I honestly think the menu needs a little bit of an update...no chicken wings ...in 2023...what are we in the 80's.They served us our spinach dip and chips and the chips were not even a bit warm...cold chips !!?!? This was my first visit to this new location and if there was a no star option I'd choose it. First issue, the server told us a list of almost half of the menu items were out. Next, I ordered a simple chicken tenders meal (since not many choices on the menu)and my husband a monte cristo, it took exactly 50 mins to get our food on a non busy Monday nt. This was the kitchen crews fault, but the service in general was also not up to par, neither was the food. Then I asked for corn instead of cole slaw, I got my food with coleslaw and was told they're out of corn! WOW! Lastly, the few fries I got were room temp and tasted old. The Cajun chicken bowl is not Cajun at all. Says it's served with blackened chicken, red beans and rice with pico. The chicken isn't blackened, it's grilled with a little bit of Cajun seasoning, the red beans and rice are not Cajun at all either. They're white rice with red beans in it. Disappointed. They were training a lot of new staff today, so there were a few bumps when it came to seating at specific tables. Even getting dishes delivered. All I suggest to everyone, is be patient, this is a new place and naturally it gets busy QUICK. They are all still learning, including the kitchen staff. I decided to try the newly open Cheddars in Port Charlotte. I've never been to a Cheddars and have only heard great things , especially about their hot croissants they bring to the table! It was a bit of a wait even on a Sunday afternoon, roughly 45 mins nothing to terrible. Our sever was sweet with a bubbly personality and greeted us as soon as we were seated. The restaurant was clean with a comfy decor. The food was hot and definitely taste fresh and made from scratch. I went with the 6 ounce sirloin, broccoli and sweet baby carrots and my mom opted for the caesar salad and homemade chicken pot pie that look to die for! The main course came out and presentation was less than desirable. I ordered the Dijon chicken breasts with mushrooms on a bed of rice. Well I thought the mushrooms were in the sauce. Went to Cheddars recently and I figured we would have to wait for a table. We walked right in and sat in a booth. It was no wonder we didn't wait. The food was terrible. The buffalo chicken wrap didn't come out with French fries and after the waiter retrieved them they were soggy and old. My wrap was half empty with more tortilla than chicken. The other wrap ordered was supposed to have lettuce and there seemed to be a few leaves of restocked like basil. Needless to say we won't be back there again. My boyfriend and I went here on August 2 around 6:30pm. We were seated at a table right near the bathrooms in the corner. We waited maybe 20 minutes for the waitress to come over and get our drinks and appetizer order. She comes back 5 minutes later with the drinks and my boyfriend feels something coming up the straw, turns out it was a shard of glass from the rim of the glass. We called a waitress over (our waitress kept hiding from us). She apologized and brought a new drink out. Then we put our entrees in after another waitress had to go get our waitress. My order was correct while my boyfriend's order was extremely wrong but we didn't complain about it. We paid our bill and tipped, as we are leaving I see our waitress walking behind me and up to the hostess counter. All of a sudden I hear, "They were so rude." Now mind you, we didn't complain about the food except for having glass in the drink. I've been going to this location, since opening. I won't say its the worst place I have eaten in by any means, but there are some things I don't care for or would like to see changed. One thing is with the fries, they always taste weird. I don't know if it's the oil they use, something they put on them or they need another fry type. I've heard a few others complain too. I would say, they are my top two least liked fries in PC. To be honest, when I want a meal with fries, the fries keep me from visiting and I love chicken fingers and fries. They taste that bad to me. I do love the chicken tenders. Used to be bland with no taste, but lately they have been better. As always, the croissants are tasty. Sometimes they forget about bringing those. I would absolutely love it, if they would add a club on bread type sandwich. I would get that a lot. They don't have enough sandwich options for those who don't want salad, but also don't want a heavy meal. One of the biggest issues I have a lot there, is they are so slow preparing and bringing out your food. There have been times, where I have waited 45 minutes to almost an hour until my food came. After a while, I would lose my appetite from waiting so long. That's another big reason I don't care to go there as much as I did in the beginning. If other places can have your food out at a more reasonable speed, then Cheddar's should be able as well. Maybe it's short staffed, slow inexperienced workers or they need a better kitchen system. All I know is that I have found myself saying at times, "They take too long," when my husband wants to go to Cheddars. I will give credit for having a beautiful clean dining place. That's the very first thing I look for when trying a new place. If I go in and it's looking unclean, I turn around and leave, so I appreciate how clean it looks and feels. The environment is great. While this is to be expected with a recently opened restaurant in a small(ish) town what brings this brand new place down is what its actually in business for: the food! I will start off with the positives. The service was magnificent! Emily our server was extraordinary and an amazing server. The drinks are rich in flavor and size, props to the bartender who ever you are! Now, the main event of course. This establishment's, at least for tonight, crowning glory has got to be the croissants. I could come back just to eat those and have the drinks. Just might come back just for that purpose. The food was mediocre. Portions were ridiculously small (is that really a 8 oz. Salmon?) for the price. The steak was dry even while cooked medium and the sides we either lukewarm or just plain bland. The queso was most definitely room temperature.
