I went there on a Sunday night for my daughter's college graduation. She wanted to come back home after her graduation and go to Chef Freddy's Table for a delicious meal. We have been here several times before and we are excited to celebrate this accomplishment. When we arrived, the restaurant did not seem to know we had a reservation. The restaurant was mostly empty, so there was no issue getting a table. Once we were sat, we were offered water but no other soft drinks. Bottles of wine were opened but there was nothing to keep the wine chilled. After being at the table for over 10 minutes, I needed to ask for menus. We needed to ask repeatedly for water and at one point, I went to the back of the restaurant to get the water for the table. It was hot in the restaurant and the music was loud. The music was changed erratically throughout the meal until near the end of the meal, when there was no music or ambience. So odd! The food received was delicious. There was an issue of my ordering the pork chop but being served a lamb chop. I know the difference! The staff insisted I was given a pork chop. I did not eat it. By that time, the other people at my table were done with their food. I went to speak with the server discreetly at the back of the restaurant in attempts to resolve my concerns. The server returned to the table several times to argue about what we spoke about and insist I take a dessert and drink wine. I did not have an entree due to the incorrect meal being served and the insistence that I was served the correct meal. I made it clear that this was a special event but there was no attention given to that, not even a 'congratulations' on her dessert plate. Ultimately, Chef Freddy's Table was generous with the amount they deducted from the check but that wasn't the point of our visit. The point was to have a positive experience to celebrate an accomplishment. I am so disappointed! Suggestion: Maybe not go there on a Sunday, call the restaurant versus booking online or just adjust your expectations if this is a special event. read more

Disappointing. Have been here many times but tonight was off..... Waiter provided "specials" and then was never seen again until asking for the bill. Service was very spotty but many different people showing up which created confusion. Gentlemen taking our order was not cognizant of the menu/specials. Ordered a Surf & Turf "special" but was brought the menu regular Surf & Turf. (If he thought that was what I wanted, maybe we should have asked how I like the filet cooked!) Special was bbq. Also I provided the "Special occasion" on the reservation as my wife's retirement ...... no point in doing so..... was never acknowledged. 07/15/2025 Came to Morristown for a doctor visit and stopped by for an early dinner. We started with their Summer salad and the Belgian clams with scallions, cherry tomatoes and a cream sauce. Both excellent! My wife ordered the Berkshire pork chops, stuffed with brie cheese and escarole with Grand Marnier, cranberry reduction and mint-scented whipped potatoes. We both love brie as well as pork chops, but putting the two together didn't work for her (or me). Sounded great, but would have preferred nicely salted. Also... the mashed potatoes it came with had mint sprinkled through it. First time we'd seen that combination and not really a fan of that combo. I had the shrimp/scallops over linguini, which was good... but not as good as the Creole style Jambalaya with shrimp & scallops I had list time we visited. Our servers were very friendly and even a little entertaining. We like Fredy's and am sure we'll come back here soon. It is a BYOB! read more

We were in town for a wedding and my husband was nice enough to book us a reservation at this restaurant. It was a great decision. The ambiance is very nice with nice separation between tables and booths. The decor is also nice. The regular menu offers a good variety of appetizers, salads and entrees, and there was also a specials menu. We split the stuffed mushrooms appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. For my entree I had the strip steak au povre. It also came with asparagus and yuca fries. I loved it all. My husband had the shrimp and scallops pasta dish. It came with some really big shrimp. He loved it. We were too full for dessert but were given a gift card for next time because we were celebrating my birthday. That was a very nice touch. read more

This was our pick for a birthday celebration. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Friday evening and the place was fairly quiet (the rainy day could have been a factor). As the evening progressed the tables started filling up. The food was delicious and the flavors hit all the right spots. The quail with ground bison was perfect! The Jambalaya had a slight kick, just enough to hit the back of the throat. The seafood paella was my favorite with the layers of flavor and enhanced by the perfect amount of saffron. Portion sizes for the entrées were generous. The pistachio truffle was not overly sweet and went well with the strong cappuccino. The cappuccino creme brulee was different, and we felt the amount of cream may have overpowered the flavor of the creme brulee. The presentation of all dishes from start to finish was evidently done with care. While the staff were all friendly, there was a long wait before someone came over to either check on us or get our orders for each course. This seemed odd since the restaurant was not busy at the time. Parking: Street parking (if you're lucky) or the parking lot of the Hyatt across the street. We definitely liked our experience at Chef Freddy's Table and will be returning. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy good food. read more

