As my daughter and I walked in the door the hostess walked away and we stood there waiting for them to return to be greeted/seated. We were seated in the far back side of the restaurant with our menus and left there waiting for approximately 10 minutes without a server ever coming to our table. We got up left and noticed the large amount of staff (mostly teens/young adults) and no one even noticed we left. I stopped and told the hostess we were leaving and it was like talking to a wall. We came in last night to get a night cap. We sat in the bar/lounge area where it is open seating. Not one worker there acknowledge us at all. We waited 5 minutes before pushing the call server button on the kiosk. After pushing the button we waited 10 minutes. Two servers walked right past the table and said nothing. The bartender had maybe 3 guest at the bar. Absolutely no one came to the table in the 15 minutes we were there so we got up and left. We won't be coming to this location again. It makes sense now to why it's so slow. The bartender was either white or Hispanic with brown hair and glasses. Never spoke. Another young man with half pink hair walked by and said nothing. And another gentleman walked by with some over due dreads. Y'all need to do better. read more

Walked in around 4, my friend was waiting for me at the bar. Our server was the bartender as well; I found it very unaccommodating. He wasn't attentive. The food took at least 35 mins to come out and it wasn't even busy. Our sever was all over the place. My cousin joined us a little later. After all these years, we decided to give Cheddar's another try. My wife and I stopped in for a Monday lunch. We arrived at 11am. The doors were locked. Arriving workers were coming in, doors were still locked. The hostess finally came to the door to let the workers in and apologized to us saying the manager didn't unlock the door. We were seated immediately, but greeted slowly by our server Darwin. Our drink orders came out quick. My wife ordered the lemon pepper chicken. I ordered the chicken tenders. It took 45 minutes for our order to arrive. Our server apologized, but we weren't in a hurry (at that time). My wife's chicken was actually pretty good. The chicken breast was moist and favorable. The ends were a bit dry for me, but my wife didn't seem to mind. My chicken tenders weren't bad, but there was no seasoning/flavor in the crust. The tenders were pretty bland. The coleslaw was pretty good. Onion rings were really good. Now the bad. Our server was terrible. While waiting for our food, Darwin never came by to check on us. Our glasses were empty for a long time. After he delivered our food, he filled our tea glasses and he was gone again. We had already finished our meal when he returned to check on us (our glasses were empty again). He took our dirty plates and he was gone again. Several minutes passed and I was about to go find him to get our check. We weren't in a hurry, but I do have my limits. Just as I was about the get up, Darwin brought out our check. I can only imagine how bad service would have been if it was a busy Saturday. The food at Cheddar's was so so. I guess the service is hit or miss, but based on some other reviews this is the norm for this Cheddar's. After passing by this restaurant several times, I decided to give it a try. I have been to another Cheddar's location in Houston and was pleased with it. I didn't see this one being any less pleasing. The decor is well done and tasteful. I love the cool ceiling fan! The hostess was welcoming and considering it was right at 5 PM there was no wait. The server was prompt to appear and take the drink order as well as an order for an appetizer. She was also very good about checking back regularly. As an appetizer I got potato skins. They were baked perfectly and I was happy to see the kitchen did not skimp on cheese or bacon. For my entree I ordered the mushroom cheeseburger and was very impressed by the flavor. It was savory and the meat was tender. I loved the whole button mushrooms. Add those to the melted cheese and I had one great burger. The bread was lightly toasted and fresh. I didn't order any sides which was just as well because the burger itself was very filling. I was well satisfied with this restaurant. It's clean (still smells new) with efficient staff and tasty food. I'll definitely be back. read more

Hey Sugar Land, I get it!!! You really love your chain restaurants!!! You will line up outside of the door in any weather and wait for hours to eat average food, suitable to feed some well-groomed animals. Please Sugar Land, lets get some class and lets begin to think outside of box a little bit, because you're seriously killing me! I have lived in Houston for a number of years and this was my first time experiencing Cheddars Casual Cafe. I heard that it was very similar to Chili's but with much cheaper but decent food. So went to the Cheddars in Sugar Land and of course the line is out the door and the wait is 30-45 minutes. Once we got seated, I did note the decent selection on the menu and the cheap prices, including on alcoholic beverages. I ordered a Texas Tea and to be honest that and the honey butter croissants may have been the best part of my meal. The service was absolutely horrendous. We did not get out drinks, including water, that we ordered when we sat down until well into our meal. The server on numerous occasions forgot simple parts of our order, and was incredibly slow. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were over worked but I found out that they only had three tables. And in the end they screwed up our tab and screwed up a to-go order. As for my food, the Spinach and Artichoke Dip is pretty poor, it was very thick and not very cheesy at all. My Grown Up grill cheese sandwich was ok. It had a decent taste but was really greasy and way over priced. I will say that the asian chicken salad and the chicken tenders are pretty darn good. So c'mon Sugar Land, you guys can do better than these crappy chain restaurants. But as long as the lines continue to be out the doors, they will keep on coming out here. read more

