The raclette feast was pretty underwhelming - I was expecting a delicious lava flow of cheese. I think the cheese needs to melt for much longer so that when they scrape it onto your plate, it ribbons down nicely. Instead, the raclette was nearly cold within a minute of scraping, so we ended up cutting pieces of cheese vs dipping and wrapping our potatoes etc in lava cheese. The "feast" plate was pretty underwhelming and not particularly attractively plated. You get two slices of bread, a handful of cold roasted potatoes, a couple of forkfuls of salad, and about a dozen cornichon. Oh and a tbsp of pickled onion. But it was the not melty cheese that was disappointing. We did get shrimp and grits which was tasty but needed hot sauce. It's rich and the grit cakes were excellent. But hot sauce was necessary to cut all that richness. I mean, I'm glad we finally did this raclette thing, but it was an underwhelming experience, with disorganized service and oh man it was loud even though it wasn't very full when we were there. I've been wanting to check this place out ever since I first saw it and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night and there was only bar seating available (so make sure to make a reservation in advance as there is not always guaranteed seating). The staff was fast and friendly as well as very knowledgeable about all the wine they offered. We ordered a rosé flight, grilled cheese with bacon and tomato soup, lobster Mac and cheese, and a cheese board. The cheese board was fantastic and all the cheeses we chose were so delicious it was hard to pick a favorite. The grilled cheese with bacon was perfect and not too greasy. I went with my partner for my birthday lunch and it was DELICIOUS! Got the spinach artichoke dip and a cheese board because we just wanted small bites. We also got these 2 mocktails to split which were also very good. We sat outside and it was beautiful out and the staff was so incredibly nice. We did have to sit and wait around for a while to be served and their menu is very expensive, but they are a speciality store. SO. MUCH. CHEESE! First, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to avoid having a long wait or even being turned away. The night we ate here, we thankfully made a reservation and the hostess said they were booked up for the night.. so we knew it had to be good!!! We started with a build your own charcuterie board. As a tip, you can actually make your own size - their menu offers 3, 6, or 10 but you can opt for 4 or 5 if you need! We did chose 4 :) Their sangria is delicious. We also got wine but I forgot to take a photo. Of course I has to get the most cheesy meal - I got their Brie and Pearscuitto grilled cheese which was AMAZINGGGG and of course had to opt for a side of Mac & Cheese. Sooo cheesy and so good. The parking attendant tells you the restaurant would validate, but he won't tell you that he won't be there when you get out to return $2 - no big deal at all. My husband and I were in Alexandria, VA for the day and we were craving comfort food. A rainy cold day calls for a warm and gooey grilled cheese! We found this place and it had good reviews. Gourmet grilled cheese, Mac n cheese, cheese cake, oh my! So they give you a bottle of chilled water for the table and these cute little glasses. We ordered the cheese steak and Brie and pearciutto grilled cheese. Everything was delicious...my only suggestion would be not to over cook the prosciutto. It made the sandwich difficult to eat because it became like jerky. The flavors paired very well together. The cheesesteak was tender and savory. The Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy...the bread crumbs were a great addition. Last but not least the cheesecake was decadent! The fruit paired nicely with the richness of the cake. Seeing the star rating of Cheesetique, I had higher expectations than were delivered on our recent visit. First, the highlights: The service was good--both the hostess & our server were friendly & accommodating. The ambience was also lovely. We were fortunate to be seated in their back room, so it was quiet & relaxed, with low lighting & good music. Sadly, what really disappointed was the food. I ordered the weekday lunch special, which includes a half of any grilled cheese (I chose the Sassy Goat), a cup of tomato soup, & a mixed greens salad. The grilled cheese fillings were very skimpy--there was barely any goat cheese (what?!) or avocado. The soup was bland & begged for seasoning, & the "salad" was just greens with a touch of vinaigrette...so little that I asked for extra. After visiting the other 3 locations, so glad I finally checked out the original restaurant! This location is a bit homier and functions like a cheese shop with a cozy restaurant tucked in the back. Although the restaurant