I was really excited to hear that a Cheddars opened up in Sugar Land because I loooved going to the one in Austin. I was back in Texas for only a week and had limited # of restaurants to dine at, but Cheddars was one of them ; ) I was a little wary due to other reviews saying that service was bad or slow, but our waitress did a fine job. As for food, I ordered the lunch portion of the grilled salmon with sides of mashed potatoes and seasoned rice. My dad ordered the grilled salmon as well except dinner portion, and my salmon was actually pretty sizeable compared to his (I'm not sure how they compared ounce-wise but I thought mine was a good deal). It was all very tasty and satisfying. Salmon wasn't overcooked. I'm usually kind of nervous about bringing my dad to American restaurants since he has more of a taste for Asian food, but he liked his meal. We also ordered a side of their famous honey buttered croissants (comes with 3), which I was much anticipating/craving. Unfortunately it was a little skimpy on the honey compared to the butter, so it didn't taste as good as I remembered it. One more downside is that I think the prices went up because the chicken pot pie used to be $5 and change but now it's $6.69. However, the menu items are still reasonably priced (especially the burgers). Overall, I would say the quality is comparable to the typical Cheddars, which is a good thing. *thumps up* read more

I absolutely love Cheddar's. Never have I gone was I dissatisfied, until now. Food: I always order the tilapia mango salsa dish, but today after trying a friend's plate, I got the Cajun Alfredo Pasta. The chicken in the pasta was EXTREMELY salty. The pasta didn't taste flavorful at all from what I remembered it to be. Definitely wouldn't get this plate again at this location. The honey croissant was delicious because nothing could much go wrong with that. The chicken tenders have always pleased my sister, and I have to admit chicken tenders at Cheddar's was pretty delicious, but this location tasted different. I couldn't figure out why, but it just was. The salad was filled with the ice berg crunchy part and not the actual leafy part, so I felt a little ripped off cause of that. Service: The server we had was EXTREMELY overly friendly to the point he was annoying. I want service that cares and takes the initiative to make us feel welcomed and served, not kissed up to. This server was literally standing over our shoulders and kept reminding us, in a cheesingly annoying way, that he is going to take care of us. If he wants to take care of us, serve us and then let us enjoy our meal and the company that we came with. Then at the end he mentions and really pushes for us to take a survey and tell them how great he was because recently they have been getting bad reviews of the food and the service. Then we knew why he was being to annoying. He wanted to ensure he didn't lose his job. Sweet kid, but pushed it over the top. Then to top it all off, as we are leaving, this server brings out a tower of onion rings to us. We tell them we didn't order it, and he frantically apologizes and goes to the table next to us, then they tell him its the wrong table as well. Basically, after the second strike the whole section of the restaurant started to stare and laugh in confusion as the table who did order watched the server guess another table wrong. That table was extremely upset, and I wouldn't blame him cause he could've gone to verify it with someone before trying so many tables. Over all, this restaurant may not have been on it's best quality of food today, but service was quite disappointing. Yes, our server went over the top to make us happy, but he really just made it worse. I wouldn't return to this location but rather go to another location just so I can leave a little bit happier and remain loving the restaurant I do most. read more

If the service was better I would give this place five stars. The croissants are AMAZING. I agree with another reviewer that says that these are the best croissants they have ever had INCLUDING those had in Paris. They are oven fresh..flaky on the outside light, airy perfect soft goodness on the inside. Price/Ambiance: I almost thought it was a joke. The prices do not match the decor. Greasy spoon in some small town circa 1995 prices with ambiance that is several steps above Applebees and Outback. I love the fish tank and the bamboo fans. Winning!!! Food: Everything was really good. The mashed potatoes where REAL mashed potatoes. My broccoli was properly steamed and still bright green. The Salmon wasn't dry. I was impressed. Service: On a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 6. As a former server I am sensitive to the fact servers have more than one table, are human and forget things, have side work etc. However, the amount of time we had to wait to get things ended up being disruptive to the meal. Going without refills and condiments for extended periods of time sucks. My niece waited 15 minutes for lettuce and tomato for her burger. By the time it came she had finished her fries and the burger was cold. I ordered Blackened Salmon and received the grilled option instead. By the time she finally returned to the table I had finally eaten 1/3 of it and when I inquired if this was indeed the Blackened Salmon she immediately said yes without looking. However, I only docked one