Chicken Breast was tough and the pasta entree was cold with many pieces of gristle. A 1 star rating was generous. We are very patient and have worked in the food industry so are forgiving and understand some challenges. But this experience was awful. 2 hours of slow service, cold food, and no silverware was disappointing! Doubt we'll be back to this establishment in Port Charlotte. read more

Our server was excellent- the place was packed and my girlfriend and I did not put our name in for a table but decided to wait in the bar area for a seat at the bar. A very friendly waitress that we later was told came from Alabama to help train the Port Charlotte staff ask us if we needed anything and we told her we were waiting for the bar- she immediately placed us in a high top and promptly took our drink order - We never heard of this restaurant - my sister said it was like a Texas Roadhouse but I disagree- the waitress took our order - I ordered chicken pot pie girlfriend had a small salmon - my salad was excellent - cold and crisp my pot pie and my girlfriends entrees serviced piping hot - something we haven't had served in chain restaurants in a long time we both were impressed with the taste and temperature of out food- those croissants were tasty and our free chips and queso for joining rewards program were served hot and plentiful - will be back read more

Our family has visited Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Port Charlotte, FL four times since it opened last Fall. The first three visits were enjoyable because of good service and excellent food. Unfortunately, our experience this past Saturday Night was the complete opposite. Once my wife, daughter, and I were seated our server took our drink and appetizer order. We ordered Wisconsin Cheese Bites. Later she returned to take our dinner order and stopped mid order to answer her cell phone. She walked away and was gone 5 minutes. I am 54 and eat out frequently, and that has never happened to us before. When she came back, I tried to order The Texas T-Bone and was told it was not available, so I asked for the ribs and got the same response. My daughter ordered the classic cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise cooked medium. When our dinners came out, I told the server we had not gotten our appetizer. My daughter's cheeseburger did not come with mayonnaise, so we asked our server for it. She went to get it and did not come back. We saw her wait on other tables, deliver cake to the table next to ours, and eventually I went to find her. I found her at the hostess stand and asked again for mayonnaise. She did not bring it, so we asked the bar tender, who was very kind and got it. By the time the mayo got to our table, my wife and I were done with our meals and my daughters' burger was cold and inedible. She took two bites and said she couldn't eat it. We asked for our check and it had the appetizer we never received, and a beverage we hadn't ordered on it. It took ten minutes and eventually another server taking over to get the check right. We know the manager was aware of the bad experience we were having, because our second server told us she discussed it with them. We thought we would get a visit from a supervisor or manager to explain the terrible service and maybe offer an apology. All we got was the replacement server telling us the restaurant had a bunch of new inexperienced wait staff that were not familiar with Cheddar's ways of doing things. With all the other mid-priced restaurants in this area, why put up with this kind of treatment. read more

i ordered online and as soon as i got there i had 5 more minutes until my order was supposed to be ready and a worker came out and said they were out of one of the things i ordered. i wanted another 15 minutes and got the rest of my food and i was missing the bread that came with my pasta. the cheese fries had no cheese and no bacon on it, ranch was missing and was room temperature and tasted like old fries. hear me out i love cheddars but port charlotte always ruins everything. read more