is small and seats only 20 people or so, I didn't have a reservation and walked-in on a Friday night. Street parking can be hard to find and recommend paying $2 to park in the lot behind the restaurant. The food and drinks are bursting with flavor and always on point in every location. The featured Adult Peppermint Hot Cocoa cocktail with candy cane infused vodka was delicious! I enjoyed the Hot Buttered rum as well. Although the cocktails were sweet, they weren't sugary sweet. Great way to warm me up in the winter! I enjoyed the Fromage Fort cheese fondue with bold gorgonzola cheese and grilled bread. The Fun Guy sandwich is my favorite vegetarian sandwich with fluffy ciabatta, marinated meaty mushrooms, and garlic aioli to elevate the flavor! My husband like the beef brisket daily special. This is the third Cheesetique location I have visited, and this one has been my favorite in terms of both food and service. I saw the $35 dinner for two deal for RW and definitely wanted to stop in. I made an OpenTable reservation, but we ended up sitting outside which is first come, first serve. Service throughout our meal was friendly, efficient, and quick (with refills, requests for items, etc.). The only drawback to the patio outside could be the flies (just an FYI), but, for some reason, once the sun went down, they all disappeared so the majority of our meal was fly-free. For our app (only offering the board of three), we chose 3 cheeses since I cannot have charcuterie right now. We also could not choose raw milk cheese, so options were semi-limited. We chose a double aged white cheddar, a goat cheese, and a stilton blue. Both of us enjoyed the stilton the most. It was not overwhelming with the blue cheese typical flavor, very mild. The goat cheese was very creamy and paired well with the sweet jellies and honey on the board. The cheddar paired well with the stone ground mustard and pickles. For our entrees, we decided to share the mac 'n cheesetique (Goat Gouda, Asiago and Cacio de Roma topped with truffle-infused bread crumbs) and the brie and pearsciutto grilled cheese (Brie d'Amir, sliced Asian pear, crispy Prosciutto on sourdough w/ a side of honey). The mac 'n cheesetique was very creamy and I loved the toasted bread crumbs on top. I felt it was slightly too bland, though, and would have loved some pepper so other seasoning. The brie and pearsciutto was by far the favorite meal! The bread was crisp and well toasted. I loved the sweet (honey dip and pear) and the salty (brie and prosciutto) flavors. My husband commented that the pear was a bit too hard so when he would bite into the sandwich, his bite pushed the other ingredients out. I, too, would have preferred slightly softer pears, but it was still tasty nonetheless. The cheese was well-melted and gooey too. The dessert was a chocolate mousse to share and WOW, I would not go to many places JUST for dessert but I would absolutely make that exception here! The whipped cream was better than most homemade varieties, just tasted fresher and creamier. The chocolate mousse was so light that it was the perfect ending to a fabulous meal. I love how at this location, as well as the others, semi-sweet chocolate chips appear with the check. Our total was under $40 (including 1 non-alcoholic beverage)-excellent deal for RW! I cannot wait until I can have wine again because Cheesetique will definitely be one of the first places I suggest for after-baby date night! read more

Izzy was our waitress and she did a wonderful job! We got the fried cheese curds, which are not to be missed! The Ross flight, which I wondered about but each wine was vastly different so it was really interesting and they gave a very generous pour, so it was easy to share. My friend got the grilled cheese and I got the lasagna, then we split a side of Mac & cheese and the chocolate mousse. Everything was really delicious and the lasagna was a nice left over. Overall, fancy AF grilled cheese, where can you go wrong? I've spent an exorbitantly stupid amount of money on delivery from this place over the last few years and today's less than positive experience prompted me to review. Everything grilled cheese relayed here is the bomb. I will note that delivery is somehow compromised in that regardless what you order, your cheese will be in the plastic carry out container (not between the bread) but whatever. Small price to pay. Tater tots are the bomb and the butter side they come w is incredible. Problematic is the Mac and cheese. I was having a sh*t of a day and decided to splurge and get a side of lobster Mac and cheese. Whomever added the "lobster" is best case scenario deluded, worst case a motherf*cking liar. There were maybe 3 pieces the size of my pinky finger nail that could maybe pass as lobster to a blind/deaf human. Whatever the dish was