My group and I arrived within 30 minutes of Cheddar's opening on a Sunday morning. We were seated immediately and our server came over and got our drink orders. With it being so early the restaurant was basically empty other than 2 other small groups of people. I ordered the cajun shrimp pasta and I really enjoyed it. There wasn't much spice but that's to be expected from a place like this. I was disappointed that they did not carry red pepper flakes or have any hot sauce that I could use to up the spice level of my food. The strawberry lemonade was tasty with a hint of tartness but their water had an odd aftertaste. Not sure if that's a Tampa thing or if their filter needed to be cleaned or changed. Food came out hot and quick, but our waitress was kind of nowhere to be found after the server dropped off our dishes. We had to flag down another waitress for drink refills and napkins. Three workers were at the check in and kept talking amongst themselves when we entered. One finally addressed us and took us to our table. We popped in here on a whim after an event we attended near by we were a little apprehensive about going because it was so close to closing time but decided to give it a try and were not disappointed. Hands down the service alone gets 5 stars the food was ok for me but that's because I went against what I usually get and tried the steak I don't recommend it. The waitress was so funny and in good spirits considering it was within one hour of closing and a holiday. She was fast and accommodating as much as she could. The food came out hot and good. The only issue was that since it was close to closing they said they didn't have certain toppings and ingredients but that wasn't called out at the time we placed the order. I have never been that fond of Cheddars in the past... but tonight decided to try them again. I have been craving a chicken fried steak with gravy... and was too lazy to make it myself. So off I went. I had called and was told they did not have a waitlist, and I arrived about 10 minutes later. Was seated immediately. I was brought one of the honey butter croissants and found it to be ok... no lamination, not a real croissant... more like Pillsbury dough. Seemed a bit underbaked also... no browning to the crust. I ordered the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and subbed a side salad for some green stuff. Salad arrived very quickly, and was good... and I finished it. I was hungry as I had been fasting all day for a medical procedure... so it did not last long. Chicken fried steak showed up, and was a thing of beauty. Gorgeous crust all around, nice portion size and covered with gravy. Very crispy and tasty crust, nice tender beef... it was good. Gravy? Ehh... bland, not much flavor. Mashed potatos, ok... but again, the gravy was not that great. They serve the steak on a thick piece of Texas toast... I pulled that out and did not eat it. It was toasted pretty dark, and was very dry and crunchy... not what I expect from Texas toast. But this was my best Cheddars experience to date... and I would order the chicken fried steak again... minus the toast, and ask for double gravy. Server was wonderful... on point, and very attentive. Well after the filet not being a filet we went to the Carrollwood Chedders. I don't eat the fish or shrimp because they are from Asian farms. I thought I would try the ribs and chicken and they were out of ribs at 2:00 pm. I resorted to chicken tender salad. Always a disappointment going to any Cheddars. read more

Came here tonight for dinner. Hadn't been to one since 2011. I asked if they had a special gluten free menu since some restaurants carry them, and surprisingly they did. I had a water and my friend had a sweet tea. I was able to order the Keywest chicken and shrimp. But I took off the pineapple pico and bourbon glaze because the gluten allergy. I also made the shrimp grilled. I ordered southern green beans and a house salad sans all ingredients but lettuce, carrots, and balsamic vinaigrette. The chicken came on a bed of rice. The salad, chicken, and shrimp were good. But the rice was mushy and flavorless. The southern green beans were also not really good in flavor either. My friend ordered the Dijon chicken and mushrooms with a buttered potato, he also didn't like his rice. Otherwise it was good to eat for the main proteins and salad. Giaanna, our server was Spectacular! My food was trash. I ordered the NEW ORLEANS PASTA, it was NOT even close. Maybe a New Hampshire Pasta. Chicken was a shredded clumpy mess, the sausage was barely cooked and the onions were front the outer layer that goes in the trash. Not to mention that it needed GARLIC AND SALT!! I really wish I could put zero stars. We ordered takeout last night, my order was grilled salmon with double broccoli. Upon starting to eat I look down and notice something that doesn't look right in my broccoli. It's green but has some white cotton around it. I come to discover that it is a caterpillar! Refusing to believe it I inspect more and find ANOTHER ONE! This is the most DISGUSTING experience I have ever had. A hair in your food is gross but this is a whole other level. This was my wife and I's first time visiting this Cheddar's location. We love Cheddar's and it's comfort food for us. We have the things we like and we stick with them. Craving some restaurant food. We hit this location up. It wasn't super busy but it was still early evening, around 530pm. We were sat and it took a good minute for our server to come around. Once he did, we got everything. My wife ordered her go-to Chicken Caesar salad, without the pasta. