If you are big on top notch service then this place is definitely not for you. I went with a date and the place was not entirely full yet it took about 25-30 minutes for our food to come out. And I think there was confusion about who was taking our order since we had two waiters taking our order and such. The food is good quality for the price. I would definitely go again. The pasta is not so good. If you want great pasta, go to Olive Garden or something but not here. The ribs were great, the mash potatoes was wonderful. My family and I hardly come to this restaurant and when we go I'm reminded of why. This visit my family including my hungry 4 year old waited a nice 30+ minutes for our dinner on a Wednesday (not busy at all). The wait was caused by the waiter forgetting to put in our order in the first place. I'm a local and appreciate the surrounding restaurants. You may get a lot of customers at this location but if this service continues I'm sure this location will eventually close down! read more

I love Cheddars, but our last visit sort of made me want to pass on this particular location in the future. Our waiter was awesome and the food is always good, but honestly, they really need to get better hostesses. I think most people would like to have a warm welcome when walking into any restaurant. Unfortunately, you won't get that here. They don't greet anyone and they always look as though they are counting down the minutes until they have to go home. A little tip, if you don't enjoy being friendly and dealing with customers, don't be a hostess or work in the front of house of any restaurant. Save yourself a disappointing experience and don't go to this location. I dined in the bar this Saturday night and my experience was a series of disasters. I have never been to a cheddars before because I'm in town for work- my coworker has had plenty of positive dining experiences at other locations. 1. She's a vegetarian and they wouldn't make her a none meat pasta dish that all other locals have made for her (this dish is WHY we went there) 2. The bathroom was a disaster. Overflowing trash can. Clogged toilet. Locked stalls with no one in them.even after we informed them of the mess it was not addressed. 3. There was a hair in my fish and it definitely wasn't mine. It took them 30 minutes to remake my fish. 4. Skip the Mac n cheese it's disgusting- the green beans and cheddar broccoli casserole are with the calories 5. Our waiter was high. He was slow, forgetful and disinterested in our disappointment. He couldn't even help a vegetarian select options. He suggested the CHICKEN tortilla soup?! Really! And he forgot my drink. 6. The manager seemed even less disinterested then the waiter at our experience 7. The people behind us dropped a drink on the ground that shattered and splattered on us 8. The corner booth let their child SCREAM for over an hour- mind you we were in the BAR area of the restaurant 9. The baked dessert we ordered arrived cold... twice. And burned but cold the second time. What an effin nightmare. Would I ever eat at this establishment again? Not a chance in hell! At this moment I wish I was a professional restaurant reviewer. The spinach dip here is on my top list for best spinach dips. Hot (temperature) with enough spinach mixed in, topped with sour cream. Pico and chips...perfect dip! Anyhow, upon arriving we saw the mass of people waiting, we though we had made a wrong choice since we were so hungry. However, to our surprise we were called back in a matter of 5-10 mins even though we were told it would be 20-25 mins. Immediately we sat down, ordered drinks, I had the Belgium Fat Tire my wife had the Cheddar's Pain Killer(see pic). To start off, we had the spinach dip which is to kill for! Amazing cheesy flavor! Comes with a side of salsa as well, though we kind of ignored it for the killer spinach dip. Moving on to the entree, I had some New Orleans style pasta with crawfish tails, yummy. My wife had steak and ribs which where very well cooked. To finish we all shared the croissants which I must say, are the best things I've tried!!! So yummy and sweet goodness! So I've only been here a few times, but a couple of the members in my usual group wanted to come here so we rushed in an hour before closing. The server was very nice and made some pretty good suggestions for us, such as the blackened redfish with crab sauce. I got a Gigi's "spasagna" which,l is basically their take on a classic lasagna with spaghetti in between the sheets. The sauce and the cheese were pretty standard for a lasagna, but the pasta was very nicely cooked, which I think is sometimes tough to do when you are dealing with two kinds of pasta, but that's just imho. Since it was already late we decided to pass on dessert and get the check, which was given pretty quick. Overall the food was pretty good and the service was great too-oh but I guess I should mention that the server had given me water without taking my drink order but quickly apologized, though it was ok since I didn't feel like anything else at that time. All in all this is a pretty decent place to get foods that are made from scratch cooked and prepared for you and I wouldn't mind coming back again. read more