I have been to other Cheddar's locations and have not had any issues whatsoever. This location though, is among the worst restaurants I have ever been to in my life. Now, the food is typically average here and the drinks are affordable, so it's an easy place to gather with some friends for a low-key casual get together. But NEVER AGAIN. I have sworn off this place forever and will NEVER be coming back here. I tell everyone I know not to visit this place as the service is HORRIBLE. I can tolerate bad service once or twice and chalk it up to a bad night or just bad luck, but I've had terrible service here on numerous occasions. In fact, they greatly outnumber the times I have had decent service here. Considering the bar is mostly empty, except for maybe 1 or 2 other groups of 2-4 people, you would think the waitstaff would notice you sitting there for over 20 minutes without having been helped. And even after flagging someone down, we were told by this person that they would grab a waiter/waitress for us. This never happened and we eventually just got up and left since no one thought it was important to get around to our table. And it's not as if there were not enough waitstaff or that the restaurant was packed. It was EMPTY. Simply ridiculous. Mind you, this is one of MANY similar incidents I have had back when I used to come here, so do yourself a favor and save your money and time by not coming here. There are far better establishments in the area, and even shopping center, that serve better food, have lower prices, and have WAAAAAY better service than this place. Spinach Dip: 5/5 - It was very rich and creamy. The spinach pieces were a nice size. I don't like it when some restaurants have it almost pureed like baby food. I love the salsa that they bring out with it. It also has a good consistency and is spicy. Monte Cristo: 5/5 - A fried ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich, topped with powdered sugar with a side of raspberry preserves. Delicious. Fries: 1/5 - very small portion and soggy Corn battered Catfish: 4/5 - It was lightly fried; not too oily. My mom got the lunch portion for $7 and it came with two sides. Red beans and rice: 4/5 - Good ratio of red beans/sausage to rice. Broccoli Rice Casserole: 4/5 - again, good ratio of broccoli to cheese to rice. Loaded Baked Potato: 2/5 - I guess loaded means cheese, sour cream, and butter. No chives, no bacon bits. It's small too. Margarita: 5/5 - at $3.50 for a large glass, totally worth it!! This is regular price; no happy hour (but it's not needed). Their desserts were HUGE but we were so stuffed we didn't have any. Service: 4/5 - We were fortunate and had a great server. It was also not during a peak dining time. Ambiance: 3/5 - great for kids - their screaming blends in with the white noise. read more

I have been to other Cheddar's locations and never had a bad experience unlike this location! My family and friends are in the Restaurant and Hospitality business for years and work for Well known companies and also run our own restaurants so we know how things should be. First off, it took about 15 mins to get our drinks and the place wasn't even a full house. When we finally got to order it took another 45 mins for SOME of the food to come out. We had kids and two of their meals came out nearly an hour later! Food came out COLD like it had been sitting for a LONG time! Even an appetizer someone ordered came out after she was almost done eating her entrée......really? Secondly, the table behind us ordered after our table and got all their food before us! Apparently they had better service as well. I only give a little credit to our server for apologizing that the food came out late but my other party was pretty upset with her service and the behavior of the other servers and herself. I wanted to complain to a manager but we didn't have anyone approach our table like they are supposed to and no one in the front for us to speak to when we were leaving. We couldn't wait any longer because the kids were getting restless so we left and I called to complain. We were driving down highway six to find a restaurant that would appease our appetites and saw Cheddar's was finally open. Oddly, we decided to pass it up and see what else we could find further down in the First Colony Mall area. Made our way to FCM but nothing appealed to us and made our way back to Cheddar's. Back in the day i remember going to the beltway and westpark location and it was good - no complaints...just only good experiences. We stopped going since it was more of a hassle to get to that area. Fortunate for us the new one literally opened a day ago. Looking back on tonight's eating experience-i wasn't let down. From what we ordered it was still quite satisfying as i expected it to be. There are alot of the same food from what i remembered but there are more combination to get what you really want. Couple of things i really enjoyed: -The size of meat each rib had. My mom ordered an entire rack of ribs - and WOW these racks are huge. (ha). i have never seen such big and juicy ribs at a casual restaurant like this. chili's ribs are just embarrassing compared to them here. -Chicken tenders - I ordered the top sirloin and tenders. sirloin