    Our Famous Fries

I walked into the restaurant on a Friday night around seven. I liked that the place had a fun college feel to it. The front section was full of people, although there were still some tables available. The waitress asked if we wanted to sit in that area or more towards the back where it was quieter. We chose a table in the back, behind the bar. It was much quieter there, so my daughter and I could actually have a conversation. The service was great and the food was served at a good temperature. I ordered the Impossible burger with everything on it. I substituted a pretzel roll for the brioche and for an up-charge, it certainly wasn't worth it. The pretzel roll was tiny, especially for the size of the burger. The fries tasted great - reminded me of Broadway Fries from back in the day. I also appreciated that the soda came in a huge cup so I didn't need a refill.

Stopped here because we didn't know where else to go and we were tired of driving around hitting dead ends on the island. Lol. Food was just average (cheeseburgers, pretzel sticks, chicken tenders), but the prices were reasonable and they give you a huge glass for the drinks. Our server was hard to find after we ordered. He seemed overwhelmed with just a few tables. Forgot our fries, sauce, etc. By that time we got them we were almost done with our meals. The restaurant was clean but 80% of the tables were filled with parties with kids (most of them screaming and/out out of control). Must be on a "good for kids" list. We left and all of us said, phew, that was an exhausting meal. :-/

Honestly, I had low expectations for this restaurant and expected it to be greasy and unappealing. It's got a 50s diner decor and layout and was immaculately clean and new (post storm renovation). The servers were all friendly and on top of things - no issues there. The food wasn't bad at all and I really enjoyed their nachos. The fish tacos and fish sandwich were a hit as well. I wouldn't hesitate to put this on my list of island stops for a quick lunch. Prices were fair too.

What an eclectic combination of themes and great food here! This restaurant has been on Sanibel for decades, and even survived Hurricane Ian (although major renovations were necessary). It's got a 50s diner, old town vibe to it. Burgers, milkshakes, floats, and giant sodas. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the staff were quite friendly and each we talked to had been long-time employees. That says something about a business. If you ever find yourself on Sanibel Island this is a must stop for lunch or early dinner (this and most restaurants on the island close early, even on the weekends)

Wow!! Stopped here after our beach day on Captiva because we were drawn in by the name "cheeburger cheeburger." What does it mean? I still don't know! Anyways, after parking in the spacious strip mall lot, we were greeted by clean retro decor, the kind you want to see in a place known for its burgers and shakes. Our waitress, Pamela, was very informative. She helped guide our decision making on sauces and what servings to get of the fries. A single is good for 2 people! I ordered a classic burger with American cheese, tomato, lettuce, and the signature burger sauce. I thought it was really good! I also had the brownie batter milkshake, also great. The sweet potato fries were even better, especially dipped in the signature burger sauce. The food came out quick, the portions were great, and the proved even better. Everyone was happy with the meal! We even got some entertainment when some patrons nearby embarked on the cheeseburger challenge, but we did not stay long enough to see if they succeeded. But I was rooting for them!

You know I've been coming to this island for years and never stopped by here. Finally had a chance . I sat at the bar just ordered a beer, a burger and some french fries and I was pleasantly surprised. Cheeseburger cheeseburger for the win !

Nice place to stop by to enjoy a burger and fries. The shakes looked amazing but didn't try one. The Blackened Grouper sandwich was tasty. Very cool decoration to look at. Our server was excellent and quick.