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Not my usual, but was feeling something different. We always order the spinach dip as an appetizer. Our free serving of the delectable honey butter croissants came out and were excited for these. Unfortunately, they weren't fresh at all. They were not hot. They were room temperature and crunchy. Not soft and gooey. They were ok and we ate them but disappointed for sure. Then the spinach dip came out. It was good. As expected with the crispy, salty chips. They did leave out the salsa that usually comes with the dish. We would have asked for it but our server never came back around before we finished the spinach dip and most of the chips. Another disappointment. Our meals came out and they were decent. My wife enjoyed her salad and it had a good amount of chicken and dressing on it. My burger was tasty but it was super greasy. The bacon was a little fatty and rubbery so half of it got removed. I got the side of broccoli cheese casserole. I enjoyed that a lot. Next time, I'll stick with my usual though and leave the burgers to places that specialize in them. We never really saw our server again. A manager brought out our food and refilled our drinks. I had the strawberry lemonade and it was refreshing. What can I say.... you really can't go wrong with Cheddar's. It's definitely one of my favorite places to go to. And its conveniently close to home. If my husband is satisfied it must be good. His steak was cooked to perfection according to him. That rarely happens unless he cooks it himself. The portions are always so amazingly big. It seems like the law of averages has finally taken over at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Carrollwood. My first experience with the casual dining chain was about a year ago and I remember walking away impressed that they had such good quality food, that was not only tasty, but offered at an affordable price. Maybe we were just hungry when we went the first time, but nothing has eclipsed that visit. We've been a few times since then, occasionally adding it to our rotation when in the area. We kept going for all of the reasons listed above, and because they were a better alternative than the other corporate competitors that offer similar fare. Every time I go, my favorite thing to do is act like I'm stuck in the spinning glass entrance door. It drives my kids crazy, and I'm sure the staff has seen this gimmick far too many times to laugh...but I don't care. Whee!! Last night we paid another visit. We sat down and I noticed right away that they had changed their menu since our most recent visit. My beloved pork chops that I endeared once before were now ominously missing. Our server informed me that they had just changed the menu recently, and that they do that every few months. Ok, I get it. I'll try something different then. I ordered the New Orleans Pasta. Shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, peppers, onions and penne pasta tossed in spicy homemade Cajun Alfredo sauce and served with garlic toast. Sounds good. The problem with this dish though was its identity crisis. Is it a pasta dish? Is it Jumbalaya? Nobody knows!! For the record, I like spicy, especially Cajun. Ultimately, too much seasoning killed this one for me. There were only three slices of sausage included in my serving and it made me wonder how well the pot was stirred. My girlfriend ordered the 8oz Top Sirloin Steak. She asked to substitute the rice for potatoes and was told that it would be an up-charge because rice was "a garnish". What? A quick glance at the menu shows rice on their menu as a side, but whatever. She asked for the steak to be cooked rare, but it came mid-well, which was disappointing. My daughter ordered her usual Monte Cristo. It came a little over-cooked as well, but she didn't seem to care. She managed to put down three slices of it while sneaking glances at her cell phone. Typical. I'm not even sure she tasted it. Our server was very nice, and our drinks remained full, but she seemed to get lost while we were wanting to pay the check. I'm not saying that we never coming back again, but we're going to give this spot a break for awhile. A note to the restauranteur: Please add the pork chops back to the menu and knock it off with this Cajun nonsense. Here is a Pro Tip: Cheddar's gives back 10% of your bill as an Uber credit when you pay with your registered Visa card (the same card that you use to pay for your Uber rides). I was pleased when I received a pop-up notification on my phone stating that a few dollars had been added to my Uber account. If you use Uber, or Uber Eats, you should be definitely be taking advantage of the many restaurants that offer this deal. Check your Uber app for more details. read more

10/10 Haven't been to a cheddars in YEARS and the whole family was so happy with our late lunch! Between the waitress being the best and our food being fantastic we really have zero complaints! Husband had the monte cristo, kids had chicken tenders, corn & fries, and I had the pasta Cesar salad with crispy chicken instead of grilled and a side of ranch! (My absolute fav) The spinach dip & you can't forget the buttery croissants to start are heavenly - and the painkiller & watermelon freeze was delicious!