My wife and I went to Chef Fredy's to celebrate her birthday while we were traveling in New Jersey, and it was a great experience. We were welcomed quickly and the host (maybe Fredy) wished her a happy birthday and provided us our choice of seats, as we arrived early around 5:00 p.m. and there were plenty of tables available. We chose a beautiful table away from the window, ultimately the place was full when we left around 7:00. As the waiter quickly approached us, we realized that Chef Fredy maybe his own worst enemy - this is the kind of restaurant that Chef Gordon Ramsey would be frustrated by, as there is a very large standard menu, a separate specials menu, and then the waiter read us off a series of other special items that were available that night. My wife and I looked at each other wondering how one restaurant could execute with so many food options, but on the night we visited the chef did a wonderful job. My wife and I shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer which the restaurant kindly divided and served individually. It was quite tasty and delivered hot fresh out of the oven. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta which was very flavorful with a large portion of seafood and perfectly prepared pasta. We had no room for dessert, but we were offered a gift card to revisit the restaurant next time, since it was a birthday celebration. The service was a bit inconsistent - it was wonderful up until the moment the food was delivered, and then we kind of felt ignored afterwards. I'm not sure our waiter came back until about 30 minutes after we finished our meal, just to deliver the check. It seems that he was multitasking, since as we left I saw him folding place settings into freshly clean napkins. For those of you who cannot find a parking spot on the street (like us), there is a public parking garage right around the corner, or you can valet park at the hotel right across the street. With an average price per person of about $75 along with a small credit card surcharge, this is a higher priced venue. That said I would highly recommend you to try Chef Fredy's. read more

We ordered NY steaks, everyone enjoyed them and did say they were cooked to perfection. The food was good but there were some parts I felt like could be better: I shared the stuffed mushrooms with my mom (5/5 and they even brought it out on two plates!) This is a great spot to celebrate a special occasion and enjoy a nice night out in Morristown. Huge long list of chef specials and the main menu. You can tell they've got some regulars there that know what they want and order well. You really can't go wrong with so many dishes on this menu, but you can also venture out as they have some unique meats and options that I'm sure would be prepared to perfection. Keep in mind it's BYOB, but there's a few spots on the same road you can grab a bottle to bring in with you. This spot is definitely on the fancier side, and parking can be tough. However, the service was extremely friendly and accommodating. I would recommend reserving a table ahead of time as this spot is popular and well known! read more