It is without question a must do, when you're here. My family and I have been coming here for many years, and it only has gotten better each time. This location has two floors of seating, more importantly two bars you can sit at. After checking in with the hostess, our wait was only about twenty minutes. Once seated at our table all of us were ready to order. For drinks we ordered two rounds I got the Dark and Stormy for both rounds(Gosling's Black Seal Rum mixed with Gosling's Ginger Beer & a squeeze of lime) my ordered a mango and coconut mojito; my sister in law ordered a rum runner. We all loved our drinks. Drinks here are always made perfect. For an appetizer we shared the calamari. The breading was light and the calamari was tender. For entrees my sister in law and I ordered the Deep Water Mahi Mahi(Hand-cut mahi-mahi seared in sweet soy sauce, placed on a jasmine rice stir fry with a tropical vinaigrette) This dish is my favorite meal here. The mahi was tender, the sweet soy sauce and the tropical vinaigrette ties everything together. My wife ordered the Yucatan Shrimp with a side of jalapeño cheese grits. She gave me two thumbs up. My father in law Grouper Sandwich (Fresh grouper grilled, blackened, or fried. Served with Doc's tartar sauce on a freshly baked roll) He ordered his fried. He loves the grouper sandwich here and usually gets it. Again, this is another place we will always comeback to.

Too much of a factory line for me. Last time we ate at a Sunway it was also on an island. When you're stuck pretty much, need to grab a bite during a break from exploring and don't want to waste time with a seat down meal. We got 6 inches sub, my husband went for the Italian BMT, I tried the Rotisserie style chicken with garlic aioli. They didn't have anu sandwich with avocado at this location or avocados period. Communication between us and staff was very poor, language barrier (I am not a native English speaker either, but..), not listening, rushing you for not good reason. I was trying to get simple and be easy going, not overload anyone, not change the ingredients or add too many things. The sandwiches were just OK, bread was breaking on top of mine making it harder to eat. We also got some lemonades. They have no seating inside, small location. We were interested in an outdoor area, it is a small area with some stools in front. We were in a rush, so it worked. But Subway still didn't convince me. Next time we'll be on an island... maybe try something else.

I was so happy that it reopened again and we could not wait to get here! We did not have a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. The night we went must have a been a good night since it was not very busy. We do usually go for lunch but decided to do dinner this year. My family is very traditional and know what we like. We started with clam chowder and the garlic bread with marinara. The clam chowder, OMG this is so creamy, delicious, thick and so yummy. It's almost like a sauce it's so good. It is our favorite clam chowder around! The garlic bread is also delicious, it is crunchy, garlicky and delicious. If you want the marinara it does cost extra and honestly it is good but you can live without it. We actually dipped the garlic bread in the conch chowder. I've also tried the conch chowder also very good but very spicy. I ordered my absolute favorite dish, which is the steamer pot. It's 2 dozen steamed clams, in a steamer pot which comes with butter to dip. I think on its own, you might be hungry but adding the soup its a perfect meal. The steamer pot is actually on the appetizer menu. These clams are so delicious, served hot, with old bay. Honestly I could eat double! My mom ordered the fried shrimp and my sister ordered the buffalo shrimp. They both liked it but were not thrilled with the breading. The breading on both was very sweet and very strange for fried shrimp. My husband ordered the mahi tacos and where he loved the flavor and taste, the portion was very small for the price. He only got 2 and served with a small side of rice and beans. He enjoyed it but said he would not get it again. I do feel this is worth going. I think their prices have increased since re opening and portion sizes have decreased. My family strayed from their usual items and did not overly enjoy it. Next time they said they would stick with what the know is good. The vibe here is very chill and laid back, almost like you are in the hull of a ship. Its a very chill spot. Lots of beer selections as well. I definitely think you should add it to your list to check out.

Lighthouse Cafe managed to make a classic breakfast memorable. We ordered the French toast, and the portion was huge and easy to split. More importantly, it was absolutely delicious. The eggs we ordered were cooked exactly as needed, the bacon was perfectly crisp, and the cheese grits were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. We literally cleaned our plates and ate every bite despite our intentions to simple stop by for a taste. One of the biggest surprises was adding fish to breakfast. It's not something I would have ever thought to eat for breakfast, but it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The fish was incredibly tender and paired surprisingly well with the rest of the meal. It was such a unique addition that it changed the way I think about breakfast. We intentionally ordered some standard breakfast items because we believe that's the best way to judge a breakfast restaurant. If a place can make the classics exceptionally well, that's usually a great sign. Lighthouse Cafe exceeded our expectations across the board with their delicious plates and service.
