The ambiance is okay and unfortunately the restrooms were poorly maintained and smelled bad. Overall the food was just average. The fried pork was not seasoned well, and didn't taste great despite being fried and obviously unhealthy. The black bean noodles were okay and very unidimensional. The servers were kind and hustling nonstop. That said, it looked like they were a bit understaffed for a Saturday lunch rush -- only two employees were handling seating, orders, drinks, and checkout for the whole restaurant. Still, they did their best, and it showed. I tipped generously - well deserved. Ambiance: Clean, nicely decorated, and a fair size space. My party of five was seated quickly with no issues. Food: Unfortunately, this is where things fell flat. The jja jang myun noodles texture and chew were great, but the sauce was underwhelming and lacked depth. The jjampong portion was huge (great value!), but it too was on the bland side -- missing that rich, spicy seafood flavor I was hoping for. I love eating the sauteed seafood on scorched rice! It's so delicious, and the rice is crunchy when you eat it as soon as the seafood is poured into the rice dish! I highly recommend this dish if you like seafood although it is one of the more expensive dishes. It is enough for 3 people in my opinion. The service is good, and the servers were quick taking orders. My family and I didn't wait long for the food to come out. It's a small restaurant with a designated area for large parties, and it's pretty quiet and a bit dim but gives a nice ambiance, I guess. There's a lot of parking, and the restrooms are clean but kind of smells like a hair salon. TL;DR: I love and recommend eating the sauteed seafood on scorched rice. I was reeeally craving black bean noodles with sweet and sour meat, so we went here. It was quiet on Saturday night at 7pm so we were a little apprehensive but the food was tasty and the ambiance was cozy. The staff was polite and efficient. The portions are healthy. I would say two dishes feeds 3-4 people, so the value is quite decent. The flavors for both dishes were tasty but standard. They're not the best as other places in Carrollton but they definitely warmed my soul and satiated my cravings. The sweet and sour can be beef or pork, regular or spicy, and the jajangmyeon has regular sauce and +$1 options for seafood or minced pork+veggies. The sweet and sour beef we got was tangy and tasty, with deep fried beef and big, tasty chunks of pineapple, carrots and bell peppers. The beef was not super soft but it was also not gristly, so I was happy with it. Note - we got spicy but it wasn't remotely spicy. I don't know if they forgot to make it spicy or the spicy is really not spicy. I'll have to report back next time I go. The black bean noodle was tasty too. It came with pickles and raw onions and extra sauce on the side. The sauce was tasty, especially with the added texture of the pork and veggies. Very good!! We lucked up on Dong Bo Sung since the place we were initially going had a wait. We came here and were seated immediately. It quickly filled up after we arrived. We placed our drink orders, asked a few questions about the menu, and ordered. We had the fried dumplings, noodles in black bean sauce for 2, spicy chicken, and orange chicken. The noodles in black bean sauce could have been eaten by 3 or 4 people. It was a lot of food, and good food. Everyone enjoyed what they had and we have plenty to take home for another meal. Overall, not bad! I liked their Ganjjajang a lot. Could be the best I've had in DFW so far (but still not as good as the one I'd get in Korea lol). Jjamppong was also pretty flavorful, not too spicy. My friends and I did family style with Noodle with mixed seafood and veggie soup, noodles with black bean sauce, beef with scallions, sweet and sour sauce (the bowl), fried pork, and flower bread . Service was really good because there was only one or two employees running so it did take some time for our items to come but the food did come quickly. So service response time was appropriate. The decor is really cute but I forgot to take photos of them. The food is super amazing and I would totally come again with my family. They're also very dense food so come hungry! This is my family's FAVORITE place to eat! We'd always gone to the Dallas location prior to this one opening, but this location is so much cleaner and nicer than the Dallas one which makes for a better experience. Service is also fantastic at both locations, and owners and workers all seem to care a lot about good quality service. The Chinese-Korean food is absolutely amazing and hard to find elsewhere. I always get the Mapo Tofu (tofu with spicy sauce & meat), Black Bean Noodles aka Jajangmyeon, and Sweet and Sour Pork aka Tangsuyuk !! The Mapo Tofu is the perfect mix of spicy and savory and is great to eat with rice. The Jajangmyeon is amazing per usual, and the Tangsuyuk sauce comes on the side so that the chicken doesn't get soggy. Overall, 10/10!! Recommend this to all of my friends and family. Dong Bo Sung is actually the second best jjajangmyun I've had in the US, right behind Paik's Noodles in Los Angeles. I heard the jjajangmyun scene wasn't too great in Dallas so I wasn't hopeful, but I was BLOWN away at how great this place was. We visited on a Thursday evening with a few friends and it wasn't too busy but still had fairly a good amount of people. It was my first meal of the day so I was starving. I ordered the gan jjajangmyun, my friend ordered the