First time eating here and I ordered takeout.I ordered the pork chop with mashed potatoes no gravy and green beans. The pork chop was very small, not like the photo that they show on their advertising. Not too much flavor and a little chewy. The mashed potatoes were great, however they put gravy on it so I only could eat the bottom portion since I don't like gravy, and the green beans were really good. I might try again and get something different,because the service was great. She brought it out to my car because I had my dogs in the car. read more

So-so overall. The food was decent but forgettable. Very nice outside patio and the one staff member we encountered was nice and attentive. But- we were charged $14 + 2.50 for kids menu chicken tenders and drink, ordered off kids menu by my 8 yr old child- menu states $8 with drink included. The food, drinks and the friendly service is all amazing! We try to have dinner at this cute place there once a week, highly recommend the ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. We were looking forward to some good southern food. Considerations- hard for business's during the pandemic I understand this completely and this business was really effected. They are still open however the owners are doing all of the legwork. The food was simple, the wings were ok fresh, beet salad was good. Eat here find out for yourself how you feel about this restaurant. I would like for this place to thrive For me the food lacked seasoning the salad didn't have dressing on it not sure why? Great new place in Lutz. I've been several times and love the diversity of the menu. Surprisingly there are gluten free options and the staff is great. The beet/goat cheese salad is not something I would typically order, but it's a standard for me now. The garlic:/buffalo wings are a winner. I also had a great special of the day, chicken breast smothered in a fondue sauce that blew my mind. You could have convinced me I was eating at an upscale restaurant. I wish this new place well and I'll be bringing friends for sure. I know it's new but there are two areas of needed improvement. First, the iced tea needs serous help. Two times I ordered tea it was like someone had never brewed tea before. As a southern restaurant, this should be a staple. The other area of improvement is the decor. Make it homey please. The inside has absolutely no personality and many remarked the same thing. IHOP style tables and TVs on the wall doesn't do the location or the menu justice. It was such a pleasure to come to this nice restaurant since COVID made it so difficult in the past to meet up with friends. A very nice open area with outdoor seating. We were promptly greeted and seated and drink orders taken. There is a nice selection of beer and wine. The menu has many southern choices and food is cooked as described. The salads were fresh and crisp. The pork chops were cooked to order per my friends request. The pork and greens were just awesome with a touch of spice to the greens. The chicken was crispy and those sweet potato fries were to die for. The atmosphere is so friendly and there is entertainment on the weekends. My husband and I absolutely LOVE coming to Southern Eaze. From the first time we visited, we have truly felt like family there. Matthew, Sandi, Miss Bridgett, everyone is amazing. Absolutely the worst experience we've ever had eating breakfast. The place opened for business (breakfast) at 9am. We walked in around 9:05 am. The place was empty. The whole time we there was literally two tables occupied. We order the 2/2/2 breakfast. The had no orange juice. The had no coffee except for a keurig. The waiter brought two cups of coffee that were half full and told us that's all they had. We waited 55 minutes for our food and the waiter said they were having problems with the eggs. We got the French toast and each plate had one piece of bread cut in half. One piece! That's not two pieces of French toast. The food was very bland. I can't believe this place stays open. Chill neighborhood-zoned restaurant with BBQ and other southern stuff. Had pulled pork and chorizo sausage. The pulled pork wasn't pulled, might as well have been mini-pork chops, which I wasn't too jazzed about. The chorizo sausage, however, was possibly the best I've ever had. It was prepared in a way I've never had before, where it was bi-sected and ground up, and served almost like a patty. Maybe it's a common thing, I dunno man. They don't get too much traffic it seems, but the one waiter running around serving the few occupied tables there kicked ass. Definitely coming back. read more

First time eating their food. Came in for pickup. Asked about dressing for salad, was told it was on it. Got home and salad was dry. My pulled chicken had no BBQ sauce. So......I called. I was told that they only lightly drizzle some vinegar on the salad. She also said she should have given me some BBQ sauce. This server had 2 people in the whole place. On the phone, she did not apologize nor really gave a rats rear!! I said, not sure that makes me want to come back, to which she replied, Goodbye! The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was mediocre, at best. I ordered the wings and baked beans; my husband ordered a sausage sandwich and cole slaw. I received wings, baked beans, and coleslaw; my husband received nothing. After waiting a reasonable period of time, we alerted our server that my husband hadn't received his order. They checked with the kitchen and reported back that there was a problem with their ordering system and the kitchen hadn't received the order. We waited again and during this time the hostess informed my husband he would receive a free cole slaw for his trouble. Finally his order arrived and we finished the meal. When the bill arrived we had been charged for two cole slaws. At that point we paid the bill and left. We won't return. read more

