My annual tradition is going to The Crab Zone for my birthday. The Crab Zone is one of the original…read morecrab restaurants in Stockton before others started popping up here and there. I've tried most of them and they just can't match the creamy garlic butter sauce on the crab that The Crab Zone has perfected. I always order the Dungeness crab (garlic butter of course) and my daughter ordered the traditional and zesty, Spicy Cajun sauce. I have to say, the crabs were pretty good in size, very meaty and very tasty. We ordered the fried calamari for an appetizer which tasted freshly made. We both ordered the peach lemonade that had fresh pieces of chopped peaches in the drink. Very tasty. The crab comes with choices of corn, potatoes and sausage that you expect in a crab boil. The hot link sausage is my favorite. I also ordered a side order of the garlic noodles. I love garlic noodles but these are a little thin and dry and don't preserve as well when cooled down. I would love to try the shrimp, mussels and clams but the crab was more than enough. The service is spectacular. The owner is so nice. Her kindness makes her my secret crush....but let's just keep that between us. The ambience is trendy, sporty, divey -just perfect for the locals and regulars. They were playing a nice soundtrack and had the World Cup playing on the tv. While everything about The Crab Zone is spectacular - the Dungeness crab is a bit pricey. $250 was the price tag (not including tip) and about $40 more than last year. But no complaints because The Crab Zone is delicious.

To be honest, I haven't been here in years because I was never a fan of their seafood boil sauce…read more Saw their instagram recently and decided to give it a try again. Garlic noodles - 5/10 too plain. If they add the garlic sauce from the Cajun wings, that would definitely elevate the whole dish! Cajun wings - 7/10 it was good with the garlic sauce that's came on it Crawfish - 10/10 they were big and tasted fresh! Shrimp - 9/10 head on shrimps were really big! Lots of flavor. My only dislike was the sauce. Extremely too watery for my liking. The spice level is there, and the flavor is there in the boil water. I am more of a saucy, Cajun, garlicky person. Overall... Service was great. Vibes are cool inside. Thank you Crab Zone!

They've been around for over 30 years so that's a statement on its own. Place is big (lots of seating), bright with natural light. Service casual with a nice wine/cocktail menu, cloth napkins and bread service. The early evening visit I went was super quiet and it seemed like the servers knew all the regulars in there. I like that vibe. Glass of Pinot Gris ($10/4.5*) Anytime I travel around and dine I try find if a local wine is available. I saw they had this unique white wine from a Lodi winery so I immediately went with that. Cool, crisp, slight stone fruit aroma with a minerally finish. Love those traits in a white wine with seafood. Cajun Shrimp ($20/3.5*) Upon arrival for the price I initially thought it was an iffy portion for the price. 6 smallish shrimps (1 n a half bites per shrimp). Very simply prepared, grilled lightly with just a smidge of cajun seasoning then served with 2 sauces (a cocktail and tartar). But as I ate these, I did start to like them more and more. The seasoning was not bold but did work well with the grill flavor. And a dab of creamy tartar sauce complimented the spiced-grill flavor nicely, and it paired super nice with the pinot gris. These ended up being better than I had initially perceived. Clam Chowder (4.5*) I chose a cup of chowder as it comes with an entree. A salad can also be had if you wanted. But I found their chowder to be quite ideal. Perfect creamy texture without being too thick and stodgy, and great presence of potatoes and tender clams. The flavor could be more briny/clam-y but that's just my preference. Great with a dab of Tabasco and a dip from their hearty table bread. Snapper Filet ($24/4*) Thin filet seasoned very mildly if any at all. Chose for it to be grilled versus fried or sauted. But you have choices here which I applaud. But it was so mild that I took a half pat of butter and melted it on top of the filet, sprinkled with salt and a squeeze of lemon. Totally amped up the dish. Next time I think I'll try a more involved dish like a seafood pasta. Served with nicely steamed veggies and red potatoes which I find comforting with simple seafood. Too full for dessert and their offerings did look promising. I visit my retired aunt and uncle in this town a couple times per year. I think I'm gonna include this place as part of our options for dining outs. See ya again Bud's, well played.

Lunch time so she chooses Bud's a long standing restaurant located in the Lincoln Center. Walking in and looking around, you get that old school vibe where a more mature crowd would dine for lunch and talk business. We were greeted and sat immediately, followed by waitress coming by to take our drink order. We placed our order: Fish & Chips (no coleslaw) for me and my wife chose the catfish platter. Restaurant provided bread (supposedly sourdough but couldn't tell by smell or taste) and butter prior to our meal. Food arrives and my fish looked (like fish sticks) & smelled like something out of a frozen box, luckily after a bite the fish was fresh but unseasoned. And because it was unseasoned, the only thing I could taste was the lemon I squeezed on top. My fries were salted which helped . My wife had a nice piece of fried catfish that was unseasoned too with steamed veggies and a side of rice that was very dry. Our waitress kept tabs on us during stay which was probably the highlight of our visit. Not sure if this was an off day for their kitchen but when a staple like Fish & Chips at a seafood restaurant is excused poorly IMO then it's time to go back to the drawing board and hold the kitchen to a higher standard.

And I love it! Garlic Bro's is a not so hidden local favorite that has become much more popular through the years. It sits right on the Delta for a perfect water-front view for outside dining and those lucky enough to get the huge bay window seating on the inside. I can order a full meal just on the appetizers alone. Ive tried them all. The fried raviolis and the grilled duck wraps (in bacon) are among my favorites. Garlic Bro's has a unique selection of oven baked pizza's but when I come to Garlic Bro's, it's all about the entree's for me. My all-time favorite is the grilled garlic steak. It is the best rib eye steak in Stockton. I order mine blackened (crispy outside) with the brown mushroom gravy that comes in a side dish. For sides, I order the garlic mashed potatoes. They taste creamy good by itself but remember the mushroom brown gravy I ordered for the steak? It's really for my garlic mashed potato's. A perfect combo. Consider this a Pro Tip. My other side is the green death pasta. You have to request it (another Pro Tip). I've tried pesto pasta everywhere and it's only this delicious at Garlic Bro's. The honorable mention is the grilled pork steak. The best pork steak in Stockton. The grilled lamb chops are good - just not as great as the other two entrees....but I'm a very tough critic when it comes to lamb chops. One thing to know at Garlic Bro's is they don't water down the mixed drinks. You definitely get what you pay for. And the price tag is actually pretty reasonable. Garlic Bro's can get very busy so come early for good seats and parking - because they don't take reservations.

I have no regret getting the trio as it was very delicious and awesome!!! The lobster was tender and juicy! The grilled salmon and shrimp were both delish!!
