Dining with Mickey and friends... Need I say more? This was definitely a very fun and interactive way to have dinner. Your best bet is to make reservations online to avoid long wait times. The coat for dinner is about $43 for adults so it is definitely a bargain if you're on the Disney dining plan. The food is decent and the desert bar looked amazing. Disney sure pays attention to details! The best part is getting greeted by Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, etc. when you're eating and getting the picture time without long the long lines at the parks. What a magical experience for our girls! It was their first time at Disney and they were enamored with the chef Mickey's experience. They loved watching the characters come out one by one and clapped along to the songs they played as they came out. The food was great and it was all you can eat. With COVID precautions, they bring the food to your table and you can request more of whatever item you'd like. We were able to snap pictures with the characters, of course, the characters remained 6 feet away but it didn't make it any less special. Overall, beautiful memories were made and we can't wait to come back. read more

Not worth the price. 10 year olds do not eat like adults ($50 plates) so that's the first turn off. Waited 30 minutes past reservation time. Our table was one of a handful that were in direct sunlight so we were cooking the entire time. The "buffet" includes an assortment of breakfast items around 1 circle area, and maybe you think there are more options on the other side of the circle...nope, the items are duplicated. The menu stated a beef brisket, only saw the ham no brisket. There were no additional "kid favorites". I feel for the price you pay there should have been an omelette station, or shredded cheese for your eggs. The ketchup was in a community bowl, didn't seem too sanitary vs. bottles on the table. The waiter says there are no special requests but then I see tables with special signage being brought things so confusion. Had to wait until after meal to be visited by the remaining characters. For 8 people at $500, not worth it. The only good part was we got to use our annual pass discount and happened to have some rewards. Won't be visiting again. read more

The food they bring out is horrible and for what they charge it's a crime. At least before you could get what you wanted as fast as you wanted. We ate here twice this week. The first time was 3 stars and the next closer to 5 so giving it a 4. Massive amount of food brought - pastries, yogurt, meat and cheese, fruit, bacon, ham, sausage, smoked sausage, scrambled eggs, egg white bakes, tots, potato casserole, waffles, and pancakes. The egg white bakes with salsa are terrific! No characters until December, but that was fine for us. The service was super slow the first day and no pastries brought. Second time was good. Great place for brunch buffet! This is located at the Contemporary Resort. We had a reservation, but had to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated. We sat in a section with booths and tables. Five characters--Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald--made their rounds at each table. They took pictures and signed autograph books. We were asked by a cast member if we had the opportunity to meet each character, and we did. The food selection was great because they had entrees for kids and grownups. There were desserts. Lots of them. I couldn't take only one. I had to try almost all of them. There was an abundance of food replenishments. The buffet always looked full of food, which was helpful. The place was clean, the ambience was just alright--not as whimsical and colorful as I thought it would be. Our waiter was the sweetest man alive. Great service of course! My family and I visited Chef Mickey's the last time we went to Disney, my sister had been there before so she recommend we eat dinner there one night. We had reservations for a late dinner and we waited only a few minutes to be seated after we checked in. Everything was nicely set up they explained to us about how the characters walked around to each table and what order we would be in. Each of the 5 characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, and Goofy) visited our table signed autograph books and took pictures, nothing felt rushed. We went here for dinner and I love the food, it was a nice break from the "staple food" (cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, pizza) they have at the parks. They had fish, plenty of vegetable and side options a carving station a kids section (Macaroni and cheese, fries, chicken nuggets) and a huge dessert table. This is a very cute spot and a very fun atmosphere for kids and families! When visiting during Covid-19 it was all you can eat at the table as opposed to a buffet and I saw that as a downside. It was overwhelming, good got cold, and some things we were too full or they were too cold for us to even try! The price is decent it being a character breakfast but it definitely in my opinion would of been better if you got to choose your selections and have it brought it gradually! i give this restaurant 3 stars for the characters, they do a great job. The low number of stars comes from the service or should I say lack of service. Our server never asked us if we wanted drinks and then tried to rush us out without asking if we wanted coffee or more drinks. Go for the characters, not necessarily the food! They have all the main Disney characters featured (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto--I've recently learned they're referred to as the "Fab Five" but I refuse to call them that on principal!) and do a great job of making sure that all of the characters visit each table and stay to pose for photographs. As for the food, it's fine. It's a buffet, so you naturally