Wow. I was so hopeful. We have been here 2 times now. First time was maybe a 2 star visit, food was OK but there was a what appeared to be an intoxicated guy making a scene. We later found out it was the owner or owners husband or something. So we ended up leaving. We went back again and we figured it couldn't get worse, but it did. Food was horrible and as Clark Howard use to describe it (Customer No-Service). I completely understand labor shortage a d stuff but when the employees would rather be on their phones and or talk to there favorite tables while you wait for your beer and to order food. It was 17 minutes from the time that we walked in until we got our drinks. Oh and maybe 8 people including us in the restaurant. This one I would say not even worth a try. Sorry but too many good restaurants out there. read more

Have been going to southern eaze for over a year now. They make everyone feel like family when walking in. Servers are nice and attentive checking in and making sure everything is always to our liking. Along with the great food and service they offer many weekly events to get together and unwind. Trivia on Thursday nights are always a crowd pleaser and great casual breakfast spot to stop by on weekends. Would highly recommend southern eaze to any of my friends and family! read more

This place is small but cute. I went with a large group of about 16 which they accommodated in two long tables beside each other. The service was pretty bad so, for just two to four people you will probably be ok but this place can NOT handle anything bigger than a four top. Our waiter was acting like a clown, mugging and dancing with the patrons, talking at the bar with the "regulars"? I guess..... Drinks were slow in coming and the kitchen just could not cook the food fast enough. Each dinner came out several minutes apart so that the people who got their dinner first were done eating when the last dinners arrived and all dinners were "auctioned off" by the clown waiter. He had no clue who ordered what. Unfortunately, there were about 4 dinners that never made it to the table...even though the owner was informed, she really couldn't do anything about the clown waiter, the slow drinks, or the slow kitchen...she tried to help but, it did seem she was more interested in mingling with the crowd that was there....my drink wasn't what I ordered and my appetizer, the Fried Pickles, though hot and delicious, ultimately took an hour and a half to get to me and I had to ASK for it again after that hour and a half....it just slipped through the clowns mind I guess.... If you have 3-4 hours to blow on dinner and drinks, you will be fine. Otherwise , avoid Southern Eaze, cause it sure ain't easy........ read more

I really want to like this place. They're local, independently owned, and support live music. Unfortunately, the food and service are inconsistent at best. Tonight it was non-existent. There was only one server who was too busy talking to her friends to even wait on us. If she had been busy waiting on other people, it would have been understandable, but she just wasn't doing her job. After about 15 minutes, we just left. Very disappointing . read more

We discovered this place by accident and did not have time to stop. We made a point of going back for a meal to give it a try. Turns out, it was a good decision. Initial impression was that is was clean and bright. Outdoor dining area was clean as well. We sat inside and was promptly greeted with a smile. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and offered several suggestions when asked. We started with a Brussel Sprout appetizer. It had a garlic and herb aioli that was delicious. Our 10 year old was almost ready to fight to get the last one. My wife had the ribs and they did not disappoint. Fall off the bone and the smoke flavor and rub was on point. I had the Southerneaze Grilled Pork Chops with Onion Gravy. Those were moist and delicious. Had a side of the baked beans and those were a treat. Had bits of pulled pork in the beans. Made for great flavor. I would have liked it spicier, but I added to it for my tastes. Sorry for not posting pics, but we ate too quick. This place is a hidden gem that we hope stays around a while. This was my second time at this restaurant and it will be my last. The server was the absolute worst in server history. He claims he worked in NYC but I don't think he could get a hot dog order right. He was lackadaisical about taking drink orders, got the food orders all wrong. 25% of the people in our group never got their food. We were there for 2 hours and some left without being fed. The worst thing is that both owners were present in the restaurant and did NOTHING to correct the problem. I spoke to 1 owner 3 times and nothing improved. The second owner came to me and admitted that the server never put the food ticket in with the kitchen!! Additionally he got the bills mixed up and was handing out bills for incorrect food. Totally unacceptable for a Friday evening!!! Food was mediocre at best!! Overcooked, burnt and dry!! Skip this restaurant!!! read more
