My wife went to Tiki bar for lunch today and I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich was was very good but she ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp Taco. While waiting for our order the waitress delivered the shrimp tacos to the couple seated next to us, and we heard them complain about the tacos and amount of shrimp. We had 5:00 reservations 3 people. We were seated promptly. We waited forever for our food. The service was very very slow. The lobster tails were overcooked in some parts and undercooked in other parts. We had 3 chef mikes gift cards. We had difficulty using them, because we wanted the tip included and they couldn't figure out how to do that. We ended up having to use a credit card. Very poor. read more

Over priced, over hyped. Bad oysters (2 of 12) on the raw bar order and bad oysters smell like sewer so no excuse. The crab soup is good. The lump crab pasta is good but not special - the base is just a basic cheese sauce - like mac and cheese with a few crispy prosciutto sprinkled on top. It would have been so much better with a richer sauce that included prosciutto (and other ingredients) in the base. We won't return and wouldn't recommend this to locals - it seems to cater to summer folks and those without a discerning palette. read more

Great menu and great food! Make sure you make a reservation because it fills up pretty quickly. I had the whipped ricotta appetizer and the braised short rib and both were amazing! My dirty martinis were just how I like them - with Bleu cheese stuffed olives! The only complaint would be that they ran out of Brussels. We were one of the first customers there with a 5:00 reservation. If they knew they were out from the night before, can't extra be bought the next day? ShopRite and Stop and Shop aren't that far away and Brussels were listed on more than 2 menu items. Or, maybe, print out new menus with the substituted veg? Disappointed to say the least. I made reservations for two at 7:15 the day prior, we got seated right away then proceeded to sit and wait for over 20 minutes. No waitresses had come over, no one even dropped off waters. After 30 minutes we decided to get up and leave. Not the mention the ambiance isn't the best. Yes your right on the beach but the outdated restaurant could use some cleaning. Additionally the entrance to the restaurant is also the entrance to the motel on the floor above. My gf and myself ate here for our first date and it was excellent! We just got entrees and a couple of drinks and jumped right in so I forgot to take a picture unfortunately. Our waiter Mario was the best! Very attentive and polite. They practiced Covid precautions. We ate outside and watched the sun set on the beach. I had the Chilean sea bass with grilled artichoke hearts, Japanese eggplant and fried shoestring onions and it was excellent! The sauce was a creamy French-style sauce and it was very rich. She had a special with salmon, shrimp and guacamole and can't stop talking about it. We're going to come back every year. Well worth the price (a bit pricey) and just a great experience! read more

Killer views of the beach and ocean plus a full bar are the big draws here (5 *). The kitchen turns out slightly-over-the-top American seafood and steak dishes, also an interesting assortment of bar food relabeled tapas plus yummy desserts (4 *). But service was as slow as watching the tide go out. (zero *). Expensive too, every entree $25 and up. This is a place to drink hard and shout at each other over raw oysters on ice. You can almost forget conversation. Despite noise baffles (they are trying), the dining room is loud, Loud, LOUD. We visited on a Monday night in late June. That's very close to high season so of course the dining room got packed. We arrived at 6:30 and drinks came reasonably quickly, but we didn't get our entrees until 8:10, and dessert didn't come out until 9pm. That's just too long when you take the non-drinking retired crowd. I owe this review some notes on food of course :) The lobster tamale was huge, the size of a burrito (look at my picture) and slathered in a hot and delish tomatillo salsa. But the interior was wildly overcooked little bits of lobster, a poor match for the heavy spice load. Not worth the $9. The Christie crab tacos were tiny (didn't see that one coming did ya? :) but tasty (ahem, no comment). Oysters, clams and shrimp over squid spaghetti was delish, loaded with sliced garlic and bits of tomato. No closed (bad) shells in the whole batch. A gluten-free dish of scallops and potatoes had very large scallops perfectly sauteed, but some heavy sauce on top wasn't really necessary. Vegetarians can look forward to a really outstanding bowl of udon noodles, loaded with small black mushrooms and other veggies plus a generous helping of kim chi, this was not an obvious choice in a seafood place but I can recommend it highly. Just for grins we had the bonus experience of sitting next to a table of three fifty-something guys who were way way drunk and impossibly loud. The manager (I swear he was a double for Paulie Walnuts) warned them to quiet down, then the manager THREW THEM OUT, then the manager apologized to all the tables close by, and then the manager sent out dessert to us. Dessert was great, but, ah, it was awkward for all, you just don't expect dive-bar behavior in such an upscale and expen$ive place. FWIW the dress code is all over the place. Vacation Started off with a bang, and by bang I mean a 14 oz Lobster tail over lobster butter mashed potato's!! The Crispy Asparagus was a wonderful touch as well. The flavor and presentation was neck and neck with Del Frisco's in NY, a huge compliment! For Starters: 1) We went with the Tuna Lollipops, which quite frankly, was just delicious and succulent. 2) The ABG Sampler: Fried Calamari which may be best in the land, crispy and dangerously delicious. The dumplings were to die for, then topped with mini crab cakes and the lightest battered shrimp tempura... The Sampler is a "10" 3) Shrimp Cocktail - The Size of your head... What wonderful flavor and a fantastic cocktail sauce. 4) Oysters - WOW! Second Visit that week: I went with the 5 Peppercorn Crusted Ahi Tuna... I asked for Blue Rare and that's exactly what I got... Having frequented many of the Jersey Shore restaurants, I was very excited for this experience as I've heard nothing but good things. In a word... meh. Let me first touch on curb appeal - in order to get to this place it requires a 400 yard walk through what can only be described as the prison of motels. It's shady, to say the least. After wandering through the government housing project that is the 'hotel' we made our way to the bar. The bartenders were very nice and the atmosphere was great. If you look hard enough, you can almost see the ocean. On to Dinner - there were 7 of us with a 730 reservation. We were seated promptly at 730 at a table near the window with a decent view of the ocean. The server was very friendly and attentive. Drinks came out fast. Our appetizers also came out quickly and they were decent, nothing to write home about, but decent. This is where the word 'quick' will be replaced with 'glacial'. It took every bit of an hour from the time we finished our app's to when our entrees hit the table. At this point, we were annoyed, over dinner, and to top it off, the food wasn't good. I had the San Francisco Cioppino - the first mussel had the texture of a shoe. I tried to get into it but each bite got worse and worse. It had clearly sat a solid 30 minutes in a window. It was dead. I sent it back and opted to not replace it. Not one visit from a manager who HAD to have known our experience was going down hill. I had little bites of everyone else's plates and they were abysmal attempts at fine dining. The stuffed veal chop was over cooked, the king crab legs were over cooked, etc. etc. We passed on desert and hightailed it out of there. If I were in the neighborhood I might stop in for drinks and oysters at the bar. I would highly recommend passing on dinner. Stick with the Pizza places, you won't be disappointed and you won't be out $100 per person. read more