shrimp jjamppong and my other friend ordered the regular jjajangmyun. We also got a spicy pork tangsooyook to share. The food came out VERY quickly - tangsooyook took maybe 5 minutes. Everything about the food was great. Tangsooyook tasted amazing. The sauce was really good. I am a person who like dipping instead of it coming it out spread out but there wasn't an option. Despite that, it tasted GREAT. The gan jjajang was oh soooooo good. It was so delicious and the noodles were particularly GREAT. It had an interesting texture -- a good interesting and it blended really well with the noodles. I tried some of my friend's jjamppong soup and that was very good too. Our server was very kind to us and she kept asking us for water refills, danmooji refills. Overall this place was FANTASTIC. As our first time we came they were cooked perfectly but the last time we came for dinner it came out completely soggy! I appreciate that you are always seated right away. But from that point on service is almost non existent. Need to wait a lot to get your water filled or ask a question about the menu. We passed by Dong Bo Sung many many times but never went in cause: 1) it's located in the booming part of Frisco which is famous for its expensive rent, we assumed it was pricy 2) it's Korean Chinese food, not authentic Chinese Chinese food. For you novice folks, Chinese food I every country differ.. just like Fortune cookie was created in America and not China. Therefore what DBS sells is black bean noodles, seafood noodles, tang su yuk (sweet and sour pork) Then my co-worker mentioned it wasn't bad. So on a Friday evening, we landed ourselves here. Tried: 1) Flower bread. 3/5. It's a deep fried dough. The outer part is too deeply fried that it becomes hard. I'm an Asian and it was hard to pick it up using chopsticks. My kid just stabbed it using chopsticks. The inside was softer but My family wasn't impressed. 2) Tang Su Yuk aka sweet and sour pork 3/5 $16.95 Forgot to ask them to put the sauce on the side. In a Korea there's a great divide between those who believe the sauce should be poured over the pork or should be on the side for dipping. The first 5 bites was ok, felt it was really good. But afterwards I felt it was too sweet, and regretted that I didn't ask for the sauce to be on the side. The batter itself was good and it was crispy. By the time we were 2/3 through it became a chore for me to finish this dish. 3) Combo fried rice 5/5 $8.95 Wow we were really surprised by how good it was. I came here on a Monday night with my girlfriend and her family and when we got here around 5:45 we just managed to be seated before it got very busy with a bunch of families and larger groups. We ordered our food and the service was insanely fast. I'm pretty sure our food came out within 5 minutes of us ordering. The jjajangmyun was delicious and one of the better ones I've had in the area. It was also very cheap for the amount of food that you get so I'd definitely come again if my gf and I were craving noodles. The tangsuyuk was crispy and well fried. I recommend asking for the sauce on the side so that the pork doesn't get soggy and mushy. The sweet tangsuyuk sauce had the right level of sweetness and a good thickness to cling to the pork. I had a smaller bowl of jjambong and it was okay. Maybe I wasn't in the mood for jjambong that day but the broth wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. Honestly this restaurant is so good! It's a Korean style Chinese restaurant, and it's the best restaurant of this category that I've had in the Dallas area. The interior is quite nice. They have clean tables and nice decor. It's lit on the dark side to Mach the overall aesthetic of the restaurant. The service is nice. Nothing out of the ordinary but I have nothing to complain about. I came with my family of 5 people and we got 4 dishes to share and it was MORE than plenty. Their portions are absolutely gigantic lol. That makes their rather high prices seem very reasonable. The food is pretty great. They have great flavor without the food being too salty like in other restaurants of this style. The sweet and sour pork is nice and crispy, and the sauce gives it some really great flavor. The seafood jajangmyun is really good. The noodles are nice and chewy and the ingredients are very fresh. Overall the food is is pretty great and deserves a high rating. The big portions allow you to share with others and have enough to eat. This is great for family meals where everyone eats a bit of each dish. Pretty much always get jajangmyeon (black bean noodle) and jjampong (spicy seafood noodle) when I'm here. Sometimes also the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). Pricing is great for the portion. The jjampong in particular is a massive bowl. We always over-order and end up taking food home (which I'm okay with!). Never had problems with service here; they'll try their best to help. Best jjam pong in town. It has the depth of flavor without being overly spicy to compensate for something that is lacking. Jja jjang myun is pretty decent (for Texas). I'll be coming here on the regular with my family. Reminds me of home (Southern California). We got the mapo tofu and my wife liked it. It was a little too un-authentic for me but I'd still order it to go and eat it as a late night snack. The portions are huge. I'm so grateful this place is in Frisco. It's great to see decent Asian places make their way up to Frisco rather than having to drive down all the time to Carrollton.