sprinkled with was also awful. We ate from the restaurant week winter 2024 menu. The service was acceptable although pretty slow, especially from a preset menu. The Prosecco was room temperature, not cold. The tomato soup and ceasar salad were good but nothing special. My husband's pork shoulder entree was not cooked properly. The whole plate was grey and the fat was not rendered. The carrots were supposed to be glazed and had as far as we could tell no seasoning. I had the lasagna, which had great cheese on it. The sauce was bland and tasted like plain tomato. The only saving grace was the cheesecake and chocolate mousse, which we both enjoyed. Overall, this restaurant is far overpriced for the quality. Would not return. read more

Had a craving for grilled cheese and was in del ray so I figured cheesetique was the place to go. Unfortunately my craving was not satisfied by the Brie and pearsciutto grilled cheese I ordered. The sandwich was nicely toasted, maybe could have gone a touch longer but had a decent crunch. Beyond that, I had several issues with the sandwich starting with the lack of cheese, there were a few small pieces of Brie, seen in the pics, that did not cover the bread. Not sure if this is the norm but the sandwich definitely needed more cheese more evenly distributed, potentially even adding a second cheese would help with the cheesiness. Given that this is a store and restaurant focused on cheese I would have expected more. The pears were very crisp, almost like they were not entirely ripe and the prosciutto added very little flavor. There was honey on the side which added a little extra sweetness but overall the dish was pretty bland, unfortunately I have made a better version of this at home. The rosemary chips that came as a side were the best part of the dish. As one other note the majority of the staff is not wearing masks, both kitchen and servers. Between that and the forgettable grilled cheese I don't know that I can recommend the restaurant. read more

I really love Cheesetique, and it's somewhat dangerous consIdering I have one within walking distance to my house. It's a great neighborhood bar, it's got outdoor seating, and guys...tons of yummy cheese dishes. So I can walk over with my pup, sit outside, and throw down on some cheesy goodness. I've been here with friends for charcuterie and drinks, wine, and brunch. I had a lovely experience each time. Their charcuterie boards are beautiful, fresh, and so good. I love that they also include some kind of fruit or honey too...jebus. I love a honeycomb on my charcuterie board. For brunch, my hubby had their shrimp and grits which were really tasty. The shrimps were large and in charge, and the grits themselves were packed with flavor. I had their Brie and Pearsciutto...folks. This is STUPID-GOOD. So delish. It's crispy, sweet, salty...and folks, there's a side of honey! I loved this sammy, and I will be back to have it again. Oh, and the key lime pie!!! To die for. Brunch Frittata I love Cheesetique and until this morning the food was always excellent. Today I ordered the frittata. It was dry and tasteless. I told my waitress when she asked and she offered to ask the chef if there was a sauce that might help. She returned with some mozzarella balls that were so mild they added nothing. Mount Vernon Ave is home to the original Cheesetique. Part cheese store, part wine shop and bar and finally part restaurant. Fortunately, it all seems to come together fairly well. Many of the menu items feature cheese. It is a good place to order a cheese sandwich and enjoy a glass of wine. Cheesetique gives you some tasty chocolate morsels to finish to meal (and maybe swish down your last drops of wine). Service on my visit was friendly and efficient. Free wine tastings in Saturdays! Stop by! The food here was DELICIOUS! We had dinner here in a Friday night. I had the lasagna.. best lasagna I have ever had! And their cheese plates are great for sharing and pairing (with wine). We came back on Saturday for the wine tasting with a friend, and stayed for brunch. So far 10 minutes late with my pickup of lobster macs.  No clear sense of how much longer this will take. Also no masking for inside. Noted that one staff was coughing, although only slightly. I never heard of this place until I spotted this place and stopped to see what this place was all about! So my friend and I ended sitting outside and not to mention we got raided by the yellow jackets, so we ended sitting inside the restaurant. Also our server said there was a hive somewhere and we said you should really find where it is and get rid of it or hire someone that will do so. Not to mention we had a fly that got stuck to our spicy cheese that the restaurant gives you with your spread. They left the spread on the table with the fly still in it!