my boyfriend and I came in around 4:00pm on 02/21/20 And we were sat immediately , of course after being sat we waited about 15 min for a server to come. Btw it wasn't the server's fault I'm sure the hostess sat us in a closed section mind you this was right before shift change . I was about to complain , but ore server came to the table and when I tell you he was the best server we ever had in that building he was the best !!!!! Going in with my family of 14, we were greeted with excellent wait staff by way of the certified trainer named O.J. I requested to introduce myself to the head chef and Chef Gustavo came to greet me and my family. Our food order and drinks were very punctual. Mind you the restaurant was busy with multiple tables. If I could give half a star I would and the only reason for that was because I enjoyed the food. The service and all the trouble I had to go through to get to it though makes me wish 0 stars was an option. I had called on Monday to get a reservation for 15 since I had heard that this place can get packed. I was on hold for a while so the manager could be found and then I was told it would not be a problem. I was having a low key birthday dinner and had heard good things about Cheddar's, plus the location was a plus, close to most of the people. Thursday morning I called to confirm my reservation for that night only to be told that they do not take reservations. Seeing as it was less than 6 hours until the party I was obviously upset that whoever I had previously spoken to had either lied or made a mistake. When I mentioned that I had called before and was told that it would be okay they only replied that they are all trained to not take reservations. No apology, nothing. Now they tell me that since it is Thursday it shouldn't be a problem setting up a table for us as long as we have someone there 15 minutes before hand. Well at 7:15 one of my friends was there so they could get the table ready and was told it would take an hour wait! At that point I asked him to place me on the phone with the manager and I explained the situation that had happened with the reservation as well as the claims by the waitress I spoke to this morning. Now I understand that at restaurants things can be unexpected but you'd think after all that had happened they would at least try to get a table for us as soon as they could but the manager just kept asking me who I had spoken to, seeming like he didn't even believe me, and telling me that they are all trained to not take reservations. I tell him that's fine, I understand their policy and all but obviously someone was not trained well since they told me on Monday that I would be fine. He basically just tells me there's nothing I can do but wait. I get there at 7:30 and my whole party of people are just standing outside waiting. Beyond embarrassing. When we finally do get seated it's at 3 booths, at that point I really didn't care, I just wanted to get some food for my people and get out of there. Our waiter was friendly but orders were taken so that people were halfway through their entrees while some had not even had their water. As a waitress I can understand how a large group can be hard to serve though. The worst part is that the manager has the nerve to come up to my party and as me if I didn't have enough room at two booths or something because they had wanted to seat another party at our 3rd booth. So I ask him if he thinks that 15 people can fit into 2 booths, he says he can put chairs in the aisle. I was so fed up that I just told him to do whatever he felt like, I just didn't care anymore. He then tries to tell me that he's not making us move, if we're comfortable there it's fine, which was a nice gesture, UNTIL he again mentions that they had been thinking of seating another party there. So I end up with some of my friends awkwardly sticking out of the isle. When me food came the salmon was pretty good, the baby carrots a bit too sweet, and the broccoli casserole should be eaten while hot since it's a blob when cold. Food was passable nothing to brag about. The treatment however was beyond belief, in a bad way. I doubt I or any of my friends will ever be back. read more

So I'm not usually a fan of American chain restaurants like Applebee's, Chili's, etc... The prices are usually too high for the quality of food they serve. I was pleasantly surprised that Cheddars does not fit into that category. I ordered the chicken & waffles and added a caesar salad to my order. My caesar salad was good with fresh lettuce & the right amount of caesar dressing on it. I also asked for the butter croissant that comes with the salad (For some reason, it comes with the salad but the menu says you have to request for it in order to get it. Hmmm, who doesn't want fresh butter croissant??) Anyways, so I got my chicken & waffle at the same time I got my salad (Actually before my salad, but I'm saving that story for later). The chicken tender was very good...light, crispy batter on the outside & tender, juicy chicken