I called at 5pm and the receptionist said that my wait could be 45 mins to 2.5 hours long and Sundays can be busy. I drove there to make a put my name of the list but there was no wait. I drove back to pick up my family and arrived at the restaurant about 20 mins later. The receptionist was extremely casual and almost mocked me when I asked if you do anything special for birthdays. Her response was cold "we don't sing here". I had 1 vegetarian in my party. Our server said she could make the shrimp pasta without the shrimp and add veggies. we asked for it to be made spicy and she agreed. For the rest of the table, we ordered the hot sampler appetizer, the shishito peppers, 1/2 dozen oysters, the fish of the day (Halibut), the tapas Shrimp and the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna. Molten Lava cake for the birthday boy. Rating & review: 1) Pasta - horrible. It was pasta, veggies and olive oil. Pesto drizzle was so minimal that you could not taste it. The person could not even get through half the portion. It was so bad. They charged me the full price for a shrimp pasta with no shrimp. Unbelievable. 2) Hot Sampler - decent. everything tasted fresh and nice. dipping sauces were nice too. Calamari was sweetish . 3) Oysters - fresh 4) Shishito peppers - it was under the tapas section but the portion was huge. Too huge for small plates. 5) Fish of the day - Halibut with a salsa. The birthday boy really enjoyed this. 6) Tapas Shrimp - just ok. portion was substantially smaller that the other tapas order. 7) Tuna - i asked for medium and a little pink in the center. It came well done. It was chewy and we did not finish it. The asian sauce smothered all over it was too sweet. Would not recommend it. I informed the server that the tuna was cooked wrong and the pasta was really bad (she could see that we hardly ate it). She offered to make a new tuna, to which i declined as I did not want to wait while the rest of my family was already having their meal. Her response to the pasta was "oh, i'm sorry". We ordered a the Molten lava cake to share and the server brought it with a candle. My kids said that the Molten Lava from Domino's pizza was better than this one. I could not agree with them more. It was bad. We ate it but we have had so many better ones. When the server brought the check, the server said " dessert is on me because of the tuna and pasta". Wow... just like that the establishment expected that the $5 deduction made up for the poor quality of food. What was more surprising was them charging me $28 (price of shrimp pasta) for the vegetarian pasta! Would I go back - No Would I recommend - No There is really nothing great about this place. Great food with an ever better view on the south end of the island. This restaurant has a laid back atmosphere with a lovely live pianoman on this Wednesday evening that I happened to skipped across this popular Seaside Beach gem. Our waitress Caroline was an absolute darling! Super sweet and fun to talk to. She recommended a wonderfully delicious main entree, the filet mignon medallions- very good. The one thing I would say is that some of the dish ware / forks on my moms place setting were dirty. They immediately changed them out for fresh ones, but still. Although a little difficult to find the entrance, the ambiance of this Ocean front restaurant is quite nice. The staff was friendly and efficient. Our drink order came out quickly and our waitress was knowledgeable regarding the selections and specials. This is the second time my wife and I ate here. We were not impressed by the quality of the food, but we were encouraged by friends and family to give it a second shot. Unfortunately this visit wasn't any better. For a comparatively expensive restaurant I was expecting something with more "Wow" factor. I had the Scallops with Parmesan Polenta and Bacon. I could not detect any Parmesan cheese at all. The scallops were gently seared but I think my have been undercooked. My wife had the crab cake dish, but only rated it as average. read more

