Cheesewalla is located in Orange Street Alley which makes for a unique hangout and dining experience. The restaurant offers only outdoor seating in the alley. The staff was friendly enough but lacked that welcoming feeling. My fountain drink was served with no ice :( The food was very tasty but sandwich fillings were underwhelming for the high price tag. Essentially two upscale grilled cheese sandwiches with sides and one fountain drink. With tip we were $50 dollars plus. I had an unfortunate incident with the owner Kadir on 3/17, I told him how much I loved his food but told him that I had gone and one of his employees was touching her hair when taking my order then making not only my food but multiple orders before me, him, obviously under the influence of at least alcohol he started getting mad asking why I was watching his employees make food, he said I shouldn't do that and there's no way I do that at other restaurants, when I told him I absolutely was watching and was disgusted by his employee touching her hair taking orders then no gloves making the food he screamed at me telling me not to eat there ever again, I responded telling him how much I patronize at his restaurant he told me they don't need me and not to ever go back! I was being nice BSing with him as we were out on a holiday and he yelled at me that they don't need my business multiple times. If you want greasy cash holding hands making your food go there if not then try somewhere else! I have been a regular at cheesewalla since they opened the food is so good, but it's disgusting to see the way it's handled and the owner literally said *f* you when I tried to talk to him like I was in the wrong. Given the setting I get he was out having fun but first encountered him at cheesewalla, his own establishment, but this took place a couple businesses down from his, but to be so blatantly rude and say my business isn't needed is mind boggling considering how many times I've been there when not a soul is in their sad bar is crazy! I will make sure everyone knows how dirty and disgusting this establishment is and that one of the owners simply doesn't care how his employees handle the food or that they have local repeat customers! The best part about my temporary stay in Redlands was a friend recommending this spot to me. I can't comment on the vibe because I grabbed an order to go, but the selection was so amazing that I ordered two different sandwiches because I couldn't make up my mind. I promise you, you've never had a grilled cheese like this, and it will likely ruin all others for you. Cheesewalla is truly a beloved institution. The alley entrance is magical, and the indoor area you can enter from is always quiet and chill, with plenty of tables to enjoy at. We order the Samosa, pbc+j, and bbq mac grilled cheeses. Each one is delicious in its own way. The cheese is always at the right ratio. The samosa is wonderfully spiced, and comes with three different dipping sauces, just like actual samosas. I am anti cilantro, but the other two sauces pair so well with it. The bbq mac has a delicious barbecue sauce and tender beef. All three sandwiches could've used more filling; there was a ton of empty crust leftover that did not get eaten. Favorite dishes are their tomato bisque and their fried ravioli. I find they go great together. Only time I didn't like their bisque was when it was horrendously salty (could be because I was served the last of it/bottom of pot), but gratefully that is not the norm. I've enjoyed their Krispy Creme donut dish and various tater tot dishes (potatoes were well done inside and out) but their portions are better suited for HS football players; too much for me. BBQ Mac is what's up! This place is not for the everyday but man it has great comfort food. The garlic tots are above and beyond yummy and they had a great drink selection- both alcoholic and non. There's a bar in the back too that's super clean with friendly service. You can eat indoors or outdoors in the umbrella alley. Love this place. It's one of my favorite hangouts, the bartenders are great and personable, people are cool. They have a great mix of draft beers and my favorite on the menu is the buffalo sandwich, absolutely delicious. My daughter has been to Cheesewalla quite a few times and she wanted me to meet her there for lunch. There were tables inside and outside. When we walked up there were a few people outside and two tables full inside. All tables were four tops. There was some bar seating also. We ordered and waited outside. The food did not take long. I ordered a traditional sandwich and tater tots. The sandwich had several black scorched areas on the inside of the bread, as well as the outside. These areas tasted strange. They did not taste burnt but had an almost chemical taste. The tater tots were not hot. My grandson and son also had a traditional with the same black scorch marks. My daughter had a traditional with tomato soup. Same thing with the bread. The soup was chunky and had a great flavor. I could not eat the parts of the bread that was scorched nor did anyone else. I'm glad my daughter likes this place, hence the three stars, but I would not return. read more

