I was kind of in a rush, but wanted to check this place out anyway. I loved the snack plate, and the employees were very nice and professional. They definitely know their products... my friend got a ginger ale, and one employee immediately said "That's really spicy! No, like, REALLY spicy." He kind of brushed her off, which made it even funnier when he began choking after the first sip. They also have non-homogenized, non-pasteurized milk for sale. It's pricier than I would like, but if I can't find it anywhere else, at least I know I can get it here. I'll definitely be back to check out some cheese. read more

Yummy! This place reminds me so much of the fromageries in Paris. Wide variety of cheese, and the staff is very helpful.

We come in for one thing, their cheese sandwiches made with amazing baguettes from the Hoa Binh Pomona Supermarket (see their yelp page for rave reviews). Every day you can choose between three sandwiches, and it's whatever they have decided to make. One of them will be meat & cheese (often salami but sometimes ham or salmon), and the other two will be some kind of cheese. You won't necessarily know what three it'll be on a given day, but there is one thing you can be sure of, it'll be an amazing sandwich made from the best ingredients. If you want a simple grab and go lunch, this is the place. But they sell out, so don't get there too late! read more

So fantastic! The Cheese Cave has most of my favorite cheeses (though I'm disappointed that there aren't any demi-chevres), and the staff is super willing to give samples. Cheese Cave has got about the biggest selection of cheese anywhere in the area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful making my visit here very delightful. It was difficult to pick the cheeses to try but with their help we left with a nice assortment. They also carry a number of gourmet items as well as some nice kitch gagetry. They had a great cheese selection and the prices were reasonable. The problem I had was with the staff. The seemed kind of snobbish to me. A friend and I went to check out the place, we are both cheese fans and had never been. We tasted two soft cheeses, then while we were deciding what to try next, the girl behind the counter kept pressuring us to buy the cheese we tasted. We looked some more, and I asked if we could try some hard cheeses, she then said "Are you shopping for cheese today?" Very rude if you ask me. Why else would we be there. We intended to buy some cheese, since it took 45 minutes to get there. I told her "yes" and she asked what we wanted to try. I ask he which one was her favorite, she said "all of them" She was no help at all. I should have known that since this store is in a uppity area that we would be treated like freeloaders. I love the Cheese Cave! When I walk in, I stand in front of the display case and just stare into the glorious selection of cheese- makes me salivate! On my recent trip, I asked for a good cheese to go on a caesar salad. They gave me samples of what they thought were best. They were both so delicious, I ended up getting qtr blocks of each. I also remembered my favorite Gouda from last time so I had them pull it up from my account and grab me that as well. I came here for 1 cheese, but left with 3 and some rosemary crackers too! That's how it usually goes here- can't leave with just one thing! and I walk out dying to get home to have some. I even contemplate whether to use the cheese parer or if i should just bite into the block of cheese, lol. Well, that day I got home and shaved some fine goats milk cheese from Spain to have with the rosemary crackers to snack on while I prepared the salad. I grated fine Italian parmesan onto it and it turned out to be the best caesar salad ever! You have to visit this shop! These folks are so knowledgeable and helpful. It's great how they input your favorite cheese into your account because how else am i going to remember all the unique names aside from the country of origin? it's such a fun experience here and it makes me feel like a real cheese connoisseur :) read more

So, the cheese selection is just okay. The thing about this place is that is has probably 30% cheese and 70% way overpriced non-cheese merchandise. There is alcohol but I wasn't sure if it was curated to match that week's cheese selection, there are 10 dollar chocolate bars (in a cheese cave?) and so many tchotchkes, so many tchotchkes...but actual cheese content was lackluster. I mean a whole cave with one little deli display case full of cheese? There should be walls of cheese, little cubbies with cheese stuffed in them, cheese should be hanging from the ceiling. This was not the reality. I came for the snack pack and paid 27 dollars for two plastic to-go boxes with the 30-70 ratio of cheese and accouterments (dried fruit, nuts, olives, meats, bread. I left thinking, "what about the cheese?"). I am walking distance from this place and will probably go back but only because I love cheese more than anything, more than is logical...Logically, I would save my money and drive to Grand Central Market (Murray's) for a better cheese selection. read more

Have to admit first, the cheese was wonderful, but service was horrible! Today I went back to return a wooden cutting board I had purchased yesterday, that after one use started to shred, after waiting in line for several minutes because they only have one register and a gazillion anxious employees. The employee looked at my damaged block and accused me of putting it in the dishwasher or leaving it in water overnight, I insisted that I did not, but the look was that I was lying, never the less he took it back. I exchanged it for a stone block that was marked $32.00, they rang it up along with another purchase and the total came to more then I expected in my calculation. I asked why the difference and he explained that the new block was such and such size and that this particular block was incorrectly marked and that this one was $40.00, I said but it is marked $32.00, and there was not another one over there anyways what did I care about the size, it was marked $32.00. By this time the manager (who I realized was the manager, on my return) came over and looked at me and said, okay, well I will do it this time, but...her intonation was accusatory, that I had switched the price! I left furious, and decided to go back and ask to talk to the manager, it was she who finished the transaction to begin with. I told her how frustrated I was with the whole experience and that it was absolutely not right how the transaction was handled , she was not apologetic, and proceeded to ask me to "cut them some slack", because of the holidays and proceeded to show me the shelve where the cutting boards were and how the tickets fall off and she was losing money and blah, blah, blah. YUCK!! I WILL NEVER RETURN! P.S. the cheese is wonderful, too bad the cheese can't sell itself, and you have to deal with the rude employees! read more

I approached him with many questions & sought advice regarding dessert cheeses & accompaniments & Milan has been absolutely helpful. He truly has the knowledge & expertise! Definitely impressed by not only how much he knows, but also his ability to provide top notch customer service. As a result, he offered me great suggestions for what I should provide for one of the events I am planning & we have put down an order for 15 lbs of cheese. This place went beyond expectations. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed the cheeses, meats and fruits we sampled. We even took a couple exceptional cheeses home. There aren't too many stores in SoCal that specialize in cheese so it was great to visit this one. The owners here are very helpful and hospitable. They don't make you feel bad for trying different cheeses because they want you to find the perfect one(s). Their cheese selection is organized by the type of cheese and texture, which is great for me because I tend to lean towards the soft, buttery cheeses. They also place labels on each one that let you know if the cheese came from a goat, sheep, or cow, the origin, and additional fun facts/suggestions. The shop also provides a selection of gourmet food items available for those really looking to indulge incessantly. The best thing about this place? The prices. I was able to walk away with four different kinds of cheese for $25. Those prices are by far the most competitive of any other cheese shop in the county. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, when you're paying for your goods they actually set up a cheese profile for you so that they next time you come in, they can look up what cheeses you've purchased and ultimately assist you better the next time you come in. read more
