    Chicken Lo Mein

The food here is always tasty. Old school msg laden flavors. Just what we were looking for. Had the chicken fried rice as well as a dish with chicken, beef and shrimp with veg and gravy (on the chef specials and I can't remember the name ) the corn flower soup is also just right.

After having a not so great experience here many moons ago my other half informed me of an insanely good deal they were having so we decided to give it a try again. We did take out so no comments bout the in restaurant service. I am happy to report that along with a face lift inside and out, the food seems to have gone through a similar quality improvement. It was good. I'm not going to contextualize it here other than to say that before I wouldn't consider it as a valid dining option despite being in the neighborhood but the recent experience changes that. I hope they keep up the quality this time. :)

Not typical service but keep in mind it's a south Asian counter service place where you don't get refills. The hot & sour soup was very nice - coulda been a little bit thicker, hotter, & more vinegar. Still was happy to have it. The steamed dumplings were nice. They didn't taste like frozen cardboard so if they purchase them, they either keep refrigerated and cook fresher that way or they maybe thaw first. Either way was nice. The sauce was good also. The beef lo mein was good & normally hate beef. The noodles were perfect texture & it's the first place where they julienne the veggies instead of giving you a ton of veggies for filler lol. We didn't expect that! To get beef lo mein instead half an onion. Kudos for that. Chicken Manchurian was my fave. The red peppers & jalapeños & sauce. I allowed it to get mushy eating the other things. My bad. It was cooked very well. I liked it a lot. The veggie dish we tried was the imperial tofu. It was a bit softer than most places so don't order if you have texture issues or ask them to dry it a bit. The flavor was good & they have a good selection of vegetarian things. I kinda wish they had paneer to substitute but understand I'm probably the only person who wants that in Chinese food lol. We liked this a lot & thankful for a halal Chinese option. Also - the portions are huge. If you order a small appetizer you can for sure split an entree. We are taking home a full noodle serving & two heavy full to go boxes. 4-5 people could have dined for this $58 for sure

It's odd that a Chinese place has ketchup as a condiment.

These guys can delivery on quality Chinese food, but this and somewhat decent customer service is all the positives I can give on this visit. The restaurant may appear inviting enough at first glance, but the guy operating at the countertop who spoke our language was a bit hard to understand just taking our order, I had to remind him that he forgot our order of water that unexpectedly came in bottles, ketchup is apparently a condiment for a Chinese restaurant, my friend and I were sweating mildly because of the lack of air conditioning (because it was a peak summertime day and was not helped by a back door cracked open), and the restroom didn't have any paper towels. The whole meal that was amazing is barely a saving grace for me to return here unless you order delivery.

The best value and the best tasting Chinese food in Frisco. Very friendly service from the staff made the dining experience even more pleasant. The food was freshly prepared but it didn't take for ever. This has become our go to place both for dine in, and take out whenever we crave good Chinese food. One of the staff member, Irfan was super helpful and had an extremely nice attitude which we so much appreciate when we go out to eat.

Chow mein came with no noodles and wet. Lemon chicken was greasy and the only lemon aspect was the two slices of lemon on top.

Ask the Community - Chef Chen Chinese Restaurant - Frisco

I heard chef chen frisco under new management a months or so and is their quality got better than before if someone have experience in the last month or so because on google reviews they are top rated now?

They now have a South Asian muslim owner who's changed it over to completely zabihah halal meat. I never went before, but the quality now is definitely much better than what old ratings are saying.

The soup dumplings ended up having a sweet taste in the soup. The hot and sour soup was not sour at all, and I ended up, doctoring it a bit by asking for some vinegar. I would highly recommend against people ordering this if they're expecting the authentic Asian flavor profile. The beef noodle soup ordered medium spicy was not spicy at all and so next time if I ever go back, I'll have to get their extra spicy. And their tofu noodle soup did not have nearly as much tofu as the picture seemed to make us believe. The one thing I did really like was the wontons in the wonton soup so if I come back, I'll probably just be ordering that. Overall, I think I was expecting a classic Taiwanese flavor profile and was left wanting more.

This place is absolutely made for a group outing, and we're already planning to come back with a group to take full advantage. The food was a delight. The Singapore noodles had this wonderful curry flavor that I absolutely loved, and the combo fried rice was just as satisfying. We also ordered the Peking duck (P1 on the menu). It was good, though not quite as flavorful on its own as we'd hoped. That said, once you load it up with the hoisin, cucumber, and spring onions, it all comes together beautifully. The bao buns that came with it were soft and delicious, honestly a highlight. We also sipped on hot jasmine tea throughout, which was the perfect, refreshing complement to the whole meal. A solid spot with great vibes, tasty dishes, and room to grow on us even more with a return visit.

The ambiance is okay and unfortunately the restrooms were poorly maintained and smelled bad. Overall the food was just average. The fried pork was not seasoned well, and didn't taste great despite being fried and obviously unhealthy. The black bean noodles were okay and very unidimensional. The noodles did have a good texture and chew. The spicy seafood noodles was also lacking depth of flavor, and it was very underwhelming. My diagnosis: average food with good service.

The servers were kind and hustling nonstop. That said, it looked like they were a bit understaffed for a Saturday lunch rush -- only two employees were handling seating, orders, drinks, and checkout for the whole restaurant. Still, they did their best, and it showed. I tipped generously - well deserved. Ambiance: Clean, nicely decorated, and a fair size space. My party of five was seated quickly with no issues. Food: Unfortunately, this is where things fell flat. The jja jang myun noodles texture and chew were great, but the sauce was underwhelming and lacked depth. The jjampong portion was huge (great value!), but it too was on the bland side -- missing that rich, spicy seafood flavor I was hoping for. The sweet and sour fried pork was just okay, nothing memorable. Overall, Dong Bo Sung is fine if you're nearby and craving this type of cuisine -- you'll definitely leave full -- but for me, it didn't quite hit the mark. I'm a bit spoiled by Paik's Noodle, so this one lands at a solid 3 out of 5.