trade off quality for quantity, which means, stuff your face with good-not-great food. We were there for the "lunch" buffet, which means you can get pretty much any kind of breakfast or lunch food you want. They have the standard kid stuff (chicken nuggets, Mac-n-cheese, tater tots), standard breakfast stuff (eggs, shrimp and grits, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and of course, Mickey-shaped waffles), and some heartier dinner-type stuff like carving board turkey and salmon. There's a salad bar and fruit if you're so inclined but why waste precious stomach space at a buffet on 'healthy' stuff? There's also a big desert selection of cookies, pastries, and soft serve ice cream. They do have a pretty robust drink menu, because, let's be honest, you're going to need some booze surrounded by dozens of screaming kids! As with everything at Disney, it ain't cheap (really, it ain't cheap), but you'll leave with a full stomach, and hopefully 100 or so pics of your kids with the Disney gang, so hopefully that's worth it for you! read more

There is A LOT of hype about this place. I recently took my 5 year old there and well I must say the experience is AMAZING!! Now the reason for 3 stars? While the characters are great the food not so much. Its family style to your table and the kids get a different menu. Its $55/adult for dinner and I believe $36/per child. Kids get corn dogs, tater tots, broccoli and chicken nuggets... I dont know about you but I definitely did not want to pay $36 for fair food. Adult menu was prime rib, vegan rice, potatoes, turkey, and salmon and the food was just ok. If I ever do return its strictly for the experience and maybe trying their breakfast menu. read more

We love going to Chef Mickey's. Instead of waiting in line with tired kids to see the characters you get to sit and eat and the characters come to you. This time was for my 2 year olds birthday who LOVES Mickey Mouse and it was so worth it. Even the bigger kids (and adults) get excited to see the characters. The food is pretty good, it's not really the reason you are there anyway. But everyone always loves the Mickey waffles! I recommend going for Brunch, depending on if you are staying in the parks and if it is a late time, you can eat a good breakfast and then wait until your reservation to eat again. If it is an earlier reservation then you have a late breakfast/early lunch. But the brunch is cheaper than dinner but has the best of both breakfast and dinner foods. And you can order alcohol. Kinda disappointing as far as Disney character dining is concerned, and this is my 4th or 5th character dining experience with the Disney crew. I'd give a 2.5 for food, a 2 for service, 2 for ambience, and a 4 for the characters, for 3 stars overall. Food is what you'd expect for a buffet- food that's been sitting out for a little too long. That said, the smoked salmon and tofu was decent. Pierogis were surprisingly good. They also had cinnamon bread pancakes that were pretty good too. Carving station was ham with honey mustard on the side. It looked dry, but actually was moist and flavorful. Dessert was aplenty and some of the selections stood out more than others. The magical blondie bars were indeed magical. The Mickey mousse domes looked good but did not work well in practice: the Oreo cookie did not slice well with a fork and the mousse topping fell off of the cookie. Everything else was just okay. Service was god awful. It took forever for the server to greet us and give us drinks. He dropped our check off even before the characters visited our table, and didn't bring us my son's extra birthday treat (a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting) until we requested it. Character experience would have been 5 stars had it not taken so long. It was so inefficient. Most Disney character dining experiences will split up the cast so that half of the characters make their rounds at one half of the restaurant with the other half at the opposite side of the restaurant, and then the teams flip flop. This was not the case at Chef Mickey. Instead, all five characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto), all clad in chef attire, made their rounds together in one section of the restaurant at a time. Thus, our food was long gone and eaten by the time the characters visited our table. It took for freaking ever. Unfortunately, this is one of the few character dining experiences at Walt Disney World with the "original" cast, so if you're wanting to dine with Mickey, Minnie and crew, you will have to put up with the train wreck that is Chef Mickey. The restaurant is set in the Contemporary Resort, which is a super nice Disney hotel, but the restaurant decor itself is super cheesy and tacky looking. I wish I could give this zero stars but it is not possible. I get it, Disney could charge a $100 per person for this thing and people would pay it. The idea being that the kids get to see the characters. I get i, I just think for the amount of money Disney charges they could do a better job with the food. Years ago I went to the breakfast one and it wasn't bad, it is hard to mess pancakes and waffles. Dinner though, that's a whole different story. First it was buffet style where they bring traits to the table. A combination of salad, roast beef, salmon, something that looked like rice, vegetables, etc. For the kids a big portion of what it looks to be Kraft Mac n Cheese and frozen Purdue chicken nuggets. I can't honestly express how bad the food was. We spent close to $200 for food that I am not exaggerating was the worst meal I have had where I paid for it. My advice is, if you have the money to pay and you want pictures with the characters, who stopped by your table for pictures for about a min, that is fine, but honestly, I just don't think this thing is worth it. We went for dinner. The