We first started at Cooks 888 but after seeing the menu had changed and the prices have been increased significantly in addition a 8oz can of coke costing $2.79 when there used to be fountain drinks we decided to try this place. I used to like this place because it's one of the few Chinese places with St Louis style fried rice on the menu. Recently in the last few months or so I've noticed a change - and not a good one. I ordered over $50 worth of food for a get together and they gave me 2 duck sauces and 4 soy sauces. When I requested 4 more duck sauces they said they would have to charge. Who charges for duck sauce?!?That's like charging for ketchup packets. Ridiculous. I would expect that they at least provide 2 packets per entree. It 2 packets per order. This restaurant was a go to for quick and decent for the prices. I want to say that I am in a customer service industry and a manager. I have ordered from this restaurant and until I ordered and did not have the food delivered on this past Sunday, had no issues. I tried calling the restaurant 7 times and never reached a person. I requested a refund after waiting over an hour and a half. The restaurant said they delivered but acknowledge they never called but did leave at door. I guess, it's okay for a business to call customers thieves, they will now not serve me and refuse to believe that a driver can make a mistake. I was floored and I just want people to know that if they make a mistake be prepared to have them refuse delivery and cause you time and stress to get a refund.. Customer service is still important correct. She screamed at me and said "pay her for Sunday and she will deliver again" if that isn't calling me a thief. My order with tip was 34 dollars. I have been ordering from This place for several years now. I have referred many of my own clients during this time. I ordered a few months back and after I had to call to find out where my order was, I was told they had no delivery drivers. Ok I get that, with covid and all, I understand. Tonight I ordered again and 45 minutes goes by and I get an email that they are "out of power" and couldn't reach me by phone and instructed me to call the restaurant. So I called and the man that answered told me that I lived to far. I reminded him that he advertised free deliver within 5 miles, he said his driver didn't like to drive that far. I asked him if his delivery drivers ran his business for him? He again said his driver didn't like to go that far. It's 3.5 miles. This is getting ridiculous. Now we can't even get Chinese food delivered because the driver says "it's too far". With as bad as things have been I would think that this business would try to get all the business if could. We have had the Mongolian beef, pork fried rice, egg rolls, pot stickers, General Tsos. My husband really likes all their beef dishes.
