McAlisterr's in Port Charlotte is certainly not a traditional Deli as we know them to be. Having said that the menu is varied from soup to salads. We ordered a chicken pecan salad and a black angus club both were good. The restaurant is spacious with high top, table and booth sitting. One stands in line to order and the order is brought to your table. Overall this is an ok spot to grab a sandwich or a salad but it is not a New York Deli by any means. read more

Paid $32 for 2x Cuban sandwiches that were 6" each lol, literally the smallest Cuban sandwich I've ever seen. 2 of these cost $32 with 2 bags of chips never ordering from here again! When the bag arrived I couldn't believe our while order was in there, from the pictures they use on the website it appears that you will get a decent sized sandwich, nope! 2 of these full size subs are equal to 1 subway sized sandwich and the ingredients are of the same quality. It was...okay-ish. I know of McAlister's from other locations so was excited to try this which was near family I was visiting. We ordered four "pick 2" and the food was decent. Nothing amazing but okay. I HATE rye, and I ordered a Rueben with white bread. Picked up the to-go order to find rye bread. So I ate corned beef, not a sandwich. Ugh. But the annoying part? I got charged a $1.35 fee for their website! True story. Check your receipt if you order online. Why am I paying your business cost of doing business? Stupid. Although small, it's enough for me to not order through them again because the principle of the matter. Cuban is small. Chicken Caesar wrap was pretty decent. The barbecue pork nachos do not travel well as a to go so I would skip that if you were considering it for a pick up or delivery. And a small amount of pork and toppings-mostly just chips and a spicy cheese dip. My mom said the chicken pecan salad on a croissant was quite tasty. We have eaten here many times. It's almost always great. The restaurant is bright and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Sign up for the app, those points add up quickly. If you're dining in and tend to get chilled easily, bring a sweater. Service is usually spot on inside, but the drive through pickup can be spotty. Check your order before you leave! Excellent Find! Such a great place! The staff is fantastic, friendly and funny and warm. Perfect atmosphere for a Bistro, calm fresh casual. The food is wonderful, fresh ingredients, freshly prepared. They nail the Italian basics, which is t always easy. All the beef and veal we have had there is cooked to perfection. First time I had ever eaten here. Tried a you pick 2, went with Southwest Chicken salad, and half of a spicy chicken wrap. The salad was ok but they were out of their southwest salad dressing so had to go with balsamic vinaigrette. The wrap was ok had a chipolte dressing on it. I might give it a second try but wasn't too impressed by my first visit. Was clean inside. They bring your order to the table for you. They come and clean off your table after you are done. Edit: As of 01/15/2024, this location is open. Ordered a pick 2 meal, sandwich and potato. The portions were great, and the food was okay. The staff were friendly, and my order was completed right on time (drive-thru pickup). The potato was bland for a loaded potato, and the bread was soggy on my reuben, but that can be attributed to the carryout. As of 12/22/2023, this location is still not open. The McAlister's Deli website lists it as "Coming soon!" but does not list a phone number or estimated date of opening. The building appears to have been completed in November 2023. read more

I went to the McAlister's in Port Charlotte, FL yesterday. This was my very first visit. I was the only person in the restaurant and ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with a side of fresh fruit. Around 15-20 minutes later I finally gave up disgusted and left. I never did receive my sandwich even though I had paid nearly 15 dollars (including tip) for it. I could have just flushed my money down the toilet and saved the gas money. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

Everyone was very helpful and friendly. We went on a Sunday and it was crowded but food came out quick. I feel that the food and pricing is better than Jersey Mikes. So these transplanted former NYers have been searching for the perfect Florida deli. I mean why is it soooo difficult to find a well-crafted corned beef or pastrami sandwich?? "Go to the East Coast", they said. "All the Jewish people there have their kosher-style delis!" they said. I'm not driving 3 hours for a sandwich! Now, it's 15 minutes away, at McAlister's Deli. Yes, on Florida's west coast! The sandwich is called The New Yorker, & it's almost as good (minus the cheese) as the one made at the much venerated Katz's Deli in NYC. The meat was juicy, well layered, not too fatty, just perfect in every way! The only difference, is McAlister's will bring the order to your table. The service is great! The ambience isn't like the "When Harry Met Sally" cameo, so there's nothing historical or special. I KNOW, since I cut my teeth on Katz's sandwiches as a child. We ate here on day 3 of being open. to the manager and whomever trained the staff. look in a mirror and pat yourself on the back, you did a great job. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. now for the food, they ran out of roast beef so I could not to the French Dip, gives me another reason to go back. My wife had the McAlister's club and commented that she would come back to have it again. I am more the deli person than her, so this is a big compliment. I ended up having the the New Yorker and glad I did, the meat melted in my mouth, my wife tried it also commented on how good it was. Tried out the new McAllister's in PC today! I had a very good choose two salad and sandwich. They were very busy, but I received my food promptly and it was tasty. I believe it was a regional manager that was chatting with everyone, & I didn't hear a single complaint. I think everyone is thankful to have a new spot to dine. We went to McAlister's at 19570 Cochran Blvd, Port Charlotte, for the first time this Friday afternoon. The first thing we noticed was the place was large, bright and clean. We walked through the front door and straight ahead was the ordering counter, with their large menu selection on the wall. We were greeted immediately and the counter staff were VERY helpful and polite. I ordered half Reuben and half Chef's Salad. My wife ordered the Savannah Salad and my grandson ordered the Garden Turkey. We got our drinks and sat down. It was only a few minutes and we were served. For those who have not gone there, you get a number card when you order and you can sit anywhere and place the number on the placard holder at your table. Much like they do at Culver's. It works well. My Reuben had bread that was soggy. I felt that they had prepared it beforehand. The taste was ok, but it was not outstanding. The Chef Salad was good, but there was little texture since they used sliced deli turkey meat and ham and then chopped that. So the texture was much like a chopped salad and not like the Chef Salads I have had before at other places. My wife did say her Savannah Salad was delicious. It's a solid choice for eating, but I have to say I was a little disappointed on the flavor. I thought it could be better. The corned beef in the Reuben was not as good as some other places I have had. Don't get me wrong, I'll go back again. It may have been that my expectations were too high. At any rate, I have no problem recommending that you check them out. Their menu is substantial and I am sure I will try other items there. I think you will find them a good choice. My sandwich was delicious, it was supposed to be a half but was only a quarter. They were too busy to inquire about it. The delivery person said it was correct. My husband ordered a whole and he received 4 of the quarters that I received. The potato was a very large "1/2" it was actually a large potato. I arrived at 1:00 pm but my potato was only warm and the texture was like it was warmed up. Maybe yesterdays not sure. The food looked good. I may give it one more try Hoping it's just because they recently opened. read more