only thing worse than the food was the service. Not one time did our waitress return to check on things. We had to get another waitress to let her know we needed refills. Dinner dishes were never removed from the table before desert was brought. We had to ask to have the dinner dishes taken away as we were trying to hold our dessert plate in our hands. I definitely have fond memories of going to Chef Mickey's on my very first trip to Disney World, but this last time was not quite as great. It's pretty pricey for the quality of the food you get, but that's pretty expected. The food was nothing spectacular, your typical American foods you would expect at a standard buffet. I have to say the best part were the chicken nuggets I had at the children's station (that anyone can use!) I also do give 5 stars to the ice cream sundae bar just because I truly love ice cream (and all desserts). The dessert bar part was pretty awesome. They also brought my fiance' and I celebratory special engagement cupcakes which was a nice touch. Meeting the characters is also rather fun but I wish the characters would spend enough time for a few pictures with just adult groups, we noticed we weren't the only ones who felt rushed through the character meetings. Which when you pay for that as part of the experience is pretty disappointing. But to end the night, we left feeling sick and I actually got sick to my stomach in the resort room a few hours later. Luckily, I recovered to wake up early and hit the parks the next day but something I ate was not good :( The character experience is nice to do, but for the price and the food quality I wouldn't necessarily say this restaurant is a Disney must do! read more

I ate at Chef Mickey's Christmas Eve, and sadly I wasn't impressed. I'm sure before Covid it was amazing but at least during Covid, everything is served family style. Prime rib, salmon, chicken, potatoes, salad, bread, gnocchi, green beans and a dessert platter was served. We were allowed to ask for 2nds and 3rds which was awesome but there wasn't much variety. I absolutely hate giving out two star reviews, especially for a Disney restaurant, but unfortunately that was the quality of my experience at Chef Mickey's. Atmosphere: I have been to Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland in CA many times and have been able to feel the true magic of Disney character dining every single time. However, this is not the case for Chef Mickey's at all. Currently, Disney's Contemporary Resort is undergoing massive renovations, which means that you can hear all of the clanking in the dining area (which also has an open ceiling, making it so that you can both hear and see the construction going on while you eat). In terms of the actual interior decor of the restaurant, the good Disney character vibes were, at least, present. A lot of portraits of Mickey, which would make anyone happy. The characters seemed to be in an abnormal rush to get through all of the tables. I understand that adjustments had to be made for COVID, but come on! I literally had to call in a manager so that I could get a picture with Pluto (from a distance of course). Food: The food here was absolutely horrible. I came for breakfast, so I was able to get a taste of eggs, chicken sausage, Mickey waffles, hashbrowns, brisket, pancakes, etc. None of it was special in any way, essentially being cafeteria-grade. Service: The service was just OK. My server's name was either Sharon or Shannon (I'm sorry that I cannot remember!). As the requests came in, I could sense a bit of frustration from her. Service started out good, but then went down from there. That sort of style of service just simply does not work at a buffet during COVID, it's up to the server to provide for the diner since leaving the table to obtain food is not an option. This was our second visit (2015 and 2017) to Chef Mickeys for dinner at the Contemporary Resort. Interestingly enough we would have the same table and waitress during both visits. The characters are a big part of the draw. You are getting the heavy hitters here. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. All are willing to take pictures and sign autographs. They spend a few minutes at each table. Food. There is a little of everything here. Carver is cutting prime rib which was ok. A little overcooked and small portions. Turkey as well. Sides were tasty. Thank god for the meal plan because I would never pay what they ask without it. Even with the meal plan the bill was around 150 dollars (3 adults and a child). Overall the service is good but I was a little underwhelmed this visit compared to last. My only piece of advice is to walk back to the park. There is a separate security entrance that gets you in quite quickly for a return into the park. read more

Service was prompt and friendly despite the insane noise and constant dancing by the characters. I don't know how the servers stay composed! If I worked there I feel like it would be akin to staying at the Overlook Hotel, if you get what I'm saying. For food, they really did have an excellent selection, including a variety of rolls, salads, pasta, rice, and various meat entrees (including a carving station). I admit I also took a few items from the kids station, because those tater tots were crispier than the microphone the fat kid ate in the original Willy Wonka. Characters seemed readily available, so if you have kids or are into meeting sweaty people in costumes (no judgment), this is probably a great place for you. My family and I have been coming to Chef Mickeys for about 12 to 13 years. The food has gone downhill significantly. Whereas the restaurant used to be a Buffet, now it is family style, and they bring you the food out in large metal plates. The food was cold, and the selection was very poor. I have never, never been as disappointed by Chef