Over a week ago I filled out their online form for a gift certificate purchase (there was no section for method of payment so I assumed they would call/email me). When I had no communication for 5 days, I called and left a message requesting a call back to complete gift certificate transaction, That was 3 days ago. What a great surprise tucked away behind an unassuming hotel with hardly a sign! After a bit of quest to find the door, we were greeted with many pleasant staff members who all expressed their excitement for where they worked. The drink menu was excellent, the view was beautiful. The small plates menu gave us room to sample. The salads were fresh and perfectly blended. The meals were unique and beautiful. So Scott and I had reservations tonight at Chef Mikes Atlantic Bar and Grill in Seaside Park at 530. We drove there and walked into the lobby outside of the restaurant where other people were waiting. After waiting 15 min we left as did the other people there. We were not happy about no notice of them being closed so we went to Ebbys in seaside Park which was excellent. Let me point out we got married at ABG'S in 2016 and spent ALOT.. I messaged the restaurant and received the most unprofessional response.. a perfect example of someone not caring about the people that spend their money there. Me:So the fact that we had reservations for today and drove an hour to get there meant nothing I guess?? I just made the reservations a few days ago so why would no one contact me ??? ABG'S:Everyone was called..quess you missed it ME:I was NOT CALLED. That is not true. It is hit or miss at ABG, the demi glace lamb dish is a disaster and they use too much garlic, yuk. The Jumbo Lump Crab with avocado is lacking crab and to be honest the red onions overpower the dish. If you like Jumbo Lump Crab this dish is not for you. The Hawaiian Poke Tuna was great tasting (probably due to the seaweed) but I did not understand the waffle cone concept especially since the cone was a soggy mess by the time I ate the inner contents. Didn't even get in. They are not practicing social distancing. Waiting to be seated. A crowded line developed . Instead of taking the patron aside who had the issue the hostess decided to let a line of 20 people back up. The hostess by the way was wearing a mask so low it was not covering her nose. I made a reservation - three weeks in advance - for a special occasion on Sunday, October 30th at 5:30. I was called on Thursday, October 27th by the restaurant to confirm my reservation - which I did. on Friday night, October 28th, I got an email from open table that my reservation was cancelled. I called Chef Mike's immediately and was told that the restaurant was closed for a repast and my reservation was cancelled by them. They just cared about the money and had no concern that they we're disappointing us and leaving us to find somewhere else special to celebrate our occasion on such short notice. not even a phone call from them to cancel - just an email that I happened to notice. never again! read more

Seafood is so fresh! Love the Hot Sampler and Mixed Grill which provided a mix of seafood with shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, sword fish over a risotto. The crab bisque was also amazing! The creamy soup base was so light and not thick at all and flavor was mild. I was here with my brother and sister-in-law and paid the extra $5 p/p to share the meals and it was just enough for 3 of us. Unfortunately this review is not based on the food we did not have a chance to even order we made our reservations 6 weeks in advance upon arrival we were seated, approximately 10 minutes later the hostess comes to our table and says you have to move you can't sit here a VIP is coming in ( it was a regular)and this is they're table we were somewhat stunned but stood up from the table we were left standing there with no place to sit not once did a staff member or manager come over to us and apologize or offer us another table so we grabbed two seats at the bar I'm pretty sure our meal would have been at least $300/$400 I wouldn't want to eat a meal like that seated shoulder to shoulder at a bar so we left the food isn't the only important part of eating out the experience is equally important my husband and I were treated like idiots left standing there holding our menus on our 10th anniversary Chef Mikes is not the only game in town Charlie's of BayHead Daniels in Point Pleasant La Mondina in Brielle Catherine's farm to table in Point are far better choices so based on service it was horrible proper management would have been able to diffuse that situation like maybe offer us another table not leave us standing there Sorry Chef Mike your restaurant experience can't hold a candle to the fore mentioned establishments read more

We had dinner last night at ABG. Outstanding and they even made us a Butcher Board Appetizer that was not in the Menu. A 10 star night.

My husband and I went here and really were not impressed by the food. We ordered a "special" appetizer which was pork belly on a steamed bun. Well, let me tell you people we LOVE pork belly, and this seemed more like it was a breakfast sausage patty. Dry, no fat and exactly like a patty. Gross. Dinners were okay, for the price would not be returning. The view was wonderful though, and Our waitress was great too. read more