Had lunch there a few weeks ago. It was very busy, but ordering at the counter went quickly. They give you a number, you find a table and they bring your food to you. My daughter and I ordered the Reuben sandwiches, it was the best Reuben I ever ate! Fresh soft marbled rye, and then corned beef very tender and piled high. I had the Chicken Tortilla soup which was nothing special. We also had the potato salad and it was pretty good. My husband ordered the Horseradish Roast Beef sandwich. It was very thin ( compared to the Reuben) the meat was very dry and he couldn't find any horseradish. It came on a chibatta roll. Dined in for the first time tonight. We had never been to a McAlister's before. My husband ordered the New Yorker and I ordered the roast beef and horseradish sandwich. Both orders were a half a sandwich and a cup of soup combo. I asked what kind of soup was included in the combo, and Christina called out different soups, including the kicking crab so I originally ordered the crab soup but after receiving our combos I noticed how small my half of sandwich was and didn't have hardly any meat inside. I also tried a bite of the crab soup and it was way too spicy for me so I apologized and ask if I could change it to the broccoli and cheddar which they did exchange for me. They said that was the normal sandwich, but my husband's New Yorker sandwich was piled high with meat and mine had two pieces of roast beef on it, which was very disappointed, and I was never asked if I would like something else instead to make my first experience, a good one. Instead, I had to eat that sandwich because they said there was nothing they could do about it When we got our check I noticed I had an up charge for $1.79 and Christina explained that it was for the kicking Crab, but I also told her that I returned the soup and did not eat it and she said that she still gave the crab to me to begin with even though I sent it back and the charge applied and I told her that I did not feel that was right since I did not eat the crab soup, she said that she would have to pay for it out-of-pocket and if I wanted it reimbursed back to my credit card as originally she would need to call the GM Jeff and she wasn't going to do that and bother him. We're so glad that McAlister's Deli is open in PC. It located between Kohl's and HD. Plenty of parking. Restaurant is roomy, airy and clean. Simple and modern design, yet, comfortable seatings. CiCi at order line was friendly, polite and helpful. She helped me and my husband to choose the sandwiches and salads. They were all DELICIOUS. Thanks Cici. Very generous size of salad even though I ordered just half-size, chicken was soft, tendered and the sherry dressing was good too. Not too sweet nor sour. My grilled chicken sandwich was prepared perfectly, chicken was tendered and I liked the croissant that comes with it. My husband got McAlister's club and he gave a thumb up of approval. He told me that we'll come back to try different sandwiches NEXT WEEK Restaurant staffs are pleasant to talk to. FYI, you can order online and pick up inside or drive-thru pickup. Took my son here for a sandwich, and what a disappointment. He ordered the cheese melt...and it was cold in the middle. By definition, you'd expect the sandwich to be warm...and well, melted. I ordered the roast beef and horseradish melt. The sandwiches come cut in half. Half of the sandwich had little to no meat, while the other half was clearly doubled up. If I'm going to spend $30 on a couple sandwiches, I expect them to be better than a pub sub or subway. Sadly, these were just not prepared with any care. The line had just filled up for lunch so I had no desire to go up and kick it back to them. I will say the young lady at the counter was friendly and all smiles. Ordering was a breeze. Today was opening day, so I suspected that the service or for quality might be less than perfect, but I was wrong! It was a perfect casual meal experience. They had plenty of staff, so there was very little wait; the food was excellent and had our orders perfect; the staff were knowledgeable and the friendliest workers that I've encountered since moving to Port Charlotte!! Even after bringing out our food, they came around to see if we needed anything and offered drink refills. This will be our new favorite sandwich place! read more

Sat in a booth and all the flat surfaces had a lot of dust accumulated and especially on their napkin holder, a very big turn off. New place looks great but their cleaning service needs improvement.