Mickey's as I was for this visit. It's so sad. My kids are used to really enjoy going to chef Mickey's, but this was the worst dining experience I've ever experienced a Disney's. The service was great, food quality was horrendous, and embarrassing. I'm only giving one star as you cannot leave zero stars. It's just so sad.It's just so sad. On the other hand, we went to whispering canyon last night, and we had the barbecue family skillet. It was delectable. I cannot say enough good things about the food or our server Lynnsay. She was excellent. However, I was slightly disappointed by the lack of Christmas decorations. We have been coming to the whispering Canyon Café now for 22 years. I would do 2.5 stars if I could, but I will just be generous and round up. Let's talk pro's! First, making a reservation on the My Disney Experience App is super easy! You can make the reservation and edit it right on the app without talking to a person. The App makes life a lot easier. When you arrive at Chef Mickey's you first check in and then you go get your picture taken. The picture is a big plate and they have fun signs for people to hold. You then wait in a seating are until you go to your table. Chef Mickeys takes you to your table and you are in 1 of several rooms. This is nice because the characters come to each room and spend time at each table. We got to spend some time with Pluto, Donald, Goofy and of course Mickey and Minnie Mouse! My 2 year old niece was scared silly, but the older boys loved it! Service and our interactions with the characters was awesome! Now the food. It is mostly kid food and this makes since because it is a kid place. The food was not very good. They had a mix between breakfast and lunch foods since we were there for a late lunch. They had a kids section on mac and cheese, tatortots, Chicken Tenders and one other item. They had the breakfast station, pasta, and salads. Also they have a huge dessert station. The food was not the best, it was just okay and the food lacked lots of flavor. The price for Chef Mickeys is expensive. It was around $55 per person. WOW that is a lot. I get its a buffet with characters, but the kids were so excited they did not eat a thing and were charged as adults. I see a lot of negative reviews and I feel bad because we have always had an excellent experience. In fact, it's one meal we talk about after we get home and try hard to get a reservation each trip. We have been pre-covid with the buffet, but prefer it now as a family style. It's more relaxing and I like how the characters come out but as two adults we don't need to get photos with them and don't miss that part. I get the disappointment if you are a kid, but these are the times. We love the food - Mickey waffles are my favorite. The cheesy potatoes are also excellent, along with the sausage (chicken and pork, I believe), beef brisquet, pancakes, banana french toast (I am not a fan of this, but that's me), eggs (I don't eat them)..............all good and we get our fill each time! Having been probably 5-6X now, we only once had less than excellent service. She just failed to come back to check on us, but we had enough and were good. Last trip we had another couple with us with an allergy and the chef came out along with the waitress to discuss it, come up with a plan, and to make sure she was comfortable with everything. Chef Mickey's is a bustling, loud buffet located inside Disney's Contemporary Resort. I'm rating it three stars because while the food is actually pretty good, it is very expensive for what you are getting. You are really paying to interact with the characters. That's the main idea. The breakfast buffet has your typical morning fare like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and Mickey waffles. But they do have a yummy hash brown casserole that I look forward to when my daughter wants to do a character meal. The service is harried as they try to turn over the tables fast along with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto visiting each table. But the servers are nice and really quite good at what they do, despite the frenetic pace. The one good thing about buffet style dining besides being all-you-care-to-eat, is that you can eat at whatever pace you'd like. If you want to get in and out of there fast, you can. Or choose to linger a while. Reservations are an absolute must, as you will most likely be turned away without them if you walk-up. And a little pro-tip, if you make your reservations in that sweet spot between breakfast and lunch, you can sample each of the meal offerings, as there is no down time between services. We had a lovely first experience at Chef Mickey's. We had never been prior to this so I have nothing to compare to as far as free COVID. Our family really loved the family style dining. Test this is much better than trying to drag around a bunch of kids to get their food. It was nice to be able to try everything and we certainly found our favorites. There is a huge variety of food and I think even the pickiest eaters will find something to eat. As a family that does not eat pork, we love that they were able to offer us chicken, sausage and turkey bacon. The star of the show for us where the breakfast potatoes! We were able to order them without the bacon crumble And they were just delicious. I could eat those all day! The character interactions were really nice and my kids had a blast! The best part of the whole experience, however, is that my sister and I had two separate reservations for our families. I am a party of six and she's a party of four. We asked at check in if they would be able to see this together and they said if we didn't mind waiting a couple extra minutes they certainly could. The wait was not bad at all and we got to explore the stores in the lobby and had a great time watching the monorails come in and out.