star because that is one person, on one day, in one instance. Location/Parking: I am from DC with family living in Fresno, Tx, so I can't really speak to the convenience of the location. The parking is free and onsite (not a garage down the street or street parking). It sits right off a major road. Sat at the bar and waited to be served. Nobody next to me on either side to abide by social distancing. Meanwhile the other seats at the bar were filling up with absolutely no regard for social distancing. After looking at the menu for 10 minutes while waiting for a bar tender that was nowhere to be found. He finally came out and told me that he would not allow me to sit where I was sitting due to the guy being two seats to my right and that was too close even though there were people directly next to him on the other side. What happened? First, it took awhile before we were noticed. Then we got our dinner before we got our drinks or salad. It took over half way into our meal to get our drinks. We were in the bar area, and the bartender was doing nothing and even said how slow it was. The restaurant itself wasn't busy either. They said they were shorthanded, but it was late Saturday night and really only a handful of tables left. Then half my food was cold, and instead of cole slaw I got a side of the dressing with a bit of cabbage in it. To top it off, both me and the beau ended up with food poisoning. This is a chain...so I expect consistency with the food and great service... We were seated in a booth and my niece sat in a high chair on the end. I would've preferred a table where my niece wasn't sticking out on the end, but her mother didn't object so I didn't either... We started with chips and queso and it was delicious. We didn't add the beef, but it's nice that you can for no charge. I had the Cheddar's Club. It was good, but the lunch meat seemed "slimy" for lack of a better description. I got fries on the side. I ate it, but I've had better clubs, but again, this is Cheddar's and you shouldn't come to a big chain like this expecting mind blowing food. My niece had the pasta marinara and ate it up. So I came here not too long ago. My friend was raving about how amazing the croissants were. I am a sucker for croissants so I was pretty down to come here. This was my last day in Texas for my trip so might as well try some hearty food. Arrived here, it was pretty packed. We were seated quickly, for some reason I thought there was going to be quite a wait. Looked at the menu, what definitely caught my attention was the New Orleans pasta. Obviously I ordered it. My husband and I came here for dinner one night and almost had to walk out, but we didn't. Our server eventually noticed us and worked hard to make amends. We seriously sat at the table for 15 minutes before someone even came over to ask us what drinks we would like. The food is alright which means we may come back. The service does have a lot of "areas of opportunities" that they need to work on. Read the reviews and was worried, but the wait was just a few minutes and our server was polite, attentive, available, checked to make sure the croissants were going to be ready soon before we ordered them and let us know when our food was coming. The croissants were a yummy little appetizer! We tried their burger (meat was tasteless, but the bun was solidly good), fries (crispy, but I was expecting more for $1.99), shepherd's pie (the meat was flavorful, but the mash potatoes were barely warm), and the chicken tenders (a real hit with my son)! Went and had the chicken tender platter, a hamburger, and texas margarita. The food was good but our waiter was not very good. He was pleasant and attentive enough but just a real ding-brain. We ordered the margarita on the rocks and it came frozen. He was a young kid so we didn't have the heart to correct it. Later the hamburger came out incorrect...it was supposed to be a cheeseburger with mayo on the side. I got a hamburger without mayo. We were hungry it was late 9pm and we didn't want to wait for it to be fixed. He then wanted us to fillout a customer service survey but had like thrown it away and so we had to wait for him to dig it out all crumpled up to give to us. The food tastes great whether you are ordering honey baby back ribs, mango tilapia salsa, or the New Orleans pasta. This shows how the diverse but delicious the food is. People normally order peach tea because it tastes so good but even better is the mango peach tea--it's not specified on menu as a beverage. (It's a secret.) I usually love Cheddar's, but this location needs some work. Their food was salty compared to all the other Cheddar's I've been to. And I mean we kept trying this location at least 5 times hoping it would be like the others. The quality of their food compared to the others seems a bit off. I noticed they raised the prices a bit since I last came but I guess that's usual. I only go to Cheddar's when my family wants to eat out. Unfortunately, the last time we went, it was ridiculously loud. There was table right behind us filled to the max with high school kids. They were screaming and shaking their seats which connected to my family members' seats. This isn't much the restaurant's fault, but if you're looking for a nice and quiet place to eat out, you may want to go somewhere else. We asked if we could move to another table, but the waiter