was good but the chicken tenders were exceptional - breaded and fried but still super moist and tender. -Broccoli casserole was good. -buttered croissants - seemed like baked to order and melts in your mouth. could eat these all day with the melted butter on top. What's best about this restaurant is the quantity and the value. for a party of 4, we spent $66 for an appetizer, sodas and four entrees and we all had leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Cheddar's is a great restaurant and hands down is the leader of the pack of casual dining restaurants. It definitely beats Chilis, Ruby Tuesdays, TGIFriday's, etc. easily. I got here at 7pm on a Monday night and waited a while to get a large table. Once seated it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks, mind you they forgot my water and my sisters. Overall the service was just plain bad. We were here for an hour and a half before we got our meals and they were mediocre at best. I came here last night. As I was walking up I was thinking on what I was going to get. When we got inside no one was at the host stand. We stood there for a good five minutes no one even came up to us. So we decided to take it upon ourselves to pick a seat. We waited and waited and no one came. We can just see everyone talking to each other and laughing. Someone else walked through the door and they got greeted right away. Maybe we are being discriminated? Who knows? About 10 minutes later someone comes up and says "follow me." Not even a hello, I'm sorry, sorry for the wait, how was your day. She was straight up rude. Didn't even smile at us. The worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. I stopped going a couple of years ago because of how bad the service was. I went again last week and nothing had changed. I sat at my table in the bar area (first come, first serve) for 20 minutes and not one waiter even came up to the table. I ended up having to go up to the bar and stand there for another 10 minutes before the bartender came over and took my order. We went for lunch and it was not busy at all. We were waiting on two people so we asked the waiter to come back. After they arrived he waited about 10 minutes to take our orders. I got up to go to the bathroom and almost slipped and fell on the wet floor. It was moist and it felt like there was a layer of oil on it all the way to the bathroom. I had to walk slowly and carefully. The door handles in the bathroom were moist too so not sure if this is a regular thing or they had cleaned?? The Monte Cristo and broccoli cheese casserole are to die for!! Yum Yum!! The food took about 25 minutes to come out and we immediately asked for the check knowing we needed to leave quickly. There were no apologies for the food taking so long in a pretty empty restaurant. Lunch took an hour and ten minutes and we were late getting back to work. If you know Cheddars, you know they are known for their honey butter Croissants! I went in for a late dinner around 10pm and found out that just for that one day, someone had mis-ordered and they were OUT of croissants. I understand since it was late, but the manager shared that they had been out ALL DAY! They make everything from scratch so if something is ordered wrong, it's hard to recover from it in that day. Well, I was sorely disappointed but moved on when they were willing to comp my dessert instead. Thanks! I know they close at 11pm but I got there at 10 and there was no hostess to greet us at the door. Hrm, bad start but our waiter totally made up for it. Devon did GREAT with our order, getting the food to us quick, and even chatting with us here and there. I appreciated his positive attitude since most waiters don't like late night diners. I ordered one of their specialty salads (chicken, apple with a vinaigrette dressing), and my friends got a chicken wrap. The food was tasty and I would say I like this place better than Chili's because Cheddars' food taste more fresh and southern comfort than it's competitor. Lastly, the dessert which was a delicious warm perfectly gooey cookie with ice cream on top was SO GOOD. DAMN! Go the extra mileage and go to the West Chase. I've been to this place 4 times since it's opened, I've ordered the same thing 4 times and 4 times they got it WRONG! Every time I go, I think, maybe it'll get better!! I'm sorely disappointed every time!!! EVERY time I ask for pickle, EVERY time the waitress writes it down (I make sure) and EVERY time the kitchen messes up my order. They DON'T make it from fresh when I send it back, they pick the pickle out, meaning my food is not only luke-warm, but also, everything tastes of pickle. Not only that, but today's 'attempt' had a sorry excuse for chicken in my wrap (one 1/4 of the wrap was freakin' EMPTY!!!!) and the chicken that was there, was so chargrilled it was BURNT. I ordered the Cesar Salad and it had way too much dressing on it. I also got a Club Sandwich which came with 3 types of meat, cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The Club Sandwich bread was a little stale, and they used cheap meat to make it. The price of the food is really cheap almost like its happy hour all the time. I think this is the reason Cheddars always has a big crowd. You can feed a large family for cheap here. This is the reason I am giving them 3 stars. The drinks are relatively inexpensive, and they are pretty good. They also have honey soaked corn bread, and it is so sweet. If you have a sweet tooth then you will like it. They have lots of seating, and you never have to wait when you go to Cheddars. The staff are friendly, and the waiters are attentive. I just think the quality of food could be better.
