I had eaten at this Cheddar's many times before & the food has always been good, & the service had been adequate. My most recent the hostess left me standing to go in search of a server to take me to my table. That accomplished, I was seated & my order taken. Ticket time was not excessively long, & the food that arrived was good. The waiter delivered my food & never returned! I finished my meal& was ready for my check, but he was nowhere to be found. When I finally located him, it still took quite a while to get my check, & even longer to receive my change! I was generous in giving them three stars, & that was only because the food was good! I thought I'd walk in from Hampton Inn sit at the bar, have a beer and order take out I had to ask the bartender for a beer... there was no one sitting at the bar. I've eaten at Cheddar's (albeit other locations) before, and so my expectations were appropriately set. Best thing I can say about this Valdosta location was that the waitress was attentive and did her job well. Everything else I hang on management, and I'm not sure if this Valdosta location is a franchise or corporate, but that does not really matter (does it). Here is my list, read into it what you will: 1) Upon arriving (9:30 - 10:00 PM) Friday evening, more than an hour before closing time, we noticed all outside lights (including the sign were turned off). We asked why the lights were all off and mentioned that it was very dark out front. 2) We were told the lights are on a timer, they were not sure how to change it, and no one cared that the lights were off. 3) The place was a mess. I mean most tables were empty but dirty with dishes and the floor was covered with dropped food and trash. You would have thought they had just finished hosted a drunken 8-yo birthday party. It was bad. 4) Ordered a a simple gin martini with a lemon twist, and received something in a martini glass with a lemon wedge squeezed and dropped into it. Just nasty. The manager apologized and offered to remake it, only to return 20 minutes later to inform us they were out of that (Hendricks) gin "now". We stuck with water. 5) Cesar salads ... OMG! I do not know what kind of plastic bucket that dressing came from, but it was just gross ... and not a little bit. It was thick, pasty, and splattered on top of some form of mostly wilted green leaves. 6) Salmon ... Overdone in the extreme, slathered with something, not sure what. Also gross. As I said, I have eaten at other Cheddars and I know what I should be expecting. But something is seriously wrong with the Valdosta, GA location. Suggest corporate inspect. read more

I have to admit we were a little leery about going here after reading some of the reviews. However, since we are a fan of some of the other cheddars that we visit around the country, we figured we'd give it a try anyway. We were not disappointed. The girls at the front desk were very cheerful and friendly. Our waiter was quick to respond and quick to deliver. Our food was hot and delicious and delivered in record time. A really pretty restaurant, even if it is a chain. The honey butter croissant rolls are wonderful. The chips and queso was better than I anticipated but it took twenty plus minutes to get it. Our server was efficient but the kitchen left out items and was awfully slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy at all when we got there.The Monte Cristo sandwich was a hit and my steak was cooked a perfect medium. We placed an order tonight for curbside take out. I ordered the fish and chips, my wife ordered chicken tenders. The pickup was supposed to be ready 25 minutes. We arrived at the pickup time and noticed very few people. There were no other customers at curbside the entire time. After waiting 15 minutes after the pickup time, I went in to check on the order; the hostess said they were waiting on the baked potato for the chicken tenders. I back to the car and waited 12 more minutes, totaling almost a half hour past the original pickup time. Not one person came out at any point to let us know the status of our order. We witnessed several staff members outside smoking though. When we arrived back at our hotel, we untied the bag to discover the potato was shriveled and felt like rubber( just like if you microwave one too long). A microwaved potato only takes 8 minutes, they must have overcooked about 3 of them based on the time it took to get our food. We also noticed that they forgot the ranch dressing for the chicken tenders (on the receipt) and the croissants that come with every meal. That's annoying, albeit minor. They also forgot the chips that come with the fish and chips, but put the ketchup packs in for good measure...had to use the ketchup on the rubber potato since the "loaded" condiments were also missing. What is not a minor issue and probably obvious from the beginning of this review is that all the food was cold, except the rubber potato. I would normally call the manager to "fix" the issue but we don't have a Cheddar's where we live, and we were starving, so we ate what we had. Just beware this location has issues. I understand that they had just reopened after the covid restrictions and there were not many other places open for lunch on a Sunday in Valdosta, but I have to say it was only a 3 star experience. There was a 30 min wait for lunch (I understand that the restaurant was at a limited capacity as per the rules) but once we were sat in the bar area, the service was spotty and our server frequently would disappear and we couldn't get what we needed. The salmon and chicken were both very dry. The best part was the Cheddar and Broccoli rice. I know Cheddars overall can do better, and may be because of the re-opening, but recommended a little more staff training. read more