We had a large rehearsal dinner at Chef Fredy's this past weekend, and I could not recommend them more!! They were super attentive, prepared, helpful, and the food was outstanding! They even boxed up our extra wine, vases, decor items, etc. so that we could pick them up later in the week when it was more convenient for us. I ended up at Chef Fredy's because I was staying at the Hyatt across the street. I went in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday. I was starving and didn't realize it was on the fancier side. I arrived in my sweatpants and was out of place, but they didn't kick me out. There were a couple large groups there. I was seated right away. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the blood orange salad with crab cake. It took quite some time to come out of the kitchen but once I finally got it, it was super good. When we wanted something (like eating utensils) we had to flag him down and he spoke little English as did the entire waitstaff. Not one time did anyone check on our table except to dump food and clear plates. FOOD- mediocre at best. Lamb chops- raw and tasteless. Lump crab should have lump crab ...or is it just me? The first time dining with my new co-workers and this was the perfect place. The ambiance is sophisticated but warm which allows for conversation. Service was A++ from having everything we needed to helping us order from the appetizers to dessert. Everything we ate was tasty, fresh, & delicious. The only problem I had was that I did not take pictures of everything we had. I really enjoyed my main course...PAELLA...which was AMAZING and hit all the senses!!!!! Looked beautiful, smelled amazing, and the moment it touched my mouth it was a tastebud party...oh yeah I could hear my happy heart because it's just great to be served such a wonderful meal :) The best part was having enough to eat the next day. I've been going to Chef Fredy's since co-owner Nestor was a 16-y.o. busser, and the restaurant was Tim Shafer Cuisine. Chef Fredy and his crew have never given up on delighting the customer! Have an allergy? Your problem isn't an obstacle to enjoying a safe and FABULOUS meal! We used to be regulars when we lived in the area. Six years ago we moved to Sussex County, and the travel time limits the frequency with which we enjoy this restaurant. We were told we had to order our drinks, appetizers and meals in one order as they were busy in the kitchen. What? BYOB in Morristown and not being on South Street also means parking can be more of a challenge. Headquarters Plaza is an option, but I chose the garage at 24 Cattano Ave which is only a short walk away and through some construction on the street right near the restaurant. For dinner on a Thursday night the place was relatively empty. For BYOB I have never seen the corks of wine bottles attached to the bottle after corking. Is this something the place does or was it just our amazing waiter I do not know. Anyway... the menu is accessed through a QR code. I assume they have printed ones for those that need but in the end our table didn't even need the QR code or a menu. The list of chef 'specials' was really all that was needed. It was a long list. Long enough that it was almost impossible to figure out what you wanted without asking for more information. Our waiter worked with us sorting things out in one of the most amazing customer-friendly ways I have seen for restaurants in general. He was brilliant! For a somewhat large group we had appetizers shared for the table that included the bacon, calamari, octopus, tuna tartar, and fig ravioli. All were amazing, but the bacon really stood out as a special presentation that was very different from anything I had before. I also had a mussel chowder and of all the things I had while there this is the one thing that I would say was good, but not great. This was my first time to come to Chef Freddy's. We brought my mother in law for a special lunch for Mother's Day - and it was indeed a special meal. We each had something difference and loved it. I had a duck special served with roasted vegetables and a lovely goat cheese mashed potatoes. I also had a very creative bread puffing for dessert - with coconut pineapple and chocolate. What a great choice! Fellow Yelp'ers recommended this gem, and it didn't disappoint. It's a BOB spot with zero alcohol available on premise, so plan for that. The food is great - I had a great Caesar salad, then the Pappardelle Chicken Pasta, then the NY-style cheesecake. The Caesar was fresh with house made dressing, and a perfect ratio of ingredients. The pappardelle was very good, but I would have used fresh shredded chicken instead of hours-old grilled breasts. The NY-style cheesecake was solid, but unremarkable. I wouldn't get it again. We were a party of 5 for lunch on Friday, 10/31/25. Louis our server was so accommodating. We were able to order from both the lunch and dinner menu. All of our choices were delicious. We were having lunch together before my stepmother returned to Costa Rica and Louis was kind enough to offer her dessert on the house. We will have to return for dinner with our husbands. Visited her during a weeknight dinner. I made reservations just in case too but didn't need them as it was not Full when I arrived nor when I left. I chose this restaurant to visit for the first time because there were some incredible reviews online about it. However incrementally as soon as I arrived I started down a spiral path of not having an enjoyable dinner for myself. As soon as I walked in no one greeted me no one welcomed me nor was anyone standing at the hostess stand. Rather there was a man sitting at a table on an iPad and his cell phone the entire evening nodding his head or calling others to come to the front to greet people and then seat them. My actual waiter was very friendly and kind however he was quite busy with the other tables and larger parties and they appear to be short staffed. I do empathize with that however the entire dinner I am looking directly at the man who remained sitting the entire time on his iPad and phone who never got up to help his coworkers. The menu was absolutely incredible the food was delicious and very generous in portions. The food quality alone would bring me back to have a very delicious meal. However I thought as I would walk out that the same man sitting down would at least think me or acknowledge me as I left. I was wrong he did not acknowledge me nor did he think me for coming in to have dinner there. I later went to the website to realize that he is some manager of the restaurant. Octopus could've used a little more charring but the salsa with it was delightful. For entrees we ordered the seafood trio and the braised short ribs and lobster. Both were very good and flavorful. Loved the presentation. Dessert was creme brûlée topped with gelato. What a treat. As the evening wore on the servers got very busy and forgot about us. We waited 40 mins to pay our check.