couldn't move us. I do have to say that every time I come here, I find the service to be great. I'll say that the food and service is adequate but the main reason for deserving 5 stars is because of Kenneth at the bar. Plain and simple. Even if alcohol isn't your cup of tea this guy has a great attitude always smiles and delivers. A refreshing welcome to a local restaurant. I had to request 3 times for booth seats before it finally clicked. The service is terrible. I got a dirty look from the waitress when I asked to order. The never got a refill and waitress never came-by to check on us. The manager was the only bright spot. He took the our order just to speed things up. I would have given zero stars. I went to this place 2x, and both times I went I really enjoyed myself! I think the price you pay for the food you get is really good! The first time I came here I had the chicken pot pie with fried onion rings which was delicious! When I came back here yesterday I had their ultimate nachos(needed more pico de gallo with the white sauce IMHO), sweet heat chicken & shrimp, and the chocolate croissant bread pudding! All of this was delicious and didn't make me feel like I was a glutton because the portion sizes were very well balanced!! As for the service? We decided to try this place out since we live so close and got a "Free Chicken Tenders" coupon in the mail. We were seated right away and our waiter was phenomenal! I debated whether to give 3 or 4 stars...and the service pushed me over the edge and I gave 4! Chicken Tenders - 3 stars, I've had better. They were moist, just the breading wasn't amazing or anything. Sweet Tea -- 5 stars! Done right....I haven't been to too many places that get this right, but Cheddar's does! Baby Back Ribs - 4 stars. Great flavor and fall off the bone. Really enjoyed with a side of broccoli and mac and cheese -- both sides were also good. Cheddar Club -- 3 stars. I didn't try it but my boyfriend said it was pretty good. Atmosphere -- 5 stars. Very nice and casual. Service -- 5 stars. Amazing server! Very courteous and prompt. I like Cheddar's usually and was looking forward to this meal after traveling but it was the worse experience I have had in a Cheddar's. Took a long time before we were greeted by our waitress. Our drinks (water and coffee) came out with the meal, not beforehand. Food tasted decent but my father's chicken pot pie was full of gristle. The waitress never came back to ensure food was ok. I had to hunt her down in order to get a box. She inappropriately mentioned using the bathroom. Then as we were trying to get out of the booth, she grabbed plates from the table, dropped them - which some hit my elderly father. We were just trying to leave at this point. My mother helped stack items on the table and I said something about not encouraging her to take more and this crazy waitress stood there at the table preaching bible quotes at me and proceeded to gather everything from the table. I was so upset and ready to get out of there and she just kept leaning in, touching my father's arm, preaching. I've never been more uncomfortable with a waitress as that woman. read more

Took my father to lunch here yesterday. Big mistake. I hadn't been since right after they opened a few years ago. I wasn't too impressed with the cleanliness back then but figured I'd give it another try since it is very close to where my father lives. First, as we walked in the first set of doors the floor was extremely sticky. This continued all the way through the next set of doors and to the hostess booth. It was pretty busy and very loud. Definitely not a good place to talk. I guess that was my bad for not knowing. I will say that the waitress came and took our order pretty quickly and our food came out pretty quickly for as busy as it was. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. I took the first bite of the chicken and it was very rubbery (that's the best way I can describe it). I spit it into a napkin and tried another bite. It was the same. Even at the ends where it was thin, it was rubbery. I told the waitress about it and she asked if I wanted something else. I asked if they could make it with chicken breast that was cooked all the way through. She took the salad and came back later with another. She stood over me while I tasted it, saying that she wanted to be sure it was okay. This time was worse. Instead of tasting rubbery, it was mushy. I'm not sure how you get mushy chicken breasts unless you use very low quality. She asked if she could get me anything else. At that point my father was finished with his lunch, so I declined. This was our second visit. The first visit had horrible service, but they had just opened, and were busy, so that was understandable. We came on a Wednesday night nearly months after they had opened. We waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive. We saw other people get seated, order, eat, and leave before we ever saw our food. The waiter clearly did not know the menu, which I can understand since they are all fairly new, but he argued with me over things that were clearly written in the menu. Once I showed him that my vegetable plate was supposed to come with a soup and a croissant, he finally relented. But when the meal was served, the soup and croissant were missing. The soup finally came, but the croissant never did. My fiancee