Find Cheesewalla in the Orange Street Alley of Downtown Redlands. They have a good amount of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from, and there's a separate bar area if you're in the mood for a cold one or two. They also have juices, soda, and lemonade. You can choose to dine inside in the hallway, outside in the alley under the colorful umbrellas, or inside "BarWalla." The service was quick, and prices aren't bad at all. The portions are very generous. My Mushroom Swiss was perfect, and the tots were nice and crispy. The lemonade was good, not too sweet or sour. The food here is made fresh to order, so you KNOW it's gonna be a party in your mouth! The bar staff was friendly even though I didn't end up ordering any alcohol. My wife and I love cheesewalla and have been coming here since moving to the area four years ago.My wife loves the pizza grilled cheese and it's a great sandwich....if it weren't for the fact that lately (as in like for the past 2 years) they almost ALWAYS forget to include the marinara sauce. This place is amazing!! My coworker and I tried it one day when it popped up in our Yelp search for sandwiches for lunch. We looked at the pictures and the menu. So, we decided to go there and try it. It took a little bit of searching to find parking on a weekday at lunch time. We were greeted very cheerfully & warmly. The cashier was very helpful with the menu and that helped to finalize our decisions. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of regular tater tots. OMG it was so good & juicy. My coworker got a sandwich (I forgot which one) and she loved it. Clearly the tomato soup is made in-house. It was very fresh and perfect balance of flavors. First time here and two ladies that were working were incredibly rude from the moment I stepped inside of the door. If you are looking for an establishment where you can feel unwelcome and on edge the entire time welcome you have found the perfect spot. The employee was incredibly aggressive about the door that was two feet away from her remaining closed at all times and even made it a point to shove the door and slam it behind one customer and then behind me after we both left. We walked in and took a look at the menu and decided to order the Buffalo chicken sandwich combo and the jalapeño popper sandwich. The guy that took out order was really chill and took our number so we would be notified when the food was ready. I also got a Dr Pepper. Which was way to sweet and not very carbonated.. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich had chips in it and was pretty good but I paid $9.50 for half my sandwich to not have chicken on it.. and the sauce was only on half the sandwich also which was upsetting. Also the cheese was good but didn't have enough in some bites and a lot in other bites. It was a very badly proportioned sandwich. The Jalapeño Popper Sandwich good the ingredients were hard to mess up. It had a nice little kick to it and had good flavor. The bread on both sandwiches was toasted perfectly also so I'll give them that. The fries weren't served right away, they weren't fresh out the fryer and were kind of warm but still had a crisp to them.. so obviously they were ready before the sandwiches .. they were okay fries honestly. We waited at the counter for some time before any employee acknowledged us (even though the girl walked right past us). This is the place for the ULTIMATE CHEESE LOVER. If you have heart problems or clogged arteries, stay clear of this place lol The food is so cheesy and delicious!!! They allow vegan and vegetarian substitutes too! You can add a beyond meat patty to any sandwich or substitute the real meat for beyond meat. Pretty awesome. There is an up charge unfortunately. It's a $2.50 charge for a vegetarian beyond meat patty. I look forward to the day when vegan and vegetarian options cost the same as their regular meat counterparts. Until then, I'll pay the up charge. Because I want that veggie meat! Lol I ordered the BBQ Mac and Cheese sandwich. Made it a combo with cheesy tots and a soda. It's located in the Downtown Redlands Umbrella alleyway. You order your food, they give you a buzzer, you get your food, and there's seating outside. We got the: 1) Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese: -It's provolone and shredded mozzarella and pepperoni on cheddar Parmesan crusted sourdough bread. -Marinara sauce is served on the side and it had a bit of a kick to it which was nice. -Very cheesy, good amount of pepperoni. -The bread was a bit oily though, but otherwise not bad. 2) Zucchini Fries: -Big serving of zucchini fries. -Comes with a side of ranch. -Honestly I didn't really like the texture, really oily on the outside and the zucchini itself was pretty mushy and slimy on the inside. -No crispiness from the exterior batter at all. -Didn't really eat much of it to be honest. My cousins have been talking about this place so I finally got to try it. Such a cute alley area of food places in downtown Redlands. My cousins both got the brisket grilled cheese sandwich, one with tots and the other sweet potato fries. I got the loaded potato minus the bacon. What I loved was how they make the bread crispy but still have the middle soft with the filling. So addicting and delicious with generous portions.
