    Dry Fry String Bean

We came to Highland Noodles in Frisco on July 4th to celebrate America's birthday. Highland Noodles is located in a strip mall area that resembles a mini Chinatown with many Asian food options. Ambiance: Highland Noodles has an open concept and there is divided space in the restaurant except for the booths along the walls. They have 3 TVs over an open glass kitchen where you can see the chefs preparing the food. The open concept is nice and inviting. Parking: Parking is not an issue here as the strip mall area has plenty of free parking aliens the restaurant. Service: The service is very good. Our waters were always full and our table was cleaned of finished dishes immediately. Food: Highland Noodles has a digital menu and you order for your table from your phone which is convenient. They know your table based on the table number and QR code you scan. We ordered the below dishes: Beef Noodle Soup: Tge beef noodle soup was delicious and had hand cut noodles and a good amount of beef. The broth wasn't too salty yet still had a lot of flavor. Mongolian Beef Hand Cut Noodles: this dish had their hand cut noodles topped with Mongolian Beef. These were the same hand cut noodles that the beef noodle soup had and topped with Mongolian beef, the dish was flavorful and massive in size. Chicken and Corn Steamed Dumplings: The chicken and corn dumplings had a lot of flavor and came with a side of hot chili oil for dipping. The chicken was seasoned well and the dumpling wrapper was super thin but full of meat! Xiao Long Bao: the soup dumplings came with 5 dumplings per order and had a side of vinegar. This was not our favorite dish. The broth was light on flavor but if you're craving soup dumplings, this will cure your craving. Dry Fried String Beans: This was one of our favorite dishes. The string beans were crisp yet soft and had so much flavor from the garlic and a little bit of kick from the Sichuan peppers. Would definitely recommend ordering these! Sichuan Wontons in chili oil: the wontons in chili oil were good. The wrapper on the wontons was super thin and full of meat. The Sichuan flavor was good but not super spicy so if you're looking for spice, ask them to spice it up for you more than normal. Salted Egg Yolk Buns: for July 4th, we got a free order of salted egg yolk buns and these were delicious and not just because they were free! These were so good! The salted yolk in the middle was the perfect balance of salty and sweet and the bun was super soft. Do not leave without trying these! I highly recommend Highland Noodles for their reasonable prices, delicious food and large serving portions. We were so full when we left. Their food is made to order and is packed with great flavor. Come here for a variety of good Dim Sum, dumplings and of course, the hand pulled noodles.

This place is pretty good. The hand pulled Lanzhou noodles was nice and I enjoyed the oily noodles that you can choose to add protein to. They include some shredded potato and cucumber appetizer as part of lunch too.

They were pretty empty for lunch on a weekday so I was sat right away & the service was attentive. You order off a QR code & the food was delicious & a good portion. Very cool ambiance inside, I'm excited to try it again!

More fat and cartilage than beef.

Service was fine and staff is friendly. But something was off about the Lanzhou beef noodle soup. It was amazing and near perfect every time I had it before but the meat was full of cartilage and fat, making it difficult to eat and enjoy. It was actually pretty bad. Broth was fine but I had to spit out the crappy parts every bite. This dish and mostly everything else was overly priced for what it is. I recently had this in nyc for a few dollars less! Noodles are hand made and I like it, but now that I compare with places in Asia, and nyc. This is definitely the most expensive noodle house Ive tried. Even more than din tai fung. This recent experience will likely be my last here.

I always love this place , my favorite place to go when it's come hand pull noodle soup

(Tom Cruise voiceover) Whenever I'm on a mission to satisfy that craving for fantastic Chinese cuisine, I head to Highland! The vibe is place to enjoy great hand pulled noodles, Chinese dishes, and yes...Dim Sum! Yes, ladies! Dim Sum! I love this place! And yes I've been a regular since 2023! The service is top notch & QR enhanced! Xinpei warmly greeted us! He is fabulous! The Cucumber appetizer is absolutely divine! Crunchy! Garlicky goodiness! Braised Beef Nood Soup! Neu Rou Mien! So hearty! And the noodles! The noodles here are worth breaking every low carb oath! Spicy Beef Shank appetizer! Cold...and calculatedly DELISH! Shrimp Dumplings! Sumptuous! Chicken Feet! The flavor is perfect! Xiao Lung Bao! The secret reason I come here is the exquisite XLB. Shhhhh. Would order everything again! Duì! Hao chi! Woohoo! (This review will self-destruct in 5..4...3..2..1 Poof!)