ordered the beef pot roast. When it came, the "beef" looked so pale it was almost white, to the point that I thought it had to be chicken. The vegetables looked like they were raw and just thrown in at the end, and the sauce looked sickly pale as well. When we asked the waiter if that was how it was supposed to look, he told us that quite frankly they had been getting a lot of complaints about the roast. He said we would bring the manager out to look at it and address it. The manager never came and the waiter had to scramble around for quite some time just to find someone who could remove the charge for that item (we sent it back and didn't order anything else because we just didn't have another 45 minutes to wait at that point.) I used to be a waiter. To be frank, I am pretty sure I was the world's worst waiter. I am very sympathetic to every one in the food service industry, and I almost always tip a minimum of 20%. I almost never complain when things are wrong, and at most I'll just request they get me the right item when something goes missing. I do not like giving a bad review, when I know that place is mostly just very hard working young people trying to get by. And to be honest, had the manager just come out and taken the time to have a polite conversation with us, I wouldn't have taken the time to get an account and write this review. I love the Cheddar's chain, and I had high hopes for one opening in my neighborhood. But this one shows no sign of improving their service or food quality. I won't be going back. read more

Cheddars is ridiculously inexpensive for the amount of food that they serve you. For $10, a person can order an entree and have a feast. Even the alcohol drinks are inexpensive for the giant goblet they serve them in, but they are also not that strong. The restaurant offers american fare including pot pie, baby back ribs, and chicken fried steak. The food itself is actually tasty. I def recommend the honey butter croissants. They are addictive. This location is new in Sugar Land. It is located near the intersection of Highway 6 and 90. It is also close to where the new baseball stadium will be going up. So far Cheddars has average service and waiters. On the very first visit, the service was barely okay, but I am assuming its because the restaurant is new and some of the staff is working through inexperience. Since then it has improved. read more

Not understanding some of these bad reviews. This is my second time at Cheddar's, and both times were excellent experiences. The food is good, and the prices are relatively cheap. Both times I've come, I was seated right away. Both times, the servers were attentive and the food came out pretty quickly, so I definitely haven't experienced the "slow and horrible service" that many people are complaining about. First, I have to say that the Cheddar's Painkiller cocktail is amazing. As a fan of rum and pineapple cocktails with love for presentation, this drink was impressive. As for food, I got the Grilled Salmon. Your choice of grilled, blackened, or bourbon glazed, and I got bourbon glazed. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The glaze was sweet and flavorful. I came with my family, and tried the items they ordered as well. My mother got the salmon blackened, and her salmon was cooked perfectly as well. If you aren't a fan of sweet glazes, I recommended getting it blackened. As for me, I did enjoy the bourbon glaze and it was delicious with the bed of rice that comes underneath the salmon. I got the Mac & Cheese and French Fries as my two sides, and both were excellent. My father got the Baby Back Ribs, which were tender. The BBQ sauce is on the sweeter side. My brother got the Chicken Tenders Platter. The chicken tenders weren't the best I've ever had, but they were still pretty good. I like that they have little dessert shot glasses for around $1.50 each. Oftentimes with my family, it's a dilemma when we want a bite or two of dessert, but too full for an actual one. These are perfect because you can order a little personal bite of something sweet. There are three flavors: Chocolate Fudge, Key Lime, and Strawberry. The Key Lime was a bit too tangy for me, but the other two were good. I am also a FAN (har har) of the giant leaf-fan contraction thing. The decor is trendy and neat, which I prefer over the cluttered mess of Chili's decor. I do prefer Cheddar's food over Chili's as well. I'll definitely make Cheddar's a to-go option when restaurant-deciding. read more

My review is based on the food that I ordered. First of all, their staffs are really nice very friendly and accommodating. The problem start when I ordered their New Orleans pasta, the pasta is ok, the shrimp that comes with it is good, but the meat was so salty, I mean its salty. Then the food I had the cornmeal catfish it was so hard that you had to use a knife to bust through the corn meal batter the fettuccine with chicken and broccoli it came out no sauce at all we had to request a bowl of sauce so we received the bowl of sauce they gave us plastic dinner ware to eat with, no salt and pepper in the bag with the utensils I finally got tired and ask for the manager he came out and said he would check in our table which we thought would be the end the Mgr did come out to tell us bye and he did apologize I will never set foot in another cheddars in my life read more