breast on the inside. The waffle actually could have been better. They overcooked mines & I had to ask them to make me another one. And it came back......overcooked. Sigh. Overall, I would say I liked the food but now onto our service. Our service was so awful that I contemplated on asking the manager if I could get a new server. She was that bad. It seemed as if it was her first day as a server.....EVER! There were a lot of details that suggested that but I will only pinpoint on a couple of things. When I ordered my caesar salad with my entree, she asked if I wanted them both at the same time. What??? No, I said. But somehow, that did not processed through her newly trained server brain & she brought it out at the same time anyways. So after I asked her why she did that, she blamed it on the kitchen timing. Whatever. I enjoyed the fresh butter croissant so much that I asked if I could get more. She replied that the restaurant ran out. Man, I was disappointed to hear that. UNTIL I saw the other server for the table next to us bring some out to their table. And I asked my server again, "How come you said you guys are out but the table next to us got some?" Instead of saying she would go check it out for me, she replied, "Those were the last ones." Again, disappointed. UNTIL another plate of croissants came out for another table near us! So I'm starting to suspect that my server was a liar & asked for a manager. And guess what fellow yelpers? There were still some croissants left & I got some. No thanks to my dishonest, lazy server. I really liked the food here & would come back despite the horrible service I've received. Drinks took 15 to get ordered and another to get delivered we had to ask more than twice to get refill because our waiter never checked on us. He brought a bottle of A sauce that was empty and never masked if everything was good... My chicken pot pie showed up after all the others were served and was undercooked and cold so I had to wait another 20 minutes to get my dinner we were there a total of of two hours and while we waited 20 for dessert we had to stare at our dirty plates because apparently our waiter is too good to clear a table.... Very disappointed! All the hype of croissants? I don't get it. They are good but are drenched with some kind of sugar laced, sweet butter. As we arrive, we are informed that they are no longer free because they are so popular -huh- If this is one of the draws to your business and now you go away from your business concept? Half pound Jalapeno Burger, when it came out it looked more like a quarter pound burger with 2 heavily battered and fried jalapeno slices (yes 2) had to ask for the tomato(was not on the plate) Half a slab of ribs (although tasty) they were no more than a quarter of a slab of ribs (4 ribs) Loaded baked potato. smallest I have seen a a restaurant in years(about half the size of a fist) asked for only butter and bacon bits and they charged extra for the bacon bits (thimble size) and they forgot the butter. Tilapia was not tilapia, maybe white fish or something else, it was not tilapia. Red beans and rice were so spicy hot that I could net eat. At least 2 of us went to bed and woke up feeling ill, could only be there food, was not feeling this way when we arrived. We won't be rushing back here anytime soon. Service was horrible!!!! Three tables, including ours, waited over an hour for our food. As it was our lunch hour, we finally had to ask for the food to be boxed to go. That process took another 25 minutes and then several items were left out! The food was awful. Avoid the chicken fried steak unless you really like half of it to be breading and dry as the Sahara! I considered bringing it home for my dog to use as a raw hide toy! The manager showed little empathy towards our problems, but eventually, comped our meal. Went to this Cheddars for the first time since they opened in Sugar Land. Majorly disappointing! Ordered the chicken fried steak. It was the worst I have EVER eaten. The knife couldn't even cut through the steak! Moreover, I had a stomach ache after getting home. I asked Manager Mike why my food was not made right and he said that item is a slow goer and they r trying to improve. Well, it was on my expense. Our server was a nice young girl, but i think the staff need better training overall. Bad food, bad furniture. I've always heard a lot of my co workers & friends talk about cheddars having good food & drinks at reasonable prices... Finally enjoying a day off from the restaurant life myself, I decided to go with my best friend to enjoy a nice drink & bite to eat... walked in to turned backs of hostess & servers as they held a conversation... we told them we will just sit in the bar area.. it then took 13 minutes to get acknowledged by a server (while over 3 passed us by) who recently sat 2 older women after asking us if we've been helped & saying he'd grab us menus, I ordered a drink... that the server forgot about as my best friend asked if that was my drink sitting at the bar counter melting, I then ordered the trio appetizer.. only to have it come out AFTER my best friend & the 