I tried the beef noodle, and my son went for the shrimp fried rice. The food was... fine -- not terrible, not life-changing -- just okay. There was some mysterious ingredient in my noodles that I think was a vegetable, but I wasn't brave enough to confirm. The veggies were alright, noodles did their job, and the service was genuinely nice -- smiles, refills, the whole deal. The ambiance? Also nice! Cozy enough that I almost forgot about the noodle mystery. I'll definitely come back to test-drive some other dishes from the menu. Hopefully next time I won't need a magnifying glass to identify what's in my bowl.

Very cute place, great service, friendly staffs. We liked the online order, very user friendly. Let's start with the food- chili wonton had good flavors, caviar siu mai was great!!!, the hand pull braised beef noodles was delicious ( I added a little bit of chili sauce, it made a huge difference) Definitely be back when we're in the area

The spicy crispy fish was outstanding. It was crisp and not greasy like some fired food. We will definitely be back.
    Craig H.

The service was excellent and the food very fresh and favorable. We had the Jalapeno beef which was very tender and a nice quality meat. The crispy fish was delicious and not to greasy. We will definitely be back for more.

We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 7 p.m., and surprisingly, we were the only customers there, considering it was peak dinner time. We also discovered that we needed to pre-order the duck in advance. Luckily, the lady informed us that there was one available for us, but it would take about 30 minutes. We ordered the crispy cucumber salad, xiao long bao, and the dry-fried string beans. The dry-fried string beans were my favorite. The string beans had a delightful crisp texture and a flavorful taste. The cucumber salad was also good, but some parts were a bit soggy. The XLB skin was too thick and chewy, and it didn't taste like the usual soup dumplings, which was disappointing. I was excited for the duck, but I was honestly disappointed when it arrived. The portions were quite small, considering it was a whole duck. It wasn't carved tableside, which was a letdown. Some parts of the duck were dry, and the skin wasn't crispy enough. To add to the disappointment, they charge extra for almost everything. If you want more pancakes or their homemade duck sauce (which tasted like black bean sauce), you'll have to pay an additional $5. Another thing to note is that they are BYOB, so you can bring your own alcohol. However, the menu pictures on Yelp are outdated, and they only offer whole Peking duck, not half orders. Overall, the food was just okay, and I'll probably try a different spot when I'm in the mood for duck again.

First, many of the dishes lacked the authenticity. The hot and sour soup wasn't sour at all and was overwhelmed by the flavor of sesame oil. The black bean noodles tasted like instant noodles you could make at home, and we ended up adding black vinegar ourselves just to bring some acidity and balance to the dish. The sweet chili shrimp also didn't taste fresh. At the end of our meal, we literally said "this tasted like Chinese buffet food." The service and dining environment made the experience even worse. Throughout our meal, we constantly heard dishes being slammed around from servers cleaning tables. At one point, something was dropped so hard that dishes shattered across the floor. A trash cart was parked right next to our booth while we were eating, and the staff even started mopping the floor directly in front of us during the lunch rush. I understand that restaurants often hire seasonal staff during the summer, but proper training is still important. The way the dishes were handled throughout our meal was loud, chaotic, and disruptive, making it difficult to enjoy our dining experience. It's unfortunate because our first experience of this restaurant was great, but this visit fell well short of our expectations.

Dim sum has become an expensive endeavor at a lot of places these days, so glad to see an affordable spot. There's no push carts here, so everything is made to order, so you won't get the instant gratification of smelling scents and getting a ticket marked and food on the table, but I rather get it fresh every time. We got a ton of the classics: shu mai, rice rolls, beef flat noodle, taro dumplings, radish cake, sticky rice. All were honestly average - nothing that will blow your socks off, but texture is good, seasoning maybe a bit on the lighter side, but you can fix that yourself with the chili sauce and soy sauce at the table.
