Late review from my visit back in January. I set off to start my New Year's resolution to take time off and take myself on solo dates and this was my first stop and it was perfect! I started off at the Ceramic Museum just 10 minutes away highly recommend it. I arrived soon after opening since one thing closed at 5 and the other opened at 5 so ideal timing for my adventure. I arrived in ideal time to be seated outside right under the porch and mind you I arrived right before a rush of groups began to arrive after me. While I was alone I didn't feel lonely as the staff was so friendly and continued to check on me. They got busy but still catered to me as I went through my wine tasting. I ordered a season tasting and it was a perfect tasting for a fresh winter night it was not too cold and not too hot just perfect Cali weather for an evening under a porch. I also ordered a mini charcuterie board for myself and it was so perfectly delicious. I never say perfect so many times in one review I wish I could give it more an extra star. For more than twelve years, our group has gathered at the Third Street Wine Shop every Wednesday night. We were first introduced to one another by the previous owners, Mary and Jim, during one of their events--little did we know those introductions would grow into lifelong friendships. Over the years, our Wednesday Wine Nights became a tradition we all cherished. When we learned that the shop was going up for sale, we were understandably nervous. We wondered what would happen if it didn't sell--where would we go? And if it did sell, what if the new owners changed the shop in ways we didn't love? What if we didn't connect with them the way we had with Mary and Jim, who had become family to us? Then it happened, the shop sold. We were introduced to Maria and Veronica, and it was truly love at first meeting. They are two of the kindest, most welcoming women, and they have brought fresh ideas and wonderful energy to the shop. Our Wednesday Wine Nights continue today, and we are grateful to have gained new friends in Maria, Veronica, and their families, who help run this warm, family-operated business. First time experiencing a wine tasting onsite. I've picked up wines here before for other events, but we stopped here after a brunch with our wine friends (16 of us) and did tastings, bought bottles, and shared some charcuterie boards. The inside space is small, but they did accommodate our group, which took up all except one inside table. There is some additional seating on the porch and in the front yard of this Victorian style home turned wine shop. Parking is on street only and can be scarce on weekends. They offer wines by the bottle, glass, or 2 levels of tastings. The first is the House Tasting which is 3 - 3 oz. pours of the shop's choice. The second is a custom tasting, which allows you to pick any 3 of the 8 wines available, and then pours you 3 oz. tastings. The price of this one varies depending on your wine selections. My wife and I opted to share two custom tastings, and we got to try 2 whites and 4 reds. Can't say we liked them all, but we did leave with a bottle that we tasted, as well as purchase another bottle to share with friends while we were there. Overall, a fun little shop with some nice wines, small bites, and good service. As I always say, wine tasting is subjective to the individual's palate. This is a fun and welcoming place. Last night me and my ex-wife went out together and enjoyed a beautiful three course dinner and generously poured wines with each meal. The food was spectacular and the price was fantastic. Only $60 per person you do this at any other place and you're looking at $125. So this is a real bargain plus when you're there you have so much fun and talking with other patrons while we're eating our dinner to other patrons in front of us ordered a charcuterie, which looked just fantastic and we struck up a nice conversation with them and enjoyed their company. The centerpiece for our dinner was a pineapple with flowers, arranged into it and made a beautiful presentation. I've been here before for this type of event and it's never disappointed. I really like this place... I live across the way on 5th and D St. so, it's literally a block away. 1. It's a small place and I love that coziness. 2. They rotate their wine tastings which is great. 3. The older couple that run it, they have their way of doing things haha. I LOVED this place! It's a little house built in 1902 if I remember correctly and has a lot of the original materials but the house has been redecorated as a wine tasting room. I came here on a first date (and first visit to the city of La Verne) and arrived alone but was greeted immediately by Matt, who was super friendly and knowledgeable about all of the wines. He made me feel at ease and comfortable and thankfully we got our pick of seating so we sat outside on the front porch which was kept perfectly warm by a heater on the table which he so graciously adjusted for us. The wine selection was wonderful. Matt took us on a flavorful journey and I even learned something about Mourvèdre, which is an interesting wine a bit rough around the edges (in my opinion) due to its typical use as a blend. The other wines were great selections that went well with our sample platter of cheese, bread and grapes (photo of menu posted). All in all I had a great time here. The bottles if you're interested in purchasing are definitely reasonably priced and this would absolutely make a wonderful spot to take a first date (or a 100th date). read more

I had discovered this place through a Virtual Yelp Event where the establishment did a blind wine tasting - provided two wines - red and white and some snacks to go along with this. Unfortunately, I rsvp'd too late and was unable to get the wine but thougth the owner had a lot of energy and enthuisam, so I sent the yelp page to my boyfriend and he booked this for my birthday! After the governor re-shut down restaraunts, I messaged the business to make sure it would still be open. He just mentioned that we'd have to order food with our tasting and we should be good. Of course we happily obliged. Parked on the street to see that businesses were bustling, mulitple restauants were opened with outdoor seating. It was a bit of an older crowd in and around the neighborhood. Part of the street was closed off, which is cool. We checked in with the host, who I think was the Marketing Director from the virtual event. We also saw the owner and chatted a bit about the Yelp Event. Both were super friendly and said we could pick one of the three tables open. We sat down and they brought us out some water. We ended doing the recommended tasting plus a dry rose. That was actually our favorite tasting. We also go the Estate Sampler which had an array of snacks - brie cheese, fruit, this really good basil jam, olives and crackers. We added a tres savory as well. Overall it was a great experience, and it was so nice to be out and about again! They have a great shop/restaurant that used to be a house. Very charming and have such knowledgeable and friendly staff! If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I'd definitely come back. And since its outdoor seating, dogs are also welcomed! read more