I called Cheddar's today to place an order for pickup we were already near by, when the lady answered she said hold on let me transfer you to someone who can take your order, I waited and waited, by this time we had already pulled into the parking lot, it was around 11:30 AM so it was not that busy yet, no-one NEVER picked up the phone to take my order so we walked into the restaurant to place the order! I asked a lady where to go to place a to go order she directed me to the left, bar side to place the order, again we waited and waited, we saw a lot of employees walking to the back but no one NEVER asked to help us!!! So we tried calling to place an order and went into the restaurant to try and place an order no one NEVER offered to help us so after standing there for a while looking stupid we walked out!!! Wish I would have checked Yelp before I ate here. I was traveling on business and Cheddars was a stone throws away from my hotel so I walked over. I had the bone in ribeye, ordered mid rare and came out rare which I could live with. Steak was 50% gristle and fat, so basically an 8oz steak minus bone, gristle and fat. Sides were small for the price, however very tasty. I wanted fries but was told fryer was inop so opted for mashed potatoes with gravy. Service was good and I hold no contempt for my server. While the food was very good, the service had a lot to be desired. I walked in at 9:05 pm (they close at 11pm) and there was no one at the hostess stand. Since they were pretty full in the main section, I assumed maybe the host/hostess was seating another party. Nope, not at all. I did see about 4 employees standing near the back all talking to each other. I just stood there patiently while two more parties walked in behind me, of course also waiting. Those 4 employees kept looking our way and when we made eye contact, they looked the other way. After about 3 times this happening, one of then finally played hostess. She turned out to be my server. I knew what I wanted (come to Cheddars frequently, however first time to this location). When she sat me, there was no silverware in bin. I received my food and water with still no silverware nor straw. The person who brought me my food went to retrieve that. 4 minutes later, the food runner arrived with my items. About 5 minutes later, I see my server bringing me my roll. I ran out of my beverage pretty quick however I didn't see my server for about 15 minutes later. There was no one else sitting in my section. When she did come over, she brought me a to go box even though I was only half way done with my food. That is when I asked for my water refill (she had not realized that during this time). Finished my dinner, which again was very good, had the Dijon Chicken, and she brought the check. read more

Visited Cheddar's for dinner tonight and the place smelled dirty and musty when we walked in the door. My wife has Celiac and the advertise a gluten free menu so we stayed. The entire experience was terrible. From the dirty silverware to the slow service. Our sever disappeared for long periods. The sweet tea was disgustingly sweet, almost like trying to drink syrup. My grand daughters nachos came out about five minutes after our food and was over cooked. The ends of the chips were burnt. read more

My wife and I drive over an hour here at least once a month and today was terrible. Our server was great. The manager not so much. (Malcolm Boykin) his name was on the receipt. We drive here to treat ourselves for grilled salmon because it's our favorite place to get it. When he food came out, it wasn't right so we sent it back. I noticed my wife's salmon was 1/2 the size of mine. We both ordered the. 8 oz. portion. I own a restaurant and being a chef I knew right away that it was the wrong portion size. I mentioned it to our waitress and she agreed in shock and took it back. The manager came out with the same plate and said it was right and I told him it most definitely wasn't. He sat the plate down and walked away. I would fire a manager at my restaurant on the spot for the level of professionalism displayed. It's sad. Worst dining experience ever. The service was extremely slow. The food order was messed up so many times. We asked for lemons with the water no less than 4 times. We asked for chips and queso with meat but didn't the meat and got the crumbs from the bottom of the chip bag. This was honestly one of the best meals we have ever had! We were in town for a softball tournament. My husband and oldest had the country fried chicken with red beans and rice and mashed potatoes and broccoli and cheese casserole respectively. This is the only Cheddar's in town so it's always a quick and cheap option. We always go after the Father Daughter Dance and when we just want good food without the high prices. Each time really varies with experience. This time wasn't horrible but it wasn't like exceptional either. Me and my best friend wanted drinks so that was our main reason for going. I had the top shelf Long Island ice tea which is different than the regular because they use top shelf liquor and 3 diff types. She had the island tiki. Both were very good! So you can't get drinks like that and not eat and she was very hungry anyway. She ordered the Dijon chicken (per my recommendation) w/ a house salad and fries. I ordered the cheese fries appetizer. SN: the small size is more than enough for even two people. Her meal came out before her food. She had to remind him of the salad AND it didn't come with a croissant. Now if you've been there you know they are to die for so it's always something to look forward to. Our waiter was just...okay.
