Vibrant, welcoming, bustling, great energy, with seats available on a Saturday at 5pm... and, hear me when I say this: it was happy hour! Yes! On Saturday! They do it every day (EVERY!) here, from 4-7... and open to close on Wednesday. And the drink choices were amazing... martinis, craft cocktails, wine, beer, YOWZA! The little bar menus were spectacular! So many great choices. I'm going to have to get to work on this! I owe it to myself to try it all. Then, there's the real menu! The friends and I have got to meet here, next time. You can dine in the big bar area (so many high tops!), in the main dining room, or one of the two (!) outdoor dining areas. So I normally enjoy Grillsmith but the last few visits have not been good for me. I ordered the wings the last two visits and both times asked for my wings to be extra crispy and both times I got soggy (not extra crispy) wings. I'm also upset they changed the crab cake recipe and now only offer a fried crab cake. The previous one was pan seared and delicious not sure why this wasn't left on the menu. I do enjoy a rotating menu but hate when stuff is taken off the menu that is good! Service is always great at this location and I highly recommend visiting on a Wednesday when it is all day happy hr! Came in with family in celebration of hubs birthday. Seated quickly and service was good. Friendly staff. Server was quite busy managing several tables so a bit slow but he was attentive and checked on us every time he passed by. I got the bourbon salmon salad which was absolutely delicious. I've been to Grillsmith more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. When I'm flying solo, I usually head straight for the bar--always a good vibe and plenty of space. There's a side entrance tucked away on the quieter side of the parking lot that feels like my own secret way in. It's always open, always welcoming. Service is consistently friendly and fast. Tonight, Bobby was holding it down behind the bar--great energy, super attentive. I went with the Voodoo Shrimp this time, skipping the complimentary breadsticks (which are solid, but the shrimp come with toasted garlic crostinis). If you're looking for recommendations, the blackened wings or the Bourbon Salmon Salad are both staples for me. Past visits have also delivered big with the Lemon Feta Chicken, the Grillsmith burger and of course their killer pork chops. Chef really knows how to balance flavor and presentation. Sucks to see the negative reviews. So here's an honest one that's positive. After a quick 10-minute wait on a busy Saturday night we were seated. Quick drink service. Tasty complimentary bread sticks. Ordered the port wine filet and the 16oz ribeye. Both steaks perfectly cooked to temp. Balsamic green beans were the chefs veg and tasty! The au gratin potatoes are definitely worth the $2.5 up charge as it was seriously creamy and delicious. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was great. At first I wasn't going to make another review since I recently reviewed but I truly couldn't miss the opportunity to share this unique experience. As always the food was fantastic but surprisingly we had quite a few issues this dining experience. For instance, Our wings were not tossed in the sauce we asked and once the server brought our plate back out it looked as if they just poured the sauce on top vs tossing it. We also had some slight issues with our entrees and timeliness of our drinks but that's not why I am here. It's important that Grillsmith team knows while our experience started as a 2/3 star experience because of their hospitality our experience was completely turned around. I have to give a shoutout to Justin the manager here who ensured to make that happen, I felt valued by this business and its leadership . The mood did not change or the staff and Justin specifically came back twice to check in. I hope other restaurants take note that just because your costumer has a few issues during their experience, if you show them you value their time and money you can absolutely turn things for the better. The last thing a costumer should leave feeling is bad and while I have had that experience, never at Grillsmith. They treat costumer's like family. Of course we will be back! read more

This was my first time coming here! I drive past this restaurant all of the time but today I decided to try their happy hour. They have good specials that include food and beverages. Another fantastic experience at the Grillsmith. It's a busy Friday night. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table, which was wonderful. Sat by the bar and enjoyed all of the vibrant life around the bar as well as the TVs. My husband always orders a steak here it was perfectly cooked. Terrible experience. We requested a salad thinking that was a safe option and indicated to the server that there was a gluten allergy. Double checked when the salad was served and they said it was safe. My daughter started feeling sick as we walked out of the restaurant. My husband and I both ordered burgers. His had a bunch of sticks in the middle which he almost choaked on. We came to realize they must have put the toothpick in upside down. My burger was cold. We've eaten there very often in the past and always had a great experience. The last couple of times were not very good but this last experience takes the cake! This was my first visit back to Grillsmith since the renovations, and I'm happy to say the food was excellent. Two of us ordered the burgers, which were compact, juicy, and served on a soft brioche bun. I opted for a wedge salad instead of fries, and it was delicious. Another in our group enjoyed the chicken marsala, while someone else ordered two small plates--the tuna and the voodoo shrimp--both of which were excellent. The only downside was our seating choice. We sat in a booth near the kitchen, which was a bit bright and noisy. While I understand the open-kitchen concept, next time I'll choose a table or booth away from that area for a more relaxed atmosphere. Our server Chrystal was amazing and well knowledgeable about the menu, we followed her recommendations and we tried the Chicken Milanese, the Grouper and the Carbonara pasta. We got an 8 top at 6:30pm on a Saturday night with only a 15 minute wait. The two hostesses were very friendly and had great senses of humor. They started off a great evening with friends and family. Our waitress, Kaitlyn, was amazing. She had a super fun personality. She fit right in with us as family. She was accommodating, gave great suggestions, was very attentive, was quick, knew the menu and food very well, and it just felt like we had known her for years. GrillSmith did a huge remodel and was closed for a long time and I've been back several times since the remodel. It's always a solid choice, especially if you're going with someone who's tastes you don't quite know . Grillsmith takes reservations, which I recommend on the weekends at least. 7PM will have you waiting for a table if you haven't. The bar makes really good drinks and at really good prices for Tampa. The Smoked Old Fashioned is our favorite OF in Tampa and the price is RIGHT. For entree, I usually get the wedge salad and add a protein or I get the burger, which is delicious! The servers are always very nice and attentive. I also appreciate the seasonal menu that rotates now and then. Those items are usually fun and taste good. Grillsmith is a good choice to please everyone in your party, a great place to pop in on a weekday you don't feel like cooking or just want a good drink at the bar.