2 older women started eating their food... My trio came with Salsa sliding onto my chips & EXTRA sour cream on my spinach dip instead of none.. I told the server that it was made wrong, the server apologized & said that he had to fuss with the kitchen just to get my appetizer out... So in other words...my server SIDIQUE felt that is was still appropriate to give me my order late & wrong.. assuming I'd scoop out the sour cream, BUT I'M ALLERGIC! I just asked for a to go container & paid as my friend bagged it for me (I'll give it to someone that'll eat it) I then asked to speak to a manager, SIDIQUE said he told the manager, yet the manager stalled for 25 minutes rather than dealing with an unsatisfied customer!!! As my best friend headed to her car, she seen the manager holding amusing convos with the workers as she reminded him that I waited over 25 minutes for him & counting... & he acted puzzled. It wasn't until I told him that I TOO work in the restaurant & gave examples of how quickly my job resolve guest complaints was when he started to listen.. he offered to remake the food right, after a little over 1 1/2 hours of walking into the door, at this point I didn't want food remade or anything, I've LOST MY APPETITE DUE TO YOU GUYS BEING SO UNPROFESSIONAL, & my job at shake shack WOULD NEVER!!! I was a bit weary coming to this location after reading so many negative reviews regarding their service, but for less than $10, I was able to overlook our space cadet of a waitor. Update: I guess my theory of a place being good only the beginning is starting to become true. Cheddars was my place to dine late at night since other places close at 9 or 10. My previous visit to Cheddars made me decide to reduce my rating of 4 stars to 3. My friend and I ordered the smokehouse burger and lets say it didn't come with the crispy onion rings in it that makes it better than most burgers. I asked my waiter to get me some and he told me that it does not come with it. I'm a regular and I know what it has and does not have, also the menu clearly states it has crispy onion rings. The waiter responded and said oh you're right, I'll go ask. Luckily I was watching, he walked away for 2 seconds and came back telling me that they ran out. What a bad liar. He didn't even want to compensate the missing onion rings even if it were true. I personally hate liars and that made me decide I will never dine in there again. Old post: I always hesitate to order to go but keep in mind that you will have to wait for 20-30 minutes for just 1 meal (to go). I ordered 3 burgers one time to go and I waited an hour. Wasted my time there and they did not even apologize for the wait or offered a drink which they usually do while I'm waiting. I've only been here about 4-5 times and pretty much the only thing I order is the smokehouse burger which is $4.99 by itself and the Ultimate Lunch Combo: choose two - for $5.99: Bowl of Soup/House Salad/Loaded Baked Potato/Half of Double Decker Club/ Caesar Salad, I get the bowl of soup and half of double decker club. The Club is actually a little salty for me due to the ham. I find these cheap and delicious. I tried the chicken tenders once and it was good but I thought it was a bit too oily and flavorless and I also got the steak which I thought was flavorless and overcooked also, I asked for medium rare, I got it completely cooked. The only problem that I find with this place is the wait. It is unbelievably packed sunshine or not. What I do though is ask to sit in the bar, I always get seated immediately. They also have couches there which is very cozy and some what romantic because of the dim light. Its more quiet which is what I usually go for, no point in going somewhere noisy if you can't even hear yourself talk. Staff is very nice, I haven't had a problem with any of them. I know and love Cheddar's from going to the one in College Station. Expecting the same quality and service, I was disappointed in a few things but pleased with others. The service was fantastic, and the waiter knew about gluten free options when I asked (I am allergic) and he got the manager to double check my food would be prepared correctly. I ordered the 8 oz. center cut top sirloin with sides of steamed broccoli and a baked potato for a very good value! I also ordered the Maui Margarita and my boyfriend got the regular margarita. We were not impressed with our drinks. Mine was WAY WAY WAY too sweet and I couldn't taste the Patron that I paid extra for. My boyfriend's margarita was drowning in sweet and sour. Comparing them to the quality drinks we would receive at the College Station Cheddar's, these were more than unsatisfactory. We couldn't even finish them. On a more positive note, my steak was perfectly cooked and juicy. The broccoli was fresh and nicely steamed, with a slight crispness to it and a deep green color. The baked potato was good... Your basic baked potato with butter cheese and sour cream, although I had to ask for chives and bacon bits, because they came on the potato at the CS Cheddar's. My boyfriend said his chicken fingers and fries were good, but